Keyboard 8.4 - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

Has there been any details about the Samsung keyboard for the 8.4? Not much out there but a few images. Wondering if this had become available anywhere that people have experience using.

Not available where I am atm (Indonesia) really like the keyboard and kinda annoyed they release a product and not their accessories at the same time, seems the norm these days though.

the original keyboard is only available for 10.5 not for 8.4

There does appear to be a smaller keyboard.

Wow thank you so much for posting that video. I'm somewhat sold on the keyboard since it looks actually pretty dope. The layout does seem cramped. Might have to pick one up if it comes in white...

I thought it was only for the 10.5, i'm interested in this. wondered when it's available.:good:

Hopefully it hasn't been cancelled or anything.

Geez! After preparing my reply with links to the available for purchase genuine Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" keyboard dock / case I found out that I can't post outside links yet. Oh well. Go search Amazon and eBay, there's a UK seller that sells the 8.4" of the keyboard. I'm thinking about getting one myself. Does anyone who owned the 10.5" version ever got into accidentally dropping the tablet because of the way it is docked on it? No lock at all, just propped into it.

can't find them anywhere. Anyone got a link?

The 8.4 keyboard model number is EJ-CT700. Just search that on eBay and Amazon.

Keyboard language
Hey guys, as ill be using this keyboard for typing mainly in french, will i be able to change the language in my tab s settings ?

The only thing is that it seems all Samsung keyboards that are available at the moment for the 8.4 have Korean characters on the keys. And they're all shipped from Korea.

The one thing that would stop me buying this keyboard is I want to see how stable the tablet remains if I pick up the keyboard, while the Tab is attached and 'open', to move to another location. I instinctively do this with a laptop and it's inevitable I'll do it with this combo one day without thinking, if the Tab falls off and does a 20,000 refraction's of life shattering performance I'll be gutted.

AT&T sells the keyboard for $99 but only comes in Gray

I got it from AT&T and while the grey doesn't match my bronze tablet, I can live with it. It's a very nice quality. The only issue I'm having is with it regularly disconnecting and reconnecting to the tablet. This ends up causing the last character typed to repeat a lot until the reconnection. I expect I will exchange the keyboard in hopes that it is just a flawed device.

Photo's with keyboard only and Tab mounted would be mucho appreciated.
Is the Tab 'retained' in any when when mounted (see my post above).

No, it isn't held by anything other than gravity. Here are a few pictures.

Thank you very much.....
So although there's a 'groove' in the Keyboard for the Tab in reality it's a balancing act and sounds like it can on really be used static on a flat surface?

Yes, I'd say that's correct. I know that I wouldn't try to carry it open for fear of the tablet falling out. I've had similar keyboards for a couple other tablets, so I'm used it it.

Just to let you know I managed to pick one up (specifically for 8.4 to avoid confusion) and after playing with it for a while I would say.....
Although the Tab only 'rests' on the groove it's pretty stable and as long as you don't move suddenly it would be unlikely to fall out.
I'm going to have a think if I can Heath Robinson something to make it more secure.....just a peace of mind thing.
Although the keyboard is small I have large stubby fingers and don't find it a problem to use.
The closed case mode is excellent, what I want/need now is a leather sleeve case that'll hold the two together.....I had a look at the PDAir sleeve for the Ipad Mini which I'm pretty sure would be the right size but they only do it in black or light tan/brown, what I really want is an antique or dark brown to match the bronze.

The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is one of the most powerful mobile phones on the market. To use this power to move even more comprehensive, it is with the Power Pack EBB-U10 perfectly matching battery extension. The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is there simply implanted "and already it has enough power for up to an additional 8.5 hours of talk time or up to 500 hours standby. The testers are, moreover, agreed by the Bank: The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is found in the top rankings ever before and need no other phone to hide. Example is the good test results with CHIP, and connect online kosten.de.
The google translation starts of fine... it gets all crazy at the end lol. Cool though, not exactly sure how it works...
My translation
The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 is one of the most powerful phones on the market. The Power-Pack EBB-U10 is a perfectly tuned Battery-Enhancement to use this power more comfortable on the go. The Galaxy S easily sits in the case and can use an additional 8,5 hours of voice or 500 hours standby. The testers are troughout impressed by the Galaxy S: it tops every highscore and doesnt have to hide behind other phones. Take the tests from CHIP, connect and online-kosten.de for example.

It works just like every iPhone Batterycase. A battery is built in the case. It connects to the phone via the USB port.
that sounds nice! hopefully it's going to be cheap and available soon
I wonder how much thicker this makes the phone.
The weight is 70 grams. Making the whole thing 188 grams heavy.
iPhone 4 is 137 grams total.
I like the concept and the fact it doubles as a case for the back and sides fo the Galaxy S. It looks very nice and extends the overall usage time of the device. So plus plus in my books.
Here's to hoping it doesn't cost TOO MUCH and that it doesn't hinder the 3.5 socket. I was waiting for an official battery to be released out there, then they announce something better.
This may actually make the phone feel sturdier and protect the back. It can also make a more explosive phone LOL

to my knowledge in the top right corner of the korean version of SGS there is a antenna (tv or something). the battcase (and all other hardcases) has therefore at this place a hole for better reception. now if u look to the photo u see through this hole and u see another hole, that one is for the cam.
lets hope u unterstand what i mean...
OT:
anyways, i still don't understand why samsung placed its usb connection in the top left corner ... this is a real hardware design mistake - like the iphone 4 antenna design.

No, it's definetly not. This is a german ad. The german, e.g. international, version doesn't have the antenna.
I assume it's a keychain.

I agree but unlike the iPhone at least this one isn't service impacting...just an inconvenience
That's a massive hole for a keychain.
It's for the antenna, they're not going to make 2 different kinds just so some can have the hole.

[Q] Build quality?

For the lucky few who have their transformers, how is the build quality? I'm actually typing this up from my Motorola Xoom right now and really like it. But the transformers IPS screen is really drawing me. Also some of the other features like the dock, and front facing speakers. But the larger size is scaring me away. The bezel looks alot bigger the on the xoom especially length wise. Is it noticeable \ bothersome? I really like the xooms design and build quality
. How do you guys feel about Asus's? anyone with experience with both who can comment?
I have a few more days to return the xoom so I need decide if waiting for the transformer to come to the us is worth it.
Also is the transformers bootloader going to be unlocked for sure?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
its very nice build, does not feel cheep. there is a little movement on the back if you press it in the right place. but apart from that its perfect in my opinion. im using swiftkey tablet beta. which is perfect and makes typing on it super easy. and in portrait its super easy to type. im finding everything on it much easier to do than on my girlfriends ipad. i've always like asus since i got a eee 4g surf(one of the first netbooks). and a eee pc 1001ha(netbook). and always been impressed with there build quality and design.
cant say about the bootloader. but im sure people will try. i know paul from modaco. has a eeepad. and has all ready rooted and optimize it. just waiting for honeycomb source so they can deodexed the system allowing. custom kernels, roms, mods ect
You've been watching videos, but haven't actually seen one ?
The bezel looks big in the videos becasue you can't see the very nice old gold casing that surrounds the device, i may be a bit larger than the xoom or galaxy tab, but after you've picked it up twice you don't notice it.
the main unit, pad, is solid built, and most of the unit is metal, i will consider it heavy, especially if you combine the keyboard, as both unit has built in battery, but you do get over 14-16 hours of use, comment from asus rep, and it's very thin.

By far the best keyboard for a 10.1 tablet. I tried them all including the swiftkey beta. Thumb keyboard just released a beta you can get for free I was using the paid version before the beta. Anyone want to be daring and do a teardown of their transformer

Are you meant to, as the name suggest, typing with you thumbs?
On real keyboards I type with all 10 fingers, so I wonder how it works on a touch screen. Probably not at all.

It's just a name man... It has a layout very similar to the swiftkey beta split layout(just works a hell of a lot better). There are actually 4 or 5 different layouts in the the paid version and you can have different layouts based on landscape or portrait .

Yeah you can. The point is to be able to hold the device and type at the same time. With a tablet, it is kinda hard if the keyboard isn't split because it is physically hard to reach the center part of the keyboard.

I was just thinking about all the old pda's i had used and remembered i still have a think outside slim bluetooth keyboard. Works fine except for the shift key. Since the screen on the atrix 2 is large this works perfect as a portable "lapdock". Bet they are cheap on ebay.?

Excellent. I was wondering if the Atrix 2 supported the Bluetooth Keyboard. I saw a folding bluetooth keyboard at Radio Shack the other day for like $80. That means I oughta be able to get one for under $20 somewhere... LOL
Wonder why the shift doesn't work. How odd.

Got me, it seems to be a driver issue. Looked on Ebay, I gave $30 for this one years ago, and people are wanting $160 for them. Man, out of touch with reality they are.
I saw a few online and some stated they only work with Android 3.0+. Anyone else seeing this? Also, wouldn't a Bluetooth keyboard made for the iPhone slash iPad work on our OS theoretically? I know that most other Bluetooth devices are multi-compatble so to speak. I'm looking to invest on one soon and I'm trying to do all my research. Very excited to run Ubuntu on this beast as mentioned in the development forums...

I successfully use the Microsoft 6000 BT Keyboard with my phone. My shift key does work, along with all letter keys, number keys and all symbols. (at least they do in Evernote) I think it retails for about $50 if you want one with a number pad, or $35 if you don't need one. Also, it is a full size bluetooth keyboard, which was tough to find a year ago.

Yeah, It's the only thing I wish were different, but I decided to sacrifice a mount for a full size keyboard. Big fingers don't really like small keyboards.

hello, i new user of Atrix 2..today i bought multimedia kit full box for atrix 4g..overall function is very good excepted Bluetooth keyboard..can anybody suggest the solution?? im using supercharged V6 ROM..
Bought this Logitech bluetooth keyboard for ipad but works on our A2.. got it on discount for 30$ or Rs.1500. they say it has a 30ft range, but ive been having trouble going past about 15ft, though thats fine for now.
Im trying to get a setup with a HDMI supported LCD panel and also a mouse. Might get the Logitech v470 or MS Netbook 5000 which are compatible with the droid bionic so im guessing theyll work with our phone too..
Any suggestions for a 13" 15" lcd with hdmi support ?? Have just found TVs till now but no luck with LCD panels or even monitors, and TVs are somewhat out of my budget for now..
I was shopping around one of these, until i met the lapdock... you can get the whole bundle cheaper than a decent bluetooth keyboard. It also charges your phone.

ZAGGkeys Folio White with White Backlit Keyboard

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this keyboard.
Thoughts/Opinions?
I ordered one this morning I will have it by Monday sometime
I'll give another post on Tues.
Anything in particular you are looking for?
I got mine Friday and I love it! (Wish it came in other colors besides white!) It pairs up easily and stays connected. I have note had to use the back light keyboard (the screen lights up the keybaord plenty in a dimly lite room) I love the "touch" of the keys! Makes my Note 8.0 much more functional, to me.
I wasn't sure about paying 99.99 for a keyboard but I'm glad I did! It is just what I was looking for!! Buy it, you will not be sorry!

Hope this helps courtesy of my Android buddy- Gerry:
I just love the Zaggkeys Folio for Galaxy Note 8. A sturdy and solid case with a "rubbery" feel exterior. You just know your Note 8 is well protected with this keyboard case. White is too plain for me though, so I just splashed on a couple of vintage style stickers to my liking.

I think this case with keyboard is the most aesthetic looking for the Note 8.. The bluetooth keyboard definitely adds a lot of functionality if you like to type and email a lot using your tablet. Individual keys are the right size and you won't be fidgeting and fumbling pressing those keys. Lengthy entries are a cinch. However , navigation and key input is not intuitive. The layout is not a typlical QWERTY layout so will need some adjustments on your part. Navigation using the keyboard is tricky and cumbersome, so your best recourse is to use the S-pen or your finger along with key inputs. Think mouse and keyboard like on a desktop. I was hopping to map some keys for gaming but at this point I think it will not be even possible.
Oh! And I can say that watching movies in bed is so much more fun. The screen angle stays in place not like my MOKO slim folio case which hardly stays put.
The backlit keys sure look PUURRRTTYYY!
Final thoughts:
This case somehow takes away from the pure tablet experience of the Note 8. It makes your Note 8 feel like a "small netbook/laptop". With the keyboard, you are mostly forced to use the Note 8 in landscape view. In portrait mode, it feels like you are holding and reading a hardbound novel. The weight difference is significant from a naked note 8 or even one with a slim case. They Note 8 is also not that easy to take out of this case if you want to move between cases. So be prepared to use this as your main case once you pop the Note 8 in.
But for my own purpose, this is a perfect accessory that I need. Useful as it is, I think it is still overpriced at $99. Although I can't find anything cheaper that comes close to the aesthetics and slim fit of the Zaggkeys folio. If $99 will not set you back much, then I recommend you get this one.
I received mine on Monday and is very nice and works perfectly
Some things to note
The hinge does flex dont know the long term durability
By doing a function right arrow you can change the colors of the keyboard
Wish it came in different colors
the charging cable for the keyboard is on the opposite side of the charging of the note 8
Thanks Baratheonist. This is what I was looking for. Still debating if I should get it... not sure if i want my tablet set as a netbook or if I'd like to take it out and put back in from time to time. I have the Asus Transformer Infinity with the dock and I find I use the tablet mostly without the dock but I do find it handy from time to time... plus it acts as an extra battery so that was a plus. Maybe I will give it time.
The nicest looking set up I have seen, but, would it kill any of these Bluetooth keyboard makers to add a small mouse pad?
$50
Now only if they could price this thing reasonably!!! $99 + tax I think NOT!!! This needs to be around $50 before the average joe like me would ever even consider buying it.

Physical keyboard for galaxy note 4

I always enjoyed typing on a hardware keyboard. Unfortunately phones with physical keyboards are no longer produced (except blackberry).
The phone i used until now was nokia n900, but its battery died, so i decided to move on. I wanted a device like htc tytn 2 or htc touch pro 2 but with today specifications. I found none.
So i got a samsung galaxy note 4 and decided to add a hardware keyboard to it. I know that for galaxy s4 there are some bluetooth keyboard cases, but they does not allow full control of the interface. I wanted something with a mousepad.
For that i found the Rii mini bluetooth keyboard. It is about the same size as the note 4.
With two ringke slim cases, i build a slide mechanism that can also tilt:

Here are a few photos of the note 4 next to older devices
You can see how i build it here: http://simpledevices.blogspot.ro/
nice mod!
I haven't seen a psion in forever!
Did you consider those similar keyboards that connect via bluetooth or is the USB host for something else?
The usb host is for connecting any usb device. I make a small host adapter which i keep in a free space in the keyboard case:
nice one. where did you buy the keyboard from, in Romania?
i bought it from olx.ro, but i also found on robofun.ro
I have a very similar keyboard. How would I go about connecting the keyboard with the phone? I am not trying to make a slider phone, but just want to use the keyboard wirelessly with the phone. Thanks.
That is freaking awesome. I have that same little keyboard, I may have to set aside some time to make one of these for myself.

well, there are several model of this keyboard available. some of them are using wifi, some bluetooth. If your keyboard is using bluetooth, simple activate bluetooth on the phone, turn on the keyboard, on the phone search for bluetooth devices, you should find the keyboard, select it, it may ask you to introduce a code, insert it, and you are done.
If your keyboard is using wifi, you'll need to use a usb host adapter to plug the wifi adapter that came with the keyboard to the phone usb. I didn't use such a keyboard before, so not sure what you have to do after that.

if you have access to a 3d printer, you can make it look alot better, however the slide mechanism should be made from metal, becase the note 4 is not very light.
I would really like to see something similar, so if you can find some time to do it, please post the pictures
Maybe you have better ideas about the slide and tilt mechanism.
Best regards,
Liviu

My keyboard has an usb dongle I have to plug in somewhere. I wasn't sure how it connected until much later after looking at your pics much more closely. I ordered an otg cable, hopefully it works out. Thanks man, and that is a sick mod.

I wouldn't have the first clue where to find a 3D printer, unfortunately. That's a good idea though.
I have a couple of cases that would work well for this and I think they'd look nice with a leather covering, so we'll see what I can come up with. I'll definitely post pics when/if I do this

Looking forward to see your case, especially the slide mechanism, will you do the same as i did, or you have better ideas?

I have to see what I can rummage up for the mechanism, I may have to make a trip to Fry's or something. I'll probably keep it similar to your design cause I like the slide & tilt thing. I'm out of state visiting my mom all week so I have lots of time to brainstorm :good:

Sounds great! I have some ideas that can remove those bulges from the first case:
The idea is to use some screws to fix the case to slide and cut the metal bends that holds the first case:
Flipping those two small holders will give you a space in the middle for the screws, allowing you to slide easily:
I'm not sure if i have time this weekend to do this on my case, but you can try it out.
if someone makes this for me I swear I'll buy it or if someone could give me a link to some official ones I would love you forever lol. I need this in my life

I'm afraid you won't find this anywhere to buy, you'll have to build it yourself.
yeah unfortunately I realized that after looking online for like 3 days straight lmao. literally impossible to find. I don't know why this isn't a thing I think it's absolutely amazing. brings me back to the G1 and Moto XT & all that.
I've searched all over for Note 4 keyboard cases and didn't find any like with my old S3, sadly, but then you went and made one! Looks nice!
I just wish that keyboard had backlighting, since I use my phone in dark rooms fairly often. But since it's a DIY effort anyway, I might as well base it off one of those old S3 cases that did have the backlighting and the classic HTC slide action with tilt.
