Question Pair S Pen to Tab S7 FE - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE

I just got my wife the Tab S7 FE. It came with the S Pen, but it is not paired. How do I pair it? I put it into pairing mode, and press the button, but it doesn't pair.
Until I pair it, my wife can't use the S Pen to do anything other than draw and write.
I have the Tab S7 and the S Pen came already paired to it.

The included S Pen with the FE doesn't have any bluetooth functions
It's just a normal stylus to write and draw with it
If you want to use air actions you will need to get the S Pen Pro which has bluetooth

It's same S Pen that comes with the Tab S7 and Tab S7+. So yes, it does have BT capability.

Let me rephrase what I said. The S Pen that comes with the Tab S7/S7+ is identical to the S Pen that comes with the Tab S7 FE. I know this, because when I used my wife's S Pen with my Tab S7, it worked just like my S Pen.

all s pen works on any supported screen
I have galaxy note 10 lite and the s pen from the phone works on the tablet and the s pen from the tablet works with the phone
does that mean that phone's s pen is the same as the tablet?
no it doesn't
both screens use the same digitizer so it's normal that both s pens work with anyscreen
Tab S7 FE spen doesn't have bluetooth in it
it's just the same size and style like the s7 plus one
but it doesn't have bluetooth or any extra features in it

Then explain why I can use my Tab S7's S Pen as a wireless camera remote. Or when I double click the button on it to start OneNote.
Like I said, the S Pen the Tab S7 FE is identical to the S Pen on the Tab S7 /S7+.

Tab S7 S Pen is pre paired to your tab s7 and only your tablet
just take a look at smart things app you will find the s pen like this picture the s pen is paired to my phone like the s pen is paired to tab s7 / s7 plus "I turned off air actions on my phone so the pen looks like it is disconnected" photo is from galaxy note 10 lite
S7 fe and S7 / S7 plus s pens are identical in terms of the look only but s7 fe has no bluetooth function in its pen
I have the S7 FE tablet and it doesn't have any bluetooth in its pen

Yes. The S Pen is supposed to be pre-paired. In my case it wasn't. Also, if you lose your S Pen, or it gets damaged, you can get a new one and pair it. If it is the same type that came with it, then simply connecting it to the back via the magnet will pair it. If it is the S Pen Pro, then long pressing the button and scanning via Air Actions will pair it.
In my case, I can't get it to pair by connecting it via the magnet. I'll try Smart Things, I haven't tried that yet.

Dude, Tab S7 FE S Pen Doesn't have any bluetooth function
even the tablet doesn't have a place to charge the s pen
just magnets and they can't put charger behind metal
look at your s7 plus you will find that the pen charging area is plastic because it has a wireless charger for s pen
but S7 FE and S7 FE has no bluetooth functions and you can't pair tab S7 plus with tab S7 FE
if you want to get bluetooth from pen in s7 fe buy the s pen pro that is the only way

The S-Pen that comes with the Tab S7 FE is just a normal S-Pen, without any bluetooth functions found on the Tab S7 or S7+ S-Pen. As the S-Pen, which comes with the original Tab S7 and S7+ has more advance features, which are bluetooth enabled but do not have to be paired to the Tab S7 or S7+. However the S-Pen from the Tab S7 FE will work on the Tab S7 and S7+ like regular S-Pen.

Info needed - 30 pin dock extender Extension

Does anyone know if an apple iPod 30 Pin Dock Extender Extension Data Sync Cable will work on the Note 10.1.
Its seems to be a better cable (17 Core 30 Pin Dock connector Male To Female Cable) but if it does not work no sense it buying it.
Or does anyone know were I can buy one that does work.
Here are a few photos so you can see what I'm talking about.
Thanks

No, apple cables are different to Samsung, why not just use a USB extending cable, then you can use it for any other USB cable you wish to extend, that is a USB cable with a male and female connector. Jim

Are you saying that the actual 30 pin plug is a different shape or the way that it is wired?
I don't want to use this for charging I want to use it as a go between from my Note 10.1 and a HDMI Multimedia Dock for 7" inch tab that I have. I don't want to spend $90 bucks on a media hub to achieve screen mirroring to my TV if I don't have to.
Here's a thought, try to plug your apple cable into your note. Then you'll see it won't fit yourself....
Did you honestly think that 2 bitter rivals would use the same connector?
As for wiring, look that up on the net. I've never needed an Apple connector so haven't checked the wiring diagram.
There is always somebody on the World Wide Web trying to do what you are trying to do.
I am trying to connect a Galaxy tab HDMI dock to my Note 10.1. Well, the dock fits my Note 10.1 and works beautifully, and am streaming movies via XBMC. BUT, the darn stand does not fit. So I took off the plastic stand and use just the connector porteion, but it has a stand attached and the 10.1 will not stay on there securely, because the 10.1 + case does not fit the gap. I have to do some innovative balancing, and dare not touch the rig until the movie is over !!!!!
So if the cabel pictures in the OP is available in the SAMSUNG 10.1 version, then live would be a breeze !
So OP, how do you work out this problem? Find a cable that works? Thanks in advance !!!!!!!!!

Still looking for a cable myself.
I may do the same thing to my Tab HDMI Dock and use a stand like this one to steady it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/General-Stand-Holder-Metal-Bracket-for-9-7-10-9-7-10-inch-Tablet-PC-iPad-/400470819072?pt=US_Tablet_eReader_Mounts_Stands_Holders&hash=item5d3debc100

Keyboard 8.4

Has there been any details about the Samsung keyboard for the 8.4? Not much out there but a few images. Wondering if this had become available anywhere that people have experience using.
Not available where I am atm (Indonesia) really like the keyboard and kinda annoyed they release a product and not their accessories at the same time, seems the norm these days though.
the original keyboard is only available for 10.5 not for 8.4
There does appear to be a smaller keyboard.

Wow thank you so much for posting that video. I'm somewhat sold on the keyboard since it looks actually pretty dope. The layout does seem cramped. Might have to pick one up if it comes in white...
I thought it was only for the 10.5, i'm interested in this. wondered when it's available.:good:
Hopefully it hasn't been cancelled or anything.
Geez! After preparing my reply with links to the available for purchase genuine Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" keyboard dock / case I found out that I can't post outside links yet. Oh well. Go search Amazon and eBay, there's a UK seller that sells the 8.4" of the keyboard. I'm thinking about getting one myself. Does anyone who owned the 10.5" version ever got into accidentally dropping the tablet because of the way it is docked on it? No lock at all, just propped into it.

The 8.4 keyboard model number is EJ-CT700. Just search that on eBay and Amazon.

Keyboard language
Hey guys, as ill be using this keyboard for typing mainly in french, will i be able to change the language in my tab s settings ?
The only thing is that it seems all Samsung keyboards that are available at the moment for the 8.4 have Korean characters on the keys. And they're all shipped from Korea.

The one thing that would stop me buying this keyboard is I want to see how stable the tablet remains if I pick up the keyboard, while the Tab is attached and 'open', to move to another location. I instinctively do this with a laptop and it's inevitable I'll do it with this combo one day without thinking, if the Tab falls off and does a 20,000 refraction's of life shattering performance I'll be gutted.
AT&T sells the keyboard for $99 but only comes in Gray
I got it from AT&T and while the grey doesn't match my bronze tablet, I can live with it. It's a very nice quality. The only issue I'm having is with it regularly disconnecting and reconnecting to the tablet. This ends up causing the last character typed to repeat a lot until the reconnection. I expect I will exchange the keyboard in hopes that it is just a flawed device.

Is the Tab 'retained' in any when when mounted (see my post above).
No, it isn't held by anything other than gravity. Here are a few pictures.

Thank you very much.....
So although there's a 'groove' in the Keyboard for the Tab in reality it's a balancing act and sounds like it can on really be used static on a flat surface?

Yes, I'd say that's correct. I know that I wouldn't try to carry it open for fear of the tablet falling out. I've had similar keyboards for a couple other tablets, so I'm used it it.

Just to let you know I managed to pick one up (specifically for 8.4 to avoid confusion) and after playing with it for a while I would say.....
Although the Tab only 'rests' on the groove it's pretty stable and as long as you don't move suddenly it would be unlikely to fall out.
I'm going to have a think if I can Heath Robinson something to make it more secure.....just a peace of mind thing.
Although the keyboard is small I have large stubby fingers and don't find it a problem to use.
The closed case mode is excellent, what I want/need now is a leather sleeve case that'll hold the two together.....I had a look at the PDAir sleeve for the Ipad Mini which I'm pretty sure would be the right size but they only do it in black or light tan/brown, what I really want is an antique or dark brown to match the bronze.

Edge VR / cardboard

Anybody having experience with edge and vr? I just ordered a "giant" cardboard vr headset.
I won't spent a ten times bigger budget on gear vr (yet) just for playing around.
Please let me know how it works. I never bought one because I was told the lenses do not work well with larger phones, and that a different lens would needed.

VR Headset
I Bought this one. Quality is really nice and it fits the Note Edge precisely. Confortable to wear and really nice lenses.
3 Issues.
1. It keep pushing my volume button (more an issue of the phone lying down) so the volume is low after putting it in. Maybe a bit of tape arund the volume controls helps
2. No magnetic buttons like on the cardboard (can probably add it DIY)
3. Headphone opening is not alligned, cut out a small piece will be enough
Overall, for 16 euros I'm really happy with this sturdy device. Tried VR videos, Rollercoaster etc. Not yet found a real use.
Anyone knows how to get the Note4 VR Apps on the Edge?

I understand but what are they supposed to do if it had them
I got my unit!
The black foam looks good and our tiny edge fits just nicely.
The magnetic lever works (after i realized i had to pull it quickly) and even the NFC tag triggers .. something.
As for the software (you can try it even without the cardboard), well some apps work, others don´t.
For example i can´t start the cardboard demos and other apps have no display. Tuscany dive, Roller Coaster VR or Sisters work well. These apps are based on a different gfx engine, so the cardboard player might be a problem. The NFC tag tries to trigger the cardboard app but fails.
There seems some info on this issue over here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleCardboard/comments/2rwweq/cannot_view_most_cardboard_apps_with_i_am/
Overall this is a nice toy! But the rollercoaster got me sick rather fast but inspired my work mate to order the same cardboard for himself (note4).
I will post pictures later
So, as promised some pictures attached:
thanks for posting pictures. I might wait until they fix the bugs
so i am now trying to decide between these two. I often see people reviewing large versions of cardboard that it needs a different lens than what most cardboards come with. The first link seems to be the only one ive found to have such different lenses, intended for larger phones. Second link shows another large set with regular lenses, but that is well reviewed with larger phones. Thoughts or recommendations?

Apperantly it's only for the note 4 and will not work with edge. But galaxy S6 and edge s will have compatibility. Looks like I'm gonna have to get occculas dk2.

I agree. I am not getting it either because of the size. I think they are targeting a niche market with this.
Much too big for me. Hope S2 software will be upgraded further

I'm hoping this doesn't mean the end of updates for the S2. I only got it three months ago!
I love the look of the frontier and the size brings it in line with the current market of luxury watches.. i always found the s2 classic a little too small - it's either a small men's watch or a large ladies' watch.
having said that, i don't think I will be making the jump. Samsung said the S2 will be getting a software update to bring it in line with the s3 so it's obvious that they themselves think of the S3 as another size option rather than a revolutionary update.

I love the look of the frontier and the size brings it in line with the current market of luxury watches.. i always found the s2 classic a little too small - it's either a small men's watch or a large ladies' watch.

I agree i've the regular S2 which i love but i do think its a tad too small.
Plus i wanted waterproof and GPS on board so i'll be all over the S3. Might sell my S2 beforehand to finance the S3
I recently got the S2 sports LTE for a nice price and kinda torn on the new Gear S3. It looks awesome and has great new features but do I really need another watch, LOL. Knowing me yeah, i have no willpower when it comes to new gadgets.
I will sell my s2 sport with metal band to get the s3.
The always one color display is the killer feature for me.
I'm not the only one that has to be able to look at my awesome watch faces.
The Gear S3 made me buy a Gear S2 Classic to replace my 3G Sport. The S3 is huge and while the S3 Classic is attractive it doesn't come in a cellular version. So I got an AT&T S2 Classic last night for $200 and found the elusive ceramic band on Amazon France. I'm staying put for a while. From what I've read Samsung plans to offer the S2 and S3 in parallel so hopefully Samsung Pay will be made available for 3G S2's. I'm fine using it only at NFC terminals.
I hope Sprint offers the Frontier this time around

FYI: The always-on color display has been available on the Gear S2 since the July update.

As I know the S2 can only display 8 colours

Really?
Must be the watchfaces that I use because I can't see it.
I thought the gear s3 has the same tech as the note 7 always one display but gear s2 didn't.
Am I wrong?

Yes, the watchface must have color set in the always-on mode. Only 8 different colors can be used (in active mode, you can use practically an infinite number of colors). I don't think any of built-in watch faces use color in always-on mode. There are some you can download or you can create them with Gear Watch Designer. I don't know about the differences in the display tech between the S2 and S3.
Problem is, it will still have the same issues as the Gear S2 - Lack of apps and development.
The reason I returned my Gear S2 back in March in favour of the Huawei watch, is because WhatsApp notifications didn't work on the Gear. You only received the most recent message, and not the conversation history, making it mostly useless (for me, anyway, as about 50% of my notifications are from whatsapp).
There *is* an app that gets around this, I think it was called something like "notifications for gear", but that was another example of a problem with the Gear - no decent development. This app was the only working example of a chat app (where you could read and reply to messages, and begin new messages), but it was buggy and the design looked like something from a 90's website. Very basic, and nowhere near the aesthetic quality you'd want to see on a £300 device.
As far as I'm aware, this problem with whatsapp still hasn't been fixed, and it was a 3 month old problem back when I had the watch. This means a mainstream app has not been fixed for almost a year, and no apps have been developed in that time to fix the problem (except for the one I mentioned, which was buggy and hasn't been updated since june I believe). Not exactly a thriving app ecosystem. (I apologise if whatsapp *has* now been fixed, but I haven't seen any mention of it being changed, and I do search for it on occasion).
Even after all this, I'm still tempted by a Gear S3. Lovely looking watch, and has GPS and the ability to add a sim. The hardware is always good from samsung, they just seem to suck at software and updates.

Is it even worth getting a note now with the s9+

Originally, the note was the ultimate 'phablet' because phones were smaller, but now every phone is a phablet, especially the s9+, is there even a point to getting a Note now?
Apart from the pen
For the retail price nope. But if i had the money to spend i would get a note for around $550 which i see new on ebay. Instead of the $850 for the plus.
I have both, for now. While I do miss the S Pen from time to time, the 9+ is definitely the better device.
I'm a long time Note user and went S8+>Note8>S9+. The Note8 isn't much bigger than the S9+ statistically but it's bulkier in every day use and viewable screen area isn't that much bigger on the Note. My biggest beef with the Note8 vs. earlier Notes is 18:9 isn't a great format for note taking. It felt awkward trying to write on that narrow a display which was compounded by the curved edges. I have a Tab S3 and its my lone S Pen device for now. The Note-series used to leap frog the specs of the S-series but outside the dual lens camera and more RAM that didn't happen this round. I'd still be interested in the Note9 if it isn't a bigger-for-no-reason rehashed S9+ with a pen.

Yeah me too. I miss the S-pen from time to time but when u was using the Note 8, I didn't use thes-pen, even from time to time.
I'm keeping both for a little while longer. S9+ better phone in every way for me, for my use.

agree, would only go back to the note if I needed the pen on a daily basis, the pen is nice but I would rather they use that space for battery lol
Just came from a note 8 to the s9+. S9 is better in all ways and don't miss the spen at all. Plus this is just a better looking device and feels better to use

The bulkiness of the Note 8 was what made me upgrade.

Yeah. I used the S Pen heavily when I had the Note4, Note Edge, Note5 and Note7, but found myself using it significantly less with my Note8 for whatever reason. I would almost forget about it until I had to select some small text, edit an image with instructions and notes for a client, or create/accept electronic signatures.
I have never used my S-Pen, not even on my 12.2 Pro. I am considering making the switch. I can get one for $650 out the door and I just sold my other Note 8 for $550, so not much out of pocket.

The battery on s9+ is a godsend. I took off charge at 3am, read news for half hour, listened to spotify on way to work(40mins), worked a 12 hour shift, spotofy on way home and alot of texting on breaks at work and 62% at bedtime at 930pm. Work has alot of areas with no reception so standby usage was 1.8% per hour instead of the usual 0.5% when there is a strong signal.

Yeah I was just testing the stand by on mine today. I unplugged a little over 17 hours ago and didn't turn on any sort of power saving features. Just let the phone sit and do it's thing. Over the course of that time it only dropped from 100% charge down to 96% charge and then when I picked it up to use it I updated a bunch of apps which dropped it down another 4%. But 4% discharge over 17 hours is pretty remarkable in my opinion.

BarryH, I agree 100% with your statement. My biggest gripe with the note series is the curved edges. It's almost impossible to write as you get to the curve edges, which lite you stated the screen is narrower. Note series needs to have a flat screen for better Spen functions.
