This file is 2.8 gigs the OTA update was about 700-800 megs. The update messed my phone up too, lag, BT issues, and less bars my radio is crap now. Going to try to run the full file hopefully fixes it if not maybe i can at least roll back to 7.0

How to enter download mode?
Hi, thanks for the sharing.
But i can not find a way to enter download mode of my VS988.
I have followed this instruction: hard*reset.info/devices/lg/lg-g6-vs988/download-mode (remove the asterisk)
But still no luck.
Did i miss something important here?
Please advise..
Thanks anyway
UPDATE:
Somehow doing the "enter download mode procedure" while the data cable is connected, solve the problem...
Thanks anyway

Yes you can. The LGH631 and the LGMS631 are both the same devices essentially, same exact hardware on the same exact network. I personally used the 5.1.1 T-Mobile bootstack and the returntostock zips which I flashed via TWRP after rooting. Stay stock unrooted 5.1.1 and then jump on your wireless network and wait for the update. I was able to keep my Metro apps this way.

I don't believe LG Flash tool works anymore, at least not for our phones. I was lucky enough to get Marshmallow through the OTA after reverting back to stock, but when I first got the phone back in October last year the first thing I did was try to root it and bricked it. If you download LG Bridge there's an option for "Update error recovery" on the bottom right of the software update tab and you can sideload a kdz file there.
Here is where you can get USB drivers for the Stylo.
Thank you. Just trying to get this figured out in case Draken is unable to get his zip fixed. I'm currently rooted on 5.1.1 and trying to go to marshmallow
Not a problem. Happy sideloading, but keep in mind that a kdz is a full return to stock and you'll lose everything on internal storage and you'll be setting it up like a brand new phone. Then again if you're going to root it using the guide on here you'll lose all internal storage data anyway so...
Regardless, good luck!

There is a method to flash the T-Mobile kdz file 10j and then OTA update to 10L and then to MM.
I was rooted on Lollipop/Katana ROM and did this method and am on MM/T-Mobile variant, then rooted after MM update.
LG Flash tool was used to flash the Tmo kdz 10J file (lollipop).

Hey,
LG UP is a new and easy tool from LG Official. It can flash kdz/tot/dz files.
You can use "LG flash tool 2.0.1.5 or above" to flash kdz/tot/dz files.
The LG flash tool 2014 is a tool modified by some one from Vietnam, I did not test it.

I encountered the same problem with my LG F600L when I was trying up upgrade from MM to Nougat. But before you start did you check the Anti-rollback version first if you are in V0 then you should be good to go. What I did to revive my phone was I use Uppercut. To do this, look and download for Uppercut get it here Uppercut. Once you have downloaded Uppercut close LGUP. Just pull the battery of your phone and re-insert it will boot to download mode automatically, plug it in now DO NOT launch LGUP click Uppercut as this will call LGUP to open automatically then select refurbish and select your KDZ then click start. Tell if this works for you. By the way, make sure to turn off your antivirus as this will detect Uppercut as false positive and it will not run.

Restore v20 to 100% Stock (!!even for bricked devices!!)

This is a simple method to restore your v20 to stock, I have tried with my bricked H990DS with wrong bootloader flashed.
1. Download .kdz file for your v20 model from the following links. Currently v20 models available are:
F800K, F800L, F800S, H915, H918TN, H990, VS995, H990N and H990DS
H990DS https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h990ds-firmwares/firmwares/
H990N https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h990n-firmwares/firmwares/
https://lg-firmwares.com/
2. Search, download and install LGUP ( LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi ) and a file called LGUP_common.dll
2a. Copy the LGUP_common.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\common (May need to modify folder access right)
3. Search, download and install LG Driver ( LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.1.1.exe )
4. Completely Power off the v20 ( or to remove and put the battery back )
5. Plug the USB end of sync cable to your PC
6. Press and hold "Volume Up"
7. Plug in the USB-C end of sync cable to the v20. The phone will enter download mode (or Firmware Update). Now you can release the "Volume Up".
8. Run LGUP. The program will regconise the v20.
9. At the file path, click "..." and chose the .kdz file
10.Choose "UPGRADE"
11.Click "Start" and wait until the process is complete.
Now we have a safe method of restoring bricked v20. Hope developers can start trying to root without worrying of bricking the phone.
This method is verified on my H990DS. If anybody successfully flash using this method please let us know. Thanks!
Great thread! Just want to add a quick PSA for this:
This may update your phone to the latest firmware which may patchs the current recowvery exploit. While this will unbrick your phone, you should make sure that you have the a firmware below 10i (w/o patch) to flash. If you still have access to TWRP and don't have a 10d firmware for your device, use this instead.

Thanks for the reminder. Actually it depends on what .kdz is available. For H990DS there is actually v10b firmware for download. So after I flash using this method the dirtycow exploit is still there. Take a look at the filename of the .kdz (e.g. 990ds10b_00_OPEN_TW_DS_OP_1125.kdz is v10b released at Nov 25) Seems that versions below v10i are still ok for dirtycow.

Though I've had an LG G3 rooted and flashing custom roms, kernels, and mods for 30 months and never once restored it to stock so perhaps the V20 will be the same

are you using uppercut for the model .dll in LGUP?
i have tried this method a few times over the last week, no luck. but i was pretty rough with my phone to be honest, no backup and tried all the other v20 variant roms.
right now LGUP detects my phone as a US99610D so will not flash the H990DS firmware, tried to edit the kdz in hex editor for name value but it detects the kdz as corrupt now. any experience with this?

If this method worked for you & a few other users, it should probably become a sticky rather than closing the thread...
Unbricking a device & restoring to 100% stock is an important feature to most, so if a few users are having issues we should probably help sort out those issues rather than abandoning the thread...

don't close it off, if it worked for you it should work for others that haven't broken the phone quite as much as me (boot, recovery, aboot and system changed).
the dll looks to be a requirement, perhaps uppercut worked for you prior to you AV killing it. i used it despite the AV alert.
so that part works fine, my phone is detected as version US99610d (files used during root attempt) which prevents me running the KDZ with "Error: KDZ file is invalid. US996 -> H990"
i tried to edit KDZ file to change version from H990 to US996 but this just corrupted the file.
i edited the model in build.prop of a rom and flashed it but it failed to make a difference to LGUP.
in a last ditch effort i restored aboot.img but phone is still detected as 996 instead of 990. but now no more twrp or unlocked bootloader.
any idea what LGUP reads the version info from or how to force it to run a KDZ from a different model?

Hii again..
Hope that this will help you how to use FF and that you will see how to change the proxy
Look at this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpeZOK7ATB8&t=124s
One more thing...
In FF you need to choose the latest firmware BUT wich has the mv pf at the end.. couse all others are not
flashable right now..there will be maybe some newer firmware for your phone but as I said not flashable..
And you should do this..
After downloading the firmware it will ask you to update.. then you should choose later NOT update now
And do this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72179525&postcount=36
Or just read the page 4 and page 5 in here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/firmware-b386-frd-l09-t3600156/page4
Can't find a 380 version with mv There's only 360 should I download it? Or the problem will happen again?

If it is the latest with mv pf than unfortunally it is the very latest for your device
And yes then go with the B360 if it is the only one with mv pf
Again, read the steps not to make mistake

When at 5%?
You must give some more info when asking for help
Stuck at download or at flashing
If at download, did you choose the mv pf file?
And one important thing
When changing the proxy you just need with that proxy setting to check for your firmware.. then send the info to updater after that you go to stock huawei settings and check for update and it should give you the firmware wich you have choosen
BUT dont check download update
First go and make proxy settings as they where
Theb come back to stock settings and check download update it should start over the normal connection
But give us more detail where exactly you get stuck
If you are always stuck at some point in your upgrade process, your phone firmware might be a rollback package or not upgradable. I would suggest you to downgrade it to Android 6.0 by installing the right firmware (if FRD-L09C185 is your current firmware, you have to install the same firmware, a) the rollback package and b) the firmware) from consumer.huawei.com website.
Once you are successful, it will automatically upgrade your firmware via OTA up to the latest firmware of Android 7.0. Make it sure to backup your files first using Hisuite before downgrading.
Okay all was alright untill 50% of flashing the frimware and then it's faild with another message that says" faild to check the update package
Please downle the package again" What is this? Anyway Am now downloading the frimware again and will give it another try

Once you have it downloaded check the install later box
Then proceed with the dload method where you move the extracted files first to new folder called dload on the sd card..and then do the dial and choose firmware upgrade
I think this will succeed that way
Just look how to flash with the dload method
I gave you already the links to the thread
Its in the B386 thread on page 4 and page 5
Read that one
Hope this will help
I had the same issue
First it did not want to download
Than it did not want to flash
But I was successfull after having followed the dload method
Problem solved guys I have finally installed android 7 witout any problems thanks for helping me

Downgrading LG V500N to android 10

So for some reasons I'm trying to downgrade from 11 to 10 and I've tried LGUP 1.14.3 and stock firmware V500N20b to downgrade from V500N30c but no luck, it gave me error "please use latest dll LAF protocol does not match".
Is that even possible to downgrade from android 11 to 10 on LG V50?
Any help is appreciated.
Finally found LGUP 1.16.3 Patched and tried to flash V500N20b (android 10) on my LG V50 LGU+ version running on V500N30c (android 11) using upgrade option that seemed successful but it stuck on bootloop after automatic reboot.
Then tried to reboot into download mode again and flash same firmware (V500N20b) again but using refurbish this time and tadah!!!
It now boots normally on android 10
Thanks to @Leronex_1 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...er-w-fastboot-drivers-and-common_dll.4304181/
Hope it could be useful to someone else looking for it...
Hello, it's been a month already but do you have any backup download link of v500n20b firmware for v50 U+ in like gdrive or something? Whenever I download the firmware from LG firmwares site, the download time becomes 1 day after the file gets to 3.20+ GB.
I tried searching for other sites but they just offer the KT and Open variant for v50. Thank you

do you have a tutorial on how I can unlock the booloader of my LG V50 LGU+ running V500N30e software? Because everytime I do "adb reboot bootloader" it just boots like I restarted the phone. I do have the Enable OEM Unlock turned on.
