Here is a link to battery packs that they will have:

Th real question is will they support the faster charging for Type-C connectors.

I hope so, I have 2 Anker QC 2.0 battery packs now (I and a third one but sold it with ym Zenfone) so I'm happy to get some more battery packs. They are great for when you travel or when I goto class and I'm there for 12-14 hours and don't want to find an outlet.

Anker's launching usb type c devices, which will fast charge as per the spec for the N6P. QC is nothing to do with it.

This has huge potential as the usb c spec allows for 100w so if that's used to charge the battery it should charge super fast allowing you to fill a 15000 mah battery real quick! My only concern will be price.

I don't think any battery pack will charge at the full 100W standard. The Chromebook Pixel only uses 60W to charge so I doubt the battery pack will use over 20W. Heat is an issue when charging at such high rates so there needs to be some form of balance. The Nexus 6P seems to be limited to 15W judging by the charge its too bad QC 2.0/3.0 aren't supported because I have a ton of QC 2.0 chargers and batteries.

For clarity I'm saying the pack itself should charge at max rates which would allow a 15000 mah pack to charge in an hour or so vs the 3-5 hrs they take now.

There are battery packs that support fast charging of the battery pick itself. I have an Aukey one that does and it charges in 2 hours for a 10000mah pack. I haven't really timed out but it's fast from what I've seen.

Just a heads up... I have the older Anker 2nd Gen Astro E3...

I just tried my 2nd gen E4 and with the usb a-> c cable that came with the 6p and it only does slow charging

I hope they do USB-C fast charging but also have a port to do regular QC2.0 from so I only need one battery pack for my two devices.

That's bit rapidly, my 5x says the same thing pulling 420ma to 1.5A. It's a bug and I've tried 3 aftermarket cables on 6 chargers even one that can output 5V 4A and a A to C cable won't hit above 1.7A even with my phone at 3%battery

Here is an updated status on the battery packs:
Thanks for writing back.
We are very sorry to inform you that due to manufacturing challenges, the USB Type C external battery has been postponed, the delivery date will be next month and you should be able to order it on Amazon in the first week of Nov.

So you plug it in and turbo charging is displayed on your screen?
It's doesnt say "turbo charging" but (could be my imagination) it seems to charge faster than a regular charger. for the price its cheap, has done me good so far. owned it a month now.
http://www.amazon.com/KMASHI-15000m...id=1455681106&sr=8-1&keywords=kmashi+15000mah
That charger is 5v 2.1A =10w of charge
Turbo charger defaults on 9v 2.85=25w of charge
ChoeTech 15600mAh power pack works. The phone shows turbo charging.
The key is to have the battery pack off before connecting the phone and then turn on the pack after the phone is connected.
One of the LED will turn green to show that it's QC and the phone display will show 'turbo charging'.

The Perfect Battery Bank for a 6P

Hey XDA,
I have issues with buying technology because I am always looking for zero compromises. Been holding off on a battery bank for the 6P because i haven't found "the one"....
Wondering if anyone has seen any battery banks that meet all/most of these criterion:
USB C 3A Input/Output
Passthrough charging (charge the phone and battery bank in series)
6000 mAh or higher

Great find man! I been looking for something like this. Now if I can only find out if the 18650's are replaceable! Does it look like this box has screws to easily disassemble it ?
the battery pack i'm waiting for (hopefully not forever) is something with 3a fast charging that is more pocket friendly than anker/ravpower ~8000 mAH+
I bought this recently and its working great.

Not only does it support fast charging via USB C, it uses the USB C port to charge itself as well. This means the battery bank charges in about 3 hours which is quite fast for a 10000mah pack. With a full charge, I can charge my 6p twice.

I second this pack. It's a bit on the bigger side, but the added capacity is really helpful when you have to go off the grid for an extended period of time (read international flights), and the extra weight isn't that obvious if you just throw the pack in your backpack or purse, for our lady friends out there.
As for the screws, I don't think it has, and the 18650s aren't supposed to be replaceable either. But heck, the cells are of exceptionally high quality and rated up to 500 cycles, so you don't really have to worry about them going bad.

I just picked up the same, and I'm impressed so far. It came with a carry bag and 3 cables: A to Micro, A to C, & C to C. Capacity is 20,100 mAh.

Dear friends,
Could you please share your experience with power banks so far? I'm looking for some to buy soon...
I bought the Xiaomi Power Bank Pro. It does have a USB type C socket.
Unfortunately that socket is to charge the power bank itself, so connecting the 6P via the USB type C actually drains the phones battery and charges the power bank from the phone. :-o
It does come with a USB A to USB C cable, but it does not quick charge the 6P.
Thanks for your answer, I've read that pressing POWER button on the bank while connecting to the phone could launch charging via USB-C socket - did you try it?

O recently ordered the RAVpower 20,100mAh 3.0 one as there was a $10 off coupon code, but can understand the desire for something smaller and more pocket-able.

So what are the differences between the Anker and the RAVpower?
Do they both support being charged at 5V/3A?
EDIT: That pocket-able one is kind of tempting - shame it isn't a more reputable brand
The RAVpower unite I ordered does both USB-C 5V 3A and Quick Charge 3.0 the Anker unite seemed not to (not even sure it did either, must where QC 2.0).

Although the Huawei P9 lite can receive two amps and 10 watts of power from a charger, Huawei includes only a one amp and five watt power supply with the P9 lite, which results in rather slow loading times.

This is what I keep seeing in the log: https://github.com/Meticulus/androi...rivers/power/hisi/coul/hisi_coul_core.c#L2634
What I am seeing and measuring is that mine, the 3GB dual sim model, max current draw is 1.08 Amp.
This is the max the device will charge at no matter what if you connect a quick charge ... even a nuclear powerplant that can provide a billion Amps at 5V as long as the kernel or charging circuit is like now. A bit painful but I find the battery life to be good. Good enough so it won't be a deal breaker.
I've had phones that died while using the GPS in the car and on a charger, this one doesn't if you use a quality charger and cable.

Pixel + QC3

I'll start off by pointing out that my HTC and JDB QC3 chargers "rapid charge" my Pixel C.
I then direct you to step 10 where iFixit found silicone for quick charge 3 https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Pixel+XL+Teardown/71237
I have to wait for 2 more days to test it, but I'll bet the Pixel can rapid charge at least at 5v3a via QC3 accessories
I sort of doubt this. The SD810 on the 6P had QC built in, yet it did not work. I believe this will be the same case.

Wow, never thought to do this. I've had a Kill-a-watt device for YEARS and have hardly used it... great idea!
Why would you want to charge it with QC 3.0? 18W=18W no matter what standard is used to transfer the power. We shouldnt support QC as it is not compliant with the superior USB PD Standard.

Do all the anker cables fast charge it?
Cables have to be Power Delivery (PD) compatible and not Quick Charge (Qualcomm).
It's not always clear what the standards are for cables and Anker sell both types. I always buy Anker and had to go through this recently.
These are the ones I choose Anker Powerline + C to C https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06Y25Y6WX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are the ones I choose Anker Powerline + C to C https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06Y25Y6WX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've had similar spec in the past and these are reliable and tough cables!

I actually need a usb type-a to type-c cable to be used along with a powerbank like this one, so this powerline+ cable should be fine. Also, this configuration is not going to fast charge my pixel because of the absence of PD protocol, right? Which speed do you think I could achieve? Thank you

It'll probably be 5v/2.4a speed so 12w. I do this for overnight charging.

Cable doesn't look PD, note where it says in product description "Compatible Devices (limited charging speeds)" it includes Google products all of whom are PD.
Your line for Powerbank doesn't go anywhere useful but again Anker are very bad at describing their products tech specs accurately.
So 5W charging, slow but OK for overnight charging, not great if you're on the go.

I hope you meant 5V, as the user above said. 12W are not that bad. By looking at the output of the original pixel 4 XL wall charger,it is stated as 3A at 5V or 2A at 9V. I suppose the last one is related to the PD protocol which increases the voltage to 9V in order to reach 18W (not sure here). If all I said is true, it should be able to receive 2.4A at 5V.
Could someone please confirm or confute that?
Just a quick update. I'm currently trying charging my pixel with the above-mentioned anker powercore and a usb-a to usb-c cable bought at a dollar store (working at up to 3A) and the current detected by the Ampere app is hovering around 1.5 A. Doing the math, it is just 7.5 w so rather disappointing. The system predicts a charging time of about 2h going from 15% to 100%.

You should do actual charging times for measurement. Even if Ampere was accurate (It's not as accurate as something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT8MC3N/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_1St6DbZRKJP9W) the 7.5w wouldn't be consistent from 0-100%. For example, the stock charger consistently does 5-80% in 60 minutes. See how fast/slow it is compared to that.

Next time I'll check the charging time. Anyway it went from 15% to 99% in about 2h and 15min.

Sounds about the same as my 5v/2.4a wall charger.
