Hi everybody, I have been looking for a way to get an official version of Vanilla Android 14 on the Tab S6 for and wanted to make sure the community finally had access to a fully working and sufficiently detailed guide.
This ROM improves battery life by 200%, it's absolutely insane.
Every source, link or file referenced in this guide is 100% official and safe.
Cheers!
Download Firmware + Extract:
Install SamFirm and download the latest firmware for the Tab S6.
(You will also need to install Visual Studio C++ 8 & 9 for this software to function properly)
SamFirm Tool
Download the latest version of SamFirm Tool, which helps you download the Samsung Stock Firmware (ROM) for free.
samfirmtool.com
Install 7Zip and extract the firmware zip.
Then open the CSC file with 7zip and extract the PIT.
Unlock Bootloader
Enable Developer Options and turn on OEM Unlocking
Disconnect USB/power cables and turn your device OFF
Hold both Volume buttons (do not press Power) and plug in the USB cord connected to your PC
The download/unlock screen should come up immediately. Select the option for device unlock mode.
Download TWRP:
Download the official TWRP and vbmeta image
TWRP > https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs6qcomwifi.html
vbmeta > https://dl.twrp.me/gts4lv/vbmeta.tar.html
Download Official AOSP / Android 14 Image:
The official Android 14 (or 13/12/11) GSI is available on Google's developer page and needs to be extracted via 7zip. (This will also contain a vbmeta.img but disregard it)
(GMS = Gapps | No GMS = Vanilla | FLOSS = Open Source Apps Only)
(Make sure to get a arm64 version) https://developer.android.com/about/versions/14/gsi-release-notes.html
If you prefer the consumer grade "prettier" version of AOSP, you can also download one of the arm64 images provided by phhusson on Github, who exclusively uses official sources code, as well.
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases
You can also download one of the official daily builds directly from the ACI Project's master-branch (Android Continuous Integration) which represents the literal bleeding edge of AOSP straight from Android : https://ci.android.com/builds/branches/aosp-master/grid?
Flashing Firmware with Odin
Download Odin Flash Tool from a safe source.
Odin - Download
Odin: Samsung-Geräte rooten und flashen - Kostenloser Download für ✓ Windows
www.netzwelt.de
Put the Tab S6 in Download Mode by pressing both Volume Up + Volume Down, while simultaneously connecting the USB cable. (The tablet needs to be off)
Open Odin and add the Firmware Files to the appropriate slots
BL > BL , AP > AP, CSC > CSC
Then click on PIT and add the previously extracted PIT file
Lastly click options and select Nand Erase, Re-Partition, while unselecting Auto Reboot
Flashing TWRP & vbmeta with Odin
After successfully flashing hold down Power Button + Volume Down for 7 seconds but be ready to immediately hold down Volume up + Volume Down to re-enter Download Mode.
(USB Cable needs to be connected at all times)
(If you missed your chance and it's booting, hold down Power Button + Volume down to reset and try again)
Once back in Download Mode click Reset in Odin
Deselect Auto Reboot in the Options again
Then add the TWRP image in AP and vbmeta.tar in the CP slot.
Wiping Cache & Partitions
After flashing hold down Power Button + Volume for 7 seconds and immediately hold down Power Button + Volume Up the entire time until you see TWRP.
Once inside TWRP wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache in the Advanced Wipe menu. Subsequently re-enter the wipe menu, select Format Data and type yes.
After this (USB cable still connected) make sure the Internal Storage is mounted and transfer the system.img (extracted from the AOSP GSI zip) to the tablet
Finishing Up
In TWRP click Install, select the system.img and choose system image.
Flash it, Reboot to System and your DONE!

Many, many thanks for this.. If i understand correctly, we can choose the android 13 file which includes gaps, so to have Google services?
Also there must be an error. The pit file is in CSC file and not in AP file.
Il try it, I'll post the results when i do it.
Thanks again!

I just installed it. Working fine. It does have gaps and playstore and it is vanila android, doesn't have samsung ui.
I suppose i can install in twrp magisk to root it.
After i flashed twrp and restarted, it didn't boot in twrp, but all screen had an error message with yellow txt, something about microsd (which i didn't had). I restarted again to boot in twrp, and this time it did boot in twrp, so i did flash image.
Thanks again!

Anyone knows how to root it?
After flashing system image from android 13, twrp is deleted as i understand. Trying to boot in recovery, it boots to normal recovery, not twrp.
I flashed in odin again only twrp and vbmeta
(TWRP image in AP and vbmeta.tar in the CP slot.). Only those files i used, I'm not sure if this is correct. Anyway, i booted in twrp this time. I couldn't find download folder where i had magisk.zip to flash, trying to root, so i finally just restarted the tablet. It booted ok, but when i tryed again to boot in twrp, it booted in normal recovery again, not twrp.
---If anyone can show me the contact steps to install twrp and root..
--- Aslo in this 13 rom, there isn't fingerprint scanner. Is there any way (xposed, something) to install it?
Thanks!

Although rom is fantastic, with excellent battery life, Ulunfortunately i found a bug which is important for me. Only the 2 right speakers work. The other 2 dont. If some time in the future there is a fix to this, it would be much appreciated. Until then, i have to go to android 12 original..

Additionally, you can also try the arm64 image from ACI's master-branch. This is literally straight from Android and built/updated hourly.

I just flashed the one that was released this morning and all four speakers work.

Which version/build did you use? Also, for updates, does the system>update function within the room work or does the full zip file need to be flashed each time?

The first column named "aosp_arm64"
Branch Grid
ci.android.com
That will lead you to this page: https://ci.android.com/builds/submitted/9909221/aosp_arm64-userdebug/latest where you'll choose "aosp_arm64-img-9909221.zip"
As for your question about updates, it depends on whether your device supports seamless system updates. The SM-T860 and SM-T865 do not support it.

AOSP GSI with Android 14 has just been released! You can flash it right now with this guide.

GMS = Google apps included
The regular arm64 image is Vanilla Android without Gapps.
You can also grab daily gsi builds from ci.android.com
Android 14 is brand new, so it's not perfectly stable but definitely usable.

In the title you have Android 14.. though then in Post #1 you have Android 13?
I did try 14 though they brightness did not work properly? and the it kept freezing? You said "Android 14 is brand new, so it's not perfectly stable but definitely usable." which version did you use? Cause the one i tried definately wasn't

Hello ,
Thank you for sharing the info
I have checked Rom and answered my own questions .
Widevine is L3 (so only 480p on Netflix)
Performance in Hearthstone is way better .
Unfortunately for me only bottom speakers works , i have checked both 14 and 13 beta
When using spen or Samsung keyboard pointer is set to vertical orientation when tablet is in Horizontal position ,
So they are unusable .
Cannot relock boatloader since it is erroring out on the VBmeta

Hello!
Has anyone rooted now?
How about updates?
Can I just play it like that? I'm currently on Android 13...

Is there any way to use Samsung Apps like SNotes?
Thats the only thing I would need from OneUI

Thanks, fixed.
The Preview version on Google's main GSI site is unstable. You need to get the latest build on ci.android.com
They are literally building and releasing new artifatcs every 30 minutes.
Also, do you know where to get a Disabler for force encryption on Android 13 for the tab s6? Can't find anything.

Sure. Just download the Magisk APK from Github.
Install the Magisk APK, then extract the boot.img from your firmware files. Transfer the boot.img to your tablet, patch it with Magisk and then flash this patched img in TWRP choosing the boot option. There are tons of guides for this online.
No updates bc the tab S6 does not support seamless updates. You have to flash new versions. But its super fast because you just flash system and ur good.

Yes. I don't trust APKMirror so what I do is install the stock ROM from the latest samfirm firmware. Root it. Install File Commander, or any other root file manager.
Then navigate to /data/app and grab the Samsung Notes APK. All other apps are stored in this directory BTW. Then just install the APK once you flashed AOSP GSI

If you still want to keep using Samsung apps under a different OS like this one (AOSP, A14) install the Magisk module " Xmlpak a road to vendor apps".
After reboot, the Samsung apps you want to use again should show up in the app store for you to install. If not you can use APKMirror to download the APKs. Contrary to what a user posted above, this site is more than safe and verified.

INSTALL BOOTLOADER & MODEM
You can flash Bootloader & Modem with two methods:
Combined: [Recommended]
1. Download Odin and the COMBINED BOOTLOADER _MODEM.tar for your variant to your PC. [You can find everything in my Collection]
2. Reboot your device to Download Mode by pressing Power Button + Vol.down + Home Button and run Odin from your PC as administrator.
3. Put the COMBINED BOOTLOADER_MODEM.tar to AP section, untick Auto-Reboot, flash!
4. When It's done, reboot your device by pressing Power Button for couple of seconds.
Seperate:
1. Download Odin, the BOOTLOADER.tar and MODEM .tar for your variant to your PC. [You can find everything in my Collection]
2. Reboot your device to Download Mode by pressing Power Button + Vol.down + Home Button and run Odin from your PC as administrator
3. Put the BOOTLOADER to BL section and MODEM to CP section, untick Auto-Reboot and flash!
4. When It's done, reboot your device by pressing Power Button for couple of seconds.
Notes:
Check what version of Modem and Bootloader you have with apps like Device Info HW.
If Modem & Bootloader didn't changed to the version you wanted, do the same steps again with the method you have selected.
If for some reason Odin failed to flash, make sure your run Odin as adminstrator, try to change USB Port in your PC and don't move the cable during flash. Also if you have Odin and the files on an External hard drive, move Odin and all the files you want to flash, into one folder to your Main Drive for example C: drive.
For Stock Rom to have your WiFi working you need to have the same version of Modem/BL as your Firmware. For example if you have QK1 Stock ROM then you need to have QK1 Modem/Bootloader. On Custom ROMs doesn't matter. You can have any Modem/BL of your variant you want but recommend is always the latest.
INSTALL TWRP RECOVERY
ODIN Method (No TWRP Recovery currently installed)
1. Download Odin and the .tar file of the TWRP to your PC. [You can find everything in my Collection]
2. Reboot to Download Mode by pressing Power Button + Vol.Down + Home Button.
3. Run Odin as adminstrator > connect your device to PC > put the .tar file of TWRP in AP section > untick Auto-Reboot in options and flash.
4. Done! Restart to TWRP Recovery. (power button+vol.up+home button)
Recovery Method (TWRP Recovery already installed)
1. Download .img of TWRP Recovery. [You can find everything in my Collection]
2. Reboot to Recovery by holding Power Button + Volume Up (+).
3. Press Install Image.
4. Locate the recovery.img you recently downloaded.
5. Select it and choose the option Recovery and Flash.
6. Go back and Reboot to Recovery.
7. Done! Your new recovery should be installed.
CLEAN INSTALL CUSTOM ROM
Note: If you have issues after flash check possible solutions here:
Check integrity of all downloads (compare checksums), do the downloads again.
Make sure you Wiped everything and Formated Data (format data not just wipe) except external SDCard and USB OTG.
Flash only the ROM (without GApps and Magisk) and check if the problem persists. If yes, flash another ROM.
Try other GApps package.
If nothing helps, go back to stock and start from scratch.
Note: You can also Flash Custom ROM using ADB sideload Method.
1. Backup all your data to PC or to external SDCard. [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost on step 7 while Formating Data or Wiping Internal Storage]
2. Install the latest Bootloader & Modem for your S4 variant. [Read the Install Bootloader & Modem Guide above]
3. Download: [You can find everything in my Collection]
TWRP Recovery.
Custom ROM of your choice.
GApps (be sure you have selected Platform: ARM and the proper Android version of the ROM you are going to flash) if the ROM you are going to flash does not include. [Optional]
Magisk Root. [Optional]
4. Move all these files in one folder to your PC or to External SDCard if you have one.
5. Install TWRP Recovery. [Read the Install Custom Recovery Guide above]
6. Turn off your device and Reboot to Recovery Power Button + Volume Up (+)
7. Installation:
Steps without external SDCard:
Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe
Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe. [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Go back and select Wipe > Format Data > type yes [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Connect your device to PC while you are on TWRP and transfer into Internal Storage, the ROM, GApps etc. and the files you want to flash.
Flash ROM > GApps [Optional]
Reboot Enjoy!
[Optional] If you want to root, reboot once again to TWRP Recovery and flash Magisk (you need to download it again if you previously had it in Internal Storage) then reboot to system and enjoy!
Steps with external SDCard:
go to Advanced > File Manager > External_SD and delete all folders in ur ext sd card (For example you should delete: Android, .android_secure, LOST.DIR, DCIM, etc) except your personal files/folders and the folder with your custom ROM/Gapps/Magisk/DFE you want to flash.
Each app on your phone with the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission may create files or folders in ur sdcard. Most of these folders have once been created by one of these apps and many of them may be deleted with a few exceptions (e.g. Android, .data, .android_secure, these contain important system or app data like a game's downloaded content):
.android_secure: apps installed and then moved to sdcard
Android: app data/cache
data: app data
.estrongs: ES file manager
LOST.DIR: sort of trash folder (collects recovered files after phone crashes)
DCIM: phone gallery's photos and previews
OTA-update: Over The Air update service
ppy_cross: an unknown third-party app's data.
So I recommend to delete them so you can put your phone/sdcard in a clean state and is guaranteed to be able to re-create these folders.
Select Advanced Wipe
Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe. [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Go back and select Wipe > Format Data > type yes [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Flash ROM > GApps [Optional]
Reboot Enjoy!
[Optional] If you want to root, reboot once again to TWRP Recovery and flash Magisk then reboot to system and enjoy!
DIRTY INSTALL YOUR CUSTOM ROM
Note: Before you start flashing, keep in mind the ROM you dirty flashing MUST be the same with the one you have already installed.
1. Make a full nandroid backup, just in case something goes wrong. You can use TWRP to do that. (TWRP > Backup > Select everything) [Optional]
2. Remove all Magisk modules. [Optional]
3. Reboot to TWRP and Wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, System and Cache.
4. Flash the ROM > GApps [Optional] > Magisk [Optional]
5. Reboot and Enjoy!
I've skipped some explanations, because if you are going to dirty flash, you already know for example how to boot to TWRP.
CLEAN INSTALL OFFICIAL STOCK ROM
Note: For Stock Rom to have your WiFi working you need to have the same version of Modem/BL as your Firmware. For example if you have QK1 Stock ROM then you need to have QK1 Modem/Bootloader. On Custom ROMs doesn't matter. You can have any Modem/BL of your variant you want but recommend is always the latest.
1. Download the latest stock ROM (Firmware), Modem & Bootloader for your variant, TWRP Recovery (.tar file) and ODIN to your PC. [You can find everything in my Collection]
2. Install TWRP Recovery [Read the Install Custom Recovery Guide above]
3. Reboot to TWRP Recovery and Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe
4. Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Cache, External SDCard (if you have) and then Swipe to Wipe.
5. Go back and select Wipe > Format Data > type yes [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
6. Reboot to Download Mode Power by pressing Power Button + Vol.Down + Home Button
7. Run Odin as adminstrator from your PC > connect your device > put the Stock Rom (Firmware) file to AP section and flash it!
8. Let the ROM boot.
9. Install the same version of Bootloader & Modem as your Firmware. [Read the Install Bootloader & Modem Guide above]
10. Enjoy!

The easiest way to root your device is via Magisk, it should work in all ROMs, Stock and Customs.
Install Magisk:
1. Install latest TWRP Recovery. [Read the Install Custom Recovery Guide above]2. Download the Magisk [You can find it in my Collection]3. Reboot to TWRP Recovery by pressing Power Button + Volume Up (+) and flash it.4. Reboot and check whether the Magisk app is installed. If it isn’t installed automatically, manually install the APK. [You can find it in my Collection]Note#1: From Official TWRP Recovery 3.5.1 and onward (and other recoveries based on that), Magisk.apk can be flashed as apk without the need of rename it to .zip. So you can simply flash the Magisk.apk in TWRP.Manually Creation of Flashable Zip:Download the latest Magisk APK and rename the Magisk.apk → Magisk..zip.Note#2: If your bank apps detect root, follow this Guide.
Uninstall Magisk:
Flash the Uninstall.zip in TWRP Recovery and reboot. [You can find it my Collection]
If Magisk App isn’t uninstalled automatically, manually uninstall the app.
Manually creation of Flashable Uninstall Zip:
Download the latest Magisk APK and rename the Magisk.apk → uninstall.zip
Uninstall Magisk directly through the Magisk app. Simply press the Uninstall button.
Note: If your apps detect root, follow this Guide (or this) to pass SafetyNet and have certified Play Store. [YouTube Video Guide]

Battery Calibration
Method 1
Steps:
1. Discharge your phone fully until it turns itself off.
2. Turn it on again and let it turn itself off.
3. Plug your phone into a charger and, without turning it on, let it charge until the on-screen or LED indicator says 100 percent.
4. Turn your phone on. It's likely that the battery indicator won't say 100 percent, so plug the charger back in (leave your phone on) and continue charging until it says 100 percent on-screen as well.
5. Unplug your phone and restart it. If it doesn't say 100 percent, plug the charger back in until it says 100 percent on screen.
6. Repeat this cycle until it says 100 percent (or as close as you think it's going to get) when you start it up without it being plugged in.
Method 2
Notes: It won't dramatically extend battery life, but it will give your old battery at least 30 minutes additional run time.
Steps:
1. Get "GSam or Ampere" from the Google Play Store.
2. Launch the app and fully charge your phone. (Important: Only proceed with the calibration when the word "Full" appears in GSam or Ampere.)
3. While your phone is still connected to the cable reboot your phone to recovery mode, open file manager and navigate to "/data/system" and delete "batterystats.bin," "batterystats-checkin.bin," and "batterystats-daily.xml."
4. Reboot your phone (while it is still plugged in) and charge it until it reads "full" on GSam or Ampere.
5. Unplug the cable and use your phone normally until it shuts down (0 percent )
6. Charge your phone to 100% while it is turned off.
7. Boot into os and plug in your phone and charge it until it says "full" on the GSam or Ampere.
8. Unplug and have fun!
Battery Capacity Health
Notes:
1) Before checking the battery health, charge the device to 100%.
2) Check charge counter values and consider first 4 digits from left as your battery capacity in mAh. And check charge counter. (Charge counter/level)*100 is the battery capacity.
To find battery capacity in Windows:
Enable Developer options in your device.
Enable USB Debugging in your device.
Conect your device to PC and give permissions.
Open Minimal ADB (run cmd.exe) or Platform tools.
Type "adb shell dumpsys battery" command in Minimal ADB or Platform tools.
To find battery capacity in Android (Terminal) - Root needed:
Download an android terminal app like Termux,
Open terminal and type: cat/sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_full
Overheating
Following reasons will lead to device heating issue:
During the initial setup after purchase or when restoring data.
Downloading large files.
Using apps that require more power or using apps for extended periods such as:
Playing high-quality games for long time.
Recording videos for extended periods.
Streaming videos while using the maximum brightness setting.
Using the Screen Mirroring / Smart View feature (connecting mobile to a TV).
While multitasking or when running many apps in the background i.e:
Using Multi window.
Updating or installing apps while recording videos.
Downloading large files during a video call.
Recording videos while using a navigation app.
Large amount of data for syncing with the cloud, email, or other accounts.
Exposing device under sunlight when temperature is high around you.
Extensive usage of mobile hotspot and tethering feature.
Using device in areas with weak signals or no reception or in roaming network.
Charging the battery with a damaged / unapproved USB cable.
Device's multipurpose jack is damaged or exposed to foreign materials, such as liquid, dust, metal powder, and pencil lead.
Solution:
Turn off Wi-fi, GPS , bluetooth and other connectivity options when not in use by dragging the notification panel.
Decrease screen brightness.
Close background running applications.
Too many applications installed in device may result in device heating since their corresponding process will keep on running in background. It is advised to uninstall un-necessary apps if not using them.
Avoid using apps like GPS, data dependent apps or graphic intensive games for longer duration since they require more energy to function, causing device to heat.
It is advised not to use device while charging as it may cause the device to over heat.
General:
DO:
Use manual brightness or dim the screen.
Turn off notifications for apps you don't use. Better still, delete/disable the apps entirely if you don't need them.
Enable battery or power saving mode when you want to extend your battery life.
Use the power adapter that came with your phone. Other chargers can charge slowly/faster but they can also damage your phone or battery.
Turn off bluetooth, location tracking, and Wi-Fi (unless you are actively using it)
Turn off print services from bluetooth connection preferences.
Avoid extremes of heat and cold. If your phone gets very hot or cold it can strain the battery and shorten it's lifespan.
DON'T:
Have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi turned on constantly.
Leave apps running in the background. Instead restrict background usage off apps that you don't need running.
Push email means your device is always listening for new email which drains alot of battery.
Drain your phone battery all the way to 0% or charging it all the way to 100%. Keep it between 20% - 90% for longer battery lifespan.
The more advanced the graphics and animations are (games, videos, photos, animations), the harder the processor and graphics chip in your smartphone have to work. More activity means more battery use.

General:
Always prefer Open Source or well popular Programs, Apps, ROMs, Kernels & Stuff.
Open Source doesn't mean it's 100% safe but it's unlikely to have something suspicious, since you and other users can check the code in GitHub or in any other code hosting platform the "stuff" is hosted. You can also find and use FOSS apps at Droid-ify.
Prefer ROMs & Kernels with SELinux Enforcing. You can find informations here.
Always download and install Apps, Programs, ROMs & Stuff from official sources and do not use redirection links from different sites. Google is your friend to find the official source of the stuff you want.
Always check the permissions an app requires, before download and install it to your device. If an app ask for permissions which has nothing to do with the app functionality then it's should be reconsider or ask the developer why these permissions needed.
You can also check if the app includes trackers and ads with εxodus.
If you want to avoid Google and Play Store (De-Google), you can choose a ROM without GApps preinstalled like LineageOS and use Droid-ify client which is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device. Note that not all apps from Play Store will be available in Droid-ify or F-Droid. Only Open Source projects. You can find alternatives though.
Alternative you can use LineageOS for microG or any ROM which support signature spoofing and can support microG and use Aurora Store.
For Windows use the default Windows Defender & Malwarebytes to scan your files whenever you want (Prefered before open or install them). Also use the addon/extension uBlock Origin in your Browser. These should be enough for normal users. You can also use the tool ShutUp10++ or Privacy.Sexy to disable major tracking features of Windows.
For Android Do not use any antivirus - antimalware since it's useless, just check what apps and from where you installing.
Always verify the source of addons/extensions in your browser. Avoid installing random and unpopular addons/extensions. Keep it minimal and clean, so browser can be fast and safe, no need bunch of extensions.
If you are using VPN, always check the terms and rules of the provider. Avoid random VPN Services.
Recommended VPN Services.
Using a VPN will not keep your browsing habits anonymous, nor will it add additional security to non-secure (HTTP) traffic.
Recommended is to encrypt your data/files always before uploading them to cloud with tools like Cryptomator.
Always use unique and strong passwords for each of your accounts.
Use awarded open source Password Managers like KeePass or KeePassXC for Desktop and KeePassDX for Android to manage your passwords and have them with you safe, encrypted and secure. Must be noted you can use the same database file between these programs.
Always enable 2 Step Authentication wherever is available for your accounts.
You can use apps like Aegis Authenticator.
Do not open or click on links attached in unknown emails or SMS you may get. Always check the address of the email or the number of SMS and verify it's legit from the official source.
Create and use "burned" email for accounts/sites you have concerns but you definitely want to try them. Do not use your personal or business email. You can also create and use email aliases of your email with SimpleLogin which is open source and awesome service.

Initial Release
Hi guys,
I can't manage to install the Bootloader & Modem via Odin on my phone.
Does the phone need to be already rooted in order to install the B&M?
Attached is also the capture I took when rebooting the phone in Download mode.
I selected "reboot to bootloader" in order to install the B&M, because otherwise Odin won't detect that the phone is connected to the PC. Probably I'm doing something wrong.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

How did you do that? I'm not aware of such a reboot option.
You should boot into download mode (see above for how to). It should look like attached picture 1
In Odin, before you start flashing, you should see a success message "<ID ... Added!! If not, you should check if you have all required driver installed for your device.

Hi Retrial, first of all this is a really useful post thank you so much!
I just bought a brand new S4 GT-I9505 and I used the latest TWRP in your post wich is twrp-3.5.1_9-0-jflte.img.tar for flashing lineage-17.1-20210116-UNOFFICIAL-jflte.zip and I have some question if you are so kind to aswer me:
I want to update the firmware so I downloaded the last one for Italy from Updato.com which is I9505XXUHPK2 (Genuary 2017) and I would like to know if is a good idea to flash it with Odin and if I have to fresh re-installing Lineage. Then I would like to know if after updating the firmware I can update only XXUHQC1_BOOTLOADER and XXUHQC1_COMBINED which are the international versions and obviously the most recent versions.
Do you think is possible? Thanks in advance. Kind Regards

Hello,
If you flash firmware u need to reflash lineageos from start along with twrp. U can only do it via Odin.
Btw use the latest for your variant from my collection. Doesn't matter the country.
Flashing firmware=flashing stock rom. Why u want to do that if u are already in los?
You can flash bootloader and modem seperate yes (but I recommend to use my combined .tar which include both of them), without the need to flash everything again. Just go to Odin and flash the combined .tar I have made to AP. Once again, all the latest versions are included in my collection, doesn't matter the country so just use them.
All the infos and steps you need are in my collection and guides. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi thanks for your fast response! I want to flash an updated firmware because my S4 GT-I9505 is new and probably from an old stock so the firmware is for sure the old one (2013-2014) ,right now in lineage os in setting/info I can't see the current version of baseband. I don't care if I have to re-install Lineage and the recovery, I had to do it before installing Lineage, I know I forgot it... but I wanted just to know if is possible to do now without breaking something. Now you say that it doesn't make sense and that is better to just flash your combined Modem and Bottloader package, is it correct? What's your advice: installing your last complete firmware or just the combined Bootloader and Modem package? I red somewhere in this forum that it's better to update the firmware before installing lineage so I wanted to do the installation again in the right way. Sorry if it's an annoying question I'm not an expert and I want just to be sure. Thank you so much for your support.

Just follow what Retrial said; flashing his combo-file will accomplish what you want. Starting from scratch like you wanna do isn't any better.
I flashed bootloaders and modems so often, I can't even remember. Flashing stock firmware? Maybe once!

Firmware=Stock Samsung ROM. Firmware does not include Modem & Bootloader. So even if u flash Firmware u have to also flash Bootloader & Modem.
Now you say that u are on lineageos, I don't know what version you are but you can flash via Odin the combined .tar file which include Bootloader & Modem and then clean install via TWRP the latest LineageOS along with latest GApps if you use.
If you want to start from scratch-fresh then follow my Guides: "Clean Install Official Stock ROM" and then the guide "Clean Install Custom ROM".
With few words: go to TWRP wipe everything, the connect ur device to PC and flash via Odin the latest Firmware (stock ROM). Let it boot and then flash via Odin the latest Bootloader & Modem. Then flash TWRP and clean install the latest LineageOS with GApps (optional).
Everything you need is on my collection and all steps in my guides. Since u have i9505 variant you need the latest Firmware/Modem & Bootloader which is I9505XXUHQK1.
Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions.

Wow your instructions are absolutely detailed and useful, thank you so much Retrial for your support.! I'll opt for the "start from scratch-fresh" install by following your guides. If I can take advantage of your competence I would like to ask you just one last advice: I switched to Lineage OS for privacy reasons (I don't like google so I don't need GApps) and I also use it for sharing internet to my MacBook Pro with USB tethering (not wifi tethering which is not safe for privacy) so do you think that the Optimized Lineage OS (Android 10) version from JDCTeam is the right version for me? May I use the Android 11 version? Probably I'm asking you to much things and I can understand if you can't answer me, you have been really kind and I really appreciated your help. Anyway I'll post here my experience with "start from scratch-fresh instal" .
Anything for the AT&T S4 Active (+) variant?

Don't worry mate, ask whatever you want. I will help if I can.
Optimized LineageOS 10 is great but it's EOL (end of life). Optimized LineageOS 11 is also great and it's currently under development.
But since you are looking for privacy & security it's better to use Official LOS with guarantee monthly security patches cause lately optimized los stays a bit behind on updates. (Dev is busy) Soon official 11 will also be released.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
DO NOT Report bugs if you're using TWRP
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Installing LineageOS for the first time
Flash lineage recovery
Only the provided lineage recovery will be supported,
using TWRP might result in a possible data loss!!
If using Odin rename the lineage recovery image for your model to recovery.img and add it to a .tar archive using e.g 7zip.
If using Heimdall use: heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img --no-reboot
Boot lineage recovery
IMPORTANT: Do not boot into system again before booting recovery, or system will restore stock recovery!
If using Odin untick auto-reboot before flashing.
After flashing reboot by pressing Volume Down and Power for approximately 7 seconds,
immediately hold Volume Up and Power to boot recovery
IMPORTANT: As of OneUI 3 your device needs to be connected to a PC via USB cable in order to be able to
boot recovery via Volume Up, Bixby and Power.
Factory reset using Factory reset -> Format data/factory reset
Warning: Unlike TWRP this will also erase internal storage!
Sideload LineageOS by enabling sideload via Apply Update -> Apply from ADB
Then run adb sideload <path to your lineage.zip> on your PC
Optional:
Sideload GApps and magisk by repeating above step
with their zip/apk
Magisk
As this ROM has a working ramdisk sideloading the magisk apk is enough, just as it is
on every other device, no bootimage with magisk included or installing to recovery is needed!
Features
SELinux enforcing
AES-256-XTS FBE encryption
Latest Linux 4.14.x kernel
All cameras are working
Ramdisk is working
Dolby atmos is working
Known issues
VoLTE/VoWiFi

The main differences are these:
- It's open source
- SELinux is enforcing
- File based encryption on /data
- Merged upstream 4.14.x kernel
- It has a ramdisk (which makes installing e.g magisk a lot easier)
Hello,
Stuck at boot screen.
after side-loading the zip as well as MindTheGapps (x64 version).
Mind you I also added FDroid because I wasn't sure if it's included. Was that bad?
files used were:
"lineage-18.1-20210611-recovery-beyond0lte.img" (of course renamed and .tar'ed flashed with odin)
"lineage-18.1-20210611-UNOFFICIAL-beyond0lte.zip"
"MindTheGapps-11.0.0-arm64-20210412_124247.zip"
"F-Droid.apk" (most recent version)
I have attached a pic of the boot screen just do be clear what I mean. Pressing "vol down + power" does reboot(cannot even turn it off) however neither "vol up + bixby" nor "vol down + bixby" has any effect so I cannot access the phone via heimdall, odin, ADB or fastboot.
are there any options left to try or do I own a shiny new paperweight?`
any help is appreciated.

Could you please provide more information on your issue?
Like which firmware version were you on before flashing the ROM etc,
Also I don't quite understand why you list F-Droid.apk in used files, that's not something you sideload in recovery, so it booted up before I guess?
Also if BL splash is still shown I'm quite sure you can still enter DL mode ... just keep in mind your phone needs to be connected to a PC in order for it to work (force reboot and immediately press and hold combination for DL mode while it's connected to a PC)

that does nothing. I'll keep trying a bit before I move one.
Thanks for your quick response anyway.
I did the installation by sideload (ROM + Gapps) but when "trying to boot" the device returns to the DL screen.
even restarting to exit the DL screen, the device insists on returning to it.

I don't include out-of-tree patches, sorry
However in my S10 Series thread there's another solution for this one
Anyways, read the OP, download links are taken down temporarily as some users apparently had problems with getting it to boot
Will be up again next week hopefully (will get a device myself by that time)
Fixed builds are now up
Hi I am new here, I have two questions:
1. Installing using twrp is: just wipe internal storage and install file?
2. Why zipfile from Ivan's version is like ~1,2gb and this .bin file is only ~700MB?

1. Do not use TWRP (read the instructions in post #2!) it will eventually corrupt your data when using encryption which we do here
Use lineage recovery instead
2. I only have the proprietary blobs from stock that are *actually needed* probably it's different in ivan's ROM
Also it's a zip too idk why you say it's a ".bin"

@Linux4
I managed to install your version, its more stable than ivans version so thank you man great job, on ivans version had microphone issues and telephoto2x did not work, this one feels very good and probably usable as a daily driver phone..
I have a question for you, is there a way to add option in settings that blocks notification&quick-access-tiles from being accessed from locked screen?
And S-pen question: is there a way to make keyboard appear when I tap whit S-pen on txt field (it puts cursor there but keyboard does not apper until I tap there with finger.)
@Linux4
I notice S-pen issue, aside from seeing this icon when hovering over clickable button there are scrolling issues, something like one in four attemps fails to regognize gesture, you can open gsmarena.com a try scrolling there and it is very unrelialable and often instead of scroll it taps on some link over there, I tried ivans version and this issue wasnt there, (the hand logo also wasnt there) so maybe you can somehow take S-pen module from him, probably after that this build will be 99.9% complete

You know that both this and the other keyboard thing aren't even really device specific issues (actually rather stylus specific, it's the same on another device with SPen I have)?
It's just that AOSP doesn't have good support for these pens, they're basically handled like a mouse
Scrolling is fine for me on my own device tho and I do not get that hand icon (which is due to it being a "mouse") on the post reply button (tho in some other places I do get it)
I'm going to mess with that stuff in the future maybe

Yea you are right, I did pay closer attention to S-pen behavior and you are right, it is basicaly a mouse.. And issue solved, had magnetic case and that messed up S-pen behavior..

You have to install an Patched boot.img, That means you have to patch boot image with a Root like Magisk or SuperSU. Try it again, it works normally if you install Root. Btw, We are currently fixing an Boot.img Patch error with using a Magisk's Boot Image Patch Script.

I'm sorry, I think my words were very basic. It's a language translation problem. maybe i meant. "If I'm lucky, perhaps in the future, you'll have time to make the ROM for the phone version I use"
Sorry but I never had a snapdragon device. Chances to do a br for it are very slim.

Nice, thank you!
So, considering the installation instructions, does that mean we need to go to AVI7 firmware in order to flash your ROM, or what is the situation when updating the ROM? I'm on your first build.
yes, you need to flash first stock AVI7 fw + twrp_patched_vbmeta in USERDATA slot, reboot to twrp and flash BR16

So most likely it will result in a data wipe. Till now I didn't succeed to flash stock ROM without wiping. (Works fine in TAB S7 + and S8U) but kills my data in S22u even when using the home csc.
Thanks anyways.

maybe because of flashing TWRP with the vbmeta patch? disabling encryption formats data partitions, doesn't it

if you use stock fmw rooted you can update firmware using home csc without wiping data
if you are using beyond rom make sure you use latest twrp from afaneh92 android file host
if you still have data encrypted you need to flash twrp+ vbmeta, format data and reboot to twrp. after this you can flash beyond rom and no need to format data anymore
great rom Andrei
using with my s22+
0 bugs, everything is running smooth
good job

Since this gets rid of some Knox stuff, is it possible to then use the Samsung health app with a tripped knox?

Edit: yeah I looked and it is, cool thanks man
For many years I have been using exynos samsung galaxy cellphones. For reasons I dont know Samsung decided to make the S22 series for latinamerica with a snapdragon chip. Even when I should be happy cause snapdragon its said that is faster than exynos, I cannot keep having BR. Its a pity.

[LineageOS 20] (Android 13) GSI Install Instructions

Hi all,
i was kinda bored and sick of no Custom ROM development for our beloved S6 so i thought i'd try using a GSI and i've got it booting so i thought i would share the instructions!
As usual all care no responsibility! Nothing here is without risk.
Android 13
5 March 2023 Security Patch Level
1. Unlock your bootloader. (Very easy to do - https://www.hardreset.info/devices/...-s6/faq/bootloader-unlock/samsung-bootloader/)
2. Download the official vbmeta image provided by TWRP > https://dl.twrp.me/gts4lv/vbmeta.tar.html
3. Download TWRP https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs6qcomwifi.html
4. Open Odin
5. Put VBMETA.TAR in the CP Slot & TWRP in AP slot and flash. On reboot hold down the Pwr/Up button so it boots straight into TWRP or sometimes it can be overwritten.
3. Format Data, reboot back into TWRP and Full Factory Reset . (Take a backup if you need one).
4. Transfer the LoS image file to the tablet via TWRP then Flash the LoS image through TWRP (System Partition) lineage-20.0-20230324-UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bgN.img (or whichever ARM64 flavour you like) from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-20-td/
(might need to use the adb push command to copy the file across) adb push filename.extension /sdcard
5. Flash magisk if you like.
6. Reboot to system and enjoy!
i used the one above which includes GAPPS though there are ones that don't if you prefer
I only just finished installing though - quick summary:
Working:
Fingerprint!
Hardware Buttons
SDCard
Wifi
Bluetooth
Gapps and Google Setup
Tablet is very fast!
Charging
USB File Transfer
Audio
Video out for USB-C
Auto-rotate
GPS
Official Samsung Keyboard Physically attached working fine too!
Themes
Colours
Mic
SPen
Not Working:
Only bottom speakers work
SafetyNet
Workarounds:
To pass SafetyNet (BASIC):
Flash Magisk in TWRP
Use Magiskhide
Turn on Zygist
Install Displax modified SafetyNet-Fix from link below;
hxxps://github.com/Displax/safetynet-fix/releases/tag/v2.4.0-MOD_1.2
Configure your Denylist in Magisk for Google Play Store and Services apps. (And anything else you need to not detect root).
To Fix Brightness:
Go to Settings - Phh - Misc Features - Tick the box for "Use Linear Brightness Slider"
To Help with Fingerprint:
Turn off taskbar in Settings to help alignment with Fingerprint scanner
Hope we can get some community effort behind this so we can bring this tablet back into support since Samsung gave up on it..

Thanks so much for this!
I have built LOS for a couple unsupported devices in the past and would love to dedicate as much time and resources as needed to this project.
Could you share which build trees were used from Github and the extracted blobs?
I would like to replicate this build and put in a request with LOS developer stinX for an official one.

I am not sure mate about the GIT and Blobs. These are GSI so "generic" so they may not have them. From my understanding they work with the existing Vendor image and take advantage of Treble to ensure everything works.

There are quite a lot of tweaks available in the PHH settings. I suggest you play around in there and you may get both sets of speakers working. I will do the same
I have added it to "Not Working" section.

I should add i think this is MUCH faster than stock and battery life is looking great too!
I am happy there are some other people who are using this GSI on a Tab S6. I installed it some time ago and am very satisfied!
Some things I found:
Fingerprint XY coordinates are somehow off. Specifically, the symbol showing on screen and the actual reader are not on the same place. I think it is related to the app bar somehow, since it seems to be off by that. I think this could be fixed by an overlay.
Auto-brightntess is not available as well. Either use an app for that, or don´t use it. This can also be fixed by an overlay as far as I know.
Maybe it is also possible to get the top speakers working by making an overlay? I am not sure regarding this, however.
Obviously, DolbyAtmos is not included. However, I think there exists a Magisk Module. Maybe it would also be possible to integrate this into an overlay? This would be amazing
I am very new to the custom ROM/GSI scene. So, my experience with overlays and so on is basically none. However, I would try to contribute as good as I can if someone feels ready to create an overlay and then getting it implemented into the GSI.
Anyone interested in cooperating?

I will try to do that as well...lets see.
I would explicitly add to the working section that the spen works and also pressure sensitivity of the spen works! At least in the Saber Handwritten Notes app which I use. This is amazing.

Ah, that might make the difference! So I think it is worth to mention to either install Magisk, or to patch the vbmeta.img in order to boot. If coming from stock with the stock vbmeta.img, then Android Verified Boot will not allow booting into a different ROM.

OP is wrong.
Be careful flashing the latest TWRP for SMT-860 Wifi with Odin.
This happened to me today after doing it. "Error verifying vmbeta image: Invalid vmbeta header"

The device gets stuck like this and won't boot anymore, but you can get it back to normal by flashing the recovery.img from your firmware files (It's in AP)
You cannot install TWRP on the Galaxy Tab S6 without fixing the vmbeta.img issue.
I tried with the latest Samsung firmware downloaded via SamFirm and an older one.
@m0byn: Do you know what needs to be done with the vmbeta.img on this device, to allow for TWRP to be flashed?
I have found many different prescribed solutions such as patching boot.img with Magisk or just the vmbeta.img , but nothing seems to work.
Tablet, search my post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/t865-rooting-with-android-12-bootloop-and-error.4452641/ and try
Hey man, thank you for the suggestion. That post seems to be about Magisk and rooting.
The problem here is the vmbeta.img.
According to older posts from 2021 this can be resolved by flashing vbmeta_disabled.tar , but the latest 2022 version of TWRP should no longer require this. It's weird.
I am sorry. I thought something went wrong when you patched the firmware with Magisk
Probably flashing Magisk automatically patches the vbmeta.img. Not sure though.
Follow the steps below. This is how I did it. It worked.
I am assuming a stock recovery in this process. If you already installed TWRP just try if it works as well. not sure if this is impacting the process.
Unpack firmware using 7Zip tool
Unpack AP.tar.md5 using 7Zip tool
Unpack vbmeta.img.lz4 using 7Zip-ZS tool
Open file in FrhedPortable (HEX editor) to patch it
Go to offset (block) 123 and write 03 and save
Compress vbmeta.img to vbmeta.img.tar using 7Zip tool
Connect device via USB to computer
Hold volume up & volume down buttons
Press volume up button to proceed to download mode
Open Odin -> verify whether device number is added
Untoggle "auto-reboot" in options
Select AP section
Choose patched vbmeta.img.tar file
Click start to flash
When flashing process is done: hold power & volume down button to exit and power off device
IMPORTANT: as soon as device shuts off immediately release volume down button and press volume up button to enter recovery mode
Click factory reset
Click reboot to bootloader
Thanks @m0byn I managed to figure it out with your help.
For anyone else facing the same problem, here is what you need to do:
Download the official vbmeta image provided by TWRP > https://dl.twrp.me/gts4lv/vbmeta.tar.html
Proceed to flash with Odin.
Put the TWRP recovery image in AP and vbmeta.tar in the CP slot.
After this you can boot into the TWRP recovery normally, but for some reason any changed settings in TWRP are not saved. So everytime I reboot into TWRP recovery all previously selected TWRP settings are lost. I wonder if that's normal, but everything else seems to work.
Next step will be flashing the Lineage GSI, i'll keep you guys posted.
