LG G7 Video Recording Autofocus Stuttering - LG G7 ThinQ Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello.
My LG G7 ThinQ Canadian Version has a problem with it's autofocus during video recording. When I am walking while recording, the autofocus seems to be always trying to focus on stuff and it is making that stuttering effect. Is it just me having this issue or does anyone have it also? I would really appreciate your response and comments. Thank you!

60fps recording hack

Do you think that 1080p60 or 720p60 video recording will be possible on Nexus 5, by using some modded camera app?
Does anyone knows if camera chip is able to do 60fps?
If yes, from your experience, how likely is it to see hacks unlocking this type of functionality?
I guess it involve kernel/drives modifications which usually are released quite slowly by developers. But I hope I am wrong on that
Tell me what you think...
As a teaser, watch this 1080p60 sample clip from LG G2: https://mega.co.nz/#!VZ8VXZgT!TU2fnint9AFmo4jdQSzYdRR7jM589y6oVJl-lmQ3vgI

Apparently LG fixed its video stabilization algorithm

I saw this tweet yesterday and have been finding a video recorded with the V10 but if this is true it is awesome. Especially considering a port over to the G4(almost identical in software and internals).
LG's entire demo video for the V10 was shot on the V10. Most impressive part is the stabilization: smooth as glass.

If you haven't a G4 let me inform you that it stabilization is robotic and causes wobbly videos driving me mad a times. My Z3 with DIS isn't this bad. Only downside to DIS is cropping but because Sony sensors have more MP it isn't too much of an issue. My G4 video recording is wobbly especially when panning.
Heard video stabilisation improved with the previous update. Did you not get it yet?
btw, that clip you mentioned isn't using panning, its like they are moving ahead. In fact panning AFAIK has no problems its the walking ahead bit that some have trouble with.

It's only a few seconds, but the V10's image does look a bit less wobbly than the iPhone image.
The reason its look less wobbly is there is a *NEW* steady shot setting in video on the v10. learnt this when i watched some videos that showed the camera ui. you have the option to have it on or off.
What are the chances of this coming to the G4?

Vide recording issues. How can we make Samsung aware?

I'm not sure how to to about this. One thing I really care about on a phone I purchase is video recording quality, more specifically 1080p/60fps and slow motion. Unfortunately, the Galaxy s7 has an issue with both of these.
You know how the Galaxy s7 focuses pretty much instantly when recording video in 1080p, 1440p, or 4k? Well, it doesn't happen in the 60fps mode. The focus is even slower than my s6 in 60fps and there is tons of "focus hunting" where it bounces back and forth between focus as you're recording. Focus is literally perfect in any mode besides 60fps.
Then we have an issue with 240fps slow motion where there are a ton of frame skips throughout the video (just YouTube s7 slow motion videos to see what I'm talking about).
These two issues are huge for me. It's unfortunate because I love everything else about the phone. How can we make Samsung aware of these issues?
Snapdragon or Exynos?

A direct link would help, I'm not finding anything.
I confirm this too, exynos club. Slow focus in 1080 60fps

I don't seem to be having any issues...I may be one of the lucky ones. S7e verizon

Does your low-light performance take a hit on the slow motion recording? Because mine does... is this normal for slow motion recording?
Don't see this issue on sd820
Well, i can confirm the slower focus on my G935F (maybe double the time as the normal camera focus), but no skipped frames.

It probably would take a hit as you're using a slower shutter speed to achieve slow motion.

Of course it does. The shutter speed allows half as much light to reach the sensor. This cannot be altered, except to post-process the video on a computer and apply some heavy noise reduction (with the corresponding drop in sharpness).
has anyone a video from the issue? (youtube maybe)
I just noticed stuttering in my slow motion recording..
Many people are starting to tell Samsung about this issue on Twitter.
i have stuttering/jittery in my videos in all modes , they r less in de low reso's but when going higher reso's its gets it alot. the easiest way to achieve the jitter/stutter is moving left/right & up/down with the handset, if your keeping the handset still there's no problem can anyone confirm this by trying ?
The flickering from my flourescent lighting is awful on the slowmo video. This is usually corrected by software so I was very surprised to see it. I'd forgive this if there weren't so many frame drops going on as well. The slowmo video on Snapdragon devices is basically broken. Unfortunately, Samsung has not made an official statement acknowledging the issue. It will require more people to report it.

it seems like 1080p 60fps mode doesn't really make use of Dual Pixel phase detection.. it felts more like contrast detection to me.. there might be chance that Dual Pixel are not supported in 60fps mode.. keep our finger crossed.

Xiaomi note 10 video quality

Hello,
I've made a lot research on google concerning the quality of the video recording about this phone.
All of the vids that i saw on YT are laggy / choppy in 4k resolution. Especially when panning. This is really not smooth and hard to see.
I'm really interested to buy this phone for his pictures quality.
Could you tell me if you have the same problem with your phones ? Some says that it causes by the weak chipset in it ( snapdragon 730g ), it's just the limitation of the system.
Thanks a lot.

On 20.3.5 i can say 4k videos are not choppy or skipping but when panning the effect is more similar to tearing.
Better stay on 1080p for videos.

Unfortunately videos are extremely laggy / choppy, even at 1080p 30fps when EIS is turned on. Without it, it's shaky, so there's no good solution. I don't know the reason, but it's very annoying, since they sell it (and i bought it) as a camera phone.
I've already asked around in this topic, you can also find 3 video samples that were recorded at 1080p 30fps : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-note-10/help/laggy-videos-1080p-30fps-t4030027/amp/
I would say, it's a great phone, photo and video image quality is outsanding, but videos are laggy. Don't buy it if you are into video recording. Since updates are rare, i've lost my hope that Xiaomi would somehow solve this problem. (However: even the new Mi 10 and Mi 10 pro have stutters in their videos. They have flagship hardware, so it could be a software related issue, that could be solved through some update.)
I think the same, it might be software issue, so try recording google camera? Open camera?
EIS is horrible that's why phones like Mi 8 with OIS and no EIS destroys everything that followed, there's no workaround EIS frame drops, flickering, lags & stutters, if you need the best video stabilization on market you should go for Samsung's SuperSteady implementation

Video recording - can you switch lenses?

Hi guys,
Can you switch lenses while video recording in 4k?
I have Zenfone 6 now and I really hate having to stop recording, switch lense and start recording again. First world problems I know
Thank you

You can't
Yeah bit of a shame you can't in 4k but you can in FHD 30fps only. Surely they can fix it with a firmware update?
