App Suggestion Forum notifications - XDA App Bugs and Requests

Like everybody, i have my device forums on watch (as well as lots of separate threads). Notifications about threads work well for threads now. However, there are no notifications about forums.
It would be enough if i get notified about any new thread from a forum i'm watching. Being notified about new posts there could conflict with notifications of watched threads as some of those are from watched forum too.
Thank you all for the last update. A couple of features were a welcome surprise ( like the "start conversation" button)

Thank you for reporting this bug, it has been added to our list of upcoming fixes.

Jeyo locked forums in "format change"

Hi
If any of you are using products made by Jeyo such as Jeyo Mobile Companion you may have used their forum to discuss with other Jeyo users the problems and observations you find using their products. It is the best way to communicate with the developers and other users at the same time and would provide useful feedback for improvements to their products.
However after notable negative discussions in the forum about bugs not being acknowledged by the developers and an empty promise made by the developers of a new version within "40 days" of a January post date, the only recent post is this announcement:
Based on your feedback, we're adopting a new format for our support forums. The #1 suggestion we've received is to keep the forums easier to read by reducing the number of postings that aren't particularly relevant to most users. We've evaluated several possible options and decided to close these forums for external posting and instead use them as a way for us to record common support questions and answers -- just think of them as a set of real-time up-to-date FAQs.
You can always reach us with a question at [email protected]. Should you have a topic that you want to see posted, simply email us about that.
Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be converting the existing forums to this new format. Thank you for your patience during the transition!

Jeyo have effectively removed the whole point of a forum and made it just one huge announcement page. There are so many easier ways to separate official announcements and FAQs from discussions; closing the forum to everyone but themselves seems an unneccessary method with other intentions. One comes to mind is to stop people making public criticisms of their products regardless of whether they would be constructive and beneficial or not.
At least I am grateful that xda-developers is still here! I dont think many of us would be too happy if the moderators of this forum suddenly closed posting to everyone but themselves claiming it was for "user simplicity"!

My browser seizes up when threads get more than 1000 posts

Wondering if those of you who have fantastically popular ROMs, or the moderators of those threads, could possibly start new threads for new ROMs, or maybe make stickies with the links & descriptors of the ROMs and another sticky for the forums about them or maybe even responders, like regular people, junior members and the like, could split off specific issues.
I know, I know, I need a new PC.... I did just get a new router; I'm hoping that might help a tiny bit.
Anyone else having trouble accessing busy threads? Any ideas how to solve?
Mods: action re: moving to wiki is happening.
Please delete this thread.

Very low quality posts: new rules needed?

I come here every once and a while to see what's new with my HTC Dream, but I always dread it because it's so cluttered with useless posts. There always seems to be 20+ pages of people asking whether this or that feature works in a particular ROM, or just saying they will install it, or "cool, thanks". Maybe there should be some more posting guidelines? For example,
* If you start a thread, please keep the OP updating with an FAQ as questions are asked. And let people know once you've updated the OP as well.
* If asking a question, make an effort to see if it's been asked already.
* Rate the thread 1 - 5 stars instead of either thanking or bashing the OP without providing any other real content.
* Get rid of post count display. I've seen this help on other forums.
* More moderators for each board, if needed.
Anyway, it's great so many people are into this and eager to post, but let's try make the information a little easier to access for everyone.

a request for recent post feature

To XDA Forum Mods and Developers.
Now, excuse me if this was asked and answered - could not find it anywhere.
Let me exporess MHO: a feature of this forum which would store and bring up the links of last, lets say 10 (preferrably customizable ) posts would be a great addition and time saver. Now if one wants to find his posts (to see if they were answered for instance) he has to go to quick links -> your profile -> statistics -> Find all posts by ***** (and sometimes the search feature is not working so the site asks you to try in 10 minutes...). And here you go.
Considering that many of us (my opinion again) would start our XDA day by checking the responses a direct link to this feature (in the same quick links) would be much appreciated.
If such a shortcut exists i would apologize and ask this thread to be deleted.
If it is the only way and everyone does this steps - see above.
If it is hell of a hard thing to do and there were no request before and you don't think it is something important - see above..
If this was answered (that picky google... ) - see above...
Thanks in advance
P.S. taking the chance - thanks you for this forum (though since i got my HD2 I am ugly addicted to it, and my work suffers.. )
Use the forum subscription feature in your usercp. It has more features, and lets you watch a thread for new posts. Click usercp up above and take a look
yeah, i know this feature. And i do subscribe for threads. But only the most important for me. If i subscribed for any thread i posted something in i would have some 50 subscriptions- not that easy list to browse through... And some posts are really not a life-time-follow-through (i know i can delete subscriptions, but to subscribe, to follow, and then delete - that is even more steps (everyday!) - and hence mess - then "search your own posts" option, with earlier-mentioned drawbacks)... Also it does sort the subscribed threads according to the last post date/time. Which is a mess because one would need to browse through HIS recent posts, not the others...
There is a "Track messages" button in userCP. I meant something like "Track posts" options would be great!
Thanks for a reply though.

[Completed] [Q] Unwanted notifications - how to stop them?

Hi,
I use Tapatalk on Windows and Android, and get DOZENS of XDA notifications every day from forums I have never visited or subscribed to.
How do I get XDA to stop sending these random notifications?
Thanks,
Mark.
Hi,
Go to the app settings, notifications and unchecked the categories you don't want notification for. Or all of them.
?
Hi
The android one is set as I like it, just subscribed topics and forums. At present just one topic no forums... So I shouldn't be getting all this stuff!
The windows version doesn't seem to have those settings, I'll look again later. Tx.
When subscribed to a forum section and forum section notification is on... You get a notification about every single new thread created.

Hi darth.
I am subscribed only to one thread and no forums... but got 37 notifications in a day, see the jpeg attached...
So frustrating.
Ah! Those are notifications of posts of yours that were quoted. In Tapatalk and xda app you can uncheck notification of quoted posts. Honestly, the notification system can be whacky tho..... See here for where I mean,
Any other app issues can be asked about here...

Thanks Darth,
that pic I attached I guess do not explain why I get notifications for forums I am not subscribed to... and my Tapatalk app is set for getting NO notifications from subscribed forums.
I will check out that other thread you mentioned.
Cheers,
Mark.

Again, those 37 quotes are from your posts that have been quoted by others.
I don't know about your other notifications, but that's what those 37 are. ?
I just quoted so, so there's another. ?
See these images,
Not subscribed to any forums
Subscribed to ONE topic
And see the type of notification I am getting to some new thread in a forum I have never seen...
Not subscribed to any forums:
Subscribed to ONE thread only (this thread!):
Yet I keep on getting these notifications for new threads that I am not interested in receiving... how do I stop these:
I'd love to get to the bottom of this...
Tx
Mark.
I'm Confused.... You Began saying the Apps were sending you notifications, but your screen shots are the browser. Is your issue notifications in general, like in the browser, 9r received ones on your device from the apps... Which I showed you how to turn off.
Well, I showed you where to ask about app issues, and for notification issues in general, Please ask here...

XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support.... So not much more to discuss here.
Good luck! Thread closed.
