To God be the glory, my AOKP Pie project finally works!
This is not a dirty unicorn. This is the original unicorn, the AOKP.
WARNING: This is for phones that are still using the 50.1 firmware base! Not for phones that have upgraded to the 50.2 firmware!
**** This is an UNOFFICIAL ROM. Install at your own risk! ****
A huge thanks to the Android Open Kang Project team!
Another huge thanks goes out to @LuK1337 for all of the great development that he did on the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra! He did most of the heavy lifting by making a great LineageOS build, upon which this AOKP is based. Please note, this is an UNOFFICIAL ROM.
Disclaimer: AOKP is not responsible for any damages to your device.
All of my work is completely available for any who wish to use or modify it. I didn't make AOKP, the device trees, or vendor blobs. I simply used and edited existing material. A huge thanks should go to those who actually created this stuff.
This Unofficial AOKP ROM was built for H3223 (discovery), but may work on some of the other variants, please try at your own risk. However, if you do try it on another variant, please be sure to let me know in the comments how it worked (or if it didn't).

WARNING: This is only for those on firmware versions 50.1.xxxxxx, not for those who are on firmware versions 50.2.xxxx and up. I plan on working on updated firmware versions later.
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/6ni8bw8ansajf/pie
There is an ENG and USERDEBUG build. The ENG build is marked "ENG" for testing purposes only. You can install anything you want, but I recommend not installing the ENG build.
Gapps link:
http://opengapps.org/
If desired. Personally, I've gone Gapp-less.
Installation instructions:
-Download ROM and gapps, and put them on your removable sdcard storage. (Or leave on your computer and flash with adb sideload.)
-Reboot into the bootloader.
-Fastboot boot your TWRP.
-Backup what you had. (Just to be safe.)
-Wipe everything and format data.
-Install Rom. (Either from adb sideload or from your removable sdcard storage.)
-Reboot to system and enjoy!
If you also want Gapps:
-Reboot again into the bootloader.
-Fastboot boot your TWRP.
-Install Gapps. - Optional
If you plan to install magisk (good idea), then let the rom boot the first time, then go back to TWRP and flash magisk. This is optional, of course.
What works:
Code:
So far everything that I have tried works, such as
- Camera for pictures and video!
- Phone calls
- Data 3g/LTE
- Bluetooth
- WiFi
- MTP
etc....
What doesn't:
Code:
- Nothing else that I know of, but if you find something, please let me know so we can try to fix it!

ROM Kernel: Linux 4.4.153
Based On: LineageOS and OmniRom
Created 2019-08-21
Last Updated 2019-08-22

Change log:
2019-08-22
-Stable userdebug build.
2019-08-21
-Stable ENG build. Fixed previous issues.
Had to edit a lot of components within AOKP rom source to make this work, which makes a repo sync difficult.
2019-08-20
-Booting ENG build, unstable. Issues with Bluetooth stack and encryption key sizes, as well as issues with gestures.

Rom notes:
As @Ultramanoid pointed out in LineageOS https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80053444&postcount=219 You can use Open Camera to allow you to switch between all three cameras (one rear, two front).

I'm staying on RR probably, I was a fan of it when I had my z ultra, back when I used to port

Just a side note, I noticed that someone else is downloading my test kernels, and I have absolutely no problem with that. But do be aware, some of these test kernels may not work. I'm in the process of testing them. So flash these kernels at your own risk. When I have a good working kernel, I'll put it out for the whole group.

Just a teaser video.... Booting built in TWRP:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/pqdldlzikokodw4
Plan is to add it to all the ROMs that I make for this phone.

Good morning everyone!

I was planning monthly updates to this rom for security purposes, which I am also doing for RR. However, the AOKP source code still has quite a few issues that makes building very difficult. I have to hand edit a lot of fixes to get a working build. So unfortunately I am waiting for AOKP to build without issue first before building another update for this rom. I'll check back periodically to see if they fix the repo. If you need the monthly security updates, I'd recommend LineageOS or my other rom, RR.
Thanks,
Alaskalinuxuser

About Omni
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12 (S), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

Wow, development has came a long way for this device. It's nice to see Android 12 for this device!
One issue though; the task switcher is broken. If this were to be fixed I would use this rom more often.
I do know this device isn't my daily driver anymore, but I understand that this is a work in progress.
Amazing. Thanks for the support on Merlin ^^.

@althafvly ....you mad scientist you!!! Is this a build of Android 12 I see for a little budget device that launched with Android Lollipop back in 2015? Guys hats off to @althafvly for keeping the 3rd Gen Moto G spirit alive. He never fails to surprise me with these miraculous custom builds. It is well done, Sir. Thank you for your hard work and continued dedication to the beloved Moto G3. Love for both the Osprey and Merlin models. Bravissimo

This ROM works fine, thank you! Great work to keep this old mobile up to speed!
The only thing is the widgets, I can't seem to find them. Long pressing on the home screen doesn't present any choice to add them.
And the battery light stays on although I turn it off in the settings.
Minor stuff, of course, but still, I wonder.
Edit: I tested Nova launcher and the widgets are there, but just not accessible via Trebuchet.
is it compiled as android go?, is it possible that the surnia was the same?
Where do I get the correct Gapps version for 19.0?
EDIT: Never mind. I got everything I need working without it.

Hi. I am new to this and want to install this os on my moto g turbo. But i am unable to figure out the steps to follow. If anyone could provide me the link to a guide that i could follow for this, it would be helpful. Also, do i need to root my phone to install this os?
Thank you.

All done. I was able to find some guides and installed the OS. Bugs are the same as mentioned at the top. And it works beautifully. Thank you.
good evenings, I know this was posted long time ago, I nhave a friend that has the moto g3, do you recommend me to update his device?? I am very scared by watching at the bugs you mentioned, also... I saw a recent update I'm going to use that one, is it stable? Thanks, Giyax
sorry friend, but when I do a clean installation and then install the gapps it doesn't let me or the start of my google account doesn't appear
Hello all, thank you for this work! In my osprey 2/16 LTE don't work
Since 17.1 updates stopped, I consider jumping on 18.1 or 19.1....any reason to prefer 18.1 to this most recent unofficial LOS ROM?
Is it possible to use the SD card as internal storage in 19.1?

Amazing port, thanks a lot for your effort! Question though, do you think we could ever get face unlock working on this port? It does work on the official CalyxOS builds and other open-source ROMs here do have it I can definitely live just fine without it, but just curious.

Oh yeah no worries, I found out about and use UniversalAuth now with a MacroDroid macro (For automatically unlocking the screen, as it usually just stays on the lock screen after unlock) and it works perfectly well. The only cons of using this method is that you can't use it (Face unlocking) as biometric authentication in apps (You can still only use fingerprint), but rather only on the lock screen, which isn't important to me personally so this method makes your ROM pretty feature-full to me
P.S.: Is clean flash mandatory for the 4.9.2 update if I'm on 4.7.6? You mentioned it being mandatory in the downloads for 4.8.1, but not for this one's.

From 4.7.6 to 4.8.1, we moved from userdebug build to user build, which can cause some conflicts and make the ROM not boot. And from 4.8.1 to 4.9.2, both builds are already user, so dirty flash can be done without issues, but it can still happen that the ROM won't boot, as some people reported happened to them, but others did the dirty flash and had no problems. But it's always recommended to make a backup before doing a dirty flash.

Any version is good, but i always recommend use latest version available
Question, could you please also release your own source code you use so we could build the ROM ourselves? Cuz like, sure you link the source code to the official CalyxOS github repo but the modifications to the builds you release are not open-sourced making the ROM builds we use technically a closed-source blob based on an open-source CalyxOS base, which isn't very good when the end-user's main concern here is privacy.

The device tree that i used is not closed-source, is open-source, i never released a build with closed-source trees, you just need to go on my github...
