General P50 Pro is now available for pre-order in several countries in Europe - Huawei P50 Pro

Personally I'm waiting to see if there's a GMS sideload method. I rely too much on google unfortunately. I had a P40 Pro for a while but back then it was possible to sideload Google services so there weren't any major issues... Unfortunately the Mate 40 Pro (global version) users cannot install Google Play Services TO THIS DAY, and I'm afraid it will be the same with the P50 Pro. The only "solution" is to buy a Chinese variant from China. For whatever reason, the LZPlay/Googlefier apps work on Chinese variants but not on Global ones. Not ideal!
Also the price is kinda high. €1199 in France. Freebuds Pro included for a short time. I was hoping it would be below €1k but I was deluding myself.

Price is 1199€ in Germany stores also, not very competitive pricing, but I guess some people will still buy it.

By pre-order, I bought a Huawei P50 Pro (JAD--LX9, Snapdragon 888 4G) in Russia on February 8 for 1025 euros. According to the promotion, Huawei Watch 3 Active LTE 46mm (305 euros) was received as a gift with the order.
I think it's a great price. Taking into account the fact that Samsung S22+ we have 1100 euros on pre-order, and S22 Ultra 1420. And as a bonus, there are only Galaxy Buds Pro (160 euros)

Mate 9 Pro released today in Scandinavia

If you as me is loving the design of the Mate 9 Porsche but not the price, there is good news. The Mate 9 Pro has been released today in Scandinavia at a event held in Copenhagen. The Mate 9 Pro is basically the Mate 9 Porsche without the Porsche branding, and at around half the price.
The Mate 9 Pro was released in China a few weeks ago, but it is great to see it released in Europe.
Avalible for preorder now, delivery starts on 20. of december.
Price 5.999 DKK (appx. 800 EUR) for 128 GB version. Preorders includes a pair of Huawei AM185 Active Noise Cancelling earphones.
Full specs: http://consumer.huawei.com/dk/support/products/technicalspecs/mate9pro-dk.htm
It's a nice phone but the screen size is to small for my tastes. Hopefully they will still release the same specs with a 5.9 inch form factor.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yep, 5.9 a must have!

I like a Mate series screen to be big ha ha
Quad HD would have been nice but full HD is good too in real life if you don`t use VR.
Any online shop taking preorders?

Currently it is only available for pre-order. It will be delivered from december 20. It can be pre-ordered from most of the mobile service providers and a few tech-shops like http://www.elgiganten.dk/product/mo...T9PGY/huawei-mate-9-pro-smartphone-128-gb-gra and http://www.wupti.com/produkter/mobil,-gps-og-foto/mobiltelefoner/huawei/huawei-mate-9-pro-gold. I don't think they ship internationally thu, and the mobile service providers definitely dont.
The phone will probably be available from more shops after it becomes available for delivery.
It doesn't support SD card slot though. Neither does the Porsche edition apparently. They claim it's due to support for 3G/4G on the second SIM but from what I understand the regular Mate 9 does support both. Just wanted to throw that out there.
I'm currently strongly considering picking it up but I'm deeply concerned about dev support considering the Kirin SoC, multiple SKUs with varying specs and potentially few devs picking up the device due to price and availability.
The pro variant including porsche design scored less in performance and graphics compared to the full fledged Mate 9.
So choose what you want in your Mate 9. Performance or Looks.

That's a given. HIgher resolution display and the same chip in a bigger device usually gives a higher thermal headroom resulting in better benchmark scores but the difference should be negligible.

You know , I sold my Mate 9 for the only purpose of buying the Pro variant with 6gb/128 configuration.
Well until someone confirms that we can get a pro with Google play installed officially.

Well, as this thread indicates, the Pro can be bought with Google Play installed
(However, it will be released on December 20th, so that's a long way to go if you intend to install the Scandinavian ROM on what I assume is a Chinese variant?)
In fact, If I buy the Mate 9, I can only buy the Pro unless I buy from another EU country. The regular Mate 9 has not been launched in Scandinavia which disappointed many and they said at the time that they had no intentions of bringing it here. Fast forward three weeks and the Pro was announced to launch and the Pro will be the only Mate 9 variant in the Scandinavian market. So I'm guessing that the Pro might only be on the market in China and Scandinavia which makes me question the development for the device :/
It saddens me a bit that the Pro will actually be a step back in some regards compared to the regular variant: no SD card slot and slightly decreased SoC performance (as you mention), fewer color variants (only two colors for this market: gold and grey) - and some would say the fingerprint scanner moving to the front is a downgrade as well. I also saw some disappointment in the AMOLED display not being a 6" (or larger) one; the complaint being they wanted an actual big phone but I don't mind too much personally. I have a 5.2" device now and it already slips out of some of my pockets due to the size, so a 6" behemoth wouldn't help in that department
They probably couldn't source a decent AMOLED display at that size although I'm curious as to how well calibrated the display is. Huawei and other Chinese manufacturers haven't been known for their attention to that kind of detail. Samsung, the Pixel and the OnePlus 3(T) have well calibrated AMOLED displays but the rest of the market seems to neglect that.
Call me guilty, I put my Pixel XL for sale and bought a Mate 9 (second time after the gold M9) with my favorite color Space Grey (no more silly black borders).

Congratz! I knew you would come back...
Well, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered the Huawei Mate 9 Pro in Space Grey. So I'll be getting a nice Christmas present.
I just hope development for this device will pick up because it will certainly prolong the life of the device; however it does seem from reviews that it's a great device.
I'm coming from an LG G2 which has been somewhat of an underground success with a fantastic developer community around it, so I doubt any non-Samsung/Nexus/Pixel/OnePlus device can live up to that but hopefully it will be enough
I have the Porsche Design and placed alongside my mate 9 the screen size difference is negligible due to the on screen navigation buttons on the mate 9.

Is the Huawee Mate 30 Pro value for money compared to other flagships?

In my country it is a challenge to get new flagship phones shortly after launch. For that reason, I tend to resort to eBay.
At this stage I can get a 256GB Galaxy Note 10 with 8GB RAM for U$900 or the 256GB Note 10+ with 12GB RAM for U$1030. (shipped)
In comparison, the best price I can find on the Huawei is the 128GB Mate 30 Pro with 8GB RAM in black for U$1100. (shipped)
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro has better camera hardware and Face ID technology but otherwise the Note 10+ has more storage, more RAM, MicroSD slot, dual speakers, higher resolution display, S-Pen and Google Mobile Services.
I really would like a Mate 30 Pro but I honestly think that Huawei is just asking too much. The phone is great but it isn't the best in every aspect of the hardware and it's unfortunately unable to use Google services.
It is not reasonable to ask U$1100 for the Mate 30 Pro.
If it was priced at U$850 - 900, I would probably have made the purchase already but instead, I'm contemplating the Note 10 despite having my heart set on the Mate 30 Pro.
Do you agree?
Wait a bit more time to buy it. HW sell at much lower price in China and Malaysia
Sent from my YAL-L21 using Tapatalk
Seems China price is about 30% less than Europe($810USD). If you can get someone buy you one and send to US, you probably end up paying $920-950USD(shipped) for 128GB 4G version.
And don't treat this piece of electronics same as other cheap product you found in Walmart made in China.
price on aliexpress with the Broken screen insurance
Honestly, if it's going to be hard to get Google services on this phone, then it can't compete with other flagships. Would need a massive discount for it to be considered good value.

General Where to buy from

This looks to be the ideal 'compact' flagship phone.
Will update thread when resellers have it.

That's probably you're only option unless there is a global release. Custom roms are good with popular Xiaomi phones.
I would have already ordered if it had all LTE bands .. but some are missing (for Germany)

I purchased some from a Retail store in China. So far they've been really great....I just need to change to global version as Im not a fan of the CN one.
I got mine from a seller on eBay UK. CN rom with Google apps side loaded. Got the phone plus 3 cases. It cost me £450 after eBay gave me a discount.
I agree with eshlad about the CN rom, especially the Chinese notifications plus it doesn't connect to my car.
It has one plus point though, better signal reception than my Mi 11.

I also have great experience with TradingShenzhen. I also have after sales experience. You can read more about it here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/axon-40-ultra.4445957/post-87356365 I used the refund to buy the S12 Ultra, which should arrive in about 10-14 days from China. They have the 256 Gb version in stock in Europe, which should arrive in a few days without additional shipping costs. Good luck!

1 year return to them in China but I can confirm they do honour this and if you use the right route, it doesn't has to cost much more to ship there than it does to Germany now we're not part of EU . Both good service.
Aliexpress to avoid.
In comparison with the 12 pro:
A bigger battery, ip 68 but no 480 Hz sampling frequency, camera less good, 3 bands less, I find it expensive compared to the 12 pro.

Battery identical to the 12 pro and it's really the fault of this phone, the autonomy.
Lack too many 4g bands for my region
I would rather go for a Mi 11 ultra.
I bit the bullet today and ordered the 12 S Ultra. I have done some testing and only once I saw band B20 so we'll see. The current demand for 12 Ultras in Europe is huge so selling it back won't be a problem if im not happy with it
I bought it from Quickmobile.ro very nice price, 20% off and QUICK202 is a 3% off voucher.
I paid 6199 RON, which is about 1250 EUR. Waited 7 business days to arrive via courier, right at my door.
I'm waiting for the original case now, bought from giztop
I got mine from tradingshenzen. They even emailed me to say that they have a same spec device that a customer didn't collect, in a distribution center in Germany, and would I accept it instead of a new delivery from China. It arrived the next day. I've seen them recommended on other forums too.

Question S22 Ultra / Magic 5 Pro / OnePlus 11

Hi all.
I'm currently looking for a new phone, and currently have 3 choices.
Honor Magic 5 Pro 512GB: USD 930 (Honor Official)
Samsung S22 Ultra 256GB: About USD 600 (Like New Second-hand with no warranty)
OnePlus 11 256GB: About USD 812 (OnePlus Official)
Which one is a better value for money? Appreciate all comments, thanks.

I would never buy a used phone. No way to know how it was used by the previous owner.
S22U would have been my pick had it been new.
I don't have too much idea about the software on Honor device. But it is a very good phone based on reviews.
In this case, I'll go with OnePlus 11 just to be on the safe side.
Have you considered other phones like Vivo X90 and iQOO 11?
Ah, the vivo and iqoo aren't available in the region, but the s22u is "Certified" by the marketplace app.

Use the reply button so I get notified.
The S22U tends to run slightly warmer. The battery life is average at best. On an average, I get about 5 hours SOT (mostly on WiFi) and a standby time of about 15 hours when the battery is at 15%. They have sorted this out on the S23U, so if you can stretch your budget, you should consider getting that instead.
Everything else is excellent, even if the software has a few bugs here and there.
Between the S22U and the OnePlus 11, I'll go with the S22U only because of it's cameras (S-Pen is a bonus). This is not to say that the OnePlus 11 cameras are bad. They are very good too. But the S22U is better.
OnePlus 11 has the better SOC and lighter software on its side. So it will give you a snappier performance and better battery life.

Brand new is better. If you read through the forums here, you'll read about people who bought used phones that were essentially paper weights because they were either stolen, or bought then resold without being paid off, and Samsung locked them.
