Phone Hacked... Again.

I have a Galaxy SIII mini which has been hacked 4 times in the last 8 months that I have had it. Usually, the first 3 times, were kids doing pranks, turning on my bluetooth, etc but this last hack was malicious. Started turning on my GPS, bluetooth, and camera flash light then progressed to changing my system language and finally making it so that my sim couldn't connect to any cell towers. I have tried app locks, but this last time inspite of two seperate app locks, he succeed with ease to change my settings. I also subscribed to a VPN with a NAT firewall and that didn't help at all either. Now I have redid the OS again, this time installing CM 11 and I welcome any suggestions on how I can stop this from happening all of the time. Thank you.

what kind of hack are you talking about? is someone using your phone, or remotely accesing it?
remotely accessing it. no one has physical access to my phone.
You should set a encryption password for your phone and use the app : Lockdown pro to restrict access to everyone who don't know the password.
Stay tuned for my first CM11 theme soon.
What do you mean by encryption password? You mean to encrypt my phone?
I did install that app. One thing that I really like about it is it's ability to stop the installation of apps which is what I think that the hacker is doing: installing some sort of app on my phone.
Settings > Security Settings - Encrypt phone > see instructions there .
@Gaon101
Stay tuned for my first CM11 theme soon.
After doing more reading online, I believe that the hacker(s) may have their own 'cell network' and may be exploiting my phone whenever it connects to it. How can I prevent this from happening if that is the case?

How can I do Problem Free USB/WiFi/Bluetooth Tethering on ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra?

Hello everyone!
Can anyone please help me with the correct guide to activating Tethering on this phone with Windows 10 x64. It is very annoying that there is no one simple solution and/or set of drivers to initiate tethering. Each time I activate USB or Wifi tehering, the windows network bar states that it is connected but there is no internet. My data tariff does include tethering and I was able to tether on my previous Samsung phones and Huawei P8 Max with no issues but with this phone, it is either too complicated or there is a problem with the phone/set of drivers I have that is causing this issue. Before you ask, I have tried lots of workarounds on Google and Youtube including clearing cache and enabling driver signing on windows 10 advanced recovery in start up but so far none seem to work. I did manage to momentarily get tethering working but not sure why it does not work consistently and hassle-free. It really does not need to be that complicated or annoying to get such a simple feature enabled. I hope someone can upload the correct, hassle free method and USB/tethering drivers for this phone or I will have to wait until ASUS releases Android 7.0 for ZF3U to see if the problem is resolved. Thank you for you help or comments/findings in advance!

Skipping initial setup because of no connection

Hi guys,
I am in China and unable to setup my phone. I did a wipe last night trying to reset it and I am stuck where it asks for wifi or mobile access to setup the phone. I am unable to change the captive portal yet at this time so it believes it has no net access though it does. Any workaround to this? I have scoured this forum before posting, any help would be great! I am working to enable 4G access and phone calls at the same time. Think I have a solution. Just can't test it till I get past this step.
Edit: I also tried to tether to a phone with a VPN only to learn that is a big no can do as well.
Thanks
Ok,
So after two full days of researching and trying various things, I found a way to hop out of the firewall. Thought I would share in case someone else runs into this issue.
1) You need a second phone, it needs to be rooted. I used an old Samsung Note 4, using CF to root it with Odin.
2) Once rooted, you need a vpn, I used ExpressVpn.
3) Also you need to get TetherVPN. It only works with a rooted phone.
4) Last, you need a sim card capable of a data connection.
5) Connect the Pixel to the shared connection from the rooted phone.
6) Activate VPN
7) Activate TetherVPN with su privileges.
8) By this time, the Pixel should have timed out trying to connect to the internet. Retry at this time, do not change networks. I tried 4 times in a row before the dread "x" from the wifi disappeared.
9) Quickly go through the steps, skipping all you can to get to the normal home screen. At this time you can reenable debug mode.
10) Once debug is enabled, using debugging send command: adb shell "settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://developers.google.cn/generate_204". This will keep the dread "x" out of your wifi signal with or without a vpn and allow normal wifi usage in the mainland.
As promised, I am working on a workaround for Telecom to enable 4G access and phone access. Currently, it looks to be used on 7.1.1 (NOF27B, Mar 2017) release of XL, thus the wipe and downgrade from 8.1.0 (OPM1.171019.011, Dec 2017). Once I updated to 8.1.0, I lost access to all data. Switching with *#*#4636#*#* did not restore 2G or 3G, however phone access and SMS was still working.
Once I run it through the paces and the translation to try. I will post an update. If anyone knows a better soultion using 8.1.0, I would love to hear it!

Why downloads quickly fail on android and don't with windows and how to fix that ?

Hello, I have 2 android phones and both have the same problem: if I let them download some big files slowly for hours on sites like k2s, rg, df etc, the download is usually interrupted after a few hours/minutes while I never meet this issue on a windows 10 computer which is also in wi-fi (and which is in my bedroom, thus why I want to download with a silent phone when I'm sleeping). I guess it's mainly due to those sites being intolerant to any second where the phone is not downloading, but as I said, I don't have that problem with windows, so what is it, is android highly unreliable for downloads or what ?
You should check your Power Saving setting. Maybe you should make sure to enable some option like "Keep WLAN connection while sleeping'.
I don't have Power Saving setting, it appeared on android 5 and I have 4. All I have is "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" which was already on "always" and "Avoid poor connections" which I already unchecked.
I don't know, sometime download fail after 30mn sometime 10 hours, and if I download multiple files they won't even fail at the same time.
I can't accept the idea of buying a newer phone for something that simple, I mean, I had no trouble with that with a windows mobile 12 years ago, I wouldn't be sure that it would fix the problem and if after 4 versions there is still something wrong like that, it's pretty obvious that if I buy the very last android it will also still have some big bugs to which some would quickly tell me to buy an even newer phone (which would once again not be reliable and so on).
Isn't there some apps that could somehow fix that ? My only other option ironically seems to use my old HTC Universal but it would have limited memory and it would be annoying to copy paste links to it since it can't directly solve modern captchas.

Maybe there is an occasional interruption in your network at some point that a PC can tolerate without timing out but at the same time android can't tolerate without timing out.
Or maybe it is a wakelock of some kind in the background of your android system that is interrupting the download.
Or maybe it is the android system's wifi re-scan interval causing an interruption that lasts too long for the download to persist.

This problem is also with windows when download from chrome or firefox or whatever but it appears more in android.
The solution is common for windows and Android both....
1.For windows, Use Internet download manager (Almost everyone use it to download any kind of files)
2.For Android, Use Adavanced Download Manager (ADM),,It is similar to IDM and works perfectly..
It can resume files by refreshing link if not normally..As i said completely similar to IDM and there is no other match for this on android as i tried many other download managers but they are not ideal
Personally,,I download big files like upto 5 GB with ADM on android...It is Great!!
Hope You are satisfied!!!!

XCover 4 - Why would my NFC disable after 1 minute ?

Hi,
I'm working on an app that requires a NFC tag permanently behind the phone, as I need to read data from it at different moments.
I programmatically check if the tag is connected every 2 seconds, if it disconnects, it logs off the user as the card is required for the app to work.
It works well on some of my XCover 4 and 4S, but on some of them, the NFC disconnect after 1 minute, and I have to lock/unlock the screen to make the phone able to reconnect the tag, if I simply move the phone away from the tag and put it back, it doesn't reconnect it.
Did anyone encountered the same issue and got a solution ?
Thanks
