So probably few of you already know that S22U is using a x axis motor instead of z-axis. This new motor is used to enhance the haptic feedback, however this has reduced the vibration intensity on the device. I got the device last day and was driving with device in my pocket on vibration mode. I missed notifications and calls for an urgent situation as the vibration was so soft and i didn't noticed it. Luckily i had old s8+ on me where i got notified.
My situation doesn't allow me to have a ringer on all the time. I am now thinking of returning the device just because of this. I really loved everything else on this device. Sad to see that samsung engineers screwed this up. No more pre orders going forward.
The vibration motor doesn't really bother me. I am able to feel whenever it goes off in my pocket. And I don't wear skinny jeans lol. Maybe you would be happier with a Motorola since you are a Motorola lover?
I'm experiencing the same with my s22 ultra. I'm coming from a S20 plus which the vibration alone could be used as an alarm clock. Definitely disappointing, considering how much of an upgrade this phone is.

I remember when the s21 came out and reviewers were complaining that the motor was too strong when it was laying down on a table. It was too loud. Now they make a motor that's quieter and now people complain that it's too quiet. It's a rough business

Seems to me to be why there is a setting to adjust the strength to one's personal likes. The issue is it only goes so high. I agree with the OP. I noticed it being weaker despite being set wide open.

Nah.. i ain't happy with motorola anymore.. there was a time. Anyhow.. good for you if you don't find vibration an issue. But it certainly is much more weak. If S21U had strong vibration.. people had option to dial it down.. Here the problem is weak and we don't have an option to increase it, unless samsung does some sort of firmware upgrade to increase intensity further.
A reviewer noted that they're using a different vibration motor this year. It's definitely less strong and there was mention that it moves in a different direction than previous models.

Have my 22 Ultra for a week now.... had to change the vibration to another pattern, otherwise I wouldn't recognize it at all..... that a major downgrade from my old S20 6.1".
People shouldn't call this an improvement at all, thats some kind of fanboysm.
Vibrations purpose is to quietly inform you that you are receiving a call or message, if that does work worse than before, bad decisions have been made.
I still have the possibility to just enable notification vibration on my Galaxy Watch4 , but this comes at the cost of enabling this for every damn notification (teams, telegram, whatsapp.... ) and you know that this is draining the battery pretty fast.... especially if you have friends that spam every now and then...
Samsung implemented the x-axis in the most terrible way. Hopefully Samsung can fix this via an update, but highly doubt it since it's most likely the hardware.
I actually love the refined feel to the motor. It feels great in the hand.

only when its in hand.. if its in your pocket..(specially with loose pants / jackets ) .. you won't even feel the vibration and will miss notifications & calls !

the vibraton is to low since s6 edge, on note 20 ultra i dont notice any message and on s22 ultra it is more less as before , i ask me why samsung not remove the motor, because for this low intensity it is as it has no motor,
i make it with soundmanager of goodlook app, with custom vibration and make a pattern very long so it's a little pit better, maybe someone make a app like light flow to set a costume vibraton for every app

Coming from an s21u I definitely feel the difference in the vibration intensity as well. In my case, what "solved" this issue for me was pairing my s22u with a samsung smartwatch. That way I can feel the notifications vibrations in my arm and never miss it. I know it's not a solution for everyone, but it worked for me at least..

Has anyone noticed variations in how strong the vibration is across the MT4G? I originally ordered two on a family plan and have exchanged one of these a few times. I noticed that the one original one that I've kept (a plum one) has a nice strong (and loud) vibration, while the few black ones I have had through exchanges have all had a relatively weak vibration (some more weak than others - and all weaker than the plum). Any other thoughts or experiences with this?
I have the white version. I remember first turning on the phone and thinking "HOLY CRAP, THE VIBRATION ON THIS IS A MONSTER". Definitely the strongest vibration I've seen in any phone I've ever owned. I found it to be unusual at first, but I've gotten used to it.
I have a white one with the new screen and it the vibrate is alot louder than my g2. I love it!

I got a black one and it has strong vibration. Kinda wish you could adjust the intensity, like you can on the Galaxy S. These have a much better screen than those, though...
Comparing my black model to my friend's plum model, I can definitely say the plum has a much stronger vibration effect. That doesn't matter to me though, since I keep all vibrating functions disabled.

Agreed. I find vibration alerts to be annoying. The first thing I do after flashing a new rom is disable the vibration alerts.
Mine seems to be just perfect for me, not too strong but enough to alert me. I would like to compare them to other MT4Gs just for the sake of knowing where mine stands though.
Just received my replacement with the "superior" screen, and yeah, the vibration is noticeably weaker on the newer phone. Not to say that it's necessarily "bad", just that my original phone had ridiculously strong vibration.
Anyway, obviously not a deal breaker, and having the better display is way, way more important. Loving this phone again.
My vibration is fine. Definitely feels more natural than the Vibrants vibration.

The haptic feedback settings for non stock applications also seem to be very different.
For instance in SwiftKey when you turn off the stock vibration it feels completely different. Using non stock it feels like a vibration on other phones. With the stock vibration it feels more like a click.

Yes, this was the FIRST thing I noticed when setting up my phone. It was SUPER annoying!
All the reviewers keep saying how great the haptic feedback is and how it's almost as good as an iPhone. I agree the iphone's is nice, but this one does not impress me any more than the Pixel 2. I'm not saying it's bad, but does anyone else notice the vibration when you tap the bottom of the screen (for example, the back button), seems to originate from the top of the device. It feels very disconnected from where the taps are taking place on the screen.
At least with the PIxel 2, the entire phone vibrated seemingly equally no matter where I tapped. Either way, I just turn off vibrations for on screen buttons anyway. They drain the battery and don't make any sense. My brain already knows I'm touching a flat surface that isn't moving, so why try to trick it into thinking otherwise with a vibration?

Yes, it's damn annoying. If you look at the teardowns you'll see Google had put the vibration motor like next to the fingerprint sensor ???

I love this phone, but reviewers give it way too much praise for as many flaws as it has. Definitely not worth the $800 price tag.

This is so true.. Me, the ultimate phone whore, looking for that most ideal phone for me, who runs trough all phones possible (pixel 3 is my 5th phone in a period of 6months (iphone x, s9+, iphone xs max, pixel 2 ) was also super thrilled when I was hearing them reviewers claiming that the haptic feedback on pixel 3 is the best ever on an android phone.. Bull****..while its quite nice to type with vibration set to low (only setting which makes it ok sound wise) its still the same ****ty haptic feedback as on any other android. None of them come close to that of an iphone, where it feels supernice and natural, especially on the smaller ones where the palm covers the phone in full.
Nonetheless, for me, Pixel 3 is the best phone out-there - great performer at very compact size with best camera* (*photos)) in business + I really like how google skinzzzz its OS - colors, animations, widgets, all of its just looks nice.
How do people who have this device like the vibrations? I'm curious, because my phone makes this awful noise with every tap. I'm wondering if maybe I got a faulty phone.

My haptic feedback has been fairly normal. Vibrations have been almost as powerful as my Note 8, but I have not experienced any awful noise with every tap.
I would almost bet there's something odd going on with the motor.

Yeah I'm going to try to find a store that has a demo unit. I may have a faulty one. Do you know if the G7 and G7 One share the same haptic engine motor?
I know haptic feedback engines vary greatly between phones but I thought the G7 was regarded as having one of the better ones. The strength seems fine it's this buzzing noise that bothers me. Especially at night, when it's quite. My wife has a Pixel 2 and the haptic engine on that phone is so nice.

I do not know unfortunately if they share the same motor, this is the first LG phone I've used in a while since the G6 first came out.
I wouldn't doubt it though as they seem to be very similarly built. Hopefully you get the issue sorted!

It's a good phone, lots of functionality and software options.
It should be a great phone but there are three things that do annoy me that I notice all the time.
The side fingerprint sensor combined with power button isn't nice to use in some circumstances, especially if fingers are slightly damp and it doesn't read the print, refuses to unlock and you're trying to press the power button to PIN unlock instead and it registers too many attempts.
The screen is just a bit too narrow. I miskey on it a lot more than with my Axon 7.
Another screen thing, when attempting to touch a selection on a web page, the accuracy when zoomed out is not as good as my Axon 7 and I have to zoom in first. Sounds trivial but is quite annoying and here I am comparing a 900 dollar phone back to a 400 dollar phone and not finding the cheaper one to be a worse experience.
The whinges out of the way, there is a heck of a lot of good about the S10e to enjoy.
Garbage
Bootloader is locked so that right there makes me give it 1 star. The phone is mine so I should have the ability to root it if I want. C'mon Samsung or anyone affiliated with them, let us unlock the fu**ing bootloader; your warranty is sh*t anyway. Peace!!
I'm pretty happy with the hardware, if you could unlock the bootloader. Inevitably Google changes something that you can only revert with something like Xposed. Or there's OneUI stuff you can't change (like moving or getting rid of the clock on the left of status bar).
A few minor things I miss not being rooted. Battery is a little on the small side. I came from a Droid Turbo, and that thing was a tank so I didn't need a case.
A lot of little things about OneUI I don't care for, and can't change. But my main gripe is notifications on this phone are a nightmare. It took me FOREVER to find and setup an app to give it a notification light, and then get notification reminders to work properly (still isn't perfect). And yet with the chaos of too damn many notification options, it STILL is inadequate and inflexible - if your app doesn't let you set its own notification sound, or OneUI ignores it, you have only the default system or ringtone sounds. You can't otherwise set a different sound for text notifications.
I guess the more I think about it, the lower my rating goes. It's working pretty good for me, now, after DOZENS OF HOURS searching out workarounds for mods that were easily done in a custom rom. And on that basis I have to give it only 3 stars.
I might actually consider trading out for the Pixel 4a, which looks to have a similar footprint. But no wireless charging would be a deal-breaker.
Missing certain features to make me love it 100% but I am pretty happy with it. My first galaxy phone (had the nexus and the epic 4g which were both terrible). Besides that I had an Asus Zenfone 2 and an Axon 7.
This is a really nice device. Good build quality. I\ve had better for the same price or cheaper.
I am very happy with this phone after losing the fight with my Sony phones to get them to work with VoLTE in Australia. the S10e is a good size, (not quite as good as the Xperia compacts), and is responsive to most commands. the battery lasts really well and the screen is very good.The fingerprint sensor drives me nuts and works only randomly. The finger print sensor on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 work really well and I miss that. I have a Galaxy tablet and the finger print sensor is no good on that either. All in all, a quality phone that will hopefully last me a few years.

Have you checked the quality of your fingerprints? My mother had the same issue, turns out her fingers have almost no fingerprints. The fingerprint scanner on the S10e is awesome and you should not be having any issue whatsoever.

I am sure after years of being in trade work my finger prints are compromised, but the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 worked perfectly with my fingers, where the S10e is hit and miss even for my wife who's hands are not abused like mine. Typically repeatedly get the message "cover the entire fingerprint sensor". Sometimes it work instantly, other times even the facial recognition does not work, but most of the time it does. Love the phone though.

Thats weird ,as i found the vibration to be same as pixel 3 xl if not stronger and is definitely more stronger than 6t.
Its so weak it looses its essence. thumbs down for that

Agreed! Coming from the 6 to the 7 Pro I was really anticipating better vibrations...no go.
Why are these simple things so hard to accomplish? Is it that some of the motors are from a bad batch? Should they not all have the same specs? Is it something with the amount of power the motor is receiving? I also have mine on the strongest setting and it is useless...still cannot feel it in my pocket at all. :crying:
