Any Dev working on a new roote method for the ota 003 build? - Thrive Android Development

Im curious if anyone here in XDA is working on a new root access since the OTA 003 build broke root. I know Dale from thrive forums is working hard on trying find a way around it.
I was hoping he is not the only Dev interested in developing the Thrive

[Q] Just received my US Transformer... do I dare update?

Updating fixes stuff, but may be harder to root.... should I update or wait until it's rooted and update via roms? Ahhhh!
I believe that a root method has already been found for the newest update.

I thought root was not possible on US version atm. But you mean there are already a root for the newest update on US? Guess I need to look through the Dev section more indepthly.
it's in the original root thread.
Oh sick, thanks! I thought that was only for UK version, silly me.

[Q] Perma-Temp root that sticks for Sesation and EVO 3D. Maybe for Shift too?

Would this, possibly work for the Shift?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159306
I don't know Android well enough to know if this is at all helpful/useful for us Shift owners. I come from WebOS land and only got my first Android phone a month or so ago.
Just use shift gui it checks for the correct bootloader and everything
mikshifted g!
I think op was asking if this could root ota or gb stock roms.

Someone tried this method without modifying the files and got a device error. Maybe the files can be modified to work on the shift....

yes, i was one of those who foolishly accepted the OTA Gingerbread and lost root. I'm new to Android and didn't know any better. OTA updates don't wreck the equivalent of root on WebOS devices, which is where I'm coming from.

Ok Dude...I was so Drunk when I thought of this. Get the Sprint Downgrade tool A.K.A RUU TOOL. Use it it will Downgrade you to 2.2 or 2.1 IDK. Then go ahead and Re-Root

That's been tried. I think the problem is the OTA changed the hboot so the ruu image is incompatible.

Any way to tether from EVO 3d?

Got an unrooted Asus transformer and was wondering if anybody has been able to tether from their EVO 3d. there are issues with WiFi tether on the EVO 3d so curious if anybody found a work around. Tried barnacle tether but the Asus doesn't recognize adhoc.

Why don't you post this on the EVO 3D forum? Any tether from EVO 3D should work. My friend uses the EVO 3D and downloaded http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...tail?name=wifi_tether_v3_1-beta2.apk&can=2&q=
it works for him. Stock ROM + kernel + root

Full rooted with Revolutionary. And yes it doesn't matter if you took the OTA or not.

It's possible that taking the ota may have an affect. A lot of other people unable to connect either. Can you tell ne what kernel is being used on the EVO as I'm wondering if the kernel has changed with the updates. Again I appreciate your help.

Idk. I don't use the EVO 3D. You should really refer to the EVO 3D XDA forums for more assistance with getting the tethering to work.

[Q] After 2.3.5 Gingerbread updated firmware... how to root???

I'm absolutely happy with the 2.3.5 BUT i some how lost access to my SuperUser.. Does anyone know what additional software to root 2.3.5 gingerbread for Samsung Infuse? I would deeply appreciate the help
You can't root 2.3.5
As far as I know, the only way you can root 2.3.5 at the moment is to install JordanElliott's 2.3.5 rom (UCKJ1). You'll need clockworkmod rom manager to flash the rom and then the stock kernal to fix the wifi. It was relatively painless.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297693
So wait, did we get an Official 2.3.5? I'm somewhat confused.

I haven't seen anything about an official release. The latest leak makes it seem like we are really close though since it includes a bootloader.
I'm sure when the sources are released and the real update is out everyone will know

A. look for threads with titles about the firmware toy are running, b. look for threads about issues rooting, c. How are you running 2.3.5? Did you flash it? Did it get pushed to your phone? Did you buy it like that? Did you buy it new?
If you flashed it with Odin and can't figure this out or find the answer i'm in awe, the answer is in every leak thread so far but the question keeps coming up.
Use SuperOneClick v2.2 and use zergRush as the exploit.
Heck...where dud u get 2.3.5? I want it..lol...yea SOC works good...

i got it from a guy on youtube, type in "Tutorial-samsung infuse" an its an indian fella doing a walkthrough and has the links for it. BUT i cant root my phone because of the update... I tried the zergrush with superoneclick and it locked up on my computer.
ANY suggestions
OK I saw the video.
1. This is not an official update.
2. This is a leaked firmware.
3. Try using super one click on a different PC.

Are you on the roger's networks...?
Use doomlord's zergRush exploit from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
It takes a little time but eventually works!!
Used on 2.3.5 downloaded from samfirmware

The Infuse was not listed as one of the supported device.
Did you try this on the infuse?
Which gb leak did you try it on?

[Tool] HTK55D.31.5.0002 US UC 3.2.1 OTA Root

OK folks. We have been working on and have achieved root of the HC 3.2.1 OTA that removed fastboot. We have been able to restore the bootloader with fastboot and root the OTA. So, if you want to root your Thrive and have loaded the HC 3.2.1 OTA, go to ThriveForums.org and go for it.
You Rock!

Any chance that we Thrive owners will see ICS update????
I think we will. No reason to think otherwise.
If Toshiba wants to keep me as a customer with future products they will update to ICS. Better yet Cyanogen 9 would be better. I did root my thrive and got rid of a lot of bloat with titanium running pretty smooth. Little lag here and here.

I see that Toshiba is bringing out a new Tablet call the Excite. I am sure that this will have ICS. I hope they don't alienate us Thrive owners!!!!!!
Their website specifically says the Thrive is update able to ICS.
