Vivo Y70 Bootloader/TWRP/Custom ROM ? - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone !
I just got a Vivo Y70 and I wanted to try to install other OS on it.
But I don't seem to find anything for this model.
Isn't there really not much thing for this device ?
Thanks in advance.

unfortunaltey this is the phone no one wants to develop for
not even a single custom rom found although i found it a good mid ranger budget phone with quite good camera and processing ability .

If only there was a bootstrap to begin with, I have this phone and I'm sick of all that boilerplate iManager and app killer...
As a dev guy, I will be happy to at least provide some tips and improve my life and your if you find the firsts steps of how to root a phone (some endpoint to enter the bootloader code, and root safely a phone)

I am also waiting if someone can figure out the steps to go back to android 10 for Y70 phone it was working pretty fast but as i updated to android 11 its almost dead slow now .. and guess what there is no option to revert back to stock android 10 firmware as well.

Well I have just received an OTA official security update (March 2023), so the device is still supported by the manufaturer: I do not see yet an urgent need for a custom ROM. I'll be waiting at the door when the phone will start aging more.

P8Max DAV-703L rollback to Android 5

Hello,
I recently "upgraded" to Android 6 and I hate it. Not only do I not like it but my phone is very unstable and reboots and random intervals. Battery drain is also insane, lasting only 1 day.
Please let me know how to rollback to previous Android version. I am willing to donate for an answer that works.
Thanks!

1: make sure you have stock recoveries in place (both "recovery" & "recovery2" partitions)
2: have the stock b029 full rom (links available @xda or needrom.com) in the following folder on your sdcard: dload/UPDATE.APP
Make sure this is the extracted file from the zip, not the zip itself
3: power off your phone, press volume down+up+power until you enter eRecovery mode
Happy flashing
In case your phone doesn't recognize the update package, you can download it directly from your phone:
when rebooting, ensure your phone is plugged in via USB to your PC
No luck, bro. Same as before. Phone checks the file, goes from 1 to 4% and then at 5% (when it says "Installing") it says Update Failed. Reboot now.
Tried with eRecovery also (volume+ and USB cable inserted). It connects to WiFi but can't find any package.
I think the only option is to sell the phone and buy a new one with the factory firmware.
Lol, that's not the only option. Download Huawei firmware extractor, extract boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img, cache.img and userdata.img from the B028 firmware (not b029)(you can skip system.img). Use adb and fastboot to flash those files. After you flashed then repeat the firmware flash procedure with firmware b028 in dload folder and vol- vol+ and Power buttons. Did a rollback several times, worked every time for me.
EDIT:
Also here is a more detailed description:

You need your bootloader unlocked. You can use dc-unlocker to do that. It will cost you 3$ or 3€ and 10 minutes of your time:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code
Still more convenient that reselling the phone.
I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. But I guess there is no cure for stupidity, since every time I "upgraded" my phones ever since the Galaxy Note N7000 got Android 4, they always ****ed it up, every single manufacturer. They're not at fault here, I'm the idiot who never learns his lesson.
So yeah, selling my phone it is since if you unlock the bootloader, you lose the warranty and that will make my phone sell for dirt-cheap, since I cannot use it with Android 6.
Thank you all for your help but it looks like this is the only option.
The first chance I get (someone makes a similar-sized device) I will abandon Huawei. Hardware is great but the software is utterly horrid! No-name chinese phones have much better software support than they have.

Unlocking the bootloader doesn't invalidate the warranty, so you're good to go. I for myself love the P8 max, hardware and software. The B029 works extremely good for me after customizing it a bit to fit my needs. There is no reason for me to update to Android 6 since everything works so flawlessly.
If you want to keep the size and don't go any smaller, one of the acceptable alternatives is the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra, even thou I prefer the design of the P8 max.
Unfortunately, in my retarded country (Romania) I have to call Huawei to get the bootlocker unlock code, which by their terms in this ****ty country, invalidates the warranty. I've been through this nightmare before, with the DAV-701L in which I had to call in UK to get an unlock code, which they even said that I will lose the warranty.
These guys ****ed something up because, here's the kicker : you have to get the unlock code FROM Huawei, which invalidates the warranty. But to invalidate the warranty, you need permission from Huawei. **** logic.
The Zenfone is looking mighty delicious, you know. Thanks for the tip!

I must admit that I'm not overhappy with 6.00.
In exchange of a few new feature I lost root and things aren't so smooth anymore. Gonna roll back as soon as I receive my Xiami Max as a backup phone. Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra will be my next buy, but waiting for a phone so long it's a pain in the ass.. they shouldn't announce models months before they can release them. Like HP Elite X3 (January and just coming to shops) or LeTv X910 (which never saw the light) ?
hi guys,
I apologize for resurrection of this thread but does anyone know the location of the stock b029 full rom file ?
I do remember I was running MM and I want to give my P8 max to my niece but unfortunately it's missing OS.
I could install twrp and I was searching for the file but the links are dead and I think this would be the best place to ask.
Anyway, thanks in advance and sorry for bumping up 2 years old thread.
Peace

Inquiry about OPPO R7plusf update!

Hi guys,
I hope all of you are fine, now after more than one year of usage of OPPO R7Plusf which was really amazing, it seems like OPPO has no plans to upgrade our phones, when I purchased my device a ColorOS version 2.0 was installed already and recently, it was upgraded to ColorOS version 2.1.0i (based on 5.1.1 Android Lollipop). Nowadays, all of us heard about the Nougat upgrade when we still dreaming with Marshmallow!!
So please, any suggestions for a custom ROM (tested) to upgrade my OPPO phone to Nougat version with no usual known errors or bugs. I will be grateful.
Notice: I contacted both customer support (the local one and the international) and I received the usual formal disappointed answer: "we will inform you when the update is available", which I think it will not be.
So thanks
Anybody here!?
Depends what you like
I currently use Resurrection remix on mine however there are some issues with apps force closing is my main one. Lineage OS also had issues for me with bluetooth causing the phone the reboot over and over. CM 13 was the best but I can't find any download links for it any more (rip CM) I think they both have updates coming outside but I recommend trying some out and then making a decision. Also if your phone is on one of the latest oppo updates (one of the 2016 updates) you'll have to downgrade to a 2015 software as they locked the bootloader so you won't be able to root! It's easy to do just find an old firmware from the internet (I would post links but I can't, also has to be a 2015 one) turn off the phone and turn it back on whilst holding down the volume down button and then go install and install the old firmware and then follow any guides on the internet for installing custom ROMs
Hope this helped

Lol, yeah. There is not much traffic here, but the R7Plusf is still awesome and up to date. Mainly due to good people at LineageOS keeping the device fresh.
I don't have serious issues with AICP on Nougat. No reboots. It is build "on top of" LineageOS, but have more features plus a working theming system. Latest build uploaded today.
Try RR, AICP and LineageOS and see what you like. Wait with Lineage untill the next release (current is Feb 14), if you want to avoid reboots.

Sure I will try one of your recommendations, but all I was afraid of was the disappointed bugs after updat such as battery drain, camera errors, wifi issues ... etc. Of course my ColorOS became boring to me, but still stable with no errors
Any pros or cons for those above I will be great full

Battery drain on MM has improved compared to Lollipop and N has improved over MM. With 4 email accounts running (on Aqua Mail) and Location on "High accuracy", Viber messenger and other stuff running, I had not much drain on AICP 11 (MM). Drain during night with Location on "Device" was 0.5% per hour. On MM and especially N, you have many ways in settings you can fine tune battery drain. Many apps are automatically shut down when not in use. You can decide which to limit and which to keep running when phone is off. Without extra apps (as ColorOS has), you can limit what apps are allowed to do and see. All built into the system.
A final word on drain: With Googles and others services running all the time, tracking everything you do, some drain is expected. Luckily this can be turned off by you
The number one reason to upgrade in these hacker friendly times: N is updated with much improved security. Updated every month with the latest security patches.
For me, AICP 11 is error free. The latest MM builds are complete in features and practically error free. Features are still being merged one at the time on N, but is useable as is now with only some minor issues.
I have not tried RR. My guess is that it has more features than AICP, but also more issues.
Lineage is the mother of all, I expect it to be stable with a good set of features.
All the N builds have more or less issues with speaker-phone. It may or may not bother you (or the person in the other end). MM was not affected as much as N, for some unknown reason.
I use Resurrection Rom and very happy with this rom!

Rana, first I'm sure you have been a good phone user and your Oppo R7 plus is upto date, unfortunately this is a problem. So first thing you need to do (Assuming you have unbricked your phone) is find a older version of the genuine R7+ firmware. Preferably some time between 2015- mid2016. The reason for this is OPPO locked the bootloader on later versions, these earlier versions are what the autoroot tool was designed to work on. Once you have this firmware, flash through recovery (provided you still have genuine OPPO recovery), if not you also need to flash this. Once you have the older firmware on your phone you should be able to proceed as usual steps to install lineage on your phone using typical walkthroughs.
what to do next?

unlock bootloader still stuck..
Hi Guys..
First i don't know if i am posting this in right thread or not... but I need help... after lots of search i couldn't find anything to unlock my oppo R7 plus running r7plusEx_11_160922 on color os 2.1.o1 android 5.1.1.. As per my study the first thing I need to do it unlock bootloader, then do TWRP, then install any custom rom. (Please correct me if m wrong). Now please tell me how can i unlock my bootloader when I dont have access to fastboot by pressing power and Volume + key. Is there some other way. I have also tried the adb version 1.4.3 to get to the fastboot mode but it restarts my mobile to lock screen.

Download this rom https://www.dropbox.com/s/xmh77xyinz2iero/R7plusfEX_11_OTA_012_all_201512251816.zip?dl=0. Place it in your internal drive and flash it. It will install the ColorOS with an unlockable bootloader.
Even I'm facing the same issue. There are no such methods available on internet. I have ended bricking phone several times. Because since the last update oppo had limited tho access to bootloader. And the phone OPPO r7 plus f is quite old now so there's no people dealing with the issue. The only methods remain is to downgrade the firmware and repay the process again. Better look for some firmware version around mid 2015-2016early. I read somewhere that has access to bootloader. I haven't tried it personally but I hope the methods will work. Please let me know whatever the result is..

While I don't know exactly how it is on Moto G3, it seems kind of a game of luck if you get OTA updates back. But necessary steps device independent often are:
- Flash stock ROM with a full wipe
- flash stock recovery
- relock the bootloader
- some devices include a flash counter, for example almost all Samsung devices. This counter has to be reset. Works different for every phone.
- for some devices, for example Sony, specific files MUST be backuped before a flash, otherwise there is no chance of getting OTA back.
But keep in mind that this device doesn't receive updates anymore since about last year. So maybe you just look for the most up to date stock ROM and flash it, which btw on my phone is Android Marshmallow, security patch level April 2017.
I hope this helps a little bit, even though I can't provide very detailed information. Let's hope someone more experienced helps further, or just search around in the web.

Is it possible to downgrade from 9.0 to 7.0?

Hi all,
I've given this phone to my parents but with every Android update it keeps getting slower and slower.
I've tried removing as much bloatware as possible, also only basic apps are installed. But the phone is sluggish, lagging and barely usable.
When receiving a call, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds, starts ringing and after other 4-5 seconds it shows the name of the person calling.
Such a shame though, as it used to be a nice compact snappy experience for basic users.
Was thinking to buy another phone, but wanted to ask first if it is possible to downgrade. I've red that downgrading is blocked by Odin due to baseband firmware (is this true?).
Please, if anyone has a solution, let me know.
Also, if it is not possible to downgrade to stock 7.0, is there way to install a custom (nearly stock) Rom based on 7.0 firmware.
Is it possible to Root and TWRP on the latest 9.0?
Thanks in advance
P.S.: I hate this from Samsung, updating phones to make them slower (also no way to disable update notification)... no more Samsung for me I guess!
I tried to install android 7 and 8. It failed. Versions 9.0 (update 09.2020) were successful. Need root.

Question Any custom roms avaible?

Hello and good day everyone,
I am facing alot of unfamiliar behavior because of the Chinese Rom also i can`t install the Global Rom as per the Nubia Tech support.
So i decided to root my device and install a custom rom that i can do everything i want as per my older android devices.
I looked on many sites but i didn`t find any repo i can install it on my device!
Does anyone know of Custom Rom that is support on Red Magic 7 Pro????
The device just launched globally and there isnt even a TWRP build yet.
You will need to wait quite a while, even then, this is a very niche device and might never get a custom rom.
That's unfortunate news for me!!!!
The device is one of the best I have ever used,
But the Android system they installed on it is Bull......
That's something i'm very concerned over, I wouldn't want to purchase a device that doesn't have any custom roms available , I much prefer clean stock android or pixel experience roms , it's concerning to consider this phone may be stuck with only firmware updates from the official manufacturer, I also tried looking for older models from redmagic and they also seem to have very minimal to no custom roms,
I don't trust redmagic with keeping up to date with android judging by how older models also not getting any firmware updates to android 11,12,13...
I am personally holding off from buying this phone because of this factor , likely will end up buying a different phone if something more interesting will release from a more known manufacturer with better custom development community
Actually, this device is not compatible with Twrp.
We have to wait a long time to see a custom rom.
