[How To] Install The New GOT Update On Milestone

Hello My Friends I've Heard You Are Having Troubler Installing The New Upgrade Or Understanding What Is Needed To Be Done.
Note: THIS IS A WINDOWS BASED HOW TO AND WILL WORK ON WINDOWS ONLY​
Before I Start I must Say, This Is a combination of process and I have not created any of those files or own the right to them so all the links are the same links found on other posts from where i got the info, so by downloading those files you are, supporting them not me i take no credit for this work
Well Here Is the quick Easy Guide In How To Do This
-Fist we Need To Get The Tools To Perform This Operation

EDIT: G.O.T. Has Added the burnerable open recovery to these sfb files so no need to flash it latter
-Now That We Have The Stuff We Need We are going to do it, fist i must say that unlike other roms that are applied by a backup restore (corect me if im whrong) this is a full flash and its going to reset everything so no apps will remain no setting will remain and is highly recommended that you uninstall every app you have, don't back them up(except for apps some apps that have a create backup file, those seem to work) just uninstall them, and when we are done have them installed again, Here Is A Tool That Will Help You Get There Faster
1.ok you have everything uninstalled right? now time for some action
2.install the proper divers (32 or 64)
3.install the RSD Lite tool
4.unzip the 2.2.1 FIRMWARE FILES you downloaded and you will find a ".sbf" file
5.now connect your phone to USB cable and turn it off
6.boot it in boot-loader mode (press the D-PAD UP key while pressing the power button), some night need you to release the button after a minute, a black screen will be shown on your phone and you will see the divers being installed on your computer.
7.when drivers are done open the RSD Lite tool and your device should appear you can click on it to see details.
8.now click on the "..." buttons that are close to the start button and look for the ".sbf" file, after a couple of seconds it should be ready to start
9.press the start button and do not unplug the cable or let your computer show the screen saver or go to sleep, the posses must not be stopped while it has started .
10.when the posses is done the devise will restart and voala, you have 2.2
-As GOT stands there are some bugs on the firmware and they have developed a fix to them and get root and overclock, here is what you have to do.
1. unzip the got open recovery tool into the root of your SD card
2.check this quote
NOTE: On some devices, we have encountered that rooting directly after flashing without rebooting after the initial flash can bring some issues with RootExplorer not asking for root permissions. To be safe, reboot after flash so that the “welcome to milestone” menu comes up, set up the device in general, then reboot to recovery and root the device as well as apply our 2.2.1 tweaks with Launcher, Services.jar fix and Wireless Tethering app.

this means if the fist time your milestone got restarted and you saw "Welcome to Milestone" Message You are good an you can root.
but if you didn't then restart you phone and see if the message comes out, if not , a factory reset should have that scree message shown.
3. open the open recovery by pressing camera and power button at the same time while the device id off. you should see a scree with a "!" symbol on it then press fist volume rocker up button a leave it pressed then press camera button, some letter will pop out.
4. using the pad scroll down to "apply update.zip", after a couple of seconds the GOT menu should pop out (everything from now on uses the pad)
5.root your phone (why not)
6.go down to "Launch 2.2.1 Menu" Option.
7.Here you will see the "Fix Bugs They Are Talking About
One of the first things you should do is use the “Fix 2.2.1 bugs” selection in the new OR 2.2.1 menu after you flash the sbf file.
This tweak will fix some of the issues with the generic sbf build such as dual USB notifications, replacing some stock Motorola applications such as the old launcher/mediagallery and adding the Wireless Tethering application.

8. there is the overclock too.
Now your device should have all the things you need to start playing with it,I encourage you to check on some tweaks the GOT team might have, and you might want.

A. If Not Installed The Update Yet(Needs Root)
-Install This AppAndroidID
-Back your android ID up, and put ir somewhere safe
-follow the guide to update to froyo
-Install This App againAndroidID
-restore your android id
B. If Already did it(Needs Root)
-install this appAndroidID
-invent a number that might serve as your android ID (you need numbers and letters)
-input it on the app

okay nice tut, butttttt... im stuck at the part where i should install openrecovery. at first, to come to the "!" screen, camera screen + power did not work. i got there by pressing X + Power... but now i dont know how to access the menu where i should install update.zip..
please help!

okay i got it, im so sorry, i used the up button on the dpad

Also I did not see a launch 2.2.1 menu option. But I have currently launched the GOT open recov without an issue. I have rooted as well as many other things but didn't see that specific menu.

Silly question are you suing the newest version?
if you press down should on the open recovery menu it should be your sixth option, I have recorded a video about it this morning but its backwards I'm Going To Try And Have it Fixed and up today hopefully

your Should use the rom depending on which band your phone has
German milestone should work with Europe ROM
under setting about phone check the Build Number
and look for that same number in here

hi there. i have instaled europe GOT_RTEU_2_2_1FULL.zip version and now sometimes my touchscreen does not work. i mean that if i put the phone in standby and i try to unlock the touchscreen is not responding. i have to power off/on to make it work again. thanks in advance

Facebook app wont Synch with my contacts on first launch of FB app.
No other bugs so far...

My milestone works fine so far, but 3g mobile hotspot and wireless tether not working.
Flash on milestone is so cool

something i don't get
I updated the firmware with RSD Lite, and used the one click tool, because:
whenever i try to hit update.zip i will get an errormessage, stating that these blocks couldn't be found -> ergo, the card not be mounted.
The HTC stuff i always managed, but this one is a mistery to me. Also, i did format fat32, pushed the stuff and then straight on bootup trying to hit the update.zip, without success.
I've read about how other people solved that problem, none of those approaches helped me.
Any hint is more than welcome.
2 bugs i've discovered so far: Battery drain like almost to be declared useless, some market apps "vanish" after installing them. I suppose those fixes would have done the job. I might attempt to use root explorer and execute the scripts like that, still I'd like to know why I'm unable to get the update.zip, resp. the G.O.T or any other "intelligent" boot menu installed.
Edit2: Even when installing the vulnerable sbf, i still get the error: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 ....

This could be for any reason try this
-Re download and re flash the files(do the whole thing again)
-there is an app i have called sd dual mount that makes my screen go crazy wen i connect the phone to an usb port, it was stable on 2.1 but now goes crazy on 2.2 check some of your apps to ensure they are not the ones responsible for this

you can try and uninstall the wireless teeter app an have it reinstalled that should sort it out

have you tried re downloading the files and doing all over again?, it could be a broken file
thats why i tell devs and chefs they should add an MD5 sum to their files larger than 20MB some errors are caused by just having downloaded broken files

Superuser whitelist app FCs instead of prompting to allow access. Have tried using Better Terminal for root access & also Wireless Tether app.
Anyone else getting this? Any ideas? Do any of the 1-click root apps still work with this build of Froyo? Which can we use?

i can confirm this. Simply trying it a second time worked for me

I'd like to add something for Linux users:
Using a virtual machine (virtualizing WinXP) that has USB support (eg Oracle VM VirtuaBox, since VirtualBox OSE does not support USB forwarding) can do this pretty easy. So no worries when trying this via a VM.

i try to instal GOT and its succesfull.
but why i install the application not bring to SD card
but still bring to internal memory
many said 2.2 automatic have app2sd

hi, here's the Easy root tool I used for my pantech burst (edit: works for Win 7, not tested on Win 8):

Unzip this file into any directory. The directions are:
- On the phone, turn on USB debugging before running the bat file.
- Connect phone to the computer
- run RunMe.bat. Choose option 4. Let it boot 2 times as it goes. Quit from the PC command window after it boots up and is ready.
- Then update Superuser app, and choose Root in its preferences.
- Then get Super Manager free from App store, give it root permission (settings) and now you can remove stuff.
That should do it but I'm not sure. You can try and see what happens.

Battery backup? You mean just the battery right.
The battery in pantech burst is not good, but 10% every 20 minutes is not right - but it is fine I think (?) if that is when you are using the phone, watching video or playing a CPU intensive game.
But if its just lying on the desk with screen off, then the 10/20 is not right.
You can remove extra apps. Maybe you have some app that is taking CPU.

You can remove the ATT apps and others. Be careful in removing apps. I cant find the list anymore.
Yea delete apps. GPS should be off too. Just factory reset to make sure nothing is wrong. Clear dalvic/data/cache etc.
Search around.
Also disable any automatic task killer. It may be eating up CPU

Unfortunately the steps you provided didn't work with easy root normally they do but would it be because im running windows 8?

If you use twrp or Philz recovery you shouldnt loose root because before reboot, both ask if you want to install supersu in order to maintain root. Probably you didnt read that
I never loose it.

I try to put TWRP, but i bricked my smartphone. I ran a file that should not be executed. Now i have a beautiful brick :crying:

Thanks my friend, But I tried to use system update to update to the new version and after it downloaded about 58MB and restated the phone in recovery mode the TWRM doesn't work it's just flashing its splash screen I have to press and hold the power button to restart in normal mode. Now I can't use the TWRM how can I fix this problem?

1st of it seams that you've gor a wrong download firmware. How can it have just 58Mb?!
You should think: What the heck!!!
Were you able to enter in recovery mode? Pressinboth VOL keys?
If not try this:
At my signature go to "All K910 Tools"
Download the "Install TWRP Easy & Clean" and follow the guide
If that doesn't work your only solution will be through adb i think

It's 58MB only update not the full ROM package using the OTA update. I think OTA update add command to TWRM boot but it doesn't work.
Previously I used the VibeXpert to add Recovery mode to my power menu I didn't use "VOL keys" but I think I'll get the same result.
Anyway I'll try to reinstall the TWRP and I'll get back to you just in case any problem.

I tried to install CWM-6.0.4.6 and it works well, then I installed TWRP again but I've the same problem.

2. You my try install philz recovery from my k910 tool thread. This is the most compatible I've found until now.

Lets Start ​
The Idea of this trick is to fake the Imei number of second mobile which will make Whatsapp think that it's the first mobile and keep receiving messages without ask to re-verify .
step 1 :
In first mobile . Dial
Code:
*#06#
, You'll find the Imei number (15 digits) , just write it on piece of paper .
step 2 :
Open Titanium backup , Grant Root permission and backup data of Whatsapp , you'll find three files in dir
/sdcard/Titaniumbackup
copy them to your desktop
step 3 :
Install Whatsapp, Titanium backup.
Install Xposed frame work , and thin install Donkey guard module .

step 4 :
Open Donkey guard, find whatsapp, and select settings , Identity , thin click on pen icon next to Device ID
Popup will show up , write the IMEI you get from step 1 , and press save , then click on floppy icon in upper corner to save the rules , then close donkyguard.
step 5 :
copy the files you get from step 2 to /sdcard/Titanium backup
Then open Titanium and perform a restore .
That's it , easy right ?
Now you can use chat with your friend from two devices without use another number .
For me I'm using YouWave from Laptop and mobile

**Note**
1) It's impossible to recive messages on two devices on same time , The device which is connected to Internet will recieve the messages , If both were conncted, The last devices you send message from will be the receiver .

You got t he Notification and the message once .
I mean when you got a notification on the first Device , the second device will not get the message and will not got notification .

I couldn't make it work. Titanium backup doesn't seem to work on my pricipal device. Always got a storage problem error.
Is there any workaround for the TB step? Tryed to copy the system folder and the media folder but with no luck.
Also i'm using lollipop in one side and the JB on the other. This should cause any problem?

If I have a backup of conversation, but only this, and I want to use this method to get the key file, there a possibility of this be done? Or can I read old backups in the new phone without problems?

But with this method the chats from old mobile will be automatically copied on the new one.

md1_db and ap_db files. Are there ways to get them somehow. I lost my IMEI and trying to write it with SN writer, but manufacturer did not send me those files, just tool.

Menaged to restore IMEI. Engineering mode doesn't work because there is no CDS settimg. SN writer also not working because of mentioned files missing.
At the end I had to root device, install mobile uncle apk and another tool within mobile uncla app and write it from there.

Yes it is multi-language, you can follow the tutorial without any issue.

Just pay attention to keep an EMEI. Don't select download only, ot format+download. Keep it on firmware upgrade!

Which ROM? 20170908 or 20170526?

Thanks for the rom my son has problems of malware and publicity on a fresh install whith 20170526.
I will try the 20170908 (installed whith flash tool, need to Set Download-Agent to MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin because of a previously error 6012 (BROM ERROR: S_SECURITY_SF_CODE_COMMAND_FORBIDDEN (6012), MSP ERROR CODE: 0X00

Unfortunaly after a few week same problem, lot of crapp application installed

and ads how appear in full screen or only on bottom..
Maybe my son instal by errors one of them because, popup suddenly appaer whith only 'install" button but she use the phone no more than 10 hours since december..
any advice to remove/check the rom ?

same problem, very iritating. i rooted and deleted all thar junk so we shall se if it worked in the next days.

seem like it worked, no harmfull app notification, no sudden battery drain, works well. although still having problems with proximity and light sensors, they don't work all the time. anyone with a solution?

My father have the same phone, and the same issues. I plan to flash the stock ROM and root it.
Which apps have you removed (pretty important, cause I can access to the phone just for some days, when I visit him) ?
And how ? Something like root uninstaller can do the trick ?

First you have to flash ROM.
NOTICE:
1.before connecting phone to PS always remove battery
2.Doing "Firmware upgrade" will not work, "Download only" also not working. Do "Format all". This will erase your IMEI, but after flashing and rooting you can install Chamelephon from Play Store and write your IMEI.

After rooting install Unninstall app from Play Store and it would suggest what apps you could unninstall. As i remember there are apps like Medias and com.android.com.service, and so. AND VERY IMPORTANT, if you ever try to sign in vit another Google account, or new account to your device, medias will emerge again, so you need to erase it again. It seems that it is a bug that appears with signing in to Google.

What exactly do you mean by :
before connecting to PS (<= is for SP Flash Tool ?) always remove the battery (it's seem also unclear in the ppt, at a certain point, it's said to turn off the phone, then connect it for doing things with SP Flash Tool, then turn on by pressing Volume Up and Power Buttons. Is it right than we have to do it with the phone off ? And without battery like you suggest or we just remove the battery for a complet reset, and put it back when connecting to SP flash Tool, or let it remove when using SP ?)
com.android.service seems effectively a part of the problems, it appears in android warning message he receives. It could be usefull to create a list of apps than could safely be remove, for fixing the adware issues, I will do it, but I certainly not doing it before some weeks, I don't have the phone right now.
Thanks for the IEMI trick, I didn't know than an IEMI could be delete so easily.

It is a typing mistake, I ment PC. When connecting phone to the PC with USB you need to remove the battery first (it doesn's say so in the instructions), because if the battery is inside the phone will start charging and connecting to PC like external drive and na Flash can't be performed. When formating and flashing with SP tool is done, than you can disconnect from PC, insert battery, and Root with instructions below through Recovery mode.

This adds popup, and background ram eating processes are a common problem with cheap smartphones from alixpress. There are several "cleaned" ROM-s from PDA developers for Gretel A7, but I didn't want to risk because the phone is now working fine, no bugs etc. Only thing that is pain in the ... is a proximity sensor that doesn't work, and it seems to be a hardware issue, so i need to manually turn off screen after answering the call.
