Hello A71 users,
My name is Kelly Bellis and this is my first post. Greetings from Ellsworth, Maine! I'm not writing code, but I do wade into what app developers wrangle with day-to-day as a technical illustrator, writer, user and tester.
About 8 months ago, a number of forum participants and early users of the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G reported no longer being able to utilize L5/E5a after a particular firmware update. Has anybody here ever discovered why the OEM turned off support for L5/E5a?
Has anybody discovered a way to turn L5/E5a back on? If so, were you able to discover any issues pointing to reason(s) why it was turned off in the first place; e.g., too much noise? Did it have anything to do with 1227.6 MHz being used instead of 1176.45 MHz?
Qualcomm boasts that their Snapdragon 765 is dual frequency, but when I contacted them asking why the SM-A716U was not dual frequency, they blew me off saying to contact the manufacturer, Samsung.

Almost immediately I started receiving nonsensical gibberish in private messaging spam before turning off my email notifications for private messaging.
I also prepared the attached illustration [Samsung Galaxy A71U6 PhaseCenterOffset and SensorEvent Origin.pdf] in case it might be helpful to any developers. On the second page of the PDF is the data from the example [gnss_log_antenna_info_2021_04_03_17_57_52.txt]
Tangentially, I've tried getting Google's developers (GnssLogger and GnssAnalysis) to help ferret things out as it applies in general to the smartphone's internal GNSS antennas: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/188695837
Thank you for any reply.
Kind regards,
Kelly

Seems Samsung still hasn't solved the GPS woes on many of its Galaxy S models to the satisfaction of every user -- complaints of inordinately long (or impossible) lock times continue to trickle into our inbox to this very day. To that end, folks might be interested in the news that Samsung Mobile is tweeting about a "GPS Restore Application" that it's thrown together for wiping the GPS subsystem and making it factory-fresh. Now, we'll be the first to admit -- we don't quite understand how "restoring" a screwed-up GPS to its original screwed-up state is doing any good, but we'll leave it to Sammy's confusing verbiage:
"During online surveillance, there is an abundance of GPS tweaks that impair GPS performance. Often times, no backup is performed to restore values prior to modifications. Samsung has released an application that restores GPS settings to recommended factory defaults for optinum [sic] performance."
Right, then. It's only compatible with the Captivate and Vibrant at the moment -- no word on others like the Epic 4G, Mesmerize, or Fascinate, but folks on AT&T and T-Mobile should be able to nab it from the Market.
Weird..why would anyone want to restore settings when the original settings, especially the spirent agps server, is broke?
and we already have a 3 page discussion going on this same topic - samsung releases gps fix in market.....
this is why everyone is encouraged to search before posting - at least look on the first page of a forum.....

Hello, i've created a Concept from my newly formed company called edgeware. It's a phone offers a month battery life with an E-ink Display. You're able to do everything that you're smartphone can do. With enough help and support, we could get this device to market and show the world that E-ink is the best way to go for optimizing our battery life. With support to create an vast ECO system and an amazing app selection such as the favourites. Facebook, twitter, Gmail and many other services that we just can't live without on our smartphones. Whilst we are waiting for those apps to be made, me and the rest of the team at edgeware have created the best operating sytem and the best webkit, running with Javascript, HTML5, flash and many more. This is utterly the best webkit that anybody has made for any platform.

Fancy on Android phone with keyboard?

Good afternoon, community!
Some time ago I started to think about mobile devices with full keyboards - but all what I found were tablets like 2 in 1 and they still didn’t looked good enough. I remembered my Nokias 9 series with beautiful S80 on board, what I have used to write course assignment at Uni, to write job applications, etc. By the same time I’ve been working in retail and used to sell this kind of devices - as well as legends like Qtec 9000. People loved it. So, I’ve decided to move forward!
I have created a concept of smartphone in notebook form-factor:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3d model can viewed here https://skfb.ly/RHDK
Inspired by Psion 5 series, so it would have a proper QWERTY, and as Nokia 9 series, it would have 2 screens - inside and outside.
According to concept, it should work on modified version of android with access to linux apps, with factory root access and open boot loader for community ROMs.
I have contacted some ODM factories to get estimation for production, and got some advice on cost reduction, to edit concept - for available mainboard and screens - FHD, because its too expensive to produce specific ones.
So, if there is anyone who is interested in such product - you are very welcome leave your suggestions, ideas and comments!
There is a massive work still to be done before I would go for crowdfunding, so any help would be appreciated!
What type of keyboard would prefferable, laptop type, when screen is on the lid, or sliding out? Or anything else?

Claiming the complimentary VR content

Has anybody successfully done this yet? I received and installed my Gear VR, but the instructions on the scratch off card don't seem to be relevant. I did exchange my S8+ on release day (due to a fairly Red screen) and Samsung has my updated IMEI registered but I'm not sure if they have that and my new WiFi MAC address for promotion purposes.
Two days of calls to support are just a waste of time; I just get transferred endlessly between departments. I can't even find out what the free titles are to see if it's worth chasing down.
If anyone could provide a step by step, that'd be great!

I did with no problem. First get vr and phone set up. Launch oculus app and hit the more button. Then go to redeem code and type in the code. Then you cam choose 1of 2 bundles, entertainment or gaming. I accidentally choose entertainment and not gaming. It does show what's in each bundle

That did it....searched all over for the app named "Oculus" and couldn't find it. Finally got that sorted and then it was smooth sailing.

Unlocking LTE Bands 4 and 17 on M2 aqua D2403?

Yes, the title sums up what I'm curious about.
Turns out I got an Xperia M2 Aqua with a broken display as a hand-me-down from a friend. I fixed it and it's working great! (check the pics if you'd like).
Spoiler: Pictures of the process

It's alive!
It works and looks great!
... except for the lack of proper LTE bands for my carrier, specifically bands 4 and 17. So yeah, it's currently stuck on 3G/HSPA, which is fine for chatting and checking email, but can be a bother for more intensive tasks.
I know there's another model of the M2 aqua which properly supports such bands: the D2406. Would cross-flashing the modem/baseband from that model do anything?
I actually thought about doing a motherboard swap but I would have to dumpster-dive the local phone repair market to get a motherboard from that specific model (or buy one online), and I can no longer justify the cost, time and effort haha.
I remember reading some LTE band unlocking tutorials for qcomm phones which used the USB diagnostics mode and QXDM or QPST for altering raw values. It seems very risky, that's why I'd rather ask if someone here has had a positive experience in this area, and if so, I'd ask for guidance or advice on the matter.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
