app launch speeds are great, no issues

Apps launch instantly... nothing to criticize there.

I hope honor used ufs for even more speeds.

for a sec  ok, I don't mind. This Z918 has two processors off, and CPU rarely gets over 50%. No, the problems I see, mainly I/O, memory, the virtual SD card, & complicated rooting, can be laid at the feet of the AndroidOS & ZTE. Can't wait for VMware to step in and regularize things with VMs. And they are hard at work on it, fyi.

Scrolling smoothness

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Sony Xperia XZs under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".

I sometimes detect lags, but this is largely due to the stamina mode perhaps, and chained with the battery drain issues.
smooth as fluid .
I have the same issue with Chrome since it has been updated some days (< 1 month) before. There are also comments from other users which basically says the same. Haven't tried other browsers yet.

Right the way my friend.
if the battery saver is on then scrolling smoothness doesnt work properly!
also apps like messenger, snapchat having unrestricted network acess makes device slower (ingeneral)
so it what other apps are heavily consuming network and/or processor

So... what can I possibly do to even come close to using 8GB of RAM on the OP5? I had 3 games running yesterday and came to 1.8GB lol

plently of ram, no issues with multitasking
I can switch from one app to another in 1 second or lower... RAM is 4 GB... it's enough... can open 15 apps and don't feel any decrease in speed.
Very smooth multitasking. Can open Temple run and facebook and the same time with no lags.
Buttery smooth..multitasking is really smooth.
4 GB is ok!
Is not refresh 6 games and 8/10 apps is nice.
I have the 4GB model of the Honor 9 and the RAM is very good. Can run plenty of apps at the same time, and launching apps is very fast.

Did you checked already? See, there are some apps that can check the speed of your internal and external memory. Search for it and do some test

Yeah writes seem to be slower as a whole but that shouldn't hinder UI fluidity that much as read speeds are pretty good overall.

HW Mate 20 has same story before, but it's fixed by software update. i guess we can report this to realme to improve it.
