[DEODEXED ROM] Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 (jackpotlte) Stock Rom - Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries

So, i didn't find any Deodexed stock ROM available for this phone so i decided to make my own
This ROM is ased on the Oreo November Security Patch.
New features:
Deodexed.
Zipaligned.
Added Germany CSC to the ROM with Vodafone bloatware.
Fixed AROMA Installer error.
Nothing else lol it's stock.
Download it from this Google Drive link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tmIV0d6ItzU9BCcgSbqq4Ydfn65RJ3iX
You can flash this ROM with TWRP or use it to make your own "Custom" ROM. You have to credit me though
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKED DEVICES! THANKS.

The rom is very interesting, thank you Đánh giá Samsung Galaxy A8 2018: Đến gần phân khúc cao cấp

!!
Working good! thanks

TL;DR Can I kang this and supply A530W support variant port? And maybe... kernel optimization as well as our other usual tweaks, add aroma, etc? (Perhaps some not so typical tweaks will be involved )
I am beginning work immediately to bring this rom to our neglected Canadian friends with the A530W, one of which I happen to be! So I aim to bring further features and kernel development from A530F and beyond to the A530W, so typically would post updates for both models. After initial port I wll await permission to publish, just in case. After a week or two if silent, ITS GOIN' UP BABY!
Per guideline, no ETA: I am working on it in my free time. Estimate is a week, and I'm not required to give ANY timing, so don't chew me if it's not here on time!
Key factor is this @DeadRatGames : Do I have your permission to use this "kitchen" stock rom as base, with your credit making my rom possible? Like when mum makes chicken, and ut's good but you go and turn then into some damn nice double layer nachos.
I couldn't do it without that dope chicken

uh, I've never seen u before but that doesn't matter
you can still make this rom without a "port" cuz a530w and a530f are exactly the same, just different csc obviously, so just to "port" this rom for a530w, you can add the csc from a530w into the rom, that's all
and yes, you do have permission, it says in the end of the OP
"or use it for your own custom rom"

Well yeah, of course you can use it as a base for your ROM or any other development. Just credit me at the bottom . Also this ROM already has the Aroma installer. When you have the first stable build ready send me a link to it so i can test it on my A530F universal variant. I just uploaded a more recent version of the ROM which is based on the November Security Patch. Download that instead. The only downside is that i'm currently developing a heavily tweaked version of the ROM myself. If you wish we can develop a better ROM together.

Well yeah. Also u see t roaming and service provider in settings and battery life is decreased dramaticly.

Total noob on this stuff.
I was trying to achieve something like this just last night.
Got handed a decent 64 bit laptop so i immediately made a partition for superR's version of Ubuntu and... still reading up on the ROM stuff so i don't have to make 25 zips to get it right. Expecting 5-10 no matter what.
My question is, what do i do with your ROM, flash a .bin file im TWRP? I thought just .zip and .img files were possible.
Also, i am guessing to not do any wipe and dirty flash?
And (last one i swear) Is it okay with Magisk or should i go back to stock, only TWRP then flash?
Thanks.

Ok 7zip, figured it out.

This is stock. Yes of course you can flash Magisk after it lol. Do not unzip the file you download. You just flash it as is. But why would you flash it anyways it's a base for developing and making something better out of it.

Yeah i looked at it with 7zip to see.
Trying to start the building process... simple ones. Just small tweaking at this point.

I know now. I am trying to put together a rom with f variant to work on my w.
Still new. I can't just load any euro rom and flash it. Tried.
I will keep reading and stop with the questions.

As the name implies this the unsecure stock kernel boot.img
You can use the adb remount command to push files to system now!
YOU MUST HAVE AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER FOR THIS! See here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30274025&postcount=317
If you dont know what this then it may not be for you. This is more so developers can use in there ROMS.
No need to ask to use it, just give credit if you do.

New clean ROM soon then?

Would it be too much to ask for an AOSP kernel (ICS)? I'd do it myself, but I don't know much about kernels lol

Well, this is more for developers.
It just unlocks the /system partition so you can push files. I mean, yeah, it will be in the next CleanROM but its not urgent from a user perspective.

This is a Stock kernel. I just modified the RAM Disk to remove security and to add init.d support and set up the script so it can be flashed.
I didint build the kernel. Its just stock.
How come your user name is in italics BTW?
Not sure on run parts... Need to check. Unsecure is still a go!

I know it's stock. I was just wondering whether you were able to get an unsecured AOSP kernel for all of the AOSP ROMs out there. It'd also help with Sense 4.

To make it unsecure its just some changes in the RAM Disk. Im sure if the AOSP guys are out they know how to do that. If not they can reach out to me for help but they tend to know more than I do about kernels and all

This is mostly for developers that want to do things that having a locked boot.img normally stops you from doing. An average user will gain little value...
But lets say you were making a theme and had to "push" files to the /system folder you can NOW do that with this boot.img. It makes Dev's lives a LOT more easy now, lol

yes it does, copying files to my sdcard and then moving them with root explorer, or packaging them in a flashable zip and copying to sdcard and flashing everytime is frustrating. specially if your doing it every 10-15 mins.

Tell me about man, tell me about it!
And I confirmed init.d support is functional as well!
I know this is just a simplification process for devs and it helps skip the extra step of moving files somewhere else first then move to /system with root explorer if you're rooted, so please don't ask if I'm a dev, the answer is: no, I'm not. I would appreciate if someone could only answer this question without getting into other details. I would like to know if it would harm or break anything if I have VRALF2 rom and radio/stock kernel and I flash a VRALG1 kernel, but keep the rest as it is? Would this newer kernel work with my older version rom, or do I have to flash the whole package first? I basically don't want to renew my rom to the new G1 version since there is no apparent improvement (it's actually worse) over the older F2 version rom, since it downgrades certain things.
Thanks

When you say no improvement are you talking the Modems? If you are only flashung a rom and havent changed the kernel then it would be the same as just flashing the g1 modem with a different rom correct.
Hey scrosler how can I identify that the flash worked. The ROM booted normally but in the kernel name I don't see any change.

I'm not talking about the modem, I'm asking about the kernel, if I flash THIS unsecure (G1) kernel, but otherwise have ALL F2 stuff (modem, rom, etc), will it mess up anything? I think u misunderstood my question, I don't want to flash a G1 rom or modem, just the kernel, because the modems are same, so no improvement there, and the F2 rom is better than the G1 rom, so I'm keeping everything as F2 like it was, but flashing this G1 kernel. Will that be compatible/ok?
Try it??? If it fails just restore from backup?

Well, you can try it but my experieince tells me that you may loose LTE and WiFi because yo dont have matching modules. The modules (aka drivers if it were windfows) hare specific to a kernel. If you took the /system/lib/modules folder from a G1 ROM like mine or nosympathy and pushed them in I bet it would work just fine. But why on earth are you on older build?

Thats easy... Before you flashed the boot.img was USB deggign turned on? If not it would be turned on now.
If USB degging was already on or not on turn it on... Then... connect phone and wait for the connection to finish. Then type "adb remount" (assuming you have ADB handy) and it should say "remount succeeded" If it says operation not permitted then it did not take.

What difference did you expect? Its a STOCK kernel and will behave like a stock kernel except give full and true root access to the device. Its not for the end user its for developers. Of course this ramdisk will also allow us to start modifying and shutting off services, tweak things at the kernel level, etc... But right now, this is just bone stock with init.d support and root level access to the file system via ADB.
Hope that explains it some.

[Stock][d800][AT&T] Lollipop D80030F - Partitions

Dump of Stock Partitions
Lollipop d800-30f
Since we don't have a d80030f KDZ or TOT yet, I decided I would try to do the next best thing. I did a back to factory 20c -> 20y -> 30f upgrade progression. Then I did a factory reset, followed by one click root. Then I dumped all of the partitions that are normally part of the KDZ.
The zip includes Stock 30f images of:
aboot
dbi
laf
misc (removed, not needed - specific to each phone)
persist
rpm
sbl1

I have the modem partition, which will get its own zip and its own post. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/development/modems-att-stock-modems-t3106221)
I also dumped system, but it is huge. Please don't download it if you're not a ROM maker (it'll make Google mad at me): https://drive.google.com/folderview...NEb0dUVlpQenhrOHZsaGYyQ3ZiOGV0LWM&usp=sharing

Here ya go.
Flashable zip of the whole ROM will be soon (probably work on it tonight).
@blastgator, what will be the difference between your flashable zip and the stock OTA, other than the fact that it's a zip? Also, do you find it preferable to use stock LP on our device vs BlissPop or other 5.1.1 ROMs? I spend a lot of time and computing power building nightlies, want to know if it's pointless. I don't think so, but now that we have LP, I needed to ask you. PMing you!

I still run KK. I am just doing some of this stuff to get ready for the upcoming move. I was going to start looking into ROM creation, based on stock ROM (since we don't really have any at this point).
Therefore, I don't really know the answer to your question - "is it worth it?"
And yes, the zip is just what I recovered after doing the FOTA. Much easier grabbing these instead of having to flash 20c and then force 2x FOTAs.

I slapped a zip together earlier for the stock ROM - it wasn't cooperative and made me mad so I gave up for the evening. Kept getting error:

It was >2GB so that might have been part of the problem.

Exactly what I'm looking/waiting for as well. 100% stock Lollipop rom in a flashable zip format. Well, a debloated version would be better but I'll debloat myself if need be. Our Devs are amazing, I'll hang tight and wait for it
Awesome, thank you so much! There hasn't been much movement for a stock LP ROM for the D800, so I'm glad you're doing it!

I would not post something I would not try on my phone.
HOWEVER, I have NOT tried this on my phone because I had some family issues come up and I can't be "off the grid" so to speak to test things in recovery.
This flashes 20y bootstack, 30f modem, 30f system, and 30f bumped boot.img. Nothing else /should/ be modified. Root may or may not work. It appears installed, but you may need to run "One-Click-Root" or some similar thing after install.
Also, I modified nothing other than root and doing a bump. FOTA will still be functional as well as any other nasties that could cause issues down the line. This is STOCK!
If anyone tries, please report back, for everyone's sake.

Didn't work. I had a bad update-binary in there. Once I fixed that I kept playing mix and match because of fastboot error. Still no luck, and needed my phone back. I'll tinker more later.
Tried full 20y bootstack. Tried just aboot and laf 20y, rest as LP. Tried each of this with bumped and unbumped stock LP boot.img.
Bumping gave me a padding error, guessing it might be partially related to that. Unsure.
Thanks for the update, saved me a few headaches I'll hang in there until you get a version that boots. Thanks for doing this!

I won't be messing with it for awhile. I have to work all weekend. 12 straight days of work, woohoo!
Thank you @blastagator for all your help. No rush. To know someone is looking into it will hopefully spark some interest in the d800 community! Once again - your contributions around here have been invaluable.

[US996] 100% Stock deODEXd ROM

Do you have a US996, and want to be able to start modding/theming the ROM? FINE! HERE! Lol...
Please know, this is 100% stock, including kernel. Also, I do not own a US996 (but I do own the H918). This ROM has already been tested (thanks @monsieurtalbot !)
No changes on the ROM. SuperSU gets flashed alongside the ROM. Oh, and setenforce=0 is set via init.qcom.post-boot
Before proceeding. It is absolutely necessary for you to be on a stable TWRP build (currently, RC8, 3.0.2-0, and 3.0.2-1). Also, you must have already have had decrypted your ENTIRE phone. If your phone bootloops into TWRP, you probably didn't decrypt, and/or didn't flash no-verity properly, or it could also be that you are on an old TWRP build. . You have been warned.
This is for the Factory Unlocked US Cellular. Untested on the other US996.
Here we have the base NRD90M ROM from LG. The only difference from this, and what came on your phone is, that it is not ODEXd anywhere. DeODEXing basically bundles all parts of an APK together which saves space, allows for modification of the APK (like for System UI and stuff), and ever so slightly increases performance (by the littlest amount possible). This is ONLY for the US996.
Also, no need to wipe, as /system is fully removed (your apps and settings will stay since that is in /data). Since we only have 1 base from LG, ROMs don't need to be wiped, even if coming from ODEX.
Major thanks to @Chainfire for creating SuperSU
Major thanks to @jcadduono for the root exploit, AND for the TWRP image(s), AND for inspiring me to learn to do it. Also, he supplied the stock System.img, boot.img, and sources for a custom kernel!/RealMVP
SUPER happy to say I am using this currently and it is flawless. Fantastic base for our custom unlocked US996 community.
No more systemless root. This is a full root and I was finally able to delete the stupid boot sounds.
Thx for letting me be the test dummy.
Just so everyone knows I dirty flashed in TWRP from stock and I have had 0 issues. I am a heavy power user.
Everything is working as it should be.
Since it's not specified in the OP - let me make sure that everyone understands that this is for the USA Factory Unlocked US996 ONLY.
Super excited for some custom roms. =)

Moving this conversation over from the H918 thread...
I would love to see the FM working on our US996 . . .
BUT - I've had no luck flashing the available zips so far that are for the H918.
FM Service crashes - I figure the chip is there - just needs to likely be enabled on the kernel end.
SO - if you are truly looking into making us a kernel, let's put that on a likely very long todo list. lmao <3

I mean, they would have to be to have TWRP
And it does say US996 in title, as well as in OP

There's another US996 for US Cellular - as we all know - so as things get released possibly for that model (which holds the same model number for whatever reason) and this thread ages - it might not be a terrible idea to exclusively specify so some poor soul down the road doesn't flash this to the wrong device... :highfive:

Shouldn't be too hard to enable in the kernel. And if it isn't in the source, it could added i guess

Any chance you could post the md5 sum for the ROM to check that we got a good download? I want to ensure a good file before flashing a new system.

It would have to be later tonight, getting ready for work now. You can just double click the zip on your pc. If it opens without an error, you are good to go.
Would you happen to have a stock ODEXed rom for US996 to post as you did for the H918?
Also, are you planning to build anything off the US996 stock deODEXed rom or is it for safety net purposes?
I was thinking about diving into the v20 world to do some dev work, though am I reading this right? Each ROM has to be based off of the system.img for each model number? That makes it hard to decide which device model to buy

I honestly am not sure, but I did this just to be safe. As it turns out, FM is not included in the US996 ROM or kernel. I don't know of any other discrepancies, but that was enough for me.
IMO the H918 is the way to go, and just Unlock it from Tmobile. But that's just my opinion.

I suppose I could upload a stock ODEXd, but, I don't see the point. :cyclops:
You're right, no point. It's early in the game, hopefully there will be a .tot or .kdz (lg equivalent of ruu) for the eventual 7.1 update.
Thanks for your efforts to date.
Can this ROM be flashed on a sprint 997 that was unlocked and rooted using the dirty Santa method?
The reason I'm asking is because that process seems to change my phone to an unlocked 996 and I want to start fresh with a stock ROM.
Well this is weird. I went to install this and TWRP is telling me I have the wrong device. It is telling me i have a 918 when I know for a fact its a 996....

It detects your model from build.prop I believe.
Can you change your model in your build.prop and retry?
Would anyone be willing on trying out a custom kernel? FM might be working. Plus other things and stuff .
I don't have a US996, so I can't test it. So be sure to have a stock boot.img and your stock /system/lib/modules folder. If this fails, you can simply flash your stock boot.img right within twrp, and then push the modules folder into /system/lib/modules. Or you can reflash the ROM.
i was able to dirty flash this straight onto my stock VS995 with the konverge kernel flashed as well and the only problem i have is the static boot but that's easily fixed

basically until the phone actually boots into the os it looks like a messed up tv showing only static colors and you cant see anything, what you do is you wait until it boots into the os and shut the screen off then hold your finger over the front camera and it fixes it and everything is normal.

Any chance you could do it, If it's not too much trouble? I'd like to install it on my F800L, if I can, and I seem to be having issues with the current deodex'd version.
If I'm honest, I have no idea if it will make any difference whatsoever, and the issue could be something completely unrelated (ihavenoideawhatimdoing), but I'd just like to try it, anyway. I got an odex'd H918 working, so It has me wondering if it makes any difference?

Discontinued [ROM] [N8 All_Carriers_Stock_Deodexed_Rooted_SM-N950U_AQI5

These UFirm Carrier Roms are so big I chose to use the flash system.img.ext4 first method in Flashfire followed by a partial rom zip so I could get all the multicarrier stuff to fit. This way also insures that all symlinks and permissions are correct.

Open Flashfire and choose add zip and choose NOTE8_DEODEX_ROM_AQI5_V1.zip mount system when it ask
In Flashfire choose add firmware and choose AP file. Select system.img.ext4 and persit.img.ext4 DO NOT select boot and recovery images
Add wipe and move wipe to top of flash order
Make sure inject supersu IS NOT SELECTED
Flash order should be wipe; firmware; rom

This rom runs great!! To be expected being from jrkruse. Played with it this weekend and used it all day today at work. Super fast and smooth. Battery lasts much better than i figured it would. Brought my charger to work to be safe, and actually used less battery than stock setup. Thanks jrkruse for this and whatever you end up doing here.

All the carriers firmware are the same as far as ap bl and cp files and home csc files. Only difference is userdata images

Yes, those exact steps.
One thing that was confusing was how to get "Wipe" to top, but once all files are selected you can re-arrange the ROM, Firmware, Wipe pretty easily.
@jrkruse Hey man what do you need?

Development [CLOSED][KERNEL] [Android 13] [v13.1] MVK - Maximum Velocity Kernel

.
Reserved
Placeholder thread for further development
Kernel development is fast underway. Those interested in helping test please let me know. The first thing I need to test is whether the builds Im making will work on ALL variations of the June release. Im just on the generic one and thats what I built for but anyone on a carrier build or the JP one that wants to verify boot and that things are working correctly that would be extremely helpful.
I have a rooted T-Mobile 6a if you're still looking for a tester.

I can test. I'm on the Verizon build.
Give me some time.....stuff ended up not working as intended. Probably tomorrow, but thank you.
Sounds good, looking forward to it. Also yes I'm on the June build.
Every new device I get has a learning curve to building for it. This one is totally new to me but Ill get it sorted out soon enough one way or another.
Ideally I want to resurrect Velocity....baby steps though
Sounds like a winner to me...I'm all about AOSP1
I'll let you sink your teeth into it and will prolly jump in after the August update...have a feeling it'll be substantial. We share the same opinion...fast and dependable above all.
Ok, I think were finally cooking with gas.....looks like gone are the days of a simple boot.img flash and Ill need to migrate to using an anykernel zip format, which is fine and in a lot of ways simpler provided you have an app to flash them. Not sure if you can sideload these but Ill look into it further. I should have an actual test up yet today for anyone who can flash it.

Yeah, I'm getting back into it after years of not messing with my phones, my last real contribution to XDA was in 2019. This time I'm hoping to get into the development scene rather than just messing around, good luck! Lots if not everything has changed since my days.
I ran out of time to get anything super exciting done (this is a giant PITA) but there is a zip in the test folder that "should" work on all June builds but feel free and let me know if it doesnt.
At this point this is a optimized (slightly by my standards) stock build. Everything works normally and it does feel better.
No idea if this works via ADB sideload but kernel apps should all work, FKM does for sure.

Flashing with FKM results in boot loop for me, flashing stock boot.img didn't fix it. I'll just have to flash full stock firmware with wipe option disabled.
EDIT: Phone really did not like me using the flash-all.bat from firmware to flash it, refused to flash system partitions. Ended up using Android Flash Tool from Google and now the phone is back.
Thankfully the 6a is not my main phone so I can keep testing builds even if they bork the phone. Let me know if you need any logs.
