The box was nice with details of the phone on it. Inside the box there was a European plug and micro Usb charging cable, a set of earphones, the SIM tray removal pin and all the instruction manual and warranty card.
When I removed the phone I thought the screen was a very nice size for my big hands and the back was a nice shiny midnight black with the triple camera setup & fingerprint sensor.
On the right hand side was the power button and volume rockers and on the left the SIM tray which can hold 2 SIM cards & a micro SD card up to 512gb.
On the top was what looks like a microphone hole and on the bottom micro usb charging port, the sound speaker and a 3.5" headphone jack. The sides felt ok but was very plasticy and has that budget feel but still felt nice to hold.
On the screen was the teardrop selfie camera.
I found the phone itself was very light but nice to hold.
The phone has 3gb of Ram and 64gb of storage so if you put in a 512gb micro SD card you will have more than enough storage. I have put in a 128gb card which to me is plenty. I haven't taken any pictures as yet but that I will post later.
Once I had setup the phone it was surprisingly quite responsive and the LCD screen was bright and very clear.
What I was very happy with is that this budget phone has Android 10.1 & Magic Ui 3.1, something my Honor 20 or Honor 9X Pro doesn't have as of yet and looks great, can't wait for it to come on my Honor 20 and 9X Pro.
The Honor 9A also has face unlock and the fingerprint scanner and password to protect the phone something you wouldn't expect on this price range phone.
I also found not having Google apps and services nothing to worry about as most can be found on the App gallery and APK pure, but Petal search is fantastic and will find most apps you need.
I charged the phone to full and used it all day yesterday and most of today so far and still on 50%. So that 5000mAh battery is brilliant and definitely makes it last longer, depending on use.
I have not used the phone for gaming as yet as use the Honor 20 and 9X Pro for gaming. But I'm sure you will be able to play most games but probably on a lower setting.
Overall my first impression on this great budget phone is good and anyone who wants a good phone for a certain price range then this will make them very happy. What you get for £129.99 is a lot for the price.
I will use the phone over the next week and give an update on battery, the camera and gaming. So to finish if your thinking about getting the Honor 9A for a certain budget then do it as you won't be disappointed. A further update to follow.
Updated 29th July
Some pictures I've taken today in my garden with the Honor 9A. There's not as many functions like the Honor 20 or some of the more expensive phones have. But it does the job. For a 13mp, 5mp and 2mp camera setup the pictures are not to bad. But what do you expect from a phone at this price range. But you get a better camera setup than some other phones at that price range.
Something I love on this phone and on Android 10.1 is the new Celia Voice assistant which after playing with it found it better than Google and Siri.
Update Gaming on the Honor 9A 31st July 2020. The Honor 9A done quite well playing call of duty mobile but settings are set to low which doesn't help the quality of the display but still playable. However it did play the game well with with no lag and it loaded the game quite quick. To play this game anyway is really good again for the value and specs of this phone.

UMi have had an interesting past. After launching the hugely popular UMi X1 a few years ago, the company hit the spotlight again last year with the UMi X2. But since then the UMi candle has been burning low, despite even the launch of the UMi X3.
The problem seemed to be that although UMi could make a capable flagship, they always seemed to produce lack-luster low to mid-range smartphones.
This is all behind them now and a new mid ranger is about to turn the company around. The UMi C1 is based around the chassis of the flagship X3, so you can be sure it is a great looking smartphone, and hardware has been tweaked to make it more affordable.
A quad-core MT6582 processor and 1GB RAM plus Android 4.4.2 are always a good mix when building a powerful phone on a budget. Throw all that in to a great looking steel chassis with 5.5-inch 720p Gorilla Glass display, micro SD card expansion and 13 mega-pixel main camera and it is all looking very peachy.

November/December will my HTC One M8 arrive !
Is a good phone.
Great post! So, which ones and how many of these should I be trying to implement? What do you suggest?
Good phone but photo quality is poor and this is not a gorilla glas
Yes this phone is a good phone for the price, but, keep in mind that this phone is not a gorilla glas 3 mobile and that the photo quality is poor, if you want to root it you must use the last Vroot in chinese.

I am satisfied with the photos this phone is making, regarding the gg, putting on the screen protector available in the stock package will solve the issue. One drawback is the hd resolution for a 5.5" screen, this is the only thing i found a bit annoying, FHD could have been way better.

it is easy to root with 360 root tool. my friend.
Has anyone noticed that screen randomly turns on and that sometimes you don't have internet access on wifi (this is very noticeable on hotspots which require log in) and then you have to turn wifi off, turn it back on and login again?

MEIZU MX4 hands on

I am a meizu fans, I want MX4 but can't get it now because it is stockout. I find this article from here and just share it with all people like me.

Xiaomi may be the darling of tech publications when they look to the Chinese smartphone market, but let's not forget that Meizu is the real pioneer of community-centric phone brands. As such, Meizu is sparing no effort to one-up its arch rival with its latest flagship phone, the MX4, as announced in Beijing earlier today. Thanks to the MediaTek MT6595 SoC, we're looking at an octa-core (four 2.2GHz A17 and four 1.7GHz A7) device that can connect to both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE networks right out of the box, thus beating the Xiaomi Mi 4 whose LTE variants aren't due until end of this year. More importantly, the MX4 manages to undercut the 3G-only Mi 4 by about $16 to $33 off-contract, depending on the storage capacity.
Like its predecessor, the MX4's 5.36-inch IPS screen maintains an unorthodox 5:3 aspect ratio, but with a slightly bumped-up resolution of 1,920 x 1,152. Compared to the standard 16:9 smartphones these days, the MX4 benefits from an eye-friendlier home screen as the icons are more spread out, plus the wider body can accommodate a slightly bigger pop-up video player -- a feature on Meizu's Flyme OS 4.0, which is a heavily but prettily customized Android 4.4 ROM -- when you're holding the phone in the usual portrait mode. The screen also takes up 79 percent of the phone's front side and has a narrow 2.6mm bezel, both of which look rather impressive. Meizu added that it's co-developed a screen sealant with Loctite that helps absorb shock impact, in order to reduce the chances of shattering one's screen when the MX4 hits the floor.
Despite the large screen, the MX4 is actually a phone I've enjoyed holding the most in its size category. First of all, it's only 147 grams heavy and 8.9mm thick (yet it still packs a built-in 3,100mAh battery) thanks to its aircraft-grade aluminum body -- one that claims to be harder than that of the iPhone 5s. Secondly, the MX4 carries an ergonomic curvature that's similar to that on the MX3, so there are no edges that would otherwise dig into the palm. To get to the MX4's Micro SIM slot, you can now simply peel off the flexible back cover, as opposed to using a pin to push and peel the hard cover off the MX3. The downside of that is you may feel the seam between the aluminum frame and the plastic cover, so hopefully the final production units will have a tighter fit.
Last but not least, the MX4 packs a 20.7-megapixel f/2.2 main camera and a 2-megapixel f/2.0 front-facing camera. While the latter's resolution is rather disappointing, it does offer a live beautification mode, which lets you preview the enhancements on your eyes, chin and skin before taking selfies. As for the main camera, its 1.2μm pixels will apparently handle dark environments just fine, plus its speedy image signal processor can handle 25 fps continuous shooting in 10-megapixel mode, 720p slow motion capture and even 30 fps 4K video capture. For the icing on the cake, there's a dual tone LED flash for better results when using flash.
The MX4 will be launching on September 20th globally, though only China prices are available at the moment: The 16GB model is just CN¥1,799 (about $290), whereas the 32GB flavor is CN¥1,999 (about $325), and the 64GB model costs CN¥2,399 (about $390). Pretty aggressive, right? And for the record, only the gray edition will be available to begin with, followed by a white edition and a gold edition. Much like the Smartisan T1, you can also purchase a liquid plus screen protection warranty for just CN¥89 (about $15) per year.

[Discussion] Are 48MP rear camera plus 25 MP Selfie Camera the best KSP of View20?

One of my friends asked me how about Honor View20, what is the 48MP+25MP, Is it worth buying? What's your opinion?
Ofcourse if he can afford it. Its real 48 MP and front cam is amazing too
There's a video review from Ben's Gadget Review, and the photos look really impressive, especially low-light photos when using "pixel binning".

Used this phone during Honor 10 lite launch on 15th. Camera is amazing
Been using the phone for 2 days now, given the price, it is absolutely mind blowing. It is easily at the same level of phones several hundred pounds more expensive.
The camera quality is amazing, and the AI focus/item recognition is great. The only thing I don't like about this phone is the lack of a baked in dark mode, but there are plenty of themes that fix that problem with a few taps.
The processor the phone comes with is currently the fastest on the market until snapdragon release a new chip I believe, and it really shows. I haven't hard closed a single app since turning the phone on for the first time (just keep them in the background) and it's not impacted it at all.
Magic UI can take some getting used to, but the non-Chinese versions of the phone allow launcher changes with no hassle if you want to use something else.
The phone doesn't have built in contactless charging, but at the asking price, there has so be some sort of downside (if contactless charging is an advantage, it never works well for me)
So far there's absolutely nothing bad I can say about this phone other than I wish it supported standardised expandable memory, but I got the 256GB model, so it's not a big issue for me. There are rumours that the phone might support Huawei's proprietary SD card, but no confirmation.
It's got a beautiful design (I'm sticking with the clear case that comes in the box), it's amazingly fast, it has one of the best camera sensors available on the smartphone market and the battery life is fantastic (4,000 mA). If you aren't a brand loyalist and are looking for a phone upgrade, there's no reason to not buy this phone unless it's out of your price range (buy on contract!!)
It's balanced smartphone, it check lists every users needs & fulfilled the demands without spending too much money! It's a win-win for Manufacturers as well as for the Consumers. Honor View20 is one step ahead in Camera, Performance, Design.

Design
Absolutely gorgeous, I love it! Something refreshing, solid build, very light, slim and small make it very easier to carry.
What I like
Screen - Gorgeous screen, 120hz really make differences here, scroll animation is so smooth.
Performance - Thanks Samsung finally give Malaysia market Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 instead of Exynos.
Signal - Perfect! No more signal issue of Call, Data, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Loud Speaker - Loudspeaker is clear and nice, no high-pitched issue.
Sound - No issue wireless from Bluetooth for my Sony WH-1000XM4 & Apple AirPods Pro or wired via USB-C converter to 3.5mm, it just nice fire-up my Sony MDR-Z1R.
Gaming - No doubt definitely no issue here. All games play just fine.
Neutral for me
Camera - It is not the best, but it do what it can and look good. The cool part is you can use both Rear camera for taken Selfie.
What I dislike
Screen Center Line - It is not that obvious but you still can see it and feel it. It will be great if it is totally gone.
Battery Life - 1st time I bother about the battery life. It is not well optimize, I believe future firmware can make it better.
AOD - The main screen and cover screen AOD control should be separate. Currently Cover AOD control is very little and the general one did not manage it most.

Good review thank you, I agree with all you've said, I love my flip its so nice to have something different.
My biggest disappointment is the camera, I have been thoroughly spoiled with my Huawei P30 pro for the last 2 years and the flip is no more than just okay, I will swap my sim over and use my P30 for its superb cameras when I go on trips.
I've tweaked some settings and Battery life for me is okay, I can get 4 - 5 hours screen on time with my usage so it gets me through the day but there is no reserve, if I'm going out in the evening I will charge it just in case.
One thing that bugs me is the cover display does not have adaptive brightness it's either to bright indoors or too dim outdoors, trying to adjust the dim display manually in sunlight is almost impossible!
I enjoy this phone more than any since the wonder of my first iPhone 3G back in the day

Agreed the cover should have adaptive brightness as well.
I hope next generation Samsung will put an equivalent camera as they use for Galaxy S series.
This phone is not perfect but I just simply like it until next generation is out and I hope next generation will solving the not perfect part.
My set is completed now!
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G
Samsung Galaxy Watch4
Samsung Galaxy Buds2
Mine should arrive in days. One thing I'd like to see on next models is ePaper Display on the rear like the one on the old Pebble Smartwatches

Question huawei p50 pro issues

Hello, I just bought Huawei P50 Pro and as soon as I got it, it had a system update. I did it and from then, it gets hot after a short time of using it, especially in camera. Also when I try to take a video, it records fine and when I go to watch it, it stucks or say "error playing the media", or the video finishes immediately. And another problem I think is with the battery. 5 hours maximum until it shuts down, and it's warm. It's like services are running at the background. I don't know what's happening. All these I think in system update 12.0.1.221. And also I think that something is going on with the zoom. When I zoom in, until 3.1 it's OK, but from 3.2x until 100x it's so blur. So bad. Is it a software problem? It's the second day I use the phone. I've just updated the software to the 12.0.1.223 version but unfortunately no results in the zoom section

I had p40 pro and the zoom was incredible. After the 4x or 5x zoom, it starts blurring, and it's not clean. Do you know, is it OK? I don't think that p40 pro has better, a lot better zoom than p50 pro
Man so many trouble there! I would do a completely factory reset and i'll check again and in case i would go for warranty
Hahaha yeap. The truth is that after update, it seems a little better.
The photos are 1x 3x and 10x
Maybe the photos are good. I don't know The video is incredible but I don't know about photos.
Photos are exceptional too except the ultrawide camera that for me is average. Video are awesome too especially the audio!!!

yeah, the video is amazing. The biggest problem i think is the battery.
From 100% to 4% only 4 hours and 45 minutes on screen.
i had the Iphone 12 Pro Max and the battery lasted 9 to ten hours on screen! It's a big difference.
I heard that the emui has many problems, with stability, perfomance etc...
I'm looking on installing the harmonyOS. I think it's possible.
You won't solve too much by insytalling or trying installing HOS. The "Problem" is hardware releted. Snapdragon 888 is the answer. If we could get a Kirin chipset we will get muuuuuch better battery life out of it, Americans decided that Huawei was becoming so much better with smartphones and they banned them. I'm getting same battery life as you but for me is ok, consider also that IPhone is much thickness than Huawei, and to be honest Huawei p50 pro is much better holding it in my hands than the square design of any iPhone 12 or more....

I hope that huawei will fix the software and the battery management cause this is so unfair
But i'll try to install the HOS to see what's happening there and let u know
Maybe it's better ,who knows

Are you using the snapdragon version or the Kirin version ?
I'm using the snapdragon version. But after the update it seems more stable. It has some bugs, like moon (it doesn't recognizes it) or the zoom photo (how clean is) but I think it Wil be fixed.
Wide on night mode is TRAGIC.
Battery is still -.-
