Port a Custom ROM from Note 9 to Note 10 lite - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite Questions & Answers

So guys, I saw that the Note 9 has the same Exynos processor as the Note 10 lite, does this make it possible to Port a ROM with DEX working from note 9, to this device?
Would this be possible without interfering with the infinity-o display??

On the processor side, yes it is possible.
The only problems are compiling a working kernel and make sure that the USB board can do it.

Do we need a full on developer working on it?
I just want to see the things we can do if we manage to do this, maybe Dex?
I'm willing to do any testing

You need a full on developer. I don't know how to do it. You'll have to search on the Note10/10+ or S10/10+ forums for kernel developers and talk to them.

Why would you want to do this? As they both have the same OneUI features. The only differences is in the materials used in each device and the hardware specs.

Razziell stopped doing port ROMS for our devices.

It's true.

Xiaomi is the devil. Left us with F*CKING BUGGED source codes.
Yeah, that is sad, there is basically no one left for our good old Redmi 4 Prime.
Does anyone knows how @jacoghi is doing ? We haven't see the man in a long time and I would like to know if he is doing well in his life.
Title is misleading. He compiled the ROMs not ported them.

Question for devs, Is it possible to use source code from Redmi 4 Note with SD (code name: mido)? Hardware is quite similar and they have real strong dev community. Maybe quickest way is to use custums Roms for Redmi 4 Note, adjusted hardware differences and compile Rom for R4P?

Xiaomi doesn't release kernel source for building AOSP or CAF based rom, kernel source only work for MIUI at most. Also most proprietary vendor driver not available as sources (only blob). It's pain to build custom rom from Android fork.
Compared to Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, Oneplus etc, almost all abandoned xiaomi devices suffered same fate, the custom rom will always missing something. We were very lucky if we had such a great developer.
My previous device, redmi 1s never get update beyond kitkat, but armani-dev (especially fefifofum) were a great team, they bring mostly stable nougat release (LOS, Mokee, Slim, etc).

Redmi Note 4X has many ROM's, officially.
There was idea that that device is like ours so we should talk to some devs and use its sources

That would be essentially the same proccess we are now. It can be achieved though to use the tree from Mido and modify it for our device. Make a stable tree then compile
Hello. I have a stupid idea, but it might work. What about porting ROM's from Nubia Z11 mini S? It has the same specs(i mean SP625 and Adreno 506).

You have problem with HDD? Why didn't say that in R4P forums, you just say that you want to stop developing because you don't have time to do it. Is that whole reson to stop sharing with R4P community ?

Intel Atom x86 SOC, how hard is it to load rom from a different atom z25xx device?

I am on a Asus trio tx201la INTEL x86 tablet on android 4.2 on the tablet part. I researched that The zenfone 5, dell venue 7 and the samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1. All have the same intel atom z2560 cpu soc and some are running Android 7 & even 8 now.
The Galaxy tab 3, zenphone 5 got a lot more attention and thus a lot more custom rom attention. Dell venue and my Trio got little to no attention due to poorer sales.
The galaxy tab 3 has been updated to 7.1.1 see:
http://techbeasts.com/install-android-711-nougat-galaxy-tab-3-101-lineageos-141/
Now How can that help the Trio? I found this tool, but no flash.xml so no luck using it:
https://01.org/android-ia/downloads/intel-platform-flash-tool-lite
Here is a guide on how to use it: http://www.aryk.tech/2016/04/how-to-flash-stock-firmware-using-intel.html?m=0
This is all NEW as of 2017. So its not been available before this.
The TX201LAF a french tablet version of the TX201LA is in the same boat but it at least it is on 4.4. Its kernel firmware is here: http://support.asus.com.cn/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=TX201LAF&p=3&s=587
My big question is with all these roms for x86 atom z2560 & z2580 soc's shouldn't I be able to get an updated rom somehow? I imagine that would involve building a rom myself but if the base soc is the same isnt it possible to build the rom for a different device and use a different kernel source like I linked above? The kernel source has the drivers I need right, for the device to run? Ive heard a lot of people talk about you wont get the touch panel to work or the wifi. I understand that but isnt it all loaded from the kernel source? So basically if I have kernel source and grab an updated rom from lineage 7 for the galaxy tab 10.1 and replace the kernal i'm good to go right? I know there is more to it but really looking for some help here?
Even if I can just get the tx201laf image to load on my tx201la that would be
something, its an update from 4.2 to 4.4. Both devices are identical, so that should make it a lot easier right? Looking for any insight to xda experts can provide.
Hi ! I'm still using my trio so I'm very interested ! Did you succeed ?
Thks a lot
no luck yet
I had hopes that this would turn out to work but you cant use the intel flash tool without a flash.xml which is written for the device. SO that stopped me dead in my tracks.
I recently found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/efidroid-t3447466/page37
Hoping this dev will give the tx201la a shot. There is also this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...g/tool-multirom-recovery-replacement-t3102395
Do you realize how simular the tx201la is to just about every zenphone made since the newest. IE almost all of those roms would likely boot on our tablet.
??
Any other input?

Ok I checked out the Russian thread, which I cant believe I had never found, seriously what search engine do you use? Or are you Russian?
Anyway that lead me to this: https://cs5-3.4pda.to/10031052/20170404_145326.jpg?6c8bd0e99d5f5d5ce8c14e92c456565c
That might not mean much to many but its the TX201LA running the Asus memopad 10 android 4.2.2 and its actually working. So that is a huge deal.
Then I found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../rom-8-0-0-lineageos-15-0-unofficial-t3693838
There is a updated rom for the memopad 10. Now I hope I can get this rom to run with slight variations.. Will see..

[Q] Low interest in J7 NXT/Core device?

Most of the developments ended in 23rd March, this got me wondering why no one builds such great custom roms or custom stuff that we can use as well. It uses same chipset on J7 series which is should be fairly interested to be with and has only two bottleneck 16 GB NAND flash and 2 GB of RAM. Do any developer willing to (at least) port some roms to our device as well?

Well i'll most likely trying to help developers in my time, in the past i mean. What do you need? We might need a whatsapp group to gather some people together then we can agree with a developer for such stuff. This device should not be underwhelmed.
Only a few people takes interest with J701f and it's really sad. I'm really looking forward for new developments. Like a working auto-root and twrp because the current ones are really buggy.

[Q] Is it possible to use Dex with A8?

Hi guys,
I saw that there is no offical support for Dex for A8, but is it possible somehow to get it working?
I have a european double SIM variant, if it matters (SM-A530F/DS)
Thank You

A8 actually has DeX support in kernel if you check ccic drivers (in fact my custom kernel is tweaked to make DeX work with any Hdmi adapter/dock), just system hasn't the various DeX apks/services in frameworks, so with a firmware port from a DeX-ready device (S8, S9, N8 and N9) it could work

Answer in short is yes, I would like to add DeX support in stock fw with the mod pack I'm planning to release for A8 but DeX invokes are almost everywhere and add them all is a nightmare lol. Port the whole S8/Note8/S9 firmwares would be a lot easier (tho I don't wanna work on/release a port since I still don't own the phone, but someone else will probably port it lol)
Any progress?
Hello,
Has there been any new progress on this? It would be really good to have DeX on the A8.
I have an A8 and could test whatever is needed if someone is working on it.
Is there a possibility to do it now?

Create TWRP using Auto TWRP Porter.

Hi,
Today I am here with new post.
As you know I am now posting new posts daily.
Many of you have a phone that is less popular and there is no active developer for that device but did you know that there is a way that you can be a developer of your own.
There is team Hovatek that they made up a tool to make TWRP maker tool which you can use to make your own TWRP recovery for your phone and be an engineer of your phone but note that your phone must have common chipset on it like Mediatek, Spreadtrum, etc and your android version must be Android 5,6,7,8,8.1,9 otherwise you need to port it your self.
I am making this post for people like me to help them get a test of Custom recovery.
Thanks, Folk.
I will continue it on Part 2

Most real developers avoid devices with those processors.
