Question Redmagic 7 Pro TWRP porting - Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro

Hello all! I've tried porting TWRP and a few other alternative custom recoveries to work with the Redmagic 7 Pro, with no success. I am simply not knowledgeable enough to make it myself. Is there any custom recoveries out there for this phone or is there an easier way to port TWRP over to this phone?

I guess that you have to look up in chinese forums. I got the 7s Pro and XDA does not even have an Topic for that.

A few years ago I used to compile custom TWRP recoveries for the ZTE Axon series and various Asus devices. One of the best things to do is to find a device which is currently supported by TWRP and which has hardware as similar as possible to your new / unsupported device. Try to fastboot BOOT the TWRP image on your unsupported device. (Note, I said BOOT not Flash). If it actually boots but has some wonky functionality, compare the partition structures of both devices.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
-Karl.

Is there any custom recovery that works on all android devices?

Hi, the title says it all. Is there any custom recovery other than Philz, CWM or TWRP that works on any android devices? I've been searching for android custom recovery on the internet but didn't found any recovery that works with my tablet. I really want to install a custom recovery as I want to have those custom roms like Cyanogenmod.
Hi,
does your tablet is listed on the xda forum ? if yes > better to make a research from there.
AFAIK the 3 recovery you talk about are the famous one.
It doesn't really answer to your question but hope to point you to the right direction.
Recoveries are device specific, they contain a bunch of low level, device specific code. They are fairly simple, so comparatively much simpler to port compared to actual ROMs, but they still need to be built specifically for a given device.
But unless your device already has custom ROMs available, merely having a custom recovery will do nothing to give you ROMs. Both ROMs and recoveries need to be ported to your specific device, and neither are much good without the other.

Lenovo s5 (k520) ZUI 3.7.177 ST Got root anyone?

Just got a new Lenovo s5 (k520 running ZUI 3.7.177 ST) but can't root it (tried KingRoot and Root Genius so far).
It has a nasty little OS (ZUI 3.7) which keeps killing apps it doesn't like. It took me two days to find an adblocker which would work (AdClear) after trying Dns66, Blokada and a couple of others which I can't recall. It's tightly locked down.
* Anyway, my question is... Has anyone had any luck with rooting this phone or OS?
* Or, has anyone any suggestions for apps or rooting options which might be more successful?
If there's any other people out there with this phone, I would seriously consider chipping in to buy one for a dev to work with... give me a yell if you're interested.
Cheers,
Specs:
OS ZUI 3.7 (based on Android O)
CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz Octa core
ROM 64GB
RAM 4GB
Edit: Hmmm, I was hoping that the latest Magisk beta (16.6) might help, but no luck. It does seem to get further along but fails with an 'unable to find boot image' message (my apologies for not being able to quote that accurately). Nothing seems able to find that .img. Can't back it up either as no app can find it. Yes, I need to brush up my adb skills ...my last effort ended in an error reporting lack of appropriate key, as I recall (sorry, have a bit of a flu just now). Anyway, has anyone else been able to look at this phone? Anyone have any ideas (or just thoughts) about what I can do here?
Thanks.
Just to update.... I have tried every simple rooting option I can find -with no luck.
I have found one reference to installing twrp & rooting this phone, but I'm unsure how legit it is ...it just looks a little like its put together by a script; but maybe they just copy/paste a lot when writing tutes? (I have written to them but have had no response from them in a week). The tutorial makes reference to a dev/group in China successfully installing twrp, but only on a Chinese release, not international.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows of the group or people referenced at
http://tutoraplikasi.com/cara-root-lenovo-s5/
or if anyone might have an idea of the dev(s) in China working on twrp & lenovo?
Just a shot in the dark, really, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Cheers.
OK, looks like time for some more serious reading and brushing up of old, much neglected skilz... I will probably close this thread and open another ( if there's no objections) in the xda twrp forum.
If anyone is interested, I'm looking to compile twrp for this device with a view to flashing magisk. Hopefully, it will work. Seems that adb & unlocking the bootloader is the only way I'm going to get to actually see the partitions holding the IMG files etc. (Though I do have one or two ideas about escalating privileges/permissions, but that's a whole other bunch of research -and time which is always short.)
Anyway, if you have an interest in rooting this phone have a look for a thread under twrp Q&A.
Cheers.
Seems like it was just a matter of waiting... XN Logos has come up with a solution, it appears --
https://www.stupdroid.com/2018/07/root-twrp-lenovo-k520.html?m=1
At least I managed some in depth reading in the meantime. I'll report back on success of the procedure.
Hi I have also a Lenovo s5. I hated zui 3.7 too and I succeded in installing Lineage OS 15.1 by phh using only fastboot mode... I tried rooting It but unsuccessfully. Now I want twrp and if it would be possible even root. Did you succeed with XN Logos?

Haven't actually tried yet. After all that looking for a root solution I now have been too busy. Will probably do it this Wednesday. I'll keep you posted. Did lineage work well? Any bugs or other issues? ZUI is a dog.
Yeah everything is okay... In the previous updates there was a problem with the audio in ear but now is solved. The only thing that is a little (but not dramatically) worse is battery life because in zui the fact that the os kills every app in background makes the battery last longer.
Hey guys, I know it is no the perfect thread for this yet this phone almost doesn't exist anywhere on the internet. I have the same issue with apps closing as you do. I wanted to install Lineage OS yet as there is no official release for lenovo S5. I would really appreciate some guidance on which release would I install and how. Would it be via the twrp? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm a lucky owner of this beautifull beast, the Lenovo S5 K520, but with the horfull ZUI3.7. I always have been using Cyanogen and after lineage OS.
It did not luck for me to install it on the Lenovo S5.
I manage to install TWRP-3.2.2-0713 with the help of the S-Droid toolkit for Lenovo S5.
From there, I did try every rom from phh on this page : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690
but the best I did get is the first logo of lineage OS going on and never stop for hours. I also did try AOSP treble Rom from this site : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659, but there I'm getting the Android text changing of ligth theme, but bothing more.
Could you please tell us the procedure and the version of the software you are using so that you are able to use Lineage OS on a Lenovo S5 K520?
Thanks a lot.

Hi i did in this way...
1)fastboot -w
2)fastboot erase modemst1
3)fastboot erase modemst2
4) fastboot erase system
5) fastboot erase boot
6) fastboot erase recovery
7) fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
8) fastboot flash boot boot.img
9) fastboot flash system {systemname}.img
The only thing you should do firstly is download the firmware from a video in YouTube whose name is like "ROM Lenovo s5" or something like that and extract the firmware in order to have both boot.img and recovery.img. Hope I could help
P.s. I used phh lineage latest build
Lenovo S5 global version stock rom
Hi everybody!
I was wondering if any of you have a copy of the original ZUI 3.7 non-Chinese stock firmware. I had trouble with my phone and contacted the customer service. Unfortunately, they've sent me the Chinese version (K520_CN_OPEN_USER_Q00011.0_O_ZUI_3.7.355_ST_180412_qpst) and now my phone is almost unusable as the rom only contains crappy Chinese stuff... :crying:
All apps are Chinese and it contains no GApps... I cannot even restore previously save config.
Please help me and send me a backup or the original non-Chinese firmware.
Thank you very much
I didn't even know the existence of an original firmware for non Chinese phones indeed when I bought it it came with a horrible chinese firmware with few translations. Did you find it? Because I want to try it too. If you didn't find it I'm also going to look for it

How can I multiboot Motorola one vision?

I have a Motorola one vision and I want to multiboot it. I already have twrp and magisk root, but when I try to install dualboot patcher or multirom etc... (I have tried all of them) it says that my phone isn't compatible with those multiboots.
Can someone help me porting a multiboot for my phone?

I've never used any of those tools myself but my guess is that they're outdated and doesn't work on devices with A/B slots.
In theory you'd be able to dual boot by switching slots, but it's not exactly that simple in reality.
Both slots share the same data partition, so in order to switch slot you'd have to reset or even format data every time you switch.
Not very practical.
To make it work properly I think we would need a custom made twrp and a repartitioned data so that also data would be split up as A/B.
Kind of how oneplus 7 solved dual boot.

Can we adapt one plus 7 multiboot for Motorola one vision or something like that?

The developer of Dualboot patcher had dropped the project due to change in android rom structure done by google i.e system as root structure, starting from pie i guess, which totally doesn't work with Dualboot patcher's mbtool.
So adding support for new devices running right from pie won't work. And yes, the one plus method will work ,but there is need of lots of coding, proper repartitioning and above that many testers are needed.

What roms are available for Ulefone Armor 5s?

Hello, I've tried to install multiple roms on my phone and none of them work.
I tried to install many versions of twrp without success. Some of them include twrp for Ulefone Armor 6, Armor 2, twrp for mediatek mt6750, mt6739, and even supposedly twrp for Ulephone Armor 5 (not to be confused with my model, which is 5s) and others.
I even tried orangefox, philz, redwolf and clockworkmod.
None of them worked. What happened is when I tried to boot into recovery, it would turn on, turn off, turn on again and boot into the stock OS.
I even tried to install ROMS without a custom recovery, using fastboot.
I tried a custom version of lineage os, supposedly made for ulefone armor 5 (I tried the arm64 a only version.) : https [column//] sourceforge [dot] net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-16.x/
I tried resurrection remix too (oreo arm64 a only)
the command I used is fastboot flash system custom_rom.img
After installing each rom, each time I tried to boot a custom rom, it would turn on, show me the message that my device is in the orange state, shut off, reboot and repeat. So yeah, I bricked my phone. Then, I installed the firmware for ulefone armor 5s with SP flash tool and I'm back to square one.
I don't know if I should try graphene os, since inside a folder containing the image files, there is a text file which states that a sargo board is required, whatever that means. ("require board=sargo")
So yeah, I don't know what to do. I need a rom that is open source, and without gapps.
Any help is appreciated.
I'm even willing to try ubuntu touch, if that works

Do a Google search for:
"Custom ROMs for (your specific model number)"
If there are any ROMs for your device, that search will find them, if it does not find anything then there is nothing for your device. This means that if you want to use custom ROMs on your device, you will have to build your own TWRP or port TWRP from a similar device to work on your device then you will have to build your own custom ROMs or port custom ROMs from a similar device. If you're wanting or waiting for someone to build them for you, you are in for a very long wait. Developers build ROMs for the devices they personally own, they do not build ROMs for devices that other people own if the developer does not own the device. In other words, around here, we help people find what they are looking for but we will not do the work for them. If you want it but it doesn't exist, you will have to be the one to create it for yourself, not someone else.

Who is trolling? Trolls get reported here, which I could do to you for the words you are using. I'll give you a pass this time because I'm a nice guy but that is your only freebie from me, your next disrespectful post will not receive the same exception.
What I posted is how things go here and what to expect, you just didn't want the truth. If that offends you, then that is a failing on your part. You're more than welcome to find another android website where they are willing to lead you by the hand and spoonfeed you when you want something that you are too lazy to find, do for yourself or have the ability to achieve on your own mental merit, because you surely won't find that here at XDA. If you choose to stay at XDA, be prepared to do the real work yourself.
Accept it or not, that is the way it is. Spouting childish insults won't change that.

Fake/Clone p40 pro

Hi folks!
Recently I've bought a p40 pro clone that is driving me crazy.
I can't barely use it as all the tweaks to make it look like a better phone are provoking some apps to fail. The about phone screen says that is a p40pro (without spaces), the CPU is a MT6799 when in reality is a MT6580, 12Gb of RAM but is 1Gb, Android 10.1 but it's 5.1, hahaha, it can't be more fake, but no regrets, I have what I've paid for!!!.
My initial idea with this crappy thing was to upgrade the android version to 6.x, but everything is pretty tough, at least with my little knowledge in custom roms, kernel etc.
First of all I'm not able to install TWRP on it. I can't find or make a working version:
I thought that this model was pretty similar and I tried with the TWRP included on the thread about a p40pro+, but the touchscreen after entering recovery was somehow inverted and seemed laggy: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/alps-clone-p40-pro-wish-com.4211591/
With the one at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unknown-china-device-p40-pro.4200617/post-85249887 it don't work too.
Finally I came to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ediatek-mt67xx-64bit-new-32bit-phone.3681861/ and I managed to make a custom TWRP which initially seemed to work (the touchscreen was fine) but the sd card data was unavailable, I was like missing but if I reboot the mobile it properly boot. Maybe because I choose an incompatible model to port from.
So, I'm running out of ideas, please can someone give me a hand on that super ultra fake thing?
Here is the full rom dump, preloader and recovery:
https://mega.nz/file/2M80XY7C#0kw7qVQ5498tDrt4UdUNq49lANIO3RvS73ct6DoCPO0
I'll really appreciate any suggestion on getting a new rom for this phone, and obviously how to get twrp on it, root, and if possible a rom which makes this fakephone at least useable.
Zillions of thanks in advance!!! Take care!
