Question huawei p50 pro issues - Huawei P50 Pro

Hello, I just bought Huawei P50 Pro and as soon as I got it, it had a system update. I did it and from then, it gets hot after a short time of using it, especially in camera. Also when I try to take a video, it records fine and when I go to watch it, it stucks or say "error playing the media", or the video finishes immediately. And another problem I think is with the battery. 5 hours maximum until it shuts down, and it's warm. It's like services are running at the background. I don't know what's happening. All these I think in system update 12.0.1.221. And also I think that something is going on with the zoom. When I zoom in, until 3.1 it's OK, but from 3.2x until 100x it's so blur. So bad. Is it a software problem? It's the second day I use the phone. I've just updated the software to the 12.0.1.223 version but unfortunately no results in the zoom section

I had p40 pro and the zoom was incredible. After the 4x or 5x zoom, it starts blurring, and it's not clean. Do you know, is it OK? I don't think that p40 pro has better, a lot better zoom than p50 pro

Man so many trouble there! I would do a completely factory reset and i'll check again and in case i would go for warranty

Hahaha yeap. The truth is that after update, it seems a little better.
The photos are 1x 3x and 10x
Maybe the photos are good. I don't know The video is incredible but I don't know about photos.

Photos are exceptional too except the ultrawide camera that for me is average. Video are awesome too especially the audio!!!

yeah, the video is amazing. The biggest problem i think is the battery.
From 100% to 4% only 4 hours and 45 minutes on screen.
i had the Iphone 12 Pro Max and the battery lasted 9 to ten hours on screen! It's a big difference.
I heard that the emui has many problems, with stability, perfomance etc...
I'm looking on installing the harmonyOS. I think it's possible.

You won't solve too much by insytalling or trying installing HOS. The "Problem" is hardware releted. Snapdragon 888 is the answer. If we could get a Kirin chipset we will get muuuuuch better battery life out of it, Americans decided that Huawei was becoming so much better with smartphones and they banned them. I'm getting same battery life as you but for me is ok, consider also that IPhone is much thickness than Huawei, and to be honest Huawei p50 pro is much better holding it in my hands than the square design of any iPhone 12 or more....

I hope that huawei will fix the software and the battery management cause this is so unfair
But i'll try to install the HOS to see what's happening there and let u know
Maybe it's better ,who knows

Are you using the snapdragon version or the Kirin version ?

I'm using the snapdragon version. But after the update it seems more stable. It has some bugs, like moon (it doesn't recognizes it) or the zoom photo (how clean is) but I think it Wil be fixed.

Wide on night mode is TRAGIC.

Battery is still -.-

That looks nice.
How does it feel?
Do you encountered any bugs ?
Smooth same to android 7.0, better battery and less of heat
So far got no bug as well
What about the camera? Did you notice any improvements? Should have now the same great auto-hdr algorithm as the u11 (+) I guess.

I'm really hoping there's an improvement in the battery life because my U Ultra barely lasts a full day!
My phone doesn't last for a 12 hour working day after the Oreo update. I am going to hate my phone.

It's typical for HTC... I've got A9 and after update 2 nougat got hugh battery drain - no fix. Htc10 updated to Oreo = worst battery life. And now UUltra.. I'ts time to say goodbye HTC...

Well I have same problem, but still on 7.0
I had about 4 hours SOT with android 7 and now only 2 hours with android 8.
No update ota Oreo for me
Nothing in France, European firmware, no news for me?
I'm very surprised that everyone is getting bad battery life and many are complaining about ram management. Take into consideration that this phone has a small battery for its display, not that it has bad battery life. -- I just recently purchased u ultra sapphire glass edition, which I believe has the same specs except for the sapphire display and 128gb hdd... For me it has been working very well indeed. No issues to report as of yet, battery life is not great but most certainly does the job given that it only has 3k mah.... Granted I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day, but that's because I'm a very heavy heavy user. For me it has given easily between 4-5 hours of SOT... I use a lot of apps and most of the time you'll find my screen to be on... I send emails a lot, watch Netflix during my spare time in the office and play a bunch of games. Yes, I literally use my phone a lot... Specially for emails and Netflix. I think the phone is doing pretty good considering the battery size. Also, as far as ram management goes it's been doing very well for me and I'm surprised by the performance of this device. Overall, it's a very good device and the secondary display is awesome. I don't really need this phone but I was interested in the display and that is exactly why I purchased it to see how the sapphire really is comparing to regular displays, but this phone does keep up with some of the other flagships of 2016/2017 phones.
I'm currently on Nougat and do not plan on updating to Oreo. Why? Because I know the specs of this phone will probably not be able to handle Oreo really well comparing to nougat. I'm sticking to nougat where I know it's running well and smoothly, without any issues...

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

So I did a test between the cameras on these phone, CURRENTLY there is no night mode available, I've seen it on some youtube videos for the same phone in a different region, so I'm sure it'l be included in a future software update. But as things stand now, there's no completion during the night, the image taken with the Mate 20 Pro is clearer, sharper, it's got more detail and less noise than the image taken with the PocoPhone F1.
Anyone know when night mode update will be available in the UK?
Video stabilization is good on both phones although the Mate 20 Pro's is slightly better because it remains sharp during stabilization other than that there isn't much difference in detail, of course the color temperatures are different but everything else is pretty comparable and both phones do well at changing focus between foreground and background objects.
For the price the Pocophone is going for, the photos are great, in daylight the images are sharp and clear, there's good contrast in the images, not overly over-saturated and very true to life. High Dynamic Range is pretty good too, I was pretty surprised at how well it took pictures in very bright conditions. The Mate 20 Pro is still unsurprisingly better in every scenario, it's more flexible with its additional wide angle and zoom lens, it has better High Dynamic Range, pictures are sharper, more detailed and the colors are more true to life. It's not even a contest, but the Pocophone is still a winner if it's bang for your buck that you're looking for.
I also did a video which you can have a look at if you want, otherwise the above covers what's mentioned in the video.

Xiaomi released a nightmode in the beta updates but it's way worse than Google camera.
Poco and the pixel 3 have the same sensor on the back a imx 363, idk if the ois makes a difference tho here.
Apparently the Google night sight and the mate 20 pro are on par with each other during night shots.

[Discussion] Are 48MP rear camera plus 25 MP Selfie Camera the best KSP of View20?

One of my friends asked me how about Honor View20, what is the 48MP+25MP, Is it worth buying? What's your opinion?
Ofcourse if he can afford it. Its real 48 MP and front cam is amazing too
There's a video review from Ben's Gadget Review, and the photos look really impressive, especially low-light photos when using "pixel binning".

Used this phone during Honor 10 lite launch on 15th. Camera is amazing
Been using the phone for 2 days now, given the price, it is absolutely mind blowing. It is easily at the same level of phones several hundred pounds more expensive.
The camera quality is amazing, and the AI focus/item recognition is great. The only thing I don't like about this phone is the lack of a baked in dark mode, but there are plenty of themes that fix that problem with a few taps.
The processor the phone comes with is currently the fastest on the market until snapdragon release a new chip I believe, and it really shows. I haven't hard closed a single app since turning the phone on for the first time (just keep them in the background) and it's not impacted it at all.
Magic UI can take some getting used to, but the non-Chinese versions of the phone allow launcher changes with no hassle if you want to use something else.
The phone doesn't have built in contactless charging, but at the asking price, there has so be some sort of downside (if contactless charging is an advantage, it never works well for me)
So far there's absolutely nothing bad I can say about this phone other than I wish it supported standardised expandable memory, but I got the 256GB model, so it's not a big issue for me. There are rumours that the phone might support Huawei's proprietary SD card, but no confirmation.
It's got a beautiful design (I'm sticking with the clear case that comes in the box), it's amazingly fast, it has one of the best camera sensors available on the smartphone market and the battery life is fantastic (4,000 mA). If you aren't a brand loyalist and are looking for a phone upgrade, there's no reason to not buy this phone unless it's out of your price range (buy on contract!!)
It's balanced smartphone, it check lists every users needs & fulfilled the demands without spending too much money! It's a win-win for Manufacturers as well as for the Consumers. Honor View20 is one step ahead in Camera, Performance, Design.

How's the temps of the phone during gaming? I've heard that Kirin GPU aren't good for gaming. So the Temps after a gaming session would be good.

The honor View 20 is liquid cooled so temps overall don't get too high. It may get a bit warm after hours of gaming and I mean hours. It will never get really hot through my experience

Noice. It sounds like a good phone. Wortjy competitor for the 6T. If only the Software was good.......
In terms of power and design, it is much better than the 6t. Only downside like you said is the software. However for me it's not a big issue as it is extremely fast and easy to get used to.

Yeah I can agree that it's a great phone. And Honor following it's trend of innovation has definitely come up with something new and unique. The ToF sensor, 3D Gaming in a phone are all amazing features. The price is also similar to the 6T as well as the specs. You've got the SD845 vs the Kirin 980. V20 has the GPU Turbo 2.0 and other good stuff. OnePlus 6T has the in-display Fingerprint Scanner which is either a plus or a minus depending on you. You've got the IPS LCD on the V20 vs the Optic AMOLED on the 6T which is good for battery life but at the same time OLED Burn-in. Again, your choice. Which brings the only differenciating thing to be the UI or Software which is where Honor Fails. Miserably. Magic UI 2 is no match for OOS. OOS is better than stock Android and has Zero Bloatware. It's fast and smooth. Magic UI 2 on the other hand is just another name for EMUI 9 and that's bloated with Huawei Crap and While not slow or laggy isn't up to the mark. Add to that the fact that you can't unlock the Bootloader of the V20 whereas on the 6T it's just a simple command and you're good to go. I'm sure that majority of people don't care about that but for the enthusiasts the last thing i.e the unlockable bootloader is a must and will be the reason many of them get the 6T over the V20. Ignoring that the V20 is an excellent phone. Just reconsider the whole Bootloader thing.
I care about unlocked bootloader ?
After a lot of debloat the v20 has an awesome battery life and the system is as fast as it can be ?
Would love an aosp on this one but i'm more than satisfied for the moment ?

Unless you have a bootloader unlock code it's not possible to unlock your device.
Huawei has stopped providing them.
Now You can't even get it even by paying third party sites.

Question Should I buy a Pixel 6 or 6a?

Hey guys, I hope you are having a good day!
So I'm planning to buy my first Pixel phone. Super excited. I'm a big sucker for Pixel phones' cameras and their Pixel-exclusive features. So far I've been using a low-tier Samsung phone so I want to take this big step with the correct phone.
I'm expecting and would be using the new phone to take a lot of photos, from close-ups of flowers and bugs to portraits to pictures of landscapes. AND I LOVE IT WHEN I CAN ZOOM AND SEE THE DETAILS. I don't game much, except for some casual CODM now and then. A faulty fingerprint reader won't really bother me. The lack of an audio jack isn't an issue. I'll be using only 4G. As for battery life, it's around 6 hours on average.
Something I'm really concerned about is the overheating issue. I live in a tropical country, where outside temps can easily get 30 Celsius, though I won't be using it in direct sunlight much. A big turnoff would be issues with the Silicon, where the bugs/problems would be uncorrectable since I wouldn't be able to easily RMA from where I live. I don't need the telephoto lens or the 120Hz screen. So I don't think the 6 pro is an option.
So, what do you think? Which one should I go for, and why?
I'm getting the 6a. I tried the the Pixel 6 but had to return it because the fingerprint sensor was horrible and other minor negatives with the Pixel 6.
It sounds like you don't really need a powerful phone, so I think the 6a would be perfect for you. I don't recall if the Pixel 6 heated up on me personally or not, but from reviews, people did say that Pixel 6 heated up and the 6a warmed up to a lesser degree. Like you, I also don't need telephoto lens or 120Hz.
I don't take much macro shots, but you can take a look at pictures that people have taken with the 6a and see if it's acceptable to you. Me personally... I just need good pictures from my phone. If I want better shots, I would bring my Sony RX100 or other cameras. From the reviews I watched of the 6a, the photos are great but they're not spectacular bc of the older sensors on the 6a. That doesn't bother me, but it might be a dealbreaker for you. That's because with a bit of photo editing, I can make the photos shine. The Pixel 6a also shoots in RAW format, so you could always edit your photos afterwards to compensate for any deficiencies.

I should receive my 6a within the next 2 days, so I'll have to test it out and see if there are any dealbreakers for me. Worse case, I can always return it.
Yeah, I saw reports of the fingerprint sensor issue that came out in the last 24 hours. Hopefully the fingerprint issue is not widespread. I watched another youtube reviewer where he couldn't replicate the fingerprint issue. He tried, I think, 6 unregistered fingers and also had his wife try a few fingers, but wasn't able to unlock the phone.
With the ui lag issue, I'll have to test it out and see. If it's due to the screen being 60Hz and not something else, then I'm ok with the 60Hz. I currently have the Pixel 4XL and I force it to 60Hz. Also, I always turn off most of the android animations anyway (from developer options), which I find makes the ui feel faster.
I own both (my wife just got the P6a). I would absolutely recommend the P6 over the P6a - even to the point of suggesting buying a used P6 over a new P6a if cost is a concern. Used P6 pricing is about the same as the full retail P6a price right now.
I got the P6a only because of the generous pre-order trade in values Google was giving, along with the free earbuds that brought the effective price of the P6a down to less than $100. If I had to pay full retail price for the P6a, I would absolutely have bought a used P6 instead.
Best battery life I've had on a phone. It has very good standby time like the Samsung A52s. The battery was already great from the first charge, which was unusual. I don't know how much worse it would be on 4G though. I assume 5G will eat the battery, so I disabled that already, like on all my phones. Pixel 6a really pits a smile on my face. The fingerprint works 98% of the time. I can almost say it works better than my Samsung S22. But it doesn't work when it is cold outside, at less than 7°C anyway.
Camera is great and screen is very nice and smooth. I think it is only in scrolling that 120Hz has advantage over it. However, I use 60Hz on my S22 anyway, so I don't care.
