Question Best fully working Gestures app for MIUI13? - Xiaomi 12S Ultra

Have been a great fan of Vivid Navigation Gestures for years, until I switched over to Xiaomi 12S Ultra and realized I couldn't make it work despite disabling all battery optimizations & enabling all permissions. Which gestures app can work properly without it closing by itself after long lock periods, and allow me to disable the navbar?

all of them can do it you just need to know what to change in miui settings.
I use FNG.
* disable miui battery optimization
* enable autostart
* go to apps -> system app settings -> security -> boost speed -> lock apps (enable fng)
* pull down notification shade and switch to toggles, click on the edit icon. drag the fng toggle to your "added toggles"
in the rare case where FNG is shut down you can just pull down the toggles shade disable enable it and you're back in business.

I have already done all these but VNG still shuts down way too often ( I have to re-enable maybe >10x a day). Any other settings I'm missing?

any thoughts?

Try FNG instead. I got max 3 restarts a day

3 a day is still a lot. Is there any gestures app that has a no-kill notification service?

In addition, that app was not maintained since 2019

3 is better than 10, I don't know why it happens. If you are rooted you can try making this an admin app. Maybe that will prevent it from restarting

is there any easy way to root the phone without bricking it? Thank you.

This is the solution. Need to stop Miui from closing app.
Swipe up and hold to enter app tabs. Press and hold on FNG, then press the lock icon.
This stops the system from closing.

as shown in screenshots above, locking it doesn't prevent auto-close by system.

I'm using FNG, and mine hasn't closed once since locking for 1 week now.

Oh I forgot to mention I'm on Xiaomi.eu rom.

can I port to eu ROM while maintaining all my apps, configs, settings?

No. It may be a different ROM branch and may have different partition differences as well as system apps being non Chinese versions. You might find it just boot loops if you do.
Just make sure you back everything in Google back up and have it set for auto restore and most settings and apps will get put back on with settings via the Google back up after you configure the Google account once flashed and formatted.

Finally I think I found a way to make FluidNG working without any breaks. Just use tasker and create a task that FluidNG (or your favourite gesture app) starts when you unlock your screen. Second: launch app "go to home screen". That's it. Working for a few days perfectly.

[APP][XPOSED] Custom Alert Slider for OnePlus 2/X/3 [2.1]

Hi guys,
Aside from VibrateMode, I made another app which customizes the slider to make it more useful. You can change action for each slider position. And it needs Xposed framework.
List of actions will be updated here:
- All
- Interruption
- None
- Airplane mode
- Flashlight
- Vibrate
- Mobile data toggle
- Do nothing
- Remove toast when changing mode
- Remove ringer icons or change interruption icon to vibrate icon
- Tasker support (event plugin)
If you have suggestion for custom action. Please post it here and I will put it on the app's checklist.
Hope you like it

Really cool, looks like it's working ok.
Finally I can reverse the order and use airplane mode instead of muting all.

Vibration mode should also add in the list. I know You have another app for it. But keeping two apps for this is not a good idea.

There are several reasons:
This new app focuses only on customizing the alert slider on Oneplus 2/X devices
VibrateMode works for all CM-like devices and not just Oneplus devices
Do you want more fancy features for your alert slider? Then combining the two only creates the mess.
The app has its own plan and for now it looks like it's a good idea to combine them but when I add more features to the combination, I would actually destroy the focus.
I hope you understand.
The app doesn't even run, keeps crashing when I open it. On OOS 2.1.1 with v75 xposed ver. with gavinhungry's xposed mods.
I'm with mnhs on this one. I'd like to see these features wrapped in with the other app that is already available. I understand why it's not, but an all in one solution for users would be more beneficial than having to install several apps to accomplish the same thing.
All this said, I can not get the app to work as described. I enabled the module but the app immediately crashes every time I try to open it.
I really want to fix the problem. Can you see the log and check where it crashed?
would this app work for Hydrogen OS on OnepLus 2?

The problem could be the conflict with MinMinGuard if you have them. MinMinGuard tries to block ads and causes so many crashes and hence the app is terminated. New version will be updated soon.

I have not tested the app yet. But in my opinion it will not work correctly with HydrogenOS.
Nice app...works perfectly for me. It would be better if vibrate was included in it. But still I loved the app.
Adding a vibrate mode option really kick it up a notch. You don't have to discontinue your vibratemode app as such because of its support for cm devices. But adding it here would really add to sensible functionality.
Anyway great work already! Cheers
Awesome, Man!! I just installed it and it works like a charm!

You can set up vibrate mode via tasker, if you are familiar with tasker.
vibrate, vibrate and ring, ring, mute , flashlight, auto brigntness.
these are the must need stuff for me. please add it bro.
 @khanhbabykid
I think you said you were already working on this but the ability to assign our own shortcuts would be perfect, then I could just make tasker tasks and do anything else I want through that!

Finally I found this (on F-Droid), thanks!
Do you know if it works on Pie?
(I always depended on Xposed + Airplane Mode Helper + Timeriffic.
But I want to use Pie, which doesn't have Xposed.
Forgive me, I can of course try myself, but that takes hours if unsuccessful.)
Minor feature requests (idk if you still care/maintain, but you asked, so there):
- Be able to set times while toggle is set on Disabled
- When changing time, preset time chooser to current setting, instead of always 23h/8h

Thanks for testing!
Actually, your comment has motivated me to rework on this App. I switched from unlocked Xperia to locked Galaxy S7. It was very complicated but I successfully managed to be root again. I will rework on the UI, and make it close to Google Calendar (week view).
I've found an open source library which does that, so it will be easy to set offline periods.
My pleasure, thanks for listening!
Yes, it works fine on Galaxy S4 Mini LTE + AospExtended 4.6 (Nougat).
As you are still interested in feedback:
Personally I really don't care about this, but it doesn't trigger exactly on time, maybe only during Doze mode "maintenance windows" every 9 minutes. I already disabled Battery optimization for it.
Maybe most people (like me) already use other schedule/profile apps that have plenty features, so they don't search for alternatives.
But afaik, they all need Xposed + Airplane Mode Helper.
So maybe your app gets more popular, as long as your app does work on Pie, and Xposed does not.
Thanks for this app! I just discovered it recently and so far it does exactly what it is supposed to do: Automatically send the phone to airplane mode during the night and wake it up in the morning.
If you could as you mentioned add some form of a calendar view to the app then one could use the app much more individually (e.g. use different times on the weekend). That would be a great improvement!
Moreover, I would like to also add another feature request:
Would it be possible to enable/disable airplane mode only partially. For instance only switch off mobile connections while leaving Wifi turned on or the other way around?
Please keep up the good work :good:
Thanks for this app!Yes, it works fine on LG G5 .
It turns airplane mode on, but turning off isn't working. Android 10, Redmi Note 4, crdroid 6.11.
Update: on the 5th try it turned off. Really strange.
At least most of the time it works perfect on Android 9 (S4 Mini i9195, lineage-16.0-20200515).
I let it switch automatically, and rarely change settings or otherwise interfere.
I vaguely remember some failure, I might have rebooted or cleared cache in the past to solve it.
But that is so rare, that I can't remember exactly.

General OneUI 4.1 march broke accessibility

I use an accessibility app from here that allows long press volume up + down to activate and deactivate flashlight. Worked fine even screen off no aod on OneUI 4.0 Feb but after updating to 4.1 it barely works and only with screen on.
So, I decided to test other stuff and yeah it completely broke accessibility.
The touch and hold delay setting does nothing, it always takes like 2-3 seconds for anything to activate even when set to very short 0.3s, no longer works screen off at all.. GG Samsung..
Lol, my one N10+ is still happily running on Pie.
Upgrades and updates can and do break things.
It's a Samsung tradition... Samsung will eventually patch it.
Try clearing the system cache as that may correct it.

Clearing cache didn't help but thanks for the tip. And thanks Samsung for not allowing us to access recovery without the usb-c plugged in.
It doesn't work on aod either. Only when fully waking the device. I wonder if this is intended behavior or just a huge bug.
Can anyone else on a S21/+/Ultra with march 4.1 test accessibility shortcuts on screen off state?

Your welcome.
Try in safe mode to rule out a 3rd party app interference.
Try clearing the data in the accessibility apk.
Turn off Developer options temporarily.
Play with it, there's probably a fix or work around.

Did that, no difference. I did figure out what Samsung did actually.
They changed it so that long press volume up + down is 3 seconds and ignores the long press delay setting completely. And it also no longer works screen off while it used to work fine.
They also changed auto rotate sensitivity which makes it rotate with the slightest motion which is annoying as hell when reading something I'm bed for example as it constantly rotates..
Rolling back to Feb 4.0...
Do you have com.samsung.SMT disabled or removed?

This is one reason why I almost never upgrade or update. I don't like rude surprises.
Still running on Android 9 and 10; if it runs well I leave it be.
Funny what you say about the display flipping too easy; I get tired of waiting for it to transition.
They should have user settings for that by now.
Wonder if there's a 3rd party app to dial that in?

Themes / Apps / Mods App with Lockscreen, NFC and Wifi Quicksettings Tiles

Hi guys.
Recently bought the phone and have been enjoying it so far.
Couple of nags appeared while using it. The lack of doubletap to sleep and the lack of NFC tile (because I don't want to be blasting my google wallet all day).
So after some investigation and some GitHub fishing I was able to develop an app that does both. The goal was to be as clean as possible and avoiding having background services, especially continuous Acessibility services.
THE APP HAS NO INTERFACE!!!
So what the app does is give you an app icon that you can put on your homescreen. When pressed, that activates an acessibility service that locks the screen and allows use of fingerprint or face unlock. The lock is instant with no fake black screens.
The main advantage here is that the app kills itself and the acessibility service also kills itself so the service only runs for 0,03 seconds while turning the screen off.
You also get a "Lock" quicksettings tile that does the same and a "NFC" tile that activates and deactivates the NFC directly through the tile, updating the status dinamically.
Advantages versus other apps like Tasker:
- Zero background services
- Zero battery usage
- No continuous acessibility services that change how apps behave and introduce lag (see: https://www.xda-developers.com/working-as-intended-an-exploration-into-androids-accessibility-lag/ )
To achieve this the app uses the android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS.
Install instructions:
Install the APK, than go to acessibility and try to activate the service, it will be greyed out. Go back to apps, find the app and press the 3 dot sign on the top right, press allow blocked authorizations or something like that.
Then go to ADB (search on XDA or the web if you dont know how to do that) and give the SECURE_SETTINGS authorization with:
Code:
adb shell pm grant com.buildingromspt.lockandnfc android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
After that the app is ready, use the launcher icon or the quicksettings tile to lock the screen or use the NFC to turn it on or off.
Enjoy!

Requires location permission to show the current connected wifi network name, you can disable the "precise location" slider.
Pretty cool! Nice work! This was one of my main gripes as well. I just picked up the s23 Ultra which does have the NFC quick setting, but I'll have to give this a try when I flip back to the Pixel for a change of pace.
I'd be interested in a similar solution for a WiFi quick setting - a few less clicks than drilling into Internet first.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm planning on adding a wifi and a Android Auto tile when I have time
Fantastic !! Something i was waiting for a long time on a Pixel ! Thanks for your great job ! I agree for a wifi tile and a transparent widget for lock the screen if it's possible ?
Thanks again.

Unless the power button is broken or something, I think the hardware buttons are good enough to last a really long time. Other components are likely to fail before the buttons do.

Getting used to the buttons is just a matter of time. I would rather get used to the different layout than have an app that runs with Accessibility 24x7.

No, you should not do that. That is "old school". After the first 7862 releases FYT has changed that. I need to remove that from post #2 in my thread. (Thanks for reminding me )
Go into "Settings -> User -> Application Setting"
It determines which applications you want to auto-start when you start your car and unit. That is of course not the same as a "no kill", but works just as well.

it helped me to remove the navbar. There is no navbar now and it is beautiful.
Is there any difference between skipkillapp.prop and auto-start?
I actually don't want the application settings to appear on the screen when the unit starts. So keep it in the background.
In this case, when I auto-start, will the application settings be displayed as if I opened the application manually or will it stay in the background? And another thing I noticed when the unit restarts, the accessibility option is deactivated and I have to give permission again. Isn't there a solution to this?

"qemu.hw.mainkeys=1": That is a standard one to enable/disable the nav bar, but please check if your unit remains stable and if the systemui doesn't start crashing.
"Is there any difference between skipkillapp.prop and auto-start?" Yes. skipkillapp prevents the apps from being killed so they stay in memory in their active state. The application settings simply start the app on coming out of sleep or a reboot.
If you want a "nokill" system use @mariodantas kernel or @seb21 modded com.syu.ms apk.
Maybe I don't need navbar gestures because I removed the navbar below, but I already have navbar-like buttons in the upper statusbar section. So I don't think I will need it anymore.
by the way, yes it works stable and I didn't get any errors.

skipkillapp is a property file for android OOM (Out of Memory) mechanizm. It is good to place desired app on that list to prevent kill that app in case of memory shortage.
The actual "no kill" list is inside of syu.ms.apk : protected_app.txt.
And for the reboot. The FYT software does not start any third party app. To auto start an app there must be two conditions met :
1. the app must have autostart feature
2.the app must be whitelisted in pwctl_config.xml
