Restore v20 to 100% Stock (!!even for bricked devices!!) - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

This is a simple method to restore your v20 to stock, I have tried with my bricked H990DS with wrong bootloader flashed.
1. Download .kdz file for your v20 model from the following links. Currently v20 models available are:
F800K, F800L, F800S, H915, H918TN, H990, VS995, H990N and H990DS
H990DS https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h990ds-firmwares/firmwares/
H990N https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h990n-firmwares/firmwares/
https://lg-firmwares.com/
2. Search, download and install LGUP ( LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi ) and a file called LGUP_common.dll
2a. Copy the LGUP_common.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\common (May need to modify folder access right)
3. Search, download and install LG Driver ( LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.1.1.exe )
4. Completely Power off the v20 ( or to remove and put the battery back )
5. Plug the USB end of sync cable to your PC
6. Press and hold "Volume Up"
7. Plug in the USB-C end of sync cable to the v20. The phone will enter download mode (or Firmware Update). Now you can release the "Volume Up".
8. Run LGUP. The program will regconise the v20.
9. At the file path, click "..." and chose the .kdz file
10.Choose "UPGRADE"
11.Click "Start" and wait until the process is complete.
Now we have a safe method of restoring bricked v20. Hope developers can start trying to root without worrying of bricking the phone.
This method is verified on my H990DS. If anybody successfully flash using this method please let us know. Thanks!

Great thread! Just want to add a quick PSA for this:
This may update your phone to the latest firmware which may patchs the current recowvery exploit. While this will unbrick your phone, you should make sure that you have the a firmware below 10i (w/o patch) to flash. If you still have access to TWRP and don't have a 10d firmware for your device, use this instead.

Thanks for the reminder. Actually it depends on what .kdz is available. For H990DS there is actually v10b firmware for download. So after I flash using this method the dirtycow exploit is still there. Take a look at the filename of the .kdz (e.g. 990ds10b_00_OPEN_TW_DS_OP_1125.kdz is v10b released at Nov 25) Seems that versions below v10i are still ok for dirtycow.

Ahh! Nice! Hadn't considered that. I'll update my OP

Darn. Got my hopes up. No VS995 in the list. No T-Mobile and no Sprint either. I don't need it....yet...but I would love to have a restore method for my VS995. Though I've had an LG G3 rooted and flashing custom roms, kernels, and mods for 30 months and never once restored it to stock so perhaps the V20 will be the same

are you using uppercut for the model .dll in LGUP?
i have tried this method a few times over the last week, no luck. but i was pretty rough with my phone to be honest, no backup and tried all the other v20 variant roms.
right now LGUP detects my phone as a US99610D so will not flash the H990DS firmware, tried to edit the kdz in hex editor for name value but it detects the kdz as corrupt now. any experience with this?

so you found a v20 dll file? do you mind posting a link? or how did you get past LGUP picking up v20 as unknown device? or was this not an issue for you?

The LGUP first did not detect the device and asked for driver. So I installed the driver as mentioned in OP. After that i was able to flash the phone with the kdz file.

What do you mean?
If this method worked for you & a few other users, it should probably become a sticky rather than closing the thread...
Unbricking a device & restoring to 100% stock is an important feature to most, so if a few users are having issues we should probably help sort out those issues rather than abandoning the thread...

don't close it off, if it worked for you it should work for others that haven't broken the phone quite as much as me (boot, recovery, aboot and system changed).
the dll looks to be a requirement, perhaps uppercut worked for you prior to you AV killing it. i used it despite the AV alert.
so that part works fine, my phone is detected as version US99610d (files used during root attempt) which prevents me running the KDZ with "Error: KDZ file is invalid. US996 -> H990"
i tried to edit KDZ file to change version from H990 to US996 but this just corrupted the file.
i edited the model in build.prop of a rom and flashed it but it failed to make a difference to LGUP.
in a last ditch effort i restored aboot.img but phone is still detected as 996 instead of 990. but now no more twrp or unlocked bootloader.
any idea what LGUP reads the version info from or how to force it to run a KDZ from a different model?

I tried the link you gave earlier but the program used uses a kdz file. I didn't know which one to use. What are all the files needed on the link you gave ? Which KDZ files are used for each different phone companies of LG G2 ?
I chose to use the download from the link I showed and fixed it from the "LG G2 Stock" folder download by following the instructions.
The link that I posted is the one for Sprint ZV7. Using that it unbricks it and then had to update software from ZV7 to ZV8 to ZVA to ZVC to ZVD. Not it's all updated.

On the flash tool it says to select a kdz file. On the firmware link it shows different kdz files but which one is suppose to be used if it is ?
In the Sprint directory (home > Xda > LG G2 > Stock > Sprint) it shows a .dll file and some zip files. I looked at one zip file and it don't have a kdz file. Is that needed to use that flash tool ?

[Completed] Half Dead LG G2, No use of touch, imei, network

I have been stuck for over a month now and now I am forced to make this thread with the full story:
I bought an LG G2 D802. A few months later I updated it through the LG software update tool. This thing killed my phone. It installed lollipop and I then had these issues:
[1]no imei.
[2]no baseband.(FIXED)
[3]touch is not working properly. It is haywire. It does not respond properly at all and the phone is unusable
[4]no sim usage as no IMEI.
[5] ONLY 16 gb showing as memory available. (FIXED)
I did this. Using OTG to use my phone, I flashed stock d802 ROM (kitkat). This got me to Stock ROM but phone was boot looping. I factory resetted and it started up okay. I then found a way to fix the 16 gb issue by using a droid view guide called : "Your 32GB LG G2 Shows only 16GB Storage Space? Here’s How to Fix the Issue! " This fixed my 16 gb issue. But everything else same... Then I followed a guide to fix ESN but it demanded that the phone be rooted. So I rooted and installed TWRP. But I was not able to fix IMEI. So I then gave up I searched my issue extensively and found a thread (ON XDA) which i cant post here... But its name is: "Strange touch problem after upgrading my lg g2". There I read of other people who had the same issues. This basically happens to refurbished handsets, apparently. There where no proper fixes there. None of the people where able to fix their phones.
Some guy said that check your motherboard and install the software according to the motherboard. I opened the board and found it to be a motherboard of LG D801. No problem. I downloaded D801 software and tried installing with kdz method but it failed. And now so has the tot method. I have downloaded over 20 gbs of different software and roms. ALl of these roms where completely downloaded!! Please help me here...
Its not me only: These threads are after the same issue!!:
1. Name is: (on XDA) "LG G2 No IMEI, Touch not Responding After Update" (One person)
2. Name is: (on XDA) "Strange touch problem after upgrading my lg g2" (MULTIPLE people withe SAME issue)
I am not an advanced android guy but I can follow directions and I have adb, root, twrp, qpst set up.

I agree that I should install tot of d801 . But the install fails. I tried using the LG_UP 974 dll file but that does not work too! The error is alwasys wrong model number. The TOT method works for d802 roms.
I am wondering. Should I flash a kernel of d801?

It's unlikely you'll hard brick the phone. You've already put the D802 firmware on a board that you've confirmed is D801.
I had wrong firmware and subsequently lost the IMEI. I flashed the right one firmware (after modifying TOT because of model mismatch error), and the IMEI came back.
Isn't your phone pretty much useless already? I think the steps I described above is pretty low risk. You can find the answer pretty quickly by just doing it

Yes you can. The LGH631 and the LGMS631 are both the same devices essentially, same exact hardware on the same exact network. I don't believe LG Flash tool works anymore, at least not for our phones. I was lucky enough to get Marshmallow through the OTA after reverting back to stock, but when I first got the phone back in October last year the first thing I did was try to root it and bricked it. If you download LG Bridge there's an option for "Update error recovery" on the bottom right of the software update tab and you can sideload a kdz file there.
Here is where you can get USB drivers for the Stylo.
Thank you. Just trying to get this figured out in case Draken is unable to get his zip fixed. I'm currently rooted on 5.1.1 and trying to go to marshmallow
Not a problem. Happy sideloading, but keep in mind that a kdz is a full return to stock and you'll lose everything on internal storage and you'll be setting it up like a brand new phone. Then again if you're going to root it using the guide on here you'll lose all internal storage data anyway so...
Regardless, good luck!

@DrakenFX are you still around? you dont have this phone anymore right? does that mean you wont be able to make a flashable zip of the metro mm kdz that is finally out? heres the link just in case http://www.mylgphones.com/metropcs-...receiving-android-6-0-marshmallow-update.html
just another question to anybody that might know regarding that lg up tool...i just used the lg flash tool to flash back to stock so that i would hopefully get the metro mm ota...well it worked perfectly and i was able to get back to stock just fine, but now i still havent received the ota...so im wondering, if the flash tool worked for me, can i use it to install the metro mm kdz instead of using lg up?

Hey,
LG UP is a new and easy tool from LG Official. It can flash kdz/tot/dz files.
You can use "LG flash tool 2.0.1.5 or above" to flash kdz/tot/dz files.
The LG flash tool 2014 is a tool modified by some one from Vietnam, I did not test it.

LG v10 H901 (with Korean board F600s) Update to 6.0/7.0 without Brick

Salam Everyone!
Today i'm going to post About Lg V10 model which says it is of T-mobile (from boot animation) but when you remove battery it show Model H901 (Made in korea) So it is huge confusion between users of this phone. Let me clear this one first, your phone consist of board same as LG v10 Model F600s so if your lg Bridge shows an update of something like "F600S30D 05.27.2017" dont worry it is saying this according to board requirement (Warning: Never update your phone using LG Bridge otherwise you are going to brick your phone). LGup is best for updating LG firmware’s.
Now let’s come to the point on how to update this model to Marshmallow and Nougat. And one thing Do this step by step as described in steps below (one thing i'm not a developer i just do little internet research and with help of some friends i was able to do it without bricking my device).
This you need is for update is Kdz for Marshmallow and Nougat and LG up Software.
Installing and fixing LGup ‘unkown model’ problem:
I've seen some people complaining about lgup not picking up this model so here is a fix you can do it to make it work:
Download LG up software using all the links given below:
Now do it as I say.
- Install LG UP LAB Ver. 1.10
- Install LG UP Store Ver. 1.14
- Install LG UP Ver. 1.14
- Now most important is this file LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23
(Now here is a Check whether your LGup is installed properly or not scroll through follow the following address and check is there “Common” folder have File “LGUP_Common.dll” If not please try this process again.
Address: C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\Common
And after you are done with installing LGup now time to check if this is working remove back cover of your phone (unplug your phone from USB cable, remove the battery, insert battery while pressing the Volume up button and now plug the USB cable. Your phone will turn on automatically with Download Mode on and yes LGup will recognize your phone immediately without any further delay. Showing Model as “H901”
How to check Phone model using Lg info app:
There is one little check you have to do is… go on play store and download Lg info app install it and check your phone info.
Scroll down and See “Provider Name”: (Now here we will see the exact model number of your phone)
- If it shows SK Telecom This means your phone model is LG F600S aka LG V10.
- If LGT this means your phone model is LG F600L aka LG V10.
- If KTF this means your phone model is LG F600K aka LG V10.
Now after Confirming Model Number Now download the relevant firmware but keep one thing in mind do it step by step don’t try to flash direct Nougat on Lollipop okay this will brick your phone as well.
Updating Marshmallow from Lollipop (6.0 from 5.1.1Stock):
As assumed you have downloaded your concerned firmware (you can do a little search on Google and you will find relevant kdz if you need further just p.m me)
- As I have LG F600S aka LG V10 so I will tell you what steps I used.
- First download F600S20l_00_0503.kdz
Now same take your phone in download mode and let LGup recognize it now Select it under BIN File and (Check the Upgrade option) now press start and It will start upgrading. Leave it for a while and let it complete. Now your phone will turn on without any brick  V10 will download some OTA software updates (as it happened in my case). Check your software Update it will surely say 6.0 
Updating Nougat from Marshmallow (7.0 update):
Download the latest firmware from LG firmware website that says “ 7.x Nougat” in my case it was “F600L30e_00_0517.kdz” (Model F600s)
Do the same as you did while updating to Marshmallow. It will successfully update your phone to latest version. No further complications are there in this step it is so simple.
Some Warnings:
- If you are going to use my technique to update please do it carefully do not skip anything.
- I’m not responsible for any kind of brick phones SD cards. As I said I’m not a developer I’m just like you guys was looking for update my phone and done it will little research and help.
- Do not unplug your phone while LGup is updating your phone.
- I’m not developed any software or any update so it is all online stuff nothing personal: D
- And I’m here to help other please feel free to ask anything form me  I’ll try to help as soon as possible 
You can message me on Whatsap I’ll create a group for help on whatsap as well.

@hapyfaroq as you mentioned, you have flashed Marshmallow F600S20l_00_0503.kdz !!! and for Nougat you flashed F600L30e_00_0517.kdz !!! which are totally different models. could you please recheck if you typed F600L30e_00_0517.kdz istead of F600S30D_00_0510.kdz

Mine is KTF but now running fine on F600L Nougat (and the pcb says it's F600L), not sure what's really happen here. It was H901 Tmo before got bricked.
Thanks @hapyfaroq @runningnak3d for your time & help
Failed several times and gave up with LG UP. So i took my phone to a mobile service center who is good at software flashing. i gave him nougat kdz F600S30D. He converted kdz to dz format and flashed with Octoplus box. my mobile was on 5.1.1 android and directly flashed Nougat. Booted flawlessly and no network problems as well Everything is working just awesome. attached my video of Nougat Overview

Hey what if I have a T-Mobile H901 with VS990 motherboard in it? By the sound of things, I would need to flash vs990's kdz. However, wouldn't Tmobile's h901 kdz work as well? I don't understand how your modem and boot screen img(tmobile) wouldn't be affected by flashing f600 kdz to tmobile phone.

bro as i explained in detail that flashing H901 kdz on phone having different board in it cause it a brick so better to flash such kdz which is compatible with the board.... Be careful double check with your board model. (this is the most important part) Keep that in mind that if you are going to flash some other kdz it will not work and will brick your phone.
i have everything ready but lgup never found the phone as a MODEL.keep saying "unknown model".
i ve checked lg bridge it founds 2 updates (im on 5.1.1) , lgbridge founds both 6 and 7 updates.
i've downloaded the kdz file according to the bridge and and phone provider(tmobile)
but i don't know if i can flash it with LG flashtool besides LGUP.
Because i can not pass "unknown model" issue.

Read the Article carefully it says never update your phone using LG Bridge it will brick your phone, and for kdz please search lg firmware on google and download the relevant kdz as per the model of your Phone's board. Don't waste your time downloading wrong kdz and lg up is hard to setup... keep on searching you will sure find a fix soon. Do a deep google search (as i did) you will figure out what is the problem behind Lg UP

LG V10 T mobile getting too slow
Salam Bother,
I am new to this and I have joined because of my LG V10 as the mobile was working fine and suddenly it became very slow like if I click on any thing It will take about 2 to 3 seconds before opening and also some times mobile stopped responding and screen became black. I wanted to know if it is a software failure or any thing related to hardware? one thing more phone is turning on and there is no issue with network, wifi, camera even I can use any app on it but very slowly.

Bro first of all you need to confirm your phone board model using Lg info app ... you can find it on playstore for free and for lg up do all as i said above then turn off your phone remove the battery... plug in the usb cable... now install the battery while pressing volume up button it (make sure you lg up software is running) then your phone will directly go into download mode and Lg up will sure recognize your phone model but first of all confirm your phone's board model.

LG G7 KDZ file

Hey everyone!
I captured the initial KDZ for the G7, and it's linked below. I can't seem to extract anything from it using the usual tools, however -- it just errors out.
G710TM10d_00_TMO_US_OP_0525.kdz
Also, fastboot flashing unlock_critical seems to work, kinda. No warning dialog, immediate reboot and userdata wipe without nag screen. Once done, however, getvars still says locked and still can't flash anything.
That format is too big, trouble you first unpack and pass it to Google Drive Thank you, I want the wallpaper inside

Please upload it to "Google Drive". This link cannot be used in China.

LG Up is a software suite capable of quite a bit..unfortunatly not if not used correctly..this is a easy phone to customize..however..it's a bit of a handful if it's screwed up..
Start by finding a thread in the forum..try the V10. That used to have a lot of useful how to guides.
G710TM10d_00_TMO_US_OP_0525.kdz
This is for the T-Mobile version of the G7 ThinQ for the US running Oreo Production that was released on May 25th.
To help expand the list of KDZ files for this model, please explain how you accessed this file? Did you run WireShark and follow the packet flow then rebuild the file from the packets? Are you a T-Mobile tech???
I have a new in the box G7 tmobile. I don't know how to pull a kdz from it. Anyone know of a guide? Is there a dll for lgup for the G7 yet?
Still searching for a System DUMP here. Anyone?

no , it seems like the way a dz file works changes a bit , i got the dll out of the 10b kdz , and the boot.img dump etc ive used for twrp etc from autoprime, so you cant exztract the dz for now unless you update the tools yourself
You need new LGUP 1.15 or higher to successfully flash and/or advanced dump new devices like LG G7 or LG V35...
still not leaked
