Liking it out of the box, deleted as much google crap as possible right away. Nice phone!

Mine was just delivered to my place of work. I don't go back until Monday, so I won't get to enjoy until then. Can't wait.

Sorry. Missed the edit. That's a bummer.

Honestly I like the phone well enough, it's snappy, and battery life and charging is pretty decent.
Gaming is buttery smooth, though I've only played Pokemon unite on it lol.
One complaint, when using the gesture mode for back/home/recents, it takes a really exaggerated swipe up to about mid-screen to get to the recent apps carousel. It works, just takes longer than I'd like I guess.
Also, having issues getting the native screen recorder to do its job, but maybe im just doing it wrong haha

Any working microsim adapters?

Hoping one of you might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have a Nexus One that I would like to use a MicroSim on. I have tried two different brand of adapters, and found that both of them are too "think" to fit into the Nexus. What happens is, after getting about 1/4th of the way in, it gets really tight. At that point, it can be forced in, which I did up to about half way. When I tried to take it back out, I had to use pliers afterward.
So, obviously I am worried about breaking the Nexus is I try to go further with these ones I have bought. The Nexus still works, and is wonderful with a normal Sim. But I would really like to get this Micro working.
Also, just as it is important to note, I have made sure I am inserting it the first direction, the notch is in the right place, etc. It is really coming down to how think the adapter is.
What I think I need here is as thin an adapter as I can find. Anyone have any suggestions on one to try, and where I might be able to buy it? Also, if anyone has successfully used a microsim adapter I would love to hear it.
Thanks
Jim
Why dont you just cut up a plastic card? just print out a stencil and cut yourself an adapter

Thats not a bad idea, but frankly I suck so bad at making anything by hand it is normally easier, and higher success rate, to just buy something most of time.
On the other hand, based off of the amount of information I have been able to dig up on this (in other words, next to nothing), I might just have to give that a shot.
Thanks
Jim
Why do you want to use a micro sim card, can't you just ask your carrier to give you a fullsized sim card?
Well since there are only about 2 devices that are popular which use micro sims, hes probably sharing a plan between his nexus with an iphone/ipad.
Both of these are tested and working on my Nexus One. The Amazon one being a more secure fit for the card. The links are to the stores actually purchased from so should be exactly the same.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003OG8G6W/ref=oss_product
http://negrielectronics.com/mini-uicc-microsim-adapter.html
I switch the SIM back and forth with my IP4 and Nexus One all the time and both are solid. No flames please. I'm still an Android guy. The IP4 was purchased cheap from someone who didn't like it.
If its too think maybe try some sandpaper on the adapter? It really shouldnt take much sanding to get it to fit

That should be your first plan. Sand it a little then if that doesnt work spend the money to get the other adapter
+1 on the Amazon one.
I use it myself and it works perfectly. Much better than others I've used.
FYI - I bought a total of three of the adapters from Amazon. The one linked earlier in this thread is the only one that would fit.
So thanks for the link to it!
And yeah, I was lazy and never sanded anything down. Sorry, but my luck I would screw that up. I am not handy in anyway at all.
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.

Crisis....need help asap

So long story short. My girlfriend tried to be helpful and took the sd card out of my evo, shoved it far down in the xoom. How can I get it out? Now I'm with out a phone and I have a sd card jammed in the xoom.
Damn man.....well I know that happened to Kellex from Droid-Life and he said he'll have to get it back when he sends it back to Moto for the 4G upgrade......Or you can crack the bad boy open yourself and get it out.....ifixit is your friend

I think your only option, especially if you CANT see the card anymore is to tear the device down, here is a how to:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Xoom-Teardown/4989/1
If you can still see the card then try some tiny tweezers, with the device turned off.
Good luck

Yeah, but in his update his managed to fish it out on his own. He did need to remove some screws though.
Update: I got it out. followed the fixit steps. Word to the wise though, Motorola has the inner screws extremely tight. I ended up stripping out one of the screws for the top portion of the back cover. I had to very carefully cut the tab so that the top portion could be removed. With the bottom portion re-installed and the gel case back in place it is not noticeable. Also after getting in there...where does the sd card go? I'm guessing that clear plastic thing has to be removed. Oh and I'll kill my girlfriend if she ever touches my xoom again.

[Q] SD Tray sticks out a bit, anyone else?

The larger SIM tray is flush even recessed but the SD tray sticks out and looks like a power button. As much or a little more than the power button in fact.

Check to make sure you have inserted it properly. The first time I inserted my sdcard it appeared to be in correctly but the device couldn't read the card. A drawer pull and reinsertion fixed that.

Too expensive currently would rather have 32gb class 10

Amazon lists the Sandisk 128GB at $120 while Best Buy lists it at $200. Think I paid $70 for 32GB card a few years ago.
I'm doing alright. Found out I need a third surgery on my arm which isn't fun but hopefully it will help the ridiculous pain. How are you? For SD cards 128 seems overkill especially with the read write restrictions on 4.4. I got a 64gb class 10 about two years ago for 70$ at best buy. Could've gotten it cheaper but with how quickly those can die I like to be able to swap them in a store. Saves time

Good luck with your surgery. With a 128GB card, I could put all of my music and maybe some other media on there. There are also a few ways to get around the KitKat restrictions.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but has anyone found an effective way to remove small pieces of lint/dirt/etc. from the speaker grills? I just recently noticed that there is this tiny little spec (no idea that type of material) stuck in my top speaker grill, and my OCD is killing me right now... I tried to remove it via blowing on it, as well as trying to dig it out, though neither succeeded. Any suggestions?

Quite a few of my speaker holes are blocked too. VZW is sending me a replacement anyways because of my display. I have backlight bleed at the bottom, and can actually see the LEDs at certain angles. Also I have faint spots and smudges that I can't seem to remove. Maybe the oleophobic coasting is defective? Hopefully I don't get a refurb since these phones haven't been out long.

Yeah, I agree with @Evocm7, I would be careful with that SD card. I imagine that it isn't SanDisk, or PNY, because of its listed price, so I would watch out in case it randomly "dies" (while this hasn't happened to myself, I have a friend whose SD card died and he lost close to 20 GB of pictures). I have been thinking of upgrading to a 64 GB SanDisk for a while now, and am trying to decide between that, a 128 GB memory extension on my Macbook Air, and a keyboard case for my iPad Air. Decisions, decision... I think I am leaning more towards the memory extension, as I have yet to even fill half of my M8's internal memory, much less the 32 GB micro SD card I have in it now.

Actually, I found a fix. I put packing tape over the left and right sides of my speaker grill (trying to cover as much as possible without overlapping the spec), and left my speakers on high volume for a couple minutes with the display facing down but raised from the surface below. For good measure, I chose to play hip hop (lots of bass, which by my understanding of how speakers operate generates the most air movement), and after I picked it up, THE SPEC WAS NO MORE! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

If it is through Asurion, you can expect that it will be a refurbished device. Otherwise, it will most likely be new (I cannot imagine THAT many people have returned their devices, after all it has only been out for such a short period of time).
So is this off topic still? Lol
Received my replacement M8 today. Looks like a got a CLNR according to the paperwork. Looks brand new to me.

Second SIM slot

Can you lucky guys who already have the Mate 9 please clear this up?
The second slot - is this really dual purpose, can you choose whether to use it for a memory card OR for a second SIM?
Thanks!
It's either a second (nano) sim or an sd card up to 256gb. I wish you could have all three at the same time, but it's already quite rare to have a dual sim phone here in Europe.

Yes. You can share it between a SIM or a microSD card.
Many thanks albireox. That's good to hear.
I'm really impressed with the spec of this phone. They seem to have got just about everything right.
I'm particularly pleased they they have chosen not to follow the trend to a higher screen resolution that just wastes battery power.
Looking forward to FedEx arriving with mine on Monday!

I use it for a few days now and it's the best phone I ever owned. The screen is really gorgeous so nothing to worry about that.
I have used the phone almost a week and oh boy it's so fast and smooth
What I like the most:
-screen it's so bright and shiny
- speakers so loud and clear
-the gesture on screen
-battery oh boy solid and no drain
-so many options in the camera
-fingerprint you have to see how much it's faaaast
What I don't like:
-notification that show number instead of icons but I think with such issue updates will solve it

Alas, the Porsche and Pro variant doesn't have the hybrid functionality. They only have dual sim; no SD card slot. A bit strange that the more expensive models have a reduced feature set.
If you are willing to do a tricky operation involving a lighter, scissors, double-sided tape, and luck, you can have all three at the same time.
