Google Pixel 4a media volume too low. - Google Pixel 4a Guides, News, & Discussion

I have googled "pixel 4a media volume too low" all I find is how to find the volume toggle. Is there a hack or anything to make it louder?
TIA

You could try an app like "Viper", which offers many options.

twrp for Android 11 - Pixel 4a

I'm trying to install twrp on the way to installing Magisk Manager but I don't see the Pixel 4a on the device list here:
Google
This is the Team Win website and the official home of TWRP! Here you will find the list of officially supported devices and instructions for installing TWRP on those devices.
twrp.me
Now it looks like there is a custom version of twrp for most of the phone models out there but I'm not really sure that's the case. Perhaps there is only one "lastest version" of twrp for all phones or individual operating systems. Anyway is there a version of twrp for my Pixel 4a running Android 11?
If not is there another custom recovery that anyone would recommend?
Thank you!
I'm also looking for one

You don't need TWRP in order to install Magisk Manager / Magisk framework:

As I understand it they're two separate things magisk is a framework and magisk manager is an application that uses that framework. I rooted with magisk no problem but I can't unlock my financial apps without magisk master and a module I believe.

Root Android 12 with magisk?

Has anyone updated to Android 12 and successfully rooted again with magisk? It seems from the Pixel 5 thread that there are problems with this..
I have removed root and restored stock boot + updated to Android 12. Have downloaded the factory image and am ready to patch + flash magisk patched boot, but I am reluctant to try after reading the Pixel 5 thread.
Sure, I've done it already.
Check here.
Worked for me too.
I'm starting to think that the 4a 5G and 5 (and presumably all newer models) have this restriction. Not sure why the 4a does not.

I have a Pixel 5 running official Android 12. I upgraded from a magisk rooted Android 11. When I flash the patched boot image in fastboot mode, restarting the device only takes me back to fastboot mode. The only way I can get past fastboot mode into Android 12 is to reflash the stock boot image.
Do I need to disable dmverity, etc.?

I haven't been flowing this thread since it doesn't apply to me but the last thing I saw seemed to suggest upgrading and then trying to figure it out didn't work. Check it out, maybe they got further.

Question Android 14 developer preview 1

So, has anyone tried the Android 14 developer preview 1? I have and it runs very well on our phone. Would love to hear your impressions.
I tried it briefly on my Pixel 5. Since Magisk does not appear to fully support 14 yet (Zygisk does not work), I ended up going back to TQ1A and am running the developer preview on an Android Virtual Device instead.
Tried it out just now, magisk doesn't detect root at all of a patched boot image, so its a no go as far as a daily use device for me at the moment

You have to use the Pixel 7 boot image to patch and flash, like we did for some of the QPR2 Betas.

I do not need a rooted devices, so I just used the Developer Preview to check out the new Android 14 release before it is officially released on my Bluejay.

Have you tried Canary 25206? Magisk reports "Zygisk: Yes" (with Zygisk enabled in settings) for me on my Pixel 6 Pro running A14 DP1.

If I can figure out how to get Magisk running on an AVD, I'll try that. Tried patching the ramdisk image, that didn't work.

Question Android 14 Dev Beta 2+ and rooting using Magisk ?

I tried Pixel 6a & 7 boot.img from Android 14 Dev Beta 2 and tried to patch with latest Magisk. However after flashing the patched boot.img from fastboot, phone is still in stock unrooted state.
Anyone has a compatible rooted boot image for Pixel 6a?

Think we'll have to wait...
Has anyone tried with the new Magisk 26.0 yet? I just installed the 14 preview, so I'll give it a shot and report back, if not.
Edit: Sucessfully rooted with the 6a boot image from the latest dev preview and Magisk 26001.
Are you patching the init_boot.img or the just the boot.img

The Pixel 6a (or any of the PIxel 6 series devices) doesn't have an init_boot.img.
Oh so I guess for the 7 it should really be the init_boot.img
I tried with the new 14 public beta patching the init boot with Magisk 26 and it's still not rooted.
I wonder if I patch the boot.img instead for the 7, will it brick my phone?

That's because the Pixel 6 series doesn't have an init_boot.img. You are patching an image that your phone doesn't have.
Patching the Pixel 6a boot.img with Stable 26.1 or Canary 26101 should work. It did for me on my Pixel 6 Pro running A14 Beta 1.

yeah unfortunately, so far this the only thread that talks about rooting a pixel on android 14, nothing on the pixel 7 forum yet. Well it was worth the shot. Thanks.

Awesome, was able to root 14 Public Beta on my Pixel 7 using Canary Magisk 26101, Lets see if I can enable 5G now. Thanks man.
Hi, I tried to root pixel 6a and got a hard brick. I can't get into fastboot and I can't power on the device. The screen is black and the pc does not detect it. What I can do?
Has anyone tested the Magisk Beta or Canary channels with the latest Android 14 Beta 2 released on I/O?

The latest Canary (26101), Beta (26100), and Stable (26100) versions should all be the same at the moment as a new Canary has not been released since the release of 26.1. Canary 26101 is working fine on A14 Beta 2 on my Pixel 6 Pro.

Perfect, I'll give that a shot now then.
Well, I ****ed up.
I forgot that I was on the 14 Beta.
I pushed the boot.img from the latest, stable Android 13 build to be patched by Magisk Manager. Then I rebooted and flashed that. Of course it didn't work, so I re-flashed the original boot.img from the Android 13 build. That of course didn't work either, so I flashed the entire Android 13 package back over, excluding the bootloader and radio images and without wiping the device.
Now it's not doing anything. It doesn't continually boot loop, it doesn't react to a charger (any of the 5 chargers I have, including wireless) and doesn't react to any power combination. I think it's hard bricked.
Is there any hope at all? This is the first time I've ever hard bricked a phone
I have a protection plan on it with T-Mobile, do you think I can get away with using that? The device is fully paid off.

I was able to root it with this fastboot boot command and the magisk image

Question OTA wiped root. How to regain?

Hi folks, I am running a Pixel 6A that I rooted with magisk back in December. I stupidly did not disable OTA updates. Last night the QPR2 update came down and wiped root from my phone.
Bootloader is still unlocked and magisk app is installed.
I am confused about the best way to restore root. I see that the QPR2 beta required the use of the pixel 7 boot image. Does that still hold for the stable QPR2?
Also, the magisk app offers a way to choose and patch an image within the app. Can I get the pixel 7 boot image and patch it in magisk, or do I have to use the ADB/ fastboot method?
Sorry for the trouble. I promise I will disable OTA updates in the future. Thanks for any help.
Hello! I am also root user and if it is true that there was an update with the boot 6a not root and I had to use the pixel 7 or 7 pro (I do not remember which was) but if in doubt I would try only with the 6a just in case, the procedure is to download the full rom of the same version you have now, extract the boot.img, patch it with magisk and flash it by adb from the pc, is the method I use in each update and no problems until today, good luck and greetings!
If you are using Magisk Stable 26.1 or Canary 26101, you can use the Pixel 6a boot image to root as the problems mentioned above have been fixed with these versions of Magisk.
Problem solved. Y'all rock.
I'm having a similar problem. I'm am unable to find the boot.img anywhere in the zip file I'm on Bluejay TQ2A 230305.008E1.
