Razziell stopped doing port ROMS for our devices. - Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime Guides, News, & Discussion

It's true.
@Razziell left the ship some days ago.
Xiaomi is the devil. Left us with F*CKING BUGGED source codes.

Yeah, that is sad, there is basically no one left for our good old Redmi 4 Prime.
Does anyone knows how @jacoghi is doing ? We haven't see the man in a long time and I would like to know if he is doing well in his life.

Title is misleading. He compiled the ROMs not ported them.

Question for devs, Is it possible to use source code from Redmi 4 Note with SD (code name: mido)? Hardware is quite similar and they have real strong dev community. Maybe quickest way is to use custums Roms for Redmi 4 Note, adjusted hardware differences and compile Rom for R4P?

Xiaomi doesn't release kernel source for building AOSP or CAF based rom, kernel source only work for MIUI at most. Also most proprietary vendor driver not available as sources (only blob). It's pain to build custom rom from Android fork.
Compared to Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, Oneplus etc, almost all abandoned xiaomi devices suffered same fate, the custom rom will always missing something. We were very lucky if we had such a great developer.
My previous device, redmi 1s never get update beyond kitkat, but armani-dev (especially fefifofum) were a great team, they bring mostly stable nougat release (LOS, Mokee, Slim, etc).

There was idea that that device is like ours so we should talk to some devs and use its sources

That would be essentially the same proccess we are now. It can be achieved though to use the tree from Mido and modify it for our device. Make a stable tree then compile

Hello. I have a stupid idea, but it might work. What about porting ROM's from Nubia Z11 mini S? It has the same specs(i mean SP625 and Adreno 506).

SIGN This petition to allow bootloader unlocking again!

As most of you know, the bootloader unlock server for the rest of the world is down and Lenovo is not fixing it and even worse they are not even giving us updates on the issue. This has been going on for 1 month and 10 days now, longer than most of us are willing to wait. A lot of users already sold their phones and bought new ones but for us who decided to stay, we are at the mercy of Lenovo. This is why the petition is started, we want to unlock the bootloader and at least an official statement.
Even if you already unlock your device, please help us, by taking 5 minutes to sign this petition so we can apply pressure on Lenovo. The more the better so please share this post with your friends, family and the internet (Reddit, web forums, etc.)
https://www.change.org/p/lenovo-lenovo-deny-possibility-of-unlocking-phone-s-bootloader
Any help is welcomed.
Personal note :
As a broke student, I can't afford to buy a new phone so this is the only way for me to try to get Lenovo to fix the issue as soon as possible. I really do appreciate any help we receives.

Surprise, surprise, it is beta not stable.
stable != secure
and
there is never a 100% in everything, even if all the roms here are in stable status, it will never achieve 100% stability.
LineageOS 14.1 is better than the rest of the unofficial roms here because
1. The code have been audited.
2. The images are compiled by a trusted source (LineageOS team), unlike the rest of the rom here which is mostly compiled on someone's computer then uploaded to a hosting site.
3. It is stable enough to be an official rom.

Mate, I don't think you get how it works. Beta does not affect stability or not. Everything that works in los 14.1 works in subham/firelords roms.
Point 1 is absolutely bullcrap, I suggest you do some research.
Point 2 is bullcrap too. The thing that complied the rom doesn't affect the rom. Mike compiles on a computer as well. You think he has a supercomputer or what?
Point 3 doesn't matter. Official is just a tag.

The status does mean something. It means that is is not stable enough to have the status stable. How could a buggy software be considered stable?
Point 1 : What do you think Gerrit and Open Source is for? https://wiki.lineageos.org/usinggerrit-howto.html
Point 2 : You missed the point here. It is not what compiles it. It is who. Just because the source is clean doesn't mean the build is clean. Assuming you trust the developer, A lot of the ROM here don't even provide PGP keys for you to check if the ROM is unmodified in transit! How could that be secure? https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/189063/how-can-i-trust-roms
Point 3 : There are requirements to be an official ROM. One of it is be stable enough. https://wiki.lineageos.org/submitting_device.html
Please do some research and have some common sense before you open your mouth.
So far you have not supported your claims that all the ROM on this forum are 100% stable. You can never prove that point because nothing is ever 100% even if all ROM here are stable.

7/23 GSI RR isn't really a daily driver. Camera is not good. I tried Open Camera and it just flashed color to b&w and back. Picture quality was still poor. Bluetooth headphones don't work--audio doesn't come through. No VoLTE (of course). Probably other issues I didn't notice or forgot.

Xiaomi makes nice phones but they aren't considered development friendly. It might be a while before a few AOSP ROMs are available for the Mix 2S and there won't be as much development for this phone as for the cheaper Redmi models since those sell a lot more units.
The Mix 2 had global LTE bands out of the gate and because of that it was available on Amazon right away and was reviewed by tech sites that pointed out it was the first Xiaomi phone fully compatible with LTE in North America. There is official TWRP for the Mix 2, official Lineage and some other development although it is pretty limited.
For whatever reason Xiaomi did not do the same thing with the 2S. It initially came out with much more limited band support than the Mix 2 unless you purchased the 256G model which had global LTE support. There was also no announcement at launch that there would later be a global version so reviews in the west said the 2S was incompatible with North American LTE unless you purchased the most expensive variant and those reviews were never updated after the global model was released.
Because of this a lot fewer people (in North America at least) ended up purchasing the Mix 2S compared with the Mix 2.
The result is no official TWRP and no development so far even though the release of the Mix 3 is just around the corner.
Official LOS is apparently in development but there probably won't ever be a lot in the way of AOSP ROMs available for the 2S and the handful that are will be buggy because the devs will be auto-compiling those ROMs since they aren't likely to be using the 2S themselves.
The Mix 2S is probably never going to be a good phone to own if you don't want to run MIUI. Maybe Xiaomi's policies will change in the future but at the moment they seem to have no interest in encouraging third party development for their phones. They see themselves as competing directly with Apple rather than as an Android brand which is also the case with Samsung.

I used the official and the unofficial version found on XDA. Both worked fine for me, expect some minor flaws, some glitches as it's a work in progress.
I used it as a daily driver and for what I'm using it it's working just fine.
I'm on pixel experience now and it's really good too, will stay with it for now.
RR has lots of customizations that's where it shines. As I don't need all the features and prefer a clean AOSP near experience I switched to PE.

Yes, go to the Project Treble section of XDA. It's available there.
It works, but Bluetooth and some dedicated functions seem not working. And it is so stable, especially if you rely on Xposed and Magisk for daily use.

Yea bro same, more than 2.5 years and still i get SOT of 6-7 hours.
Whenever i think of buying a new phone, i look at my p2 and i stop. Its still so smooth cuz of the ROMS and charges under 1 hour and 15 minutes.
This phone is the best purchase i ever had. So i want development to keep going on, atleast for 1 more iteration of Android. Then i'll maybe buy Redmi K20 pro next year cuz it'll also have good development in future.
@Erazor84 that's good news brother. But I'll wait for AOSP xtended Android-10 (if it ever comes)
Bcuz i used their Oreo build and now using pie, and i found them the best among all of'em.

My guess would be at least 2 more ROMs :fingers-crossed: one from @VladSor and second from @Fullbustah as they are consistent with porting/ developing the ROMs such as Havoc, Syberia, Bootleggers and POSP for P2.
But of course, we need a reliable vendor upgrade first.

Generic System Image (GSI) is pure untouched Android released by Google for treble enabled phones with a designated vendor partition.
Semi GSI (SGSI) is a customized GSI with features and name of a custom ROM and it can also be installed on treble enabled phones with a designated vendor partition.

If You are interested in testing this Android 10 rom, just follow the installation instructions given on the first page of the thread.
If I well understood, I think that someone, maybe mikeioannina ?, should now be working on a Android 10 rom LineageOS 17. If this is the case, all we can do is to be patient.
You will note that from now on we must say Android 10 instead of Q as asked by Google. So, next year, the next version of Android will be Android 11 and not R.

Hello I've tried all of the versions on my KUNTAO, at the beggining very laggy now better, there are some ROMS which you can use w/out a problem if you can live w/out some of the features like the FP GESTURES OR AA CONNECTIVITY.
HAVOC 3.0 (NOT THE TREBLE VERSION) to me is the best option till this post furthermore I don't know.

So, We are half a year further from the last post in this thread, any news on the stability and performance of the android 10 rom's? [Dualboot] Android Boot Manager

Hi!
I would like to present you Android Boot Manager dualboot solution.
For now we have 4 work in progress devices:
Volla Phone
F(x)tec Pro 1/X
Moto G5
Galaxy S3 neo (nothing done yet)
Our wiki
Why new solution?
There is a lot of them already, such as: efidroid, multirom, dualboot patcher.
Now all of them are dead, because google implemented SAR, A/B, super partition.
We aim to support all that.
How it work?
ABM consists of 2 parts: bootloader and app+ sh scripts.
App with sh scriptes is used to install bootloader and add new roms.
Bootloader is used to display list of roms and load linux kernel with right dtb and optionally initrd.
What is used as BL:
Anything that can boot kernel. It coud be either 2nd stage bl, or in some cases even phones main bl.
For now:
Volla Phone (MTK's lk based bl)
F(x)tec Pro1/X (custom abl + uefi app)
Moto G5 and S3 neo (lk2nd)
Thanks to:
nift4 (Android app dev, co-creator of project)
LVGL team (GUI library)
lk (little kernel, used as bootloader on some platforms)
Fxtec (HW)
Volla (HW)
Reserved
Reserved#1
i am looking forward for your project ,Good work and hope if support come also for xiaomi poco F2 pro

You call it Android Boot Manager. Does that mean it is made specifically to boot things that are based on Android, like Stock, AICPQ, LineageOS, or is that true for any ported OS that runs on libhybris with the Android kernel (plus some patches sometimes), like hybris-mobian, ArchARM, SFOS, etc.?

Redmi 9,MTK Helio G80 64bit,Cheers!!!
Hi, now we have work in progress wiki https://www.wiki.abmanager.tech/index.php/Main_Page
We plan to implement no-bootloader-workaround that will work on devices without 2nd or 1st stage opesource bootloader. And we plan support for Das U-boot
Great news! I see that the Pro1 msm8998 is not listed among supported devices, but count me in as a tester as soon as it is. Curious if it would be possible to dualboot mainline + libhybris OSes too, but I reckon this would be difficult.

It is not listed as wiki is really WIP. And yes it will be possible to dualboot libhybris based OSes with mainline based.

The Volla Phone has no Android 11 yet.
Strange... there is an post in my inbox that I can't see with the web ui?
oh ok that sounds cool..do you know if they are also working on an „universal“ solution for „all“ phones?

I am one of the developers, and well we are working on something easy to port, it isn't totally generic.

that‘s because i deleted the post. It was logic anyway that it will be (hopefully ) a universal solution, bc its also in the topic android development. But nice that you working on that! I also have Dualboot on my Poco F1 because the dev vasishath brought Multirom to this device.
Hi Luka,
any info on the progress of dualboot for the f(x)tec pro1 x? ABM would definetely be great for this device.

Question Custom Rom?

I'm a new user of this phone, and i curious about normally when will this phone gets custom roms?
Depends if a dev is getting the phone normally... For the mi 11 pro/ultra there was a fundraiser.. after phone was bought... It took a few months, also due to source release off Xiaomi. But FUXI is wat more easy i guess.. so i think custom will come here fairly fast

There is already not a single rom for the 12 pro 8 Gen1 while the kernel dates from December 2021.
In my opinion several obstacles, incomplete Kernel ***, the completely new fingerprint part ***, the soc, price.
(***confirmed by developers).

You mean xiaomi made it extremely hard to make custom roms due to nearly impossible to aosp software to control the hardware ? Or am i getting it way off

Maybe it's the soc, for devices over a year old brands like One Plus or Samsung no AOSP rom too.
Xiaomi 12 (cupid) with 8 gen 1 has stable LOS. Fingerprint and SOC seems to be no problem. I guess, as soon as an good developer wants a custom rom for that phone, it will be a process less then 3 Month to stable. RN I use the 12X and on december a good dev got the phone and now we have a pretty good and stable base!

the two newest releases are for davinci (K20) and not cupid.
Users going to that github should be aware. The third file is for cupid but it's vanilla without GMS.

It seems to me that it's written big enough not to be wrong and Vanilla has always been without gapps.

Flash gapps. Los is always vanilla. And the latest release for cupid is built this month and it's stable. This is the best possible situation!

Not always; the particular dev can bundle GMS with one of the versions of their implementation.

I'm so waiting for this too! You cant imagine how disappointed I am with Xiaomi's UI both visually and functionally, not to mention some of its stupid restrictions. Today I've succesfully unlocked BL and flashed xiaomi.eu wich fixes some of the annoyances, but I definitely think a more pure version of android would suite that device better.
