General TechRadar review: "The Google Pixel 7 Pro is simply a brilliant phone at everything it does" - Google Pixel 7 Pro

For those interested, here's a link to Philip Berne's review at TechRadar. Rating 4.5/5
The summary: "The Google Pixel 7 Pro is every bit as good as the best smartphones from Apple and Samsung. It looks great, takes amazing photos, and stands out in a crowd. Google made lofty promises for this phone, and it delivers on the most important, even though some features aren’t as good as we’d hoped (and others have yet to arrive). Google implements software features as art, and the Pixel 7 Pro improves the smartphone in areas we’d forgotten needed improvement."

N2 vs. N3

There was some good conversation going in comparing the two in the N2 forum and I thought I'd repost some excerpts here.

Same here. To be honest I'm kinda disappointed. Nothing really new, innovative and exciting, nothing to stay out of the crowd.

These discussions always fascinate me. Nothing new? Here are some samples:
S Pen is "new" and some of its new capabilities aren't backwardly compatible so the N3 and 10.1 2014 are the only devices that will support those features. I love that you no longer have to care about what angle the pen's at when placing it back in the device.
A big part of the Galaxy Note story is the integrated S Pen active digitizer. Samsung redesigned the S Pen for the new Note and combined it with some new features.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7274/samsungs-galaxy-note-3-snapdragon-800-in-a-slimmer-galaxy-note
From Samsung's DevCon agenda:
The N3 is the first smartphone with USB 3.0 which means it'll charge off a PC at .9A vs. .5A which is a pretty big deal. It'll also transfer files 40% faster.
The display in addition to having a higher PPI than the N2 is also said to be brighter than the S4 which was Samsung's brightest AMOLED to date. That means much better outdoor visibility.
The N3 supports 802.11ac which also helps future proof it as well as LTE 4 for when LTE-A starts rolling out.
Knox is enabled for consumer use to segregate files to prevent unauthorized and unintended viewing of certain content and is persistent so the device can be tracked even after a wipe (if wipe isn't disabled which is a user choice).
The camera runs circles around the N2 - 13 Mega-pixel BSI Sensor, Auto Focus camera with Smart Stabilization, LED Flash( High CRI), and Zero Shutter Lag. It also records 1080P video at 60FPS and can record 4K video at 30FPS.
Lossless audio support matters to people who use high-end gear. To those that don't use $50 headsets the ability to playback at well beyond CD quality either via a wired or BT Apt X connection is a significant feature.
Battery life is going to be incredible. It's bigger, the display's optimized to draw less power, and both S-800/Octa have been proven to be incredibly power efficient; even supporing more powerful GPUs and higher PPI displays. It's also using Qualcomm's Envelope Tracker which reduces wireless battery drain by up to 30%.
The Note contains a Qualcomm chip called an envelope tracker, which will dramatically reduce the amount of power needed to run its LTE radio. We’re going to see this technology in a lot more devices.

Samsung's finally moved away from shiny plastic and yet people still *****. Go buy a glass or metal phone that doesn't have a removable battery and/or expandable storage if you don't like Samsung's design language which is limited by accomodating removable back covers.
The N3 is thinner and lighter than the N2 yet has a bigger display and battery. Pretty impressive feat.
Finally, the capacitive buttons work with S Pen. That's a pretty big deal to those of us that use S Pen heavilly.
It has all the additional sensors the S4 has so you can use apps that take advantage of them like S Health which I'm looking forward to. Those extra sensors are needed to support Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, Air Gesture, and Air View; the latter can be used without S Pen as is required today. You can also use the N3 with gloves without S Pen.
It has IR which if none of you have used WatchOn on another Samsung device it's a great feature; especially with a Samsung Smart TV.
The flips covers (with and without a window) are actually leather and come in a variety of colors and designs including some from Moschino. You can take notes using S Pen with the windowed flip cover without unlocking the phone or opening the cover.
It has 32GB of internal storage. Let me say that again - it has 32GB of internal storage. When the N2 finally gets updated, depending on how much "S Stuff" is ported over, it's going to have a similar storage issue to the SGS4. Moving apps (that allow it) to SD doesn't solve anything when DRM protected apps require (large) files be stored on the internal SD.
It has 3GB of RAM. With all the new multitasking capabilities that's not a luxury it's a necessity. When not using multitasking the ability for the N3 to keep apps open in the background and just perform better all-around will be impressive. If Samsung ports some of the new multitasking features to the N2 good luck getting decent performance with a 1.6GHz year-old SoC and 2GB of RAM.
I'll let the numbers tell the performance story:
Benchmark PI
AnTuTu
Linpack
Egypt (Offscreen)
T-Rex (Offscreen)
Sunspider

I must have missed this. What exactly do you mean by this? Does it mean you can put the S Pen back into its holder, regardless of whether it's backwards or not? With the GN2, you can only put back the S Pen one way (e.g., the Samsung logo on the S Pen on top). If you twisted it even slightly prior to re-insertion, it would get stuck, forcing you to straighten it before putting it in.

A bunch of reviewers have talked about the "new S Pen" and have mentioned it in terms of h/w and capabilities. Here's one.
Samsung's just officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 at its big IFA event, and its not so surprisingly spent a lot of time talking about the phone's brand new S Pen. In addition to bringing with it slightly new design, the pen also enables a number of new features on the phone. The biggest of those is the new Air Command functionality, which is a small pop-up window that's brought up automatically by the S Pen and offers quick access to features like Action Memo (which can link memos to actions), a scrapbook, the S Finder search option, and the updated S Note, which can sync content with your PC and tablet through Evernote. Fans of the Note's flip covers will also be glad to know that they can now also use the S Pen with the cover closed. Check out our full Galaxy Note 3 preview for a closer look at the S Pen's new features and, of course, the phone itself.http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/04/samsung-details-new-s-pen-with-air-command-feature/
There was one review that talked about older S Pens being compatible with the N3/10.1 2014 but not being able to utilize all the newer features but I can't find it again (yet). So I'm assuming either the digitizer's changed or the h/w capabilities of the S Pen have changed. There's also a couple of sessions at Samsung's DevCon devoted to the "new S Pen" so that wouldn't be a discussion of existing Samsung developed apps as much as it would be to discuss the SDK and what new features were available to devs writing s/w to be used with S Pen.
As for putting it back in the device there's no longer a wrong way. Thankfully.
EDIT: The pen's square...

No surprise here, as both devices support LTE. It's almost silly to bother with this category, as nearly every high-end smartphone today will support speedy LTE networks. The most obvious exception is the Nexus 4, and its days are numbered.

The N3 supports LTE Cat 4 which is another name for LTE Advanced. In the U.S. all the major carriers have said they'll have some LTE-A rolled out in 2013. As has EE in the UK and there's a S-800 SGS4 (i9506) that's LTE-A capable that's had its EE firmware leaked. Depending on the market you're in and your carrier's commitment to LTE it's something to consider when shopping for a new phone that you plan on keeping for a while.
Here's an explanation of LTE-A...

Lets hope the mods won't lock this one as well since it includes a non-Note3 phone
Just kidding... I think the N2 General forum got a lot worse after the banned all those useful threads.
Anyways... I'm getting the N3 because of brighter screen and ac wifi support. Only wish they would have added fingerprint support. I love that on my Lenovo laptop.

Guys, the 24 bit/192 KHz HiFi Audio support- do both the variants (Exynos and slapdragon 800) of note 3 own this?
@BarryH_GEG, amazing! You made a good list. Definitely, it's not an incremental jump.
I actually had to search for High CRI. Didn't have any idea on that.
BTW, here's what Samsung mention about battery performance.

Yes that's unfortunate ..
I had at the GNote2 forum a poll/thread with almost 3000 views and 200 votes in only 3 days, totally on-topic and they arbitrarily closed it.
After I complained it got merged with that lousy off-topic thread with less views.
Comparing a current phone with its successor or predecessor is never off-topic.
Let's hope this Forum get better moderators....

I've seen that comparison posted several places now and there is some information that doesn't match the widely reported specs. That chart says the GN3 has OIS but everywhere else it is listed as smart stabilization. What is that? It seems if it was optical stabilization they would say it outright.
The linked comparison also says it is a tad shorter but everywhere else it is listed as slightly taller though narrower, thinner and lighter.
All I know is I'm pretty set on the Note 3 but really want the 64GB version and am worried it won't be available for a while. Of course first Sprint needs to announce it...

Here's the N3's press release in its entirety. Things that are "big" make it in the press release. USB 3.0 didn't make it which I'd consider "big" so maybe there are a few surprises that'll come out in the detailed reviews. OIS isn't in there so it's probably safe to say the N3 doesn't have it. "Smart Stabilization" is digital (vs. optical) which means s/w is controlling it; just like digital vs. optical zoom. It can be helpful or harmful depending on how it's implemented. Time will tell.
The red emphasis is mine for those with ADD.
Design the Story of your Life with Samsung GALAXY Note 3
Enhanced S Pen features and larger screen optimized for multitasking provide a delightful mobile experience that brings passions to life
Berlin, Germany – September 4, 2013 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today introduced GALAXY Note 3, the latest update to the Note product line. The new Samsung GALAXY Note 3 adds delight to daily tasks and infuses innovative features that help consumers tell the story of their lives. Samsung GALAXY Note 3 delivers a larger and better screen for the best viewing experience and more powerful multitasking, and introduces significant S Pen improvements that make everyday life easier and faster.
GALAXY Note 3 makes your everyday life amazing
“We introduced the original GALAXY Note in 2011 and launched a whole new smart device category. The undeniable success of the GALAXY Note strengthened our conviction that consumers want higher quality features for smart devices and they want those new features to make their lives better,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung GALAXY Note 3 is a powerful, original approach that enables users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expressions of their passions across work, play and life experiences. With a simple click of the S Pen button, users can unlock opportunities for self-expression, features that transform everyday activities into extraordinary events and access to new experiences delivered to them on Note 3’s larger screen.”
Samsung GALAXY Note 3 comes with a wider (5.7inch) full HD Super AMOLED display, yet slimmer (8.3mm) and lighter (168g) hardware design, and more powerful and longer lasting (3,200mAh) battery. Also, equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash, Samsung GALAXY Note 3 enables users to crisply capture every visual story in their lives, even in low light and active situations. Samsung GALAXY Note 3 offers the latest LTE technologies – CAT4 Carrier Aggregation and supports the greatest number of multiple frequencies. Incorporating the industry’s largest 3GB RAM, the GALAXY Note 3 also provides faster and more powerful performance.
Balancing GALAXY Note 3’s strength with artistic design
In addition to meaningful technological advancements, Samsung GALAXY Note 3 delivers a new premium look and feel. Expanding on the modern Samsung GALAXY design approach, Samsung GALAXY Note 3 adds a soft and textured-touch back cover and delicate stitching. It also features a serration pattern on the side of the device that evokes a connection to the timeless and enduring strengths of classic notebooks and planners. Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will be available in Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink. In order to encourage its customers to express their personality and taste, Samsung will also offer exchangeable back covers in dozens of additional colors at launch.
Click S Pen to make life easier, faster and more exciting
The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by providing the ability to accomplish everyday tasks with just one click. The advanced S Pen is designed to be fully functional as a communication driver between the phone and the user by creating essential input and control features. It plays an integral role in how users interface with the device, making all daily routines easier.
A simple click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five powerful features that truly make tasks easier and faster. With the Air Command feature, there is no need to toggle between screens, memorize commands or look up different menus. The Air Command feature provides access to the following key functions:
Action Memo allows users to handwrite a note, and automatically execute a function or convert that handwritten information into formatted content. Action Memo can instantly initiate a call, add to contacts, look up an address on a map, search the web, save a task to a to-do list, and more
Scrapbook enables users to organize or track down content and information from various sources including the web, YouTube and Gallery in one place so that users can easily look back at collected content all at once. When consumers save content for future use, Scrapbook also collects source material or URLs allowing them to easily refer back to the original source.
The Screen Write feature captures the full screen image of the current page on the device and allows users to write comments or additional information onto the captured image.
S Finder allows users to expansively search for content on their device regardless of the type. By putting in keywords or filters such as date, location, and content type, users can search related documents, events, communication threads, and even the Help page – all in one place. In addition, users can also search for hand-written content in their Notes and memo applications, as well as symbols and formulas.
Pen Window allows users to use the S Pen not only for drawing sketches or writing notes, but now also for opening a small application window for a true multitasking experience. Simply by drawing a window of any size, anywhere on the screen, users can easily and quickly open another application window such as YouTube, calculator or Browser without pausing current activity on the screen.
For more advanced note-taking, the new S Note presents a comprehensive solution that enables consumers to easily write, organize, edit and browse notes with a user-friendly interface and the Easy Chart feature. The new S Note can also be synced with Evernote or a Samsung account and be enabled for accessing and viewing from different devices. Furthermore, when a user wants only a certain part of an image to be taken from the web or Note 3 content, the advanced new Easy Clip feature allows them to roughly draw around the desired image and then it converts that content into a more precisely cropped image.
Larger Note screen delivers enriched viewing experience and enables you to do more
The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 delivers a larger screen and the increased size is matched with powerful improvements that allow users to fully utilize the additional screen space. The 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen provides a stunning and defined video viewing experience for watching Full HD content, distinct clarity for reading and an elegant canvas for content creation.
My Magazine provides a personalized news, social media, entertainment and in-the-moment content experience. Developed through a partnership with Flipboard, it offers an integrated content consuming experience in a modern and dynamic magazine-style layout.
The GALAXY Note 3 enables enhanced multitasking capabilities that allow users to fully utilize the larger screen.
With the new Multi Window, users can toggle seamlessly between applications without closing the window or opening a new page, allowing for enhanced productivity and collaboration across programs. Consumers can also run one application in two windows at the same time. For instance, users can read the news in one browser while conducting a web search in another, or send an instant message through ChatON to a friend while reading a message from another friend.
In addition, using Drag and Drop mode within the new Multi Window, users can easily drag and drop content such as a text or image from one window to the other in an instant.
Pen Window from Air Command further enhances multitasking experience by allowing consumers to draw a window on the screen and launching popular applications while continuing current tasks on the GALAXY Note 3.
An improvement to Group Play, video sharing, is now available. Originally introduced along with the GALAXY S4, Group Play allows users to play the same music, to play games together, and to share documents. It now enables consumers to share videos and play content together with their friends simultaneously. Users can also connect up to five devices alongside each other to create a “big screen” viewing experience.
Samsung KNOX & Find My Mobile
The new GALAXY Note 3 comes with enhanced privacy and security protection provided by Samsung KNOX. Users can activate Samsung KNOX with ease which allows them to run and store security-sensitive applications and data inside a protected execution environment called “container.” The security inside the container is strengthened by system-level protection of Samsung KNOX against malware and phishing attacks as well as hacking attempts on physical devices when devices are stolen or lost. For instance, important personal pictures or video can be stored in the container with no worries for data leakage due to hacking. In addition, users may choose to store enterprise applications and data such as corporate email, contacts and calendar and allow the IT department to manage the container through EAS (Exchange ActiveSync Server). These features make the GALAXY Note 3 an ideal device for BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device to work)
Furthermore, the GALAXY Note 3 is equipped with an improved Find My Mobile feature that allows users to disable the phone when it is stolen or lost. With the enhanced user authentication, the technology prevents stolen mobile phones from being reset to factory settings, and allows users to remotely track or erase the data from their lost or stolen mobile phones.
GALAXY Gear, the smart companion for GALAXY Note 3
Simultaneously announced with Samsung GALAXY Note 3, GALAXY Gear is a new concept device that allows users to live life in the moment while staying connected. GALAXY Gear will notify users and give them quick previews of incoming texts, emails and more coming from GALAXY Note 3. It will provide a range of other valuable features and commands that extend the GALAXY Note 3 experience. When an incoming message requires more than a quick glance, users can simply pick up their Samsung GALAXY devices and the Smart Relay feature will instantly reveal the full content on the screen. Together, GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear extend Samsung’s efforts to provide users with the opportunity to design their lives, to express their passions and to make everyday life more easy and enjoyable.
Available in 32GB or 64GB internal storage along with an additional microSD card slot, the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear are set to launch starting from September 25 in more than 140 countries around the world. The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will also be available in the U.S. later this year on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.
The GALAXY Note 3 will be on display at the Samsung booth # 20 at IFA 2013, September 6 through September 11, 2013. Full details, video content and product images are available at www.samsungmobilepress.com or m.samsungifa.com.

I think Smart stabilization is just a term Samsung uses. The only "Smart" I see on their page is Smart OIS.

I'm not sure what you consider announced, but their web page is up:
http://www.sprint.com/landings/samsung_galaxy_note3/index.html?ECID=vanity:galaxynote3
With all these great improvements, the Gnote3 is really a solid upgrade, unlike many GNote2 users would say..
However there is no way I would buy it right away.
Its price right know ( I am talking about Sim lock free, here in Holland) it's quite abusive, even for those with fat wallets.
And in the meantime the prices of the N2 already drop to the neighborhood of 400 euros.
I give a couple of months for N2 prices get even cheaper, under the 400€ ....
And then the new Note series users will have something to thing about:
Getting the amazing (at least on paper) Gnote3 but very expensive or..
Getting a much cheaper, but already proven excellent GNote2 , a still a high-end device and with the best battery performance among them all.....
.
since I had numerous times of warranty for Note 2 (Headphone plug, microSDXC issues problms with charging electronics and whatnot) (including one replace, where I had to get a show device since it was the last one in the city) I'll probably switch to Note 3, most probably I get my money back this time and Note 2 has been bought at a price of 499€ meaning that if I want a bit I dont need to put that much onto a Note 3...

This is bothering me as well. I have the good fortune of being near the German border, thus saving me about 100 euro on the phones, but it's expected to go for 900-1000 euro in the Netherlands. Outrageous.
900-1000€? not real! Samsungs stated price is 699€ which retailer ever does that should get penalties...

Right now, pre-order prices in Holland are around €750
It should settle to 690 euros after sales warm up and webshops like belsimpel (I usually buy my phones there), will get non-Dutch models for cheaper (not right now)..:

Amazon doesn't work in Holland but here are the actual online prices over here:

why doesnt holland have amazon???
also the site you linked gets an error that looks a bit like a german-english mix of Page not found, aka 404...

ALSO you had huge sh*t with youtube channel where stream was not available for some reason
It is also great for group photography where no one is leftout in a photo with accurate bokeh effect while it frames your photo intelligently!
Now, time for some before and after shots with AI Photography!

If you remember correctly, we mentioned AI 24MP front camera as well and if you didn't know, it takes clearer selfies!
"Apart from having an amazing camera, AI 2.0 also gave it an intelligent touch with:
- Bokeh in selfie mode
- Detailed imaging
- 3D facial recognition
- Correcting optical distortion
- AI improved facial lighting for consistency
"
"If you could only choose one of these many features, which one do you love most?
- Bokeh in selfie mode
- Detailed imaging
- 3D facial recognition

- AI improved facial lighting for consistency
- I WANT THEM ALL"
And here are some amazing selfies taken by our fans!
This is all? Of course not! If the view 10 isn't updated to the Newer AI features and EIS soon, honor would lose a lot of loyal fans. The hardware is more or less similar and there is no reason that the new features wouldn't work. I hope they do update the view 10 cause its one great phone

You guys should've organised this a lot earlier. I remember the View 10 live Q&A being a lot lively as it was announced earlier
?
OMG!
Just fell in Love again.
The phone looks awsome, the first Huawei i bought was Honor 7, after that i had most of the Huawei phones. Mate 8, P8, P8 Lite, P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8 Honor 9, P10, Mate 9 Pro and now proud owner of Mate 10 Pro.
Honor 10 would be awsome to own if i could afford it.
Sent from my BLA-L29 using XDA Labs
meh... nothing terrific about it
I've watched the Livestream, and my GOD what a unique color this device has. I kinda imagine myself using the Honor 10 "NAKED" and everyone is looking at me jealously ??
The phone was very beautiful and had a lot of appeal, I think it will be very successful.
Hey huge shootout.. ? ?
I think the phone is a beautiful piece of machine and anyone who is into aesthetics would pick this over other phones of this price segment. The glass at the back is just stunning.
Will the live stream link be fixed on the raffle page, it says the video is not available, which means you cannot get points for watching it. Another than that the live stream was very informative and well done, except for the speaker. IMO I think they should have gotten someone who was a little more discernible. For me it was fine, but I know some of my compatriots could not understand what he was saying.

Honor 10
Nice upgrade for Honor 8 users
@Honor Anything mentioned about the 6/64GB and 6/128GB models? Will they exist in europe, or only for chinese customers?
Please tell, why headphone jack got added, but no microsd slot. By adding emmc 5.1 instead of UFS 2.0/2.1 it was useless to remove it either.
2nd
Are there any details about Honor Open Source Program for Honor 10 or are they stricted to View 10?
Maybe ask @[email protected]_USA?

Convince me something is better than iPhone 13 Pro Max

Hi, I have had an iPhone since day 1 in 2007.
I am very technical and have friends who have used Android, but I've never done more than play with their devices. I am adept with Linux and have used it since around 2001.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am looking at upgrading to something new. 3 cameras, including Macro and 3X telephoto on the new iPhone are very appealing to me, so I wouldn't want to give those up if I get a different phone. Features wise my priorities are:
1) Cameras (10-bit video a plus)
2) 6.5"+ excellent 10-bit screen
3) At least as fast as iPhone 12 Pro (I know as far as browser and graphics go, that's tough, but as close as possible)
4) At least as good battery life
Lately I am concerned about Apple's surveillance-culture developments and have been looking into things like the PinePhone and Librem. Open hardware with no blobs and fully open software is very appealing. However, even with the PinePhone Pro coming out next year, they are not particularly performant devices. Pure Linux phone software looks quite wanting still too. Primarily, they are not great camera platforms, which is really my core use case.
So now I am looking at things like Snapdragon 888 based devices running LineageOS. What phone and software should I be looking at to get a no-compromises iPhone 13 Pro level camera experience while maximizing privacy and security protections?

General Google Pixel Roadmap 2023-25

Exclusive: Here’s Google’s entire 2023-2025 roadmap for Pixel phones
We have obtained exclusive information related to Google's planned roadmap for the Pixel phone series from 2023 through 2025.

Flat screen please
can't wait to trade-in my pixel 7 pro for pixel 8 pro
I'm shocked, totally shocked after reading this mind blowing news. Devastated.
This appears to be second-hand info and this article can change 180degrees in a second, it's probably true from how the article is written. What Google needs to do is adapt Android OS Changes on what other vendors are doing with Android, if I could return/exchange my P7Pro with a OP10Pro I would do it in a split-second... this is all for some things Google will not enabled in the OS - the options are in the OS Build because other vendors are doing it but not enabled on Pixel devices.
Unless the fold is a game changer (no fold line), I wouldn't get the first version anyway. Not to mention the PRICE.

What things? OnePlus and other OEMs heavily customize the Android experience with their own skins. If it's not in Lineage, it's not in the core Google OS and is added by the OEM (this includes Pixel features).
The only thing I miss from my OnePlus 9 is the fast charging. It sucked more across the board otherwise, *especially* their buggy software.
I think I will keep my pro for the next few years
The only fold device that would even interest me would be a Pixel Fold. But I would wait a couple iterations before I thought of getting one.
Google usually doesn't use the latest hardware in their devices and generally this is a good thing for consumers because it offers better value and better optimization while still offering most of the important features.
Considering fold screens use a flexible polymer screen I am going to stay away until they can develop a flexible glass. However I think the Achilles heel of foldable devices is the screen. The crease and higher likelihood of scratches is a pretty big issue IMHO.
I am pretty happy with my Pixel 7 Pro.
I would like Google to use a more durable finish like Samsung aluminum armor and a brushed finish and frosted glass on the P8P.
I am excited to see what the Tensor 3 will bring. Hopefully Google will get arm9 and X2/3 cores and 4-3nm process.
I know it is widely said that the Tensor G2 is on 5nm I find this hard to believe. The benchmark scores between the original Tensor and Tensor G2 are significant and I doubt simply using a slightly higher clocked X1 can account for the uplift in single core scores. I know one website said a Google employee confirmed it was on 5nm but unless Google actually gave us the specifications officially I take anything else with a grain of salt. That being said if it is true then when they do advance the process it should offer significant advantages.
"However, “husky” — aka the Pixel 8 Pro — will have the same display and general measurements as the Pixel 7 Pro."
Enough with the stupidly narrow screens already, give us something that can fit in a MAN's hands, not a fairy that can't tell if it points in or out.
And no mention of the pixel tablet that's supposed to come out in 2023.

I have one, below is what I put in thread I had made, for me its good buy!
It runs great, I haven't had any lag or stutters, I love it.... Battery is decent , I`m no power user, it`s very snappy with the 8gb ram compared to the 6gb the 6A , and love the coral color, I rooted it and using Magsik and AOSP MOD, repainter app., has wireless charging that the Pixel 6A didn`t have, I liked the pixel 7A enough , I actually sold my S23 ultra yesterday, but I do have the new Sony Xperia 1 V on preorder, in my opinion the Pixel 7A is a great buy!!
Edit: also it has face unlock, which the pixel 6A doesn`t which is nice too, still has the plastic back, but doesn`t bother me.
Who knows what inspire those people who write reviews about new products coming up to the market. With so many websites promoting stuff these days it's hard to find an objective voice that is free from bias of self interest. Some writers write reviews because they must meet deadlines and others write for companies directly involved in profiting from sales/marketing of such items.
In the end, we the customers will have the final word reviewing things after purchasing it and still, some of us gonna say "it sucks" others "so,so" then some"it's fantastic fantastic".
Personally I like this Pixel 7a or I should've said: I'm not disappointed because I expected this phone to be exactly as it turned out to be. Easy to handle because of its size/weight as compared to my S23U. As for quality - can't complaint, the price is the best excuse to tolerate some very minor design issues. The phone is working smoothly overall, I can't be too picky when I switch for a day or two from S23U.
I spent some time today in the local park testing the camera: it never got hot, warm yes, but my S22 vanilla year ago was going at least 20-30 deg F hotter while recording slow-mo and regular videos for extended amount of time. Same when continuously shooting pics. Here are some pics from earlier today:
p.s. I'm good on the cover, won't need more, the one I have was also free from preorder promo. It's perfect, almost clear plastic, but it has some irregular dots on the back, good grip and it looks great.
My only complaint thus far is the screen. Its not horrible but the colors are a bit dull even with Adaptive selected in display settings. It's also not the brightness phone and can struggle in directly sunlight. The image in general is just a bit off too I can put my finger on it. Other than that I love it, I'm hoping some of my issues with the image quality and brightness can be adddressed via Firmware update.
