Adoptable storage? - Moto G 5G Questions & Answers

Hello. I just got a Moto One 5G Ace XT2113-2, which is the US non-subsidized retail version, and it's running QZK30.Q4-40-79.
I've installed a 512GB San Disk microSD card, but I can't get it formatted as 'adopted' storage. When I format it by accessing the "Storage Settings" menu in either the generic "Files" app or the Google "Files" app I am not given a choice between 'portable' or 'adopted.' Also nothing that I can find in the "Storage" section of the "Settings" app.
What am I doing wrong?

[Q] Can write SD but not move apps to

I love my new Moto G LTE but ....
I cannot move apps to the SD card, the option is "greyed out" for apps i am sure they are movable (on other Moto G LTE's)
It is possible to write and read from the SD card (with e.g. ES File Explorer) but when i try to move apps marked as "movable" the option is not possible.
It wasn't working on the original 4.4.3 and now on the original 4.4.4 also not, my device is not (yet) rooted.
Another new formatted SD card gives the same problem, what can i do?
Nobody??
Did you format cards on a Pc as Fat32 and then again on the phone itself?

Yes, I formatted the SD cards (three different types now) twice. It is verry strange the cards can be written by an app like ES File Explorer but the standard Android option "Move to SD" is greyed out!
What can be the reason?

Insufficient storage available.

Hi,
I have an Android device. I bought it from our local cellphone shop, a Cherry Mobile phone. name of the unit is Jelly. Its Android Version used was 4.2.2. I have 165mb of internal storage(17.88mb available) and 14.87GB(13.28GB available) of SD card. I've rooted it using FramaRoot. I'm getting this error when I download or install an application using Playstore and APK installer.
"Error downloading. Insufficient storage available".
I tried clearing the cache. I've put it's Preffered install location to "SD card". Default Write Disk to "SD card" . But nothing worked! I really need help!
I cant download anything! I tried to download Link2SD(a 3mb file) to fix but nothing! I've tried installing Lucky Patcher apk. but it said "Insufficient ....................." .. How do I fix this?
I also noticed this when I was running out of storage, even though there was enough space for apps.
Try deleting some more data in your internal storage, not the SD card, and it should work again.
Basically, if u download an apps from the Play Store, the apps will be stored first in the internal storage. After that it will automatically moved to SD Card if u have root and set ur device.
Does the app which u want to download larger than the available internal storage?
If that so, u should free some memory in ur device.
Otherwise, u could try to enlarge the internal storage of ur device, try to find it in other part of this forum corresponding to your device.
17MB internal is the problem. It can't download an app directly to the SD, it has to pass through the internal memory first.
Clear some space on the internal memory.
Also, try dialing *#9900# and clicking on 'delete dumpstate/logcat'. Might give you a few more MB's.

Directory location of "Move to USB storage" data?

This is a very noobie question but I can't find an answer (I'm probably searching for the wrong phrases). When an app is moved out of the limited internal 2GB memory space via the "move to USB storage" option, where does is actually go?
I assumed it moves to the /Android/data/ folder on the external memory but I can't locate the moved app data on my Oppo Find 5, at least not using ES File Explorer.
Cheers,
M.
OK, sorry, I've just worked it out. Data seems get placed in /mnt/asec

[Completed] Softwinner v11/Astar y3 Broken Internal Storage

Hey everyone,
I bought an offbrand tablet from eBay, model name Softwinner v11 or Aystar y3 (build number says its an Astar y3, so does build.prop , "About tablet" under settings says its a Softwinner v11), running a Quad Core Allwinner A33 CPU and KitKat 4.4.2, already rooted with Kingo Root.
When I bought it, I was told it came with 16 GB of storage. As I started it up, I imediately checked the storage to check if those 16 gb where really there. On the storage screen, under settings, it showed up as having 2 internal storage, one with about 0.98 GB of space and another one with 14 GB of space. Almost the 16 GB, but that wasnt the issue.
The tablet was writing app data to the 0.98 GB internal storage, leaving me almost imediately without storage space for apps. The other 14 GB of space remained completely untouched. After further inspection, I found that the other 14GB were being used as an internal sd card, mounted at /mnt/sdcard.
Now here comes the real issue. I was messing around with it, and remenbered that I could partition my SD Card to work as internal memory. I had done this sucessfully before in my phone, so I gave it a go on the tablet, completely forgetting the fact that I had no MicroSD card on the tablet, only internal memory.
Stupid as I was, I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236566http://
After doing step 1, I realized my mistake. Storage was completely broken. In MiniTool, it was now split between 2 discs, one with a ~10Gb partition called "POLARIS", in fat32, and another with a 2GB partition, which is unallocated.
Now, under Settings - storage, I still have 2 internal storages, except the second storage is now only 428mb and completely inacessible from Windows. DiskInfo only shows System, Data, Cache and RAM, but no internal memory or SD Card.
ES File Manager shows 2 storages, one called "sdcard", with 428.06MB of space and another called "93_81" with 10.38GB of space.
In Windows, via MTP mode, the tablet shows up as v11. If I open it, there is an "Internal Storage", with 426 mb of space. Inside that is a folder called ".android_secure" and another called "93_81". Via USB Mass Storage nothing shows up.
Attempting to copy files over 428 mb to the root or to "93_81" results in a "file is too big" error.
Is there any way to fix this issue? If not, can I return it to how it was, with 1 GB + 14 GB of storage?

Is there some really HUGE Play Store app to test "adopted storage"?

Hello, everyone.
I have a relatively cheap phone (Huawei Honor 4X), and recently I updated it to Marshmallow and did the "adopted storage" trick: I repartitioned my 128Gb sd card into two partitions and formatted it as "mixed" mode.
Unfortunately, Huawei's EMUI 4.0 poorly supports "adopted storage", so I had to do things via rooting and ADB and "sm partition".
Now the first partition is "kind of" recognized as an internal storage as well, BUT, some apps are still on "internal storage" even though I issued a "Migrate Data" command.
Some of them can be manually moved to "Internal Part" (which is the name for my first, "adopted" partition), but some still can't (such as, say, "google street view"). My question is, is there some really HUGE android market app, which I could install to check if it will be automatically installed into "Internal Part"?
P.S. I did issue pm set-install-location 2
It's a shame though, that it is not possible to mandate the phone to ONLY use "adopted storage", or even just "install into the adopted storage as much as possible".
