How to unlock the bootloader on the A42 5G? - Samsung Galaxy A42 5G Questions & Answers

Alright I've managed to get the A42 5G into developer mode, and debug enabled. But the bootloader isn't unlockable within developer mode options.
How to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks!

OK appears that unlocking the bootloader on US versions of the Galaxy A42 are not available. (at least) Verizon doesn't provide the "unlock" command to the "oem" command, ie;
sudo fastboot oem unlock
The Volume+- and side key combination will only go as far as "download" mode. Using the Volume+ that should take you to the bootlock confirmation, does not (nothing happens).
So at this point, until, or unless someone comes up with some way to overcome these limitations. Those of us with the Samsung A42's will either need to trip KNOX brute forcing an image on the phone. Or live with a stock Galaxy A42. :-(

1. All North American Samsung models have been bootloader locked (and do not have the OEM unlock option) for years now.
2. You can't brute force a custom recovery or custom anything else with a locked bootloader
If you want an unlockable and rootable phone, don't buy a North American model - simple as that.

If someone WAS able to unlock the bootloader, who would be building the roms?
Anyone? A lot of the Exynos ROM's are peoples own projects or unofficial ports of known ROMs, don't know why it'd be any different for the 930U
So did Samsung put the OEM unlock button in Developer Options as a joke? I have a G930T and the switch does nothing but flip back and forth. If i was at Samsung I'd find it hilarious I have to admit

I think oem unlock is suppose to allow your device to not lock to a specific sim card when you insert one
OEM unlock unlocks the bootloader, but only for Exynos chipsets. There is no user accessible way of unlocking a phone from its carrier beyond calling the carrier.
It's present in the snapdragon US models, but does nothing. But that's the fault of US carriers strong arming Samsung into not letting US models be bootloader unlocked.
Is there a way to speak to Samsung officials for them to allow us to unlock bootloader?

Do you think, since a lot has changed then, that there is a version of C.F. Auto root exists for the Binary 10 version of the SM-G930U? went to flash the version for my device from the website and I got the SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery error, same as if you were installing the wrong firmware for your device... Not quite sure what to do here xD

Samsung Galaxy A01 | Can it have its bootloader unlocked?

The model is SM-A015M. It has a Snapdragon processor.
This is a question I tried to solve myself, but I don't know if it's impossible or I'm just dumb and don't know how to do it.
I've followed a lot of guides, a lot of them telling me to do the same:
"Go to Developer Options and enable OEM Unlock, then boot your phone in Download Mode and hold the Volume Up key to unlock the bootloader. Think you did it? No, because Samsung has the Secure boot thingy. So you skip all the setup steps, but remember to connect to a network. After that, enable Developer Options and you should see the OEM Unlock option grayed out."
Click to collapse
And that last part is what ruins everything, OEM Unlock is enabled, but it's not grayed out. Furthermore, I cannot check if the bootloader is unlocked or not via fastboot since I've seen that Samsung doesn't support it. Although, I've used
adb reboot bootloader
which takes me to another screen that obviously says
device state: LOCKED
And I've tried to flash Magisk before with Odin (I don't understand Heimdal fully, to be honest), of course it ended in a failure. I've seen that having a Snapdragon processor makes the bootloader impossible or just very hard (And I'm hoping it's just very hard, 'cause as I'm writing this, it's obviously impossible).
I wonder... If I can't unlock the OEM, why does the developer options give me the choice to unlock or lock it if it doesn't change a thing in the end?

sanmsung mobile phones with a that use a snapdragon in north america and south america, and europe that cannot be unlocked
the ones usually sold in asia are the ones you can unlock
and don't even waste more time, samsung took extra steps just so that their mobile does not get unlock and rooted, at least on the snapdragon version
you trip the knox, and prolly will brick your mobile, or at least lose functionality

every Samsung phone that has a snapdragon has a Qualcomm chip as Qualcomm the company makes snapdragon the product.
it's simply not true to say all snapdragon Samsungs can't be unlocked. I'm trying on an unlocked phone now.
it's snapdragons sold in North America and maybe South America (not sure on that last bit) that can't be unlocked.

Question Is the SM-A125U different?

Is my A12 (a125u) different and unable to be bl unlocked/rooted, etc? It has OEM unlock in dev options....?
Did you figure this out? Looking to do the same... Also can't find a firmware for it, please share what you did if you had success. Thanks!

Yes, the A125U has OEM UNLOCK in the developer options......you can turn that ON by going into : settings > about phone > software information ...and then tap BUILD NUMBER several times until you see that you have enabled "developer options". Then you go into developer options and turn on OEM UNLOCKING.
Before updating firmware recently OEM UNLOCKING was greyed out. But now I can switch it on. Now the question is, can this variant be properly bootloader unlocked and rooted. The known repository for downloadable firmwares for Samsung phones DOES NOT seem to have this variant firmware for download. And I wonder if that is required for this to be properly rooted.
Galaxy firmware has the firmware for this variant. I have the att version and I can't seem to unlock the bootloader. Holding volume up in the download screen does nothing. Any luck?
Bump, I have all same questions.... Anyone figure anything out?
Before I had tmo Sim unlock my phone the I set the oen unlock to unlock now its not there at all
Anybody rooted this yet ?
anyone know the interchangeability of the firmware between the a125u and other versions

I have a similar issue but vice versa. I bought a US version (SM-A125U1) only to find out months after that the dual sim option is locked and i think the only way to unlock it is changing the firmware. Now I need help to know what I can do to, please.

there are paid for services run by people, some of them use this site, where your phones bootloader can be unlocked either remotely or via a one use only token and instructions. not sure about A32 but on Galaxy S series phones it costs about 75 dollars US. search here you should find something, a link to a Telegram group probably.

How are they able to bypass Samsung's lock? I don't think paying is worth it to get unlocked, esp over the internet where it could be a scam.

you can join a telegram group full of people either waiting for or already had their bootloaders unlocked. it is quite pricey but it's not a scam (based on the people I've seen doing it) a moderator here used to do it and people have posted about being happy with the service they got.
if it not via that route there currently isn't any other way to unlock bootloaders for US Samsung phones
Be aware when you update ROM after that.
Later version ROM can lock bootloader again and current token may not unlock again

Yes. I've used these instructions https://www.naldotech.com/root-samsung-galaxy-a32-magisk/
I've used boot.img to patch, and then flashed with odin, worked as a charm.
Turn on Odin mode - by shutdding down your phone, then holding Volume Up + Down, then long hold Volume Up to unlock bootloader, You might need to reboot afterwards, also factory reset is(will be) a must.
Just shut down after that, redo holding Volume Up + Down, then long hold Volume Up, I cannot remember exactly, but I think after that it was once pressing Volume Down to have proper odin download mode to use patched image.
Select patched magisk image patched from/by boot/recovery.img.lz4 archive.

Please feel free to verify images taken after root been aquired. (magisk image was patched on unrooted os at the time)

Question How to unlock bootloader?

I just received my Flip3 (SM-F711U1) and would like to unlock my bootloader. However developer options is missing the OEM Unlock option. It's completely missing not just grayed out. I read a few articles about needed to change the system date but none of those guides changed anything. Can someone help?
Also, I attempted to call *#*#7378423*#*# to double checked that it wasn't already unlocked and I got a popup saying "Unabled to process the request."

You can try directly unlock without ticking the oem unlock. By boot into download mode. The other thing is your device or carrier or country wont allow your flip 3 to be unlock. There last step you can try is clean flash via odin with your latest firmware.

They used to, so there was always a possibility it returned.
I recently read this article on XDA about unlocking the boot loader on the Fold 3 which results in Samsung disabling the camera (WTH?), Is this a thing on the Flip3 too?
My device is rooted. I have always been able to find the OEM unlock option under developer options without any constraints.
My camera is NOT affected. I can still use it without any issues.
I have an European device (SM-F711B).
Hope this helps some of you to track down whether this is a location or carrier based problem.
