Question Gcam - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Is there a working Gcam for the Ultra? Is it even needed for the Ultra with its Samsung capabilities?

Why would you use GCam when Samsung has done a terrific job on their camera? You also lose a lot of features of the Ultra with GCam.

I mean, you don't LOSE anything. You use GCam as a secondary camera app. Not as a replacement for the stock app.
Options are good

So far I'm actually not too impressed with the stock Samsung camera on the Ultra and I'm coming from the S10+. The pictures are pretty splotchy and not too sharp especially when zooming in. Something that seems to have been consistent on all Samsung phones which is why I normally see better results using the Gcam. Also this camera seems to lag when taking a photo after hitting the button theres an annoying delay where I cant really clearly capture anything moving even slightly. I'm hoping they release some software updates for this. I'm using the US Snapdragon Unlocked Ultra 256gb variant on VZW.

It'll definitely work. But my S22 Ultra shipment is quite delayed so I won't be able to create a profile for it any time soon.

The AGC GCam from my thread. Pretty sure it doesn't fully work right after install though and I had to change a few settings around. Don't remember what they were though.

Exynos or Snapdragon? I had a chat with a guy who has the S22U Exynos, and the AGC GCam crashes for him as well. Strange as it works fine on my S21U (also Exynos). I guess a specific fix is needed for the Exynos 2200
nvm, just read that you have Snapdragon model.

Ok so I played with it again at Best Buy today. The reason why it's a little difficult to work right out of the box with GCam is because current GCam builds use the traditional hardware camera IDs whereas the S22 Ultra defaults to logical IDs (like the new Pixel 6).
With that said, I got it working with the Shamin 8.4.400v7 build by adjusting the camera array values. Here are the steps:
1. Download and Install APK
2. Download attached XML and put it in the Internal Storage > GCam > Configs8.4 folder (make the folder if you don't already have it)
3. Run the GCam and give it permissions (it will crash after a few seconds)
4. Run the app again but quickly switch to video mode to avoid it crashing quickly
5. Open GCam's settings and go to additional settings > configs setting > XML save directory
6. Don't change the directory but just hit OK
7. Go back to the main screen and switch to video again so it doesn't crash
8. Double tap on space between shutter and gallery to load XML

Wow this worked out great! Only have been testing out Camera mode and portrait mode so far and they both are working pretty nicely! Thank you!

does it work with exynos ?

Gcam is usefull especially indoor, because with the native app, it's a mess. Shutter lag is strongly present.

One other question - Is there a way to get the saturation to be a bit less? The color saturation is pretty extreme in certain shots and some shots have a yellowy tint to them too. I've been trying to play around with the color and saturation settings but cant seem fix it. Otherwise the shots look great!

In my case, oversaturation is caused by AWB (auto white balance) for some reason. So I keep it disabled.
Try taking a picture with AWB enabled, then another one with it disabled.

Where can I find the APK every time I click on the link you have it just downloads a bin file

For saturation, go to additional settings > color transmission and change it to system. It could potentially become desaturated using that mode.

Do you have Motorola one vision phone?
Bump. ?Im also curious about Gcam on M.O.V, anybody tried already?
The Play store says it's not compatible.
Maybe there's a way around that.
Not sure what it would add compared to the Motorola one or OpenCamera to be honest (I used it on my Nexus 5 until last week).
I've tried a few modded ones but none of them worked fine so far.
Yeah, i'v tried 3-4 versions for exynos, and no luck. App's starts properly, I see the user interface, but no view from camera, just black screen. May it need some app settings changes?

You don't go to Play Store if you want Gcam on your non-Pixel device.
You use apk files to install them

Have you tried the gcam for snapdragon? As incredible as it seems it takes some functions, nothing else in night mode or portrait mode, which I tested was one normal if I'm not mistaken
The latest beta version by @Arnova8G2, at the following link, has many features working on Motorola One Vision (not all, though: Night Vision and a few others are not working and device is seen as 12Mpx instead of 48Mpx): https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/

Did you compare this mod whit stock camera app, is quality better than motocam?
I don't think the two can be compared at this stage. The porting shoots at only 12Mpx and not at full 48Mpx as the stock camera.
Maybe in future releases...

It may be that the gcam doesn't take use of the quad pixel technology like stock cam do, and therefore won't see it as 48mp.
Stock can doesn't actually save the pictures in 48mp but at 12mp (12x4=48) when it's sampled down, but ofc with better details and light.

I had this one out around 15 days back - https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.1.190614.0200.apk
Couldn't take a portrait. Couldn't capture 1/8 slow motion vids. Couldn't attempt night sight and photobooth (whatever that is).
But serious question - Do we really need Google camera? By 'we', I mean casual users. Not hardcore shutterbugs.
PS - I didn't try changing settings.

YES we really do need GCam. Try using any other Portrait mode shots with any other camera (flagship or not) and tell me if the processing comes anywhere near as good.
I've tried Gcam on many phones and the quality is consistent enough to justify the need on this device.
Hopefully someone can find a working gcam, or ask the appropriate modders if they can port one for us.
try this : MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-TlnNeun_Urnyx05-v4.3.apk
and use this configs : mackytravel-nightsight.xml
(search from google)
and you can try and find the best correct setting (Exposure compensation,Libs,Adjust saturation,.............)for good quality picture by yourself
(How to use config : Create a folder name Gcam inside that folder create a new folder name Configs and download below’s config and paste it, then open gcam and tap the black area in viewfinder and select this config then restore.)

Google Camera for Op7 Pro

Hello everyone, I am creating this thread to provide the stable and beta builds of gcam, to avoid confusion and to keep the forums clean.
Thank you @S4turno(Celso) for hosting, mirroring, translating and sharing all a to z Gcam..
Special Thanks to @Arnova8G2 for all his support and hardwork !!!!
FAQ GOOGLE CAM-
I CAN'T INSTALL X VERSION, WHY?
Make sure you uninstall every other GCam Port on your phone. You can't have two 6.1 gcam versions installed.
HOW DO YOU SWITCH BETWEEN CAMERAS?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/127r0_UNKMNY5MN5OrWYZISEleK8cZj4x/view?usp=drivesdk
HOW DO YOU USE NIGHTSIGHT WITH THE DIFFERENT LENS?
Select the lens in main mode, switch to Night Mode, then double tap the Camera Switch Button.
WHY THE FRONT CAMERA IS 4MP AND BACK CAMERA 12MP ?
Selfie camera uses pixel binning, same as for the main sensor. Since camera2api implementation only delivers a 4MP raw stream (16MP/4 = 4MP because of pixel binning)
GCam can only work with what raw stream the API delivers.
Same goes for back cam.
WHICH GCAM IS THE BEST ?
There is no best gcam. There are stable and beta builds which work fine for daily usage, but not the best. There may be some crashes here and there.
WHICH XML IS THE BEST ?
The xmls provided in the folder whose link is given below are the best at the moment.
HOW TO USE XML ?
A link to Celso Azevedo site is given below which clearly explains how to import and export xmls.
Mod Edit: Link removed
WHY COLOURS ARE DULL ??
Sometimes the settings may not be applied by the xmls, and in 6.2 gcam, you need to manually set saturation levels.
Also changing awb can help.
Use the xml.
Use the settings from the given screenshots for 6.2 gcam.
WHY CAMERA CRASHES ?
Changes in libs may cause crashes, in such a case clear app data.
WHY AUX CAMERAS ARE NOT WORKING ?
You need ROOTED DEVICE for now to use aux cameras.
METHODS TO USE AUX CAMERAS- There are 2 methods:-
1) Setting selinux to permissive by-
1a) Using nfs injector magisk module or renovate ice magisk rom.
1b) Using custom kernels like Kirisakura or Smurf
2) Installing gcam as a system app-
2a(Install any of the 6.1 gcam app as a standard user app by installing the apk as you would normally.
2b)Open the camera app and enable the usual set of permissions (local storage, camera, etc.)
3)Use the magisk module given below
https://drive.google.com/file/d/19lwuT8koKQG3dod9nW2xzVHxWGQR-K3W/view?usp=drivesdk
The link below will provide the Gcams working-!!
THERE ARE 1) XCAM BETA 11
2) GCAM 6.2 WITH XML SUPPORT
3) GCAM 7 BETA
IN THE FOLDERS WHICH THE LINK BELOW PROVIDES !!

Another link for xmls-
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/oneplus-7-pro/
*These are the stable gcam, everything works perfectly except slow motion, stable for daily usage, also they support auxiliary cameras.
If you want to use aux cameras in
night sight and video mode, use xcam.
TO USE XML ON 6.2, LOAD XML TWICE!!

Star Cam based on Gcam 7 (STABLE)-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.0.009_StarCam_v1.apk
*For gcam 6.2-
Firstly, after installing apk, go to settings, go to about and enable "Enable Advanced Mode"
*For 6.2 Urnyx gcam-
It is a simplistic mod, not much to edit.
Guide:
- How to use manual controls?
- First of all, you must use HDR+ Enhanced. Then, enable the options in settings to show the sliders (only the 1st time). When you are in viewfinder to take a photo, click on "Pro" button to join the pro mode, where you can see all the sliders. Now, you can set any values you want. At the end, tap on the screen to apply changes (otherwise it won't work)
NOTE-
1) Only this version of 6.2 supports xmls-
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.2.2beta2.190907.0540.apk
2) Slow motion doesn't work for now.
3) Lens distortion in wide lens.
How to have multiple gcams installed-

Thanks! This works great....running intl version rom on tmobile op7pro with elementalX kernel... Used the desaturated xml, looks good. Also turned down saturation for main back camera as it was still a tad high....its weird because in viewfinder(screen) it looks ok, its only when the photo is processed is where saturation gets boosted....those settings are under "advanced" " highlight saturation" 1.3 and for "highlight shadows" 1.1 .....for anyone that wants to know. Also turned up jpeg quality to 100

Google Camera 7.2 Astrophotography For Realme X2

I making this thread for Realme X2 Gcam 7+ because the settings and tweaking are a bit different from the the 6.2 and 6.3 Here
This is to avoid confusion as I won't have time to do tweaks on both 6+ and 7+ so, that it.
After trying over 25 different Gcam ports, I finally got a Gcam 7.2 that works for Realme X2 but you have to tweak the settings like I did to get the best.
The full tutorial is on YouTube Here:
I will drop some camera samples and the screenshot of my settings here incase you don't have time to watch the tutorial.
While you are there, you can also watch Adobe photoshot camera for Realme X2 too. I was surprised it worked fine.
It blew away the stock cam in Night sight there is no need to talk about the Astrophotography and I didn't bother uploading the samples comparisons between Night scape and Astrophotography - it's not a fair fight. But you can see it in the video.
Low noise, more details, close to real life color reproduction, and ability to tweak makes this 7.2 a thing of joy.
Still no 4k video but 1080p 30/60fps works fine.
No slow motion and wide angle lens too.
Apart from these, everyother thing works fine.
Great credits to @Urnyx05 who ported the camera for ( several devices) of which realme-x2 isn't one of.
I added a new seperate Youtube video tutorial Mastering Gcam v7.2 Advanced Settings for Realme X2
So you can watch that if you want to get the best images from your Gcam.
I am adding the direct link of the of the Gcam 7.2 by Unryx05 I used to be sure some people don't download the wrong one and have other issues I didn't experience. As I said in the video, I've tested over 25 different Gcam ports so make sure you are using the exact one I am using so as to Easy replicate the issues you are experiencing with my device. And talking about devices mine is Realme X2 EU Version (8/128G) RMX1993.

Hi, thank you so much for the detailed guide and feedback, I'm waiting/looking for a version with slow motion and wide lens working, but still had no success. Please let we know if you find something.:fingers-crossed:
For those who are looking for a working Gcam, I am working on one with the great devs for Gcam including Urnyx05. The problem with Realme and BBK devices are they do not have correct color for gcam to process. Arnova helped greatly to fix it, and Cstark's apk works somewhat now. Also we will never be able to access the ultrawide lens or any other lens as Realme did not grant camera2 ID or access to them. Potentially root could work, but I am rooted but nothing works. We really need a kernel dev for our devices.

I almost gave up on Gcam because of that 'annoying' color processing from realme. But once I learnt to tweak it, I got a higher saturation with Gcam more than the stock cam, I knew that the Realme X2 has a great future with custom Roms. We just have to wait at least for Indian lunch on 17th Dec and maybe the customization will bloom.

I did a full tutorial on how to tweak Gcam 7.2 Mastering Realme X2 Gcam 7.2 advanced Settings
I believe this will help everyone get the best pictures from their Gcam.
Please make sure you download from the link or if you are downloading from Urnyx05 thread download version 1.4 of Gcam 7.2

Can I ask what config file you are using and how are your results compared to the in built camera app?
Thanks
There was a guy on a thread here saying he needed testers for gcam
Now I am on EU ROM I think I will test

So I ended up trying a couple more ports and, for the moment, Greatness 2.1.1 (Urnyx based) is working best for me overall.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1346/
It has all of the rear lenses showing and working with proper toggle names already. Also, I found that all of the 7.4 builds ended up giving me really noisy results with the ultrawide lens, which doesn't seem to be an issue with 7.3 builds.
Here's my personal config if you want to try it.
So far I think gcam vastly improves the ultrawide lens in all shooting conditions. It also lets the 5x lens have a proper night mode. The stock camera app is really good imo for the main lens; not sure gcam adds much there yet. For some reason sabre is crashing on the 5x lens (not sure why, since its a Sony sensor). Hopefully that can be fixed, would definitely help zooming with gcam.

It's the xml file I attached to my previous post. To be honest though at this point I'd recommend switching over to the latest Wichaya 2.8.1 port; it's working even better imo.

There's a good xml by Dennis posted in the Mi 10/Pro/Ultra TG group for this port.

Thank u very much for your advise. Sorry but I'm a bit of noob here.
I do not see any .XML file. When I click on XML file on your previous post, it shows the details, No way I can save or download it as XML file.
When I click on the link that u shared, it prompted this message;
!! Configs from 2.7 (or older) may not work well with new versions. Use the new ones from this page or create your own config !!
Do I download the apk file onto my phone, and the xml file is in there?

Hmm, tbh ot sure why it won't let you download the file. Def recommend checking out the telegram group though or maybe try this link:
MOD EDIT: Link Removed
To load a config: after you download and install the Wichaya apk, open the app and go to Settings > Configs > Save and then just save any config name. That will create a GCam/Configs7 folder in your root storage with whatever you named the config xml saved in it. Then whenever you download an xml config for any port, you can just move it into that folder. Then, after you open the gcam app, the xml can be loaded by double tapping the black area around the shutter button.

Thanks for links. Would be great to see some low light pics. I wonder how the phone handles Gcam as in shutter lag after pressing the button, ability to "tap to focus", how fast it processes pictures, and if the HDR produces purple grain in some low light situations.
Would ofcourse think the gcam will only get better and better as development continues for this phone.

Question Modded GCam for Pixel 6a with Motion?

Is there a version of modded GCam that works on Pixel 6a, and has Motion mode from the Pixel 6? I haven't been able to find much about it, but i understand that the 6a is still brand new so it might be a little bit.

Would it be possible to extract an APK from this version of gcam? Or would it have to be baked into its code for these new modes to work without root?
I really don't like the native camera app for pixel 6a in low light. It over processes the images a lot and darkens my selfies in low light making it look far worse than my previous device poco X2. Are there any good gcam mods for pixel 6a which can rectify these problems?
Try the Urnyx one, works for pixels https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1526/

Hey thanks for the reply. This mod has a significantly better processing than the native app but it crashes whenever I want the change the zoom from default 2x to 1x . Also changing to any other zoom level doesn't work. Is this mod working for you flawlessly?

Maybe because that mod is almost 2 years old, works for Pixels 2 to 5.
Try this one. It has the option to change libraries
BigKaka: AGC8.4.300_V9.2_fix2
Download AGC8.4.300_V9.2_fix2 by BigKaka.

I alternate between MWP-NoiC library and Matteo19 library depending upon the light. You can go to the telegram group Gcam Libs and try out various libraries yourself.
edit: this was a reply to berserker2702's question which was a separate thread, it has nothing to do with motion. IMO there was no need to consolidate because it is totally different even though it is related to gcam.

MWP Gcam in advanced settings you can choose Camera UI from Pixel 6 and Motion appears, but I don't know if it works, if anyone can verify it... Thank you.
Can't try it cause I'm spoofing pixel 6 camera with MagiskHide Props Config

Yeah when you select the Pixel 6 UI the Motion modes appear but I haven't had much success using them. It takes the photo no problem but then it gets stuck with the notification... Processing HDR+ and there's no way to see the result. Pity as I would love to get this working without rooting my device.
works for me on blissrom 16.3, june security patch, thank you.
