[Q] Problem with photo flash - halo effect - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hallo to all, this is the first time I write here and I hope you can help me.
I am an happy owner of Honor 6 L04 version (European) but I have a problem with the photos: every time I use flash (inside or outside in the dark), the photo have a white halo on bottom and on the side. It's an effect like a smoke on the photo, so the flash is unhelpful, rather it ruins the photos.
I think that the problem is a too much strong light, but I cannot imagine that a wonderful and well-finished smartphone like this has a so evident similar problem.
Do you have the same problem? And have you found a solution?
Thanks a lot to anyone helps me and excuse me for my English.

Do you have a case or back cover on your phone?
The problem might be the case cutout is too close to the flash/rear screen guard is improperly fitted.

Thanks for the reply. I have the same problem also without any case.
Don't you have the same problem on your device? Are the photos that you make in a dark location clear?

Yes they are clear. Why don't you post a couple of these photos. Might give us a better idea.

Heart rate not reading? Here is my solution!

Just as a a pre-rac' this technique is not new I actually seen this been done to an athlete in a documentary (bored youtubing' one day). The method was to use to use a clear finger bandage to help a heart rate monitor read faster. I thought to do the same after having the app on the watch reports it wasn't able to read. I just bought 2 Zagg screens, one for the front and the other to cover the heart rate cam and light on the bottom. Now no matter the condition; sweating, moving around, and est, my rate could be read. Problem solved. if this helps you after you try please hit the botton please.
Nice! I bought a set of six screen protectors so I have extras to try this out.

Sorry for the delay. I finally tried this last night. While it does seem that it would help keep the sensor clean, the extra thickness makes it more difficult to put the charger on. I have removed it and will just wipe the sensor more often instead.

To be honest, I cannot see anything faulty with the camera's edge paint. It is supposed to be silver only at the top, whereas on the sides it should be the phone's color, which is the case with you. Maybe a better quality picture would show the problem more clearly, but as far as this photo is concerned I really do not see any problems.

Yeah, I noticed the same bug when I took a photo of my grey sofa today. Strange and irritating.
Hope the camera will soon get updated with a fix.

I've adressed the bug on Lenovo's Motorola one vision forum hoping for a solution/fix.
Check if it doesn't look like G5+ tinted corners. https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/help/red-corner-60fps-videos-t3578606

I had to try it myself after seeing those images from @badadam
I experienced the same thing, and you can even see the purple tint in the view finder without taking an actual photo so it can't be because of some post processing on images.. But it's only concentrated to the middle for some reason.
I got this answer from a support guy on the Lenovo one vision foum:
This looks like a limitation of the hardware under very specific conditions. I suspect attempts to tune it out were determined to cause other side effects, but we will report it.
I´ve now asked if my device has to be returned/swapped if it is a hardware issue or if a future update can fix the problem.
I recieved the following answer to the above question from Lenovo:
Yes, that's what I mean. My personal recommendation would be to use the Night Vision feature, as previously suggested. Flash always leaves some kind of visual variation. Replacing it with a new motorola one vision won't make a difference.
I then took the attached photo (taken with night vision, indoors, not in low light) and sent it as reply asking if it is a general problem with the one vision or I and others that have experienced the problem have faulty devices.
I am tempted to returning/swapping the device in the hope of the latter.
Otherwise I will probably return the device to buy another phone. Which would be sad as I am otherwise very satisfied with the one vision. But I can't live with a phone that can't take perfect indoors photos.
That's only last update
This is before update.
Only SW issue

Display - some kind of Anomaly?

Aloha Folks!
I bought myself a new torchlight with an UV-Light and was fooling around with it until I finally pointed it on my Poco F2 Pro Display and saw something very odd.
I pointed the same light on different phones (Honor View 10, Samsung S10) and only the Poco has had this Display anomaly.
To everyone, who has a UV-Light, could you check your Poco? When every Poco has the same issue, then it's some kind of feature yet unknown or maybe it is something completely different?
Thank you all.
Despite this odd "feature" my Display works like a charm and has no problem with bleeding or contrast or whatever you might think of. Because of that this is really bugging me. What could it be? The screen protector glas is not the problem. I removed it and checked again. It stays the same.

1. Always on display

Re-uploaded the photos.

There seems to be a problem with picture-attachments lately on xda. I had that too when I posted something two days ago. pictures weren't showing.
Try to upload the pictures on an external file/image -hoster and paste the direct links to them here.
I just need to get an uv light and I'll let you know
Yes! i also noticed this on my F2 i thought it was the tempered glass doing this
Did not notice this but another thing. Sometimes in sunlight you can see the fingerprint scanner(small rectangle) shimmer through.

No clue, I guess it's something to do with the under-display fingerprint scanner.
Yeah but that's waaaay to big for just the fingerprint scanner. It's all over the display.
I even mailed Xiaomi and asked them what it is, but since now no answer.

Yours looks okay but it does look like to have a slight whiteish hue when my screen is very bright.

Does not look at obvious but I am pretty sure it is a hardware defect. You should just return it and get another unit, maybe even get the Fold 3 and not the Flip 3

I don't know. I replaced my unit and the new one still has is, but it's much better than the first. It's impossible that all three sensors are faulty on 2 different phones. Or maybe extremely bad luck.
300 people looked at this thread and only one of them the was willing to take a picture to see if this is software or hardware. They just don't care or don't know how to take pictures, maybe.

It's also possible they are busy with other things and didn't see the value in posting "haven't noticed" but hopefully calling them ignorant will get better results.
Haven't seen anything like the first picture, but the second two seem fairly normal.
Using night mode will tend to increase the effect. Unfortunately, this isn't an S21 / Note 20 Ultra that has the "top of the line" image processing software, so it tends to make a less effective attempt to improve the image. If you watch carefully, you will see the image capture with "proper" white, but then process and appear with a hue. You only have an instant to catch it, but you can see it happen.

Sure. Everyone is busy. They don't need to post "haven't noticed". Just post some sample photos. The time that takes someone to write a useless replay, like yours, could be used to take a picture instead.

I'm not bashing anyone. I'm always willing to help if I see someone on xda that needs help and I got the knowledge. This problem doesn't require any knowledge. Anybody can take a picture, as long as they have this phone. I was ironic when I said "maybe they don't know how to take pictures", just because of that.
This thread has been up for 7 days and you say everybody is busy. Day, night and the weekend. But they still got time to be on xda.
Thanks for editing your first replay with some useful stuff, but I see pink on viewfinder also, not just after the processing. Like I said, I already replaced my unit and this is much, much better, almost a non-issue, so I don't care about this for myself. I see there are others that are starting to see this problem. That's why I insisted on this matter. Not my intention to offend anyone.

There is a difference between having time to be on xda reading and having the time and conditions to take a low-light photo that they are willing to post on a public forum. You also have to consider that some of the traffic isn't even device owners. They are considering the device and interested in the issues or saw the thread in "NEW POSTS" and read it just out of curiosity.
Low light (and night mode) mode attempt to use the available light to adjust the picture. That can also mean the image inherits the tint of the light. Samsung has come a long way with low light photos, but they threw all that away and went back a generation releasing this phone. It will probably improve as they start to backport the new improvements to the old sensors.
