Question Does esim work in the US models ? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

I was considering buying the Fold Z 3 until i read below links dual and esim are not available in US. Wondering might I be able to use the watch 4 as a possible work around would I be able to have the watch set to one number and then automatically forward calls and txts to the fold so I wouldn't have to carry around 2 phones ?
Does that sound like a reliable work around ?
Galaxy Z Fold 3 has two physical SIM slots and an eSIM (but not in the US)

Not a Samsung expert here, but for my OnePlus device I had to buy an aftermarket sim tray then I got dual sim working. Maybe it will work that way for Samsung?

It must be a us thing, as my wife's z flip 3 has a nano sim on one number and an esim for work number, and both work just fine. As for watch on another number, it does technically get its own number, but its usually linked to a phones actual number, so it will get the calls and sms from the linked number appear on it. Or at least that's how it is in the UK here.

I have Verizon I cannot find any info about eSIM on watches.
If anyone got one early from Amazon or Best Buy:

AT&T started using e-sim since the original Samsung Galaxy Watch. I had LTE versions of both Watch and Watch 3. AT&T uses a feature called Number Sync, which enable the network to start by calling your cellular number then if no answer, the network would follow the call to your watch number. Keep in mind that this is pertaining to e-sim on LTE enabled watches and not cellphone.

My TMobile Digits works fine with the Galaxy Watch 4 esim... as it did with my prior Active 2 & Galaxy Watch.

Its not whether the phone supports its, your local network provider must also support the feature.

Works fine for me. I use TMobile, with SIM card on my Oneplus & esim in Watch4. Works fine through Digits. Though esim has a number associated with it but I have the choice to use that number or the one on my Oneplus.

Galaxy S7 Duos [SM-G930FD] Not matching caller ID to contact name

I recently switched from a regular international Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) to the Dual SIM model (SM-G930FD) and noticed an issue.
In my country (Malta - EU) we have three major mobile providers, one of these sends the caller number as 99###### whereas the others send it in full country code format +356 79######. I have all my contacts saved in international format for convenience sake during travel. Since getting the dual sim model, if my phone receives a call with the short 8-digit number, it's not matching the contact to the full country code. This did not happen with the regular international model.
Is there any way to correct this short of adding both formats to every contact?

In my opinion it is not a problem of devices but software. Have you checked the ROM version of the dualsim handset?
Dualsims are not sold in Europe,so if you use stock version it is probable that it will not work.
Install the same ROM that you have on the single sim and try whether it works.

Switching from Samsung Gear S3 to LG Wear Urbane 2 (T-Mobile)

I just bought the Samsung Gear S3, apparently didn't do my research, and failed to realize there's no Android Wear 2.0 support. As an Android app developer, I can't easily port my apps to the Tizen OS and thus have no choice but to return my Samsung Gear S3 for a device that supports Android Wear 2.0.
I've been looking around T-Mobile's website and wasn't very satisfied with their lineup of Android watches. I took a look at LG's watches, which would go well with my LG V20 on T-Mobile, yet saw they only have variants for AT&T & Verizon.
Has anyone here been able to successfully get an LG Urbane 2 working on T-Mobile's 4G LTE network? Is there an unlocked version that would most likely support enough bands on the T-Mobile network?

I use the att version on the T-Mobile network with no problem. Customer support even got all the forwarding for my number set up for the watch as well.
I put a T-Mobile SIM and it worked , got a signal and showed LTE at times but I got LTE more often using an ATT SIM so I used a Truphone SIM which is ATT MVNO in to use for the times I want cellular.
So yes, works, but be aware fewer LTE bands and it drops signal more often than a phone so more for email notification etc when away from phone.
+1 to post 2 and 3. The Urbane 2nd edition LTW W200A comes unlocked. As soon as you insert the simcard you can use it as an independent phone to browse, watch videos, hear music, and many more things.

I am planning to buy a Samsung gear s2 classic which seemed to be locked to t-mobile network and use it outside the US.. in the middle east.
What would happen if i used it outside the US . will there be missed features or limited use .. can I spare it to my phone..
what will be your advice shall I purchase ot or not

If it's a esim model it will only work on T-Mobile. You can use the watch on bluetooth and works nearly the same. But never no service. I use a AT&T and Verizon watch bluetooth only.

Where I live we have no 3g networks. We are still on the GSM network so it's not an issue I think

Question eSim on Google Fi in the US?

I have been reading that the US versions of the Z Flip 3 do not have eSim support. However Google Fi uses eSim on all of their other phones so I am wondering if they are getting their phones with that enabled.
I currently use my eSim and a physical sim card in my Pixel 3XL so this matters to me. They are not active at the same time but I can easily switch between them. I had assumed I could still do the same since all of the specs I found online listed an eSim. If anyone knows if this will be the case I would love to know. Otherwise I might need to cancel my pre-order.

If you want esim capabilities in US then avoid Samsung phones. Only Apple and Google phones have esim capabilities supported by US carriers. Only exception to this, is Note 20 Ultra from Tmobile.
I discovered that there are 2 IMEI numbers on the Flip 3 box. There were IMEI1 and IMEI2. This leaves me to believe the US version of the Flip 3 is physically identical to the International version. The difference is probably software.
I contacted Samsung’s costumer support and inquired about the eSIM on Flip 3. Customer Support said this is not a feature that US version is provisioned for. Not willing to give up, I pointed out that the box lists 2 IMEI numbers. I asked if this is something that could be fixed with a software. The customer support said Samsung would be sending out an update to fix this when ready. I am not sure if I was given an answer just to get rid of me. Since the international version has eSIM function so, this is not a technical issue.
The S20 also had 2 IMEIs on the box. Doesn't mean **** if they don't activate it.
Also, my Flip3 box only has 1 IMEI.

My Flip 3 is from Google Fi and it was made in Vietnam.

The US models of the Galaxy S21 line still have eSIM disabled.
Unfortunately, it looks like Samsung has followed this plan again with the US unlocked models of its new Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 phones. For now, at least, you'll be connecting these phones to one subscription at a time.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Samsung to enable something they intentionally disabled.
No way I'd ever buy an $1800 phone with with dual and eSim disabled.
At this point I'm waiting for the Pixel 6 or Fold.

The article is saying it takes forever, if at all. It includes the Fold. It also implies that the carrier plays a role in whether or not it gets enabled.
That aside, I'm not actually looking for it. I just like to be informed.
Since I did not get any help from Samsung other than Samsung would be sending out an update to enable eSIM at a later date. I sent out an inquiry to Google Fi and request help. Following was the answer I got back:-
“Thanks for contacting Google Fi support. We totally understand that you want to use two phone numbers with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
However, You can activate Fi services using the physical Fi SIM and can use the number of different carrier using E-SIM on the same device. Please make sure that you activate Fi services using physical SIM on Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and activate the other number using E-SIM from different carrier.
If you face any trouble, Please reply us back on the same email.
We are here 24/7 if anything else comes up.”
Obviously, this is a bogus answer as there is no SIM card manager in the settings to enable me to add any eSIM regardless if it is Google Fi or from another carrier.
So, I emailed back and detailed the issue. I got another bogus answer. Below what was sent to me:-
“Thanks for contacting Google Fi support. I've checked it with my expert and you should be able to use E-SIM on Samsung Flip 3 with different carrier. If you're facing any trouble with activating services on E-SIM of different carrier. I would request you to get in touch with them and see what issue they are facing.
We are here 24/7 if anything else comes up.”
At this point, I am giving up. I need to use this Flip 3 for 30 days on Google Fi to get my $400.00 cell service credit. Due to COVID, I have not been travelling and have no plans until this is over. I do like the form factor of the Flip 3 but without eSIM is no for me. So, I am keeping this phone for the time being. I’ll pass this Flip 3 to my family member and get another phone with eSIM function. I will probably pick up either the Pixel 6 or the iPhone 13 that are going to be released.

Yes, this was an option but I traded in my Pixel 4XL already. My Pixel 4XL was quite good. I did not have any battery issue. The only thing was that it got really hot when I used Google Maps for navigation. Sometimes, it would even shut down on a hot day in the car while using navigation. Mine was in excellent shape and I got $350.00 back for trade in. Not too bad as I got that for half price during a Black Friday sale. I got $150.00 Samsung credit for getting this phone. This Flip 3 is actually cheap. Adding all the credits and refund on my Pixel 4XL. It only cost me slightly over $200.00 (including tax).
This is ridiculous I just found out that the newly released iPhone 13 would have Dual eSIM support for all markets, and Samsung would not provide eSIM support for the US market.

It works with foreign SIMs but on Google Fi or T-Mobile it is not as good. I was dropping calls and calls sometimes go directly to my voice mail.
Since I am not travelling any time soon until the pandemic is over, I have time to wait for the new Pixel 6 series phones. Maybe, I’ll give the new iPhone 13 a try. As much as I like the Flip 3 for its form factor, I am going to get rid of it (most likely pass it to a family member). I will probably never go back to Samsung again until I see eSIM function on their phones.

Question Getting a Verizon data plan for the Galaxy Watch 4 with OnePlus 9 Pro Phone

I just got the Galaxy watch yesterday and trying to set up a data plan for it through Verizon. Does anyone have an idea if that's possible with the OnePlus 9 pro phone? Verizon tech support said it's not possible, but I have a feeling that it can be done. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me.
If it is LTE and is compatible with Verizon's network, then yes. It would be a separate data only line on your account. You need to talk to Verizon's sales support not tech support.
I haven't checked. Still im 99% sure Verizon offers esim. What company DOESNT offer esim in 2022?

Verizon does not offer a stand alone plan for the GW4. They did for the Active 1 and Active 2.
With the GW4 they only support "number share". To use number share you must have a Verizon phone.
Same situation here. Have a GW4 and a OnePlus 9 Pro and cannot use the LTE in the watch.
There is no technical reason why the GW4 won't do standalone. There is also no reason why a OnePlus 9 Pro can't do number share.
The decision were made by bean counters.

Are you a Verizon customer? I am. You have to add a line, it is a data only line. I know this because I just checked with Verizon.
If the OP's watch is compatible with Verizon's LTE, all he needs to do is add a line to his account for the watch. He has to talk a sales rep, not a tech support rep.

I have been a Verizon customer since it was called GTEMobilnet (look it up).
You are right all you do is add a line and specify that line for "number share". They will not allow a standalone plan for a Galaxy Watch 4.
Number share does not work for a OnePlus 9 Pro. I have been down this road with Verizon multiple times when the watch was released. I have the exact problem that OP has.
It is not solvable unless Verizon changes it's policy for the Galaxy Watch.
Repeat after me; "It is not possible right now and may never be."
You can also look at reddit and see how frustrating it is to others.
