Stop the nag about Google Assistant reminders migrating to Tasks? - General Questions and Answers

I'm getting Google nags 3 X daily about the migration from Google Assistant reminders to Tasks. I already use Tasks and if I set a reminder via Assistant it appears at Tasks. Still get 3 nags a day to check my settings to make sure Assistant reminders appear in Tasks. Others, same experience? Any way to stop the water torture?

To stop receiving these reminders, you can try disabling notifications for the Google Assistant app or adjusting your settings within the app.

That seems a bit nuclear. I only want to disable that -one- specific nag notification from coming 3 X daily, for weeks. A. To Google, that level of intrusion isn't necessary and B. I found an app that can squash individual specific notifications from reappearing. 'TidyPanel'.

Double notifications / mystery notification

I have a Samsung Charge, and I have noticed that every time I receive a new GMail message, I get two notifications.
I started turning off various notification sources, but I still get an audible ring & phone vibration whenever a new GMail message arrives.
Where is the mystery / duplicate notification coming from?
Thanks,

Which notification sources have you turned off?
The GMail app has its own notification source. And, I *think*, you can set it per account (not sure).
There is also Sound setting Notifications, not sure if GMail leverages that or not.
Are you using any third-party email applications?

I have my GMail set for "Email Notifications" disabled. I would think that would be enough to prevent getting GMail notifications.
I also have ADW Notifier installed, but it doesn't really have anything about displaying notifications other than the number bubble. Regardless, I uninstalled ADW Notifier, and didn't see any difference.
I also have K-9 Mail. I turned off all notifications on that, and also saw no effect. K-9 doesn't even interface with my GMail, so I don't see where it would make a difference anyways.
I don't have any other apps that should be associated to my mail programs.
Bump.
I have found that I only get the "Notification That Can't Be Killed" now just with new GMail messages. No other "mystery" notifications are occurring.
To see if I could fix this, I started using the TouchWiz Email application to consolidate all my email accounts, including GMail. I got rid of my K-9 mail app.
Now, I get a silent GMail notification from the TouchWiz Email app (which is what I want), but it seems like I still get an audible default notification tone from Google's GMail application whenever new GMail arrives.
I can't figure out why the GMail app Notifications are occurring. I think I have them all disabled, but I must be missing something ...
Please help ...

I have found one solution to fix this problem, though it shouldn't be necessary:
I purchased "Bloat Freezer", and "froze" the Google Gmail system application.
I'm curious (though, I didn't see many responses to this thread), has anyone tried turning off their GMail notifications in the Google GMail app?
I am wondering if turning off GMail Notifications even works on the SamChg.
I'll try later this evening when I'm not at work.
I actually always run my phone in silent mode, I am kind of against ringtones, chimes, etc. and thus have never had any issues with Gmail notifications because I've never needed to really turn them off.
I'll report back.

Thanks, burningembers! I'll be interested in what you find out.
BTW, I don't know if this is important, but I am running the Debloated v.4 ROM.
Sent via my Borg implant over the VZW network.
I have another nugget of information on this problem.
I unfroze the GMail application, and set my SamChg to sync my GMail again. However, in the GMail application, I set a different notification tone than the default notification.
Now, when I receive a new GMail, I get 2 audible notifications: One for the newly selected notification tone in the GMail application, and a second tone that is my default notification tone. Sometimes, they will play simultaneously.
I'm guessing that undesired, second "default" notification tone is generated as a result of the Google "account sync" itself.
How can I turn this off? And, again - Can anyone test this out for me to see if it is a global problem, or just my configuration?
Thanks!

Jesus... This is pretty darn handy for school.
Testing it now!
very handy...wish this had been around sooner as I bought Tasker and configured a bunch of profiles to serve the same purpose as what this app seems to do much more simply. Looks great
Not bad
How about Touchdown support? That would make this incredibly handy for Exchange users!

Touchdown actually does not sync anything to the device.
since this app read local synced events it can't read Touchdown settings or data (events for that matter).
If you wish to use Exchange calendar you can always sync your exchange account to the device using ActiveSync like this
settings -> accounts and sync -> add account -> Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
once you synced you device this app will be able to read Exchange calendar.
anyway thanks for the advice and ill try to add support for remote Exchange
update:
i added an "add new calendar account " button in settings for those who don't have their account configured
I bought the full version but just can't get it to work.
I went to "Events list" and pressed menu > Update from calendar, and I can see all my events in the list. But it just says "will schedule - event".
Then I go to the "Filters list" and see "all. schedule", yet my phone does not go silent when my events start.
The on/off button is very confusing. When the button is red and says "off", does it mean that it is off, or that I should press it if I wish to turn it off?
Thanks!

Hi.
the on/off button indicate the current state, meaning when the button is green and it's say "on" that mean that auto schedule is enabled
"all schedule" is the default filter that indicate that all events will be scheduled.
please pay attention that even event will be scheduled automatically only if the on/off button is in "on" state.
Pay attention that Calendar Silencer will not schedule events that already in progress, for example if you have event that start in 12:00 and you started the auto schedule in 12:05 the event will not be schedule.
if you enabled notifications please notice that the notification will disappear once the event has started, pressing the notification will clear the notification but also will cancel the alarm
let me know if have any more problems
Still nothing.

What am I missing?
MIUI rom HTC Desire.
*edit*
It was MIUIs fault, thanks for the support Swarly!
The app now works brilliantly! Highly recommended!
fix for MIUI Rom
Disable option Settings>Programs>Calls>Anti wiretapping and it should work
I've been using a different app that seems to have this same feature set, and has been around longer.
How is this better than other competing apps that perform the same functions?

I cant compare these competing apps you are talking about because i don't know exactly what apps are you talking about .
I can answer you this:
before i wrote this app i looked in the market for something that will fulfill these requirements:
easy to use
work with synced calendars like exchange or Gmail calendar
will have to option to fire and forget
i downloaded several apps including paid ones and I couldn't find what i was looking for.
the ones that was simple couldn't work with synced calendars.
and those who could work with synced calendars were overkill ( profile apps that could do almost anything ) were to complicated to operate and demanded a lot of configurations and frustration.
So I decided to do my best to fulfill the goals i wrote to myself and try to keep it as simple as possible .
Because I cant look at every tool/app that exist in the market there may be an app out there that does serve the same functionality , but odds are that it either not do exactly the same or is a lot more complicated then this one.

Swarly
error during level 2
i've been using tasker but recently i starder cleaning my app list and noticed that i was using a mighty appp like tasker for just silencing the phoe when i was "busy" in my calendar.
i found your app which probably does what i want but i got intro trouble with it. i get an error when i try to turn it on (error during level 2) and the app crashes when i want to switch to the events tab (second tab).
also i haven't been able to test the filter option: i just want my phone to go silent when o am "busy" in the calendar - that's it. does the filter option allow for such a setup?
I've been looking for something like this since I first got an android phone THanks!

Unfortunately busy mode is not yet supported in this app but its a good idea i will add asap.
please check the program version I'm updating and fixing bug almost on daily basis.
the current program version is 1.2.24
additionally if you can please report the problem using the report error button so i can have an idea about where to start looking for problems
about the error please let me know what kind of device you have
finally I started my semester and once the courses started i found some bugs and problems with my app
* fixed bug for overlapping event
* fixed bug with contact exception functionality
* minor bugs regarding event scheduling were fixed
I'll publish another big update soon that will be focused on performance.
as promised I released big update
major Performance update - from now list load faster and scroll much smother
overlaping event detection method was changed from the core from now no more false detection that caused problems
added warings to warn users that don't have calendars installed
as always I"m open to new suggestions and improvement ideas

[Q] Calendar Reminders

How do I get reminder notifications on my phone for events that were created through Google Calendar in the browser. The only reminder options in the web app are email and pop up and the reminder options in the Android app are notification and email. I thought setting up pop up reminders in the browser would translate into notification reminders in Android but that doesn't seem to be the case. For the most part I manage my calendars in browser on my pc and just want to get the notification reminders on my phone. Is this possible? I have Calendar set to auto sync in Android and all my calendars are set to sync as well.
On my PC, I just added a test event for 10 minutes ahead with the notification set for 5 minutes. Then I checked that it showed on the phone. On the phone, the notification fired off on time.
Calendar notifications don't work in ICS

I'm dredging up this old thread because ever since my Nexus S was upgraded to ICS the notifications have completely stopped working! It used to work perfectly before the upgrade, but now, no matter how I set them... on my desktop or on the phone... there is no alert, pop-up, or notification of any event on my Google Calendar.
This is a major issue for me as I depend on these alerts. Has anyone else had this issue since ICS? Any ideas how to get it working?? I've tried adjusting all the Settings for notifications, etc.

Tasker with Active Notifications?

I am brand new to Tasker and was wondering if anyone has any experience using Tasker to modify Active Notifications. Here's what I'm looking for:
When I'm at work, I don't want my Active Notifications to show me any work email notifications. That's because I'm always sitting in front of my PC, which will notify me of new emails. Since I'm getting numerous work emails throughout the day, it becomes tedious to clear the work email Active Notifications every time I get them.

Calendar notifications disappearing after 1 hour

Hi guys,
I am facing a strange issue since I installed the latest update on my S7. The notifications for S Planner events, that are shown when you pull down the top menu disappear after 1 hour. It used to stay there until I cleared them out manually.
I also tried Business Calendar 2 pro. Same thing happens there.
This is very annoying as I leave the notifications there until I deal with them and if they disappear I just forget that I was supposed to take care of something.
I was trying to find the setting that is controlling this with no luck. I really hope that this is a matter of setting or a bug.
Could someone help me with this please?
Thank you.
Same here. I have installed Google calendar - the same happens.
Any solutions anyone?
same here.
i also tried google calendar, but it does the same-
the reminders disappear after the event's time is up
====================================================
EDITED - Solution
I found a workaround solution: i installed "Events Notifier for Calendar".
One of the app's features is configuring how a reminder stops: manually stopped, when the event starts or when the event ends.
So now i can still see my reminder notifications, even when they disappear from the calendar notification since their time was up.
Bump. Anyone figure this out yet?
Google search (with quotes): "Samsung or Google Have Screwed Up the S Planner App".
You can try Samsung's alternate UI, "Good Lock"
It has two tabs in your notification pull down where you can store notifications you want to save for later.
