Question VPN setup on A22 5G - Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

Hi,
I tried to setup a VPN on the A22 5G like is was done (and working) on the Samsung S7.
Same look and feel of the menus so my guess was to copy/paste all info between the two phones.
Result on A22 5G is:
When starting the VPN session the phone starts a reboot.
Seems to be a light reboot since it doesn't ask for the PIN to unlook the phonecard ?!
Login to the phone requires the pattern.
What can I do to setup the VPN right?

Galaxy S6 Wifi Hotspot cant be found on other devices

Hello everyone,
Longtime Samsung user here and believer in unlocked phones. Recently purchased an unlocked Galaxy S6 to use on Tmobile. I have it setup and working (data, wifi, and calling works flawlessly). However I've encountered an odd issue, I can start the Wifi hotspot, however no other devices can see the SSID being broadcast to connect to the network.
I did several hours of research, even found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...e-hotspot-active-connect-wi-fi-t3098933/page2 ; which pointed me to a couple of solutions I tried:
Enable/disable Wifi power saving
Make sure only approved devices isn't checked
Manually select a Wifi channel (tried auto and manually selecting channels to no avail).
The phone allows me to activate the tethering, and I do have a Tmobile plan that allows tethering, I just can't find the phones SSID on any other device during the wifi network scan (tried multiple other phones/tablets/computers).
This functionality allows me to work remotely on the road, so I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you all may have. Unfortunately due to the BYOD policies in place at my organization (and the root check in place in our apps) rooting is not a problem.
I am open to a third party tethering solution if one exists for this phone on T-mobile. Haven't been part of that scene in some time, so I'm unsure what apps are reputable, so any recommendations there are appreciated.
Wanted to add that the phone was purchased new from Amazon and has android version 5.1.1

Skipping initial setup because of no connection

Hi guys,
I am in China and unable to setup my phone. I did a wipe last night trying to reset it and I am stuck where it asks for wifi or mobile access to setup the phone. I am unable to change the captive portal yet at this time so it believes it has no net access though it does. Any workaround to this? I have scoured this forum before posting, any help would be great! I am working to enable 4G access and phone calls at the same time. Think I have a solution. Just can't test it till I get past this step.
Edit: I also tried to tether to a phone with a VPN only to learn that is a big no can do as well.
Thanks
Ok,
So after two full days of researching and trying various things, I found a way to hop out of the firewall. Thought I would share in case someone else runs into this issue.
1) You need a second phone, it needs to be rooted. I used an old Samsung Note 4, using CF to root it with Odin.
2) Once rooted, you need a vpn, I used ExpressVpn.
3) Also you need to get TetherVPN. It only works with a rooted phone.
4) Last, you need a sim card capable of a data connection.
5) Connect the Pixel to the shared connection from the rooted phone.
6) Activate VPN
7) Activate TetherVPN with su privileges.
8) By this time, the Pixel should have timed out trying to connect to the internet. Retry at this time, do not change networks. I tried 4 times in a row before the dread "x" from the wifi disappeared.
9) Quickly go through the steps, skipping all you can to get to the normal home screen. At this time you can reenable debug mode.
10) Once debug is enabled, using debugging send command: adb shell "settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://developers.google.cn/generate_204". This will keep the dread "x" out of your wifi signal with or without a vpn and allow normal wifi usage in the mainland.
As promised, I am working on a workaround for Telecom to enable 4G access and phone access. Currently, it looks to be used on 7.1.1 (NOF27B, Mar 2017) release of XL, thus the wipe and downgrade from 8.1.0 (OPM1.171019.011, Dec 2017). Once I updated to 8.1.0, I lost access to all data. Switching with *#*#4636#*#* did not restore 2G or 3G, however phone access and SMS was still working.
Once I run it through the paces and the translation to try. I will post an update. If anyone knows a better soultion using 8.1.0, I would love to hear it!

Cellular & other radio in offline/plane mode

Hi
so i am quite curious what happens if you put an Android phone (in this case a S21 Ultra Exynos) in offline/airplane mode with only wifi enabled and no sim card.
I am quite privacy concerned and normaly use a pixel 4 with graphen, but since a few months i need a phone with more power and better cameras so after quite a bit back and forth
i bought the s21 ultra as second phone.
Since graphene, linage etc dont support it (and likely never will) i am stuck with samsungs android which i have 0 trust in terms of privacy & also the amount of bloat/junk on first boot gave me nearly a heart attack...... (Pls dont just comment "why did you buy it then" etc I havent found any better solutions....)
Long story short i ended up removing basically anything with adb, didnt put a sim card in it and it doesnt have internet access at all.
The actual question: Does the phone connect to any outside service like a cellular tower in this state?, i am currious bc there is still the "emergency call" button and it seems to work....
Ps: the full setup is bascially
The only things activated is gps for images and wifi, the phone is connected to a mobile lte router running OpenVPN client to my homenetwork (openvpn running on the router that the phone isnt able to bypass it), it is tunneled in a seperate vlan in my homenetwork with only access to the local NAS and everything to the outside blocked via the OpnSense Firewall

Question Family link [TB-J617F]

Hi all,
I've been trying to get family link working as my daughter uses this tablet. When trying to add her account the setup gets stuck in an endless loop never competing. Having read various threads from other devices, I think it's probably something to do with play services not having certain permissions. I would consider unlocking, installing twrp, magisk etc if required to fix, but I don't want to loose widevine.
The long and short is I can't use her account on the device at all as she's part of the family group - her account won't work at all without family link.
I wondered if anyone here had either tried this, or come across other odd behaviours relating to play services?
I'm running the Chinese ROM ziu 13.
Appreciate any thoughts.
Cheers Matt
Few things I have tried (and eventually got it to work) across 2x Lenovo P11 Plus (J616F)'s:
1st one was a factory reset and then instead of using my home WiFi, setup the device using a 4G hotspot from my phone. (Not a clue why, but my Home Wifi (Unifi Access Points) takes upwards of 2 minutes to get internet with the Lenovo's, even though all other devices are fine).
Second method:
factory reset and setup the device as "Offline" (i.e. dont input any WiFi details, button down bottom right saying "Setup as Offline")
Once gone through initial steps, connect to your WiFi, give it 10 minutes to update a few bits.
Open Play Store (DO NOT SIGN IN!), and press the three dots at the top right and goto updates
Let the device update all apps
When complete, try adding the childs Google Account (again, if this fails, try using a 4G hotspot from another device (disabling Wifi on that device first))
Hope that helps
Ok, that sounds pretty strange but I might give it a go. I just set her up a new Google account as nothing I could do could get the old one logged in. Thanks for your advice.
I suspect your unifi is running a shared ssid and your 5ghz is on an inaccessible band, are you always connecting at 2.4ghz? I had to change the 5g band on mine to even see it!

Only have my 5Ghz on normal bands (i.e. non DFS), even tried a separate 2.4Ghz Guest network, disabled WPA3, all to no avail. Not got a clue what caused it, my ISP doesn't block anything either (Zen UK)
Any other device was fine over WiFi (have setup much older Samsung tablets, newer kids phones) all with Family Link, it was just the Lenovo's that was stuck in a loop saying I needed to remove and re-add the account.
Just couldn't figure it out, and had already spent a few hours trying. Hoped the newest firmware would fix, but that didn't help either.
Hope it helps and good luck
Just playing around on the tablet and it appears that it struggles with IPv6 - could be that my hotspot is IPv4 only. Could be related to the loop it gets stuck in?
Not sure why it doesn't like IPv6 though as all other devices are fine with it...
I've just gone through full reset, then tried using 4g hotspot as you suggested. I have to use Lenovo app centre to get play store, then use play store with no login to update. That all works fine. Then add my daughters account. Then I get stuck in the same loop of not being able to register the device with family link.
In my case, I don't think this relates to internet access, I think there's something going wrong with the software / permissions on the device. It's genuinely very frustrating as I imagine it's probably not terribly difficult for the Lenovo Devs to fix.

Question problem xiaomi 12 with telegram

I have a Xiaomi 12 phone. I have to use VPN to connect to Telegram. Unfortunately, it has been a few weeks that if Telegram is not used, it goes into connecting mode after 10 seconds and it takes two or three seconds to connect. I tested the same VPN on several other phones such as S22 or Ka50 Gaming or Note 9 Pro and they connect extremely fast and without the slightest wait. Internet is the same for all phones.
I tested the settings related to battery consumption and other things that could have an effect, but none of them helped. I also reset the phone's network settings. I even did a factory reset, but the problem still exists. Thank you if you have a solution. By the way, I use Shadowsocks.
Did you try using a proxy to fix the issue?
Public MTPROTO proxies for Telegram – MTPro.XYZ
MTPro.XYZ update the mtproto proxy list every 5 minutes to keep them fresh. Here you will find free public proxies for working with Telegram.

I've been having similar issues with Telegram on my Xiaomi 12, but for now, it seems I've fixed them by using a proxy.
