What Bluetooth Keyboard? - Nexus 9 Accessories

Not going to pay out for Googles keyboard. Haven't used one on a tablet - what are your bluetooth keyboard suggestions?

Not sure if I want to pull the trigger

I use this one on my Nexus 10. And it will probably work perfectly for the N9 too. I'm suspect Kensington may make one sized for the N9, but the one for 10" tablets will only provide more outer protection for a smaller tablet.
The N9 keyboard is not like the Asus Transformer Keyboards, which were built especially for that specific model of tablet. The N9 keyboard is just a bluetooth keyboard. There's no shortage of them on the market and any should work fine.

I would recommend you the Filco MiniLa Air Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard

What's the difference? I can't tell?

1 link, 2nd picture shows that the keys are smaller to have more space for the hand to rest on the keyboard, the 2nd link, first picture is this missing, but bigger keys

Well, there's one big problem with these cases. They cover both speakers. Beats me, why they didn't account for this, when designing the thing.
Great looking covers though.

Yeah, looked at that one too, but I guess I decided that I didn't like the round keys. Also I saw in an interview that it is quite heavy and there for not ideal for using it as a note taking tool in class.

I bought my Periboard 804 from Perixx and used it heavily about two years with my N7.1. It works like a charm!

I actually got it about a week ago, using it with my N7 while I wait for the N9 to ship. I really like it, yes it's heavy and not really meant to be taken around everywhere, but it's surprisingly sturdy and I think the extra heft will help with keeping the N9 in place when it's docked into the keyboard. Using it to type this post right now

As I'm going to use my N9 for taking notes in class, I'm gonna need a lighter keyboard to carry around. So really considering the one from Microsoft

Speaking of using this in class, I've got the N9 and keyboard case pre-ordered but I'm debating the utility of it vs a smaller Windows notebook or convertible. Any thoughts on this?

I'm going to order this and keep my order on the Magic case. Much cheaper than $130

Now we seen the TF2, is there a new dock too?

Now we seen the TF2, is there a new keyboard dock too? I'm thinking about getting a dock but if there is a new thinner one, ill wait. Wonder if it will fit a TF1.
I simply don't see how they could have a thinner tablet but still fit the first dock. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
That's a good question too. So if there is a thinner dock and thinner TF2, will the old thicker TF1 fit the thinner dock? If there is a new dock?

:/ new dock
ASUS always said it'd be compatible. It'll just look ugly when connected I guess. But the new Prime is super slick and thin. Best to just sell and rebuy.
That silver metal finished tablet, with the brownish dock will look like , well.... ummm... better buy the new one
The new transformer looks great... Better color than the original.

Well, I don't agree. I still think the bronze color of the TF1 looks great because it makes the TF look nothing like other tablets. I just hope they don't make the TF2 look like other tablets.

That thin = easy to break would be my guess. Although it hasnt materialized with the ipad or the Samsung. Its not like most people are snapping them in half, its broken glass, which will happen on a thin or a thick tablet.
I've gotta say, if the TF Prime works with the current dock, I'll be buying one the first day. I couldn't care less if it doesn't match--I'm not terribly worried about being arrested by the fashion police.
Really, what makes me hesitate in buying the Prime is the though of needing not only the tablet but also another $150 on a dock. Take that away, and suddenly I can justify things a little better.
That said, I don't actually think the dock will be supported--I remember Asus saying awhile back that they received a number of complaints about the docking mechanism (which I've never understood) and so were going to redesign it. I don't know how they could change the mechanism and still support the original dock, but we'll see...

Yeah, it's unlikely I'll be upgrading if the existing dock isn't supported, either. I could care less about thinner, so the TF2's advantages (faster, and *maybe* a better camera since they bothered to add an LED flash) would be outweighed by its disadvantages (new docks means added expense, and now it's not only a reflective fingerprint magnet on the front, but on the back as well.)
I wonder if the new dock includes a built in battery?
They read it reportedly has a 14.5 hour battery life, but it didn't mention it that was docked or undocked. If that batter life is docked then a guess it a small trade off for thinness. If it's undocked I could see the dock not needing to have a battery (of course a dock that add an additional 10 hours would be really nice too).

Yeah, the base becomes slippery when you raise the screen. Maybe if they would have used rubber on the feat instead of hard plastic it would have been better.
Pure math :
TF1 : 12.98mm thick AND TF2 : 8.3mm thick = Different dock

I heard 16.5 hours docked clearly, but couldn't quite make out 8.5 hours by itself. Not sure where everyone got 14.5 hours as is being reported, because I definitely didn't hear that.

Bluetooth sliding kb for iphone4

Has anyone ever tried to use one of these sliding bluetooth keyboard cases for iphone4 with their android? I know droids won't fit in it, but will it pair and function?
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Sliding-Keyboard-Rubberized/dp/B0052CHOS2
It looks like a really nice portable kb option...just snap off the curved corners and a droid might sit in there nicely. Can't beat the $20 price tag.
Don't mean to upset you or anything, but I would prefer this one over that:
Flexible Bluetooth Waterproof Keyboard
Its on amazon at 29.99 instead of regular 79.99. So even from price point, I think this would be more useful cos we can use it with multiple devices. But yes, def. not as portable as the one you mentioned.

That is a full keyboard, lol. I like the small iphone 4 one better, im tempted to do actually get one and snap off the corners.
I'm not upset, but I know how a-lot of people around here can have hissies over nothing.
I've have played with those flexible keyboards and I'm not crazy about the smooshy keys. More interested in something tiny and cheap that I can bang out text with my thumbs. Thanks for the suggestion though. That one isn't bad for the $.

Prototype: Qi Charging Dock made of steel (nano suction)

Update 16-10-13: Pictures of the new prototype
Hi,
I’d like to know your opinion about my current prototype of a Qi Charger. Your feedback would be helpful for me, before I spend more money and time on improving the station.
I started developing this along with my first dock AnDock, but I stopped because I wanted to focus on AnDock first.
The main features of this docking station are:
-Wireless charging
-made of steel, so it’s heavy and stable (More typical for a German engineer then 3d printing )
-Nano suction, so it grips the phone in every position
Thank you,
David
Gotta say: this looks really cool. I probably wouldn't end up buying it (unless its <30€), but not because there's something I dislike about it, but I'm just a poor student
I really like the idea though, and the design is nice and minimalistic as well. One large question from people would probably be if it works with a case, and if so, with which cases (I assume it would need a smooth back?)
Pretty nice... perhaps some type of rubber on the bottom, so it will not slide on slippery surfaces like glass.

Hi there David!
I an really happy to see someone is trying to make a decent (actually, from the prototype photos, I would say more than decent) WiFi stand. I just wonder how easy/difficult is to put and remove the phone from the stand?

The station is quite stable because it is made of steal and therefore a bit heavy. So it's really easy to put and remove the phone.

Thanks for the fast answer! Can you reveal any of the specs? Just how heavy is the base? Is it possible to take the phone off with one hand? Also, the micro suction material looks quite interesting, what is it?
I like that it is essentially a universal stand (works with all Qi compatible devices) and I hope the price will be good

At the moment it's just a prototype. So I am still testing different materials and Qi-Chargers.
Depending on the final size the weight could be up to 1 kilo (probably less). This prototype weighs 300 gramm, but I think I make it a lit bit bigger so it will work with all kinds of tablets as well.
You can definitely take the phone off with one hand. The pad is similar to this one, but I am also still testing different materials. You can also take the pad off and wash it or change it.
So if you know a really nice nano suction pad, rubber or qi-charger just tell me about it
The Dock will be cheaper than the official Google charging orb (60 Euro).
Looks cool! I remember your andock project was pretty interesting too. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Best of luck!

It's not possible to place the nfc-tag directly on the qi charger but I will see what I can do. It's still an early prototype. I'm also thinking of making the station round and maybe with a kind of changeable mechanical hold. Those nano suction pads are still not perfect and you must clean them from time to time.

The nfc chip didn’t work properly for me, because of the electric field of the qi charger. What kind of nfc chips are you using on your wireless charger?
Hi,
Any news on this project ?
When should it be available (approximately ?).
What is the expected price tag ? 10-30 ? 30-50 ? 50-75 ? 75 and up ?
Hope to hear from you soon as I am looking for a Qi charger that works well and is nice... most of them do neither #1 nor #2 !
Regards.

I hope the end product won't be angled. Could cause problems with a case. Less looks superb! This is a look everyone will like.

I successfully had amazon price match mine and received it today. At $130 I was very buyers-remorse-y, but $87 seems really fair. I'm typing on it right now and it's a solid piece of kit. I wish it was backlit, but the magnets are strong, and found it will actually support it in 3 angle configurations. I'm pretty happy with it overall. Just wish they had opted for dedicated home/back/ recent as opposed to the 2 awfully large emoji keys, but c'est la vie.
Not any more
Must have been a bad Price by HTC.
It's back to $129, even with a Prime account.
For those that got it.... Lucky You!
Correction... $125.18
