Best way to offline backup settings + app progression + app settings (chrome,...) - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

Hi,
what is the best way to offline backup settings + app progression + app settings (chrome,...) , before flashing a custom recovery (TWRP)?
Tired to re-set phone and app settings each time and lose game progression.
I prefer offline backup and restore because I am extremely cautious about my privacy, paranoiac if you want.
Many thanks.

well, only you can tell what's best for you, for example I'm using Swift backup or Titanium backup, also you can use builtin MIUI or Google backup, or if your game can save your progress via Play Games, thats also a way ... sooo you can pick/test whatever you want and see if you're happy with the result and use that in the future...

Best Method of Backing up your phone?

So what's the best way of backing up your device after you root? I used ROM manager... (not sure what all this backs up) It gave me a
cache
data
datadata
nandroid.md5
system
files...
So if i end up bricking/soft bricking my phone will this restore my phone to how it was at that time?
I Downloaded Titanium Backup, but from the looks of it you have to manually back up different resources? I uninstalled it.
I backup my Launcher settings using ADW, there is a option in settings and I believe TW and LauncherPro have same. That is the worst part of reapplying a ROM or reverting to stock IMHO.
For Apps I just use AppBrain. Keep my list synced.
Would love to know if there are other options for other info like all the different Logins for FB, Google, Twitter, and other services.
Again I am pretty new to this platform and eager to learn and help.
Is there a way to make a image of a fresh install or ROM of my system once I have all set the way I like. a Baseline of sorts..

I think that's what ROM manager does.. you have to root to use it though
I use titanium backup pro worth the money. Great app it will backup app data and system data can be linked to a dropbox account and will store info there or on SD you choose you need root for general functionality but for backups I think it's hands down the winner in my book.....

remember.. there are no dumb questions. LOL
How do you then reinstall using Titanium?
Flash a Rom of choice and ?? does it make a image ? seems it backs up individual apps and settings.
Going a week of having the phone and I almost have it tweaked to the way I want with apps and such. Finally got Firefox installed on it tonight and Beta 4 on PC and syncing away.
I would be so much happier to have 2.2 on here so I could do Chrome for droid. But .. guess its price I pay for living in the sticks and having US Hell...

[Q] downloading old apps after flashing new rom

I flashed lots of roms and after I flash a new rom it starts to download the apps I had downloaded when I had my Mytouch 4G it even brings back the old wallpaper. What can I do to save my new apps I currently use. I do have the backup my data on and automatic restore on just a little annoying that it brings a lot of apps back that I don't use. I also know I can just use titanium backup but I like the fact the google even restores your home screen's how you left them set up.

i think its a bug in the google restore system. it seems to 'forget' that you are not using some apps anymore.
ill bet that all of the apps that you are not using anymore but are being downloaded are paid ones right?

Actually it does not download the paid ones like for example rom manager it will download the free version but won't download the key I paid for or even set cpu which I bought way before I had a Mytouch 4G.
When I flash different ROMs nothing ever comes down for me. But I just use Titanium Backup to back up my user apps before I flash and restore after and that keeps the apps I want.

Well when I flash any ics rom it usually ask if I want to restore my apps I just like that it sets up all your home screens the way you left them set up and even the wallpaper I was using. It's not that big of a deal I know I can just use Titanium to restore just thought it was a step I was missing.

[APP][1.6+]Efficient Backup-Backup/restore apps w/o FC-Batches APK Installer

Hi bros,
I am Linux developer and have some years using Android phone. Like many root users, I initially use Titanium Backup for making backups for my apps in my device. But I found that it has so many functions and looks jumbled for me to use just app backup/restore. Additionally, it seems to be buggy and failed to handle some of my apps.
I also used some other softs such as App Backup but it is unable to make backup the data/settings of an app. Or another one is Ultimate Backup, this soft is really cool but it looks colorful unnecessarily personally with me and uses a local font for the UI, the one makes it not compatible to many of my apps in my language
So I decide to write an app for my own - Efficient Backup. You can find it on the Play right now.
Yes, like its name, I just focus into the real efficiency of a backup/restore app.
Therefore, all I would like to share with you is: A fast, smart, easy-to-use Backup/Restore soft with simple UI but efficient operation.
Though I made and used it for my own for long time w/o any problem. But releasing to Market is another story. So I am willing to hear feedback from you to improve it. So please feel free to twit or send email to me as hainguyen273 (for both Twitter and Gmail)
BTW, I would like to present to you other products by our APS Technology Group. They are:
- Quick Exit (Froyo+)[/URL] for ending any running app just by long-pressing Camera/Seach button or pulling down the status bar to click
- Quick Settings] for fastest way to switch on/off Wifi/bluetooth/Data/GPS...
- SmartBar for managing apps/tasks and pin everything you like to status bar
- ... so on. You can easily find more our products on Market.
Thanks for attention,
Hainguyen273 from APS Technology Group.
Cheers!
Edit: A ton of new features added in new version.
For example:
- Batches APK Installer: You can use the built-in files Browser to select and install hundreds of apps (APKs) instantly anytime. Batch mode is supported by default (such an ability allows to ignore pressing confirmation button)
- Automatic APK Installer: allows your device to automatically install APKs in a preset folder, also in batch mode.
- Backed up archives Importer: Unique function which allows you to restore app on archives created by other Backup soft such as Titanium Backup, App Backup&Restore, Ultimate Backup... It also allows you to create yourself a quick backup by using any rooted Files Browser to manually copy the app and data directories of apps to anywhere on the SD card, then you can make restore later with the help of Import...> Other... button
- An unique set of tools provided for handling app issues, such as FC Fixer, App Repairer, App storage cleaner, Reset the app to brandnew state, System app Remover, Free/defrost apps, Batches of apps uninstaller...

I haven't yet tried your app. From the descriptions and your provided screenshots, it looks like a very efficient backup tool. The only problem is that I rely heavily on Titanium to manage the apps that I usually freeze after a new ROM flash. I can save my custom lists of "To Be Frozen", "To Be Installed After ROM Flash", "Battery Draining Suspects", etc in Titanium and do batch freezing/defreezing/uninstalling/backing up/restoring of desired lists in one click.
For someone who is not so obsessive/compulsive about such list management, you app would be a very good choice.
Is the app free? Does it restore apps in batches, or one at a time?

Yeah sure, man. I made this app exactly for those who have not so much the need of list management. But as for the need of restoring desired apps after installing rom, my app provided the Save list button especially for that. However, I dont think this feature is a fit for your need, but I recommend you to give a try just for the speed and the smoothness of its backing/restoring task

New update V1.0.1 released.
- ICS has been supported.
- New features:
+ Standalone smart App Installer with automatic/manual storage selections when installing app. Batch mode supported. You can browse for selecting hundreds of apps to install at a time. So quick, so easy!
+ Batches App Uninstaller: So quick and easy again to unsinstall a batch of apps in seconds. Missed clicks? It is smart enough in providing automatic and manual Yes/No buttons. Just up to you only.
+ An unique tool: App Storage Cleaner. Such a tool allows you to scan and clean up the dead packages/app/data in all app storages in the device. As a result, it returns to you a fast and light device
- Performance has been improved even more. It was fast, so now it is even faster.
I though tried to fix as many bugs as you guys reported as possible, but if you have any issue not yet resolved, just let me know.

I was looking for an app which support batch install by sellecting a folder with apks.
So I think I'll stick with it if I don't find any problems(I haven't test it yet, I just installed it).
Anyway, If you' re interested for localization of your app, I can translate it to greek.
Just post the xml files to start.
Thanks.
Have tried this and got few issues.
1. It complained there is no insufficient memory on sdcard(in fact huge is there) but when i skipped that file remaining were restored successfully.
2. Out of 37 apps 3 failed, don't know the reason. App doesn't tell anything.
Haven't tried restored anyway. Im on defy cm9 nightly.

Flashaholic - recommended backup/restore option

Curious what people recommend for restoring apps/data when wiping for ROMs. I don't wipe that often and usually just let Google play automatically restore my apps after going through my initial setup, then restore my nova launcher backup.
However I was thinking about trying a few different ROMs and was wondering I'd there is a better method.
Is titanium a sound solution? Should I just make a titanium backup and unselect the auto restore during the initial set up (so it doesn't auto download apps from Google play?) Then go to Google play download titanium and restore apps/data? Is this a good way or is there better?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't have the play store automatically download my apps. It never worked right for me in the past so I just said eff it. I actually use an app called App List Backup which just makes a list of all your apps and gives you an easy way to redownload them all. I use Titanium for certain apps that have data that I don't want to lose, but that's about it nowadays. When I said be selective, I mean only restore user apps + their data and try to stay away from system things. If you start restoring all system data you can run into issues with stability. At least in the past there was always that potential. Only backup and restore things you absolutely must.

I use Titanium Backup as well. If you're not sure on what not to restore, the safest thing would be to backup your apps with TiBu before you flash. Next, have Google restore the apps for you on the new ROM. Then, you can use TiBu to only restore the data for the apps you have installed (or need data for).

That's what I tried and seemed to work well. However the one "system app" I backed up was Hangouts in order to retain my SMS/MMS. I can restore it via TiB, however after the restore is complete TiB asks me to reboot, which I do, and upon reboot, the messages are no longer in hangouts. Any suggestion?

I don't think that SMS/MMS are part of the Hangout app, but stored in a database at another location on your phone. Titanium has a SMS backup option (in the app list). I've never used it, so I don't know if it works with 4.4. But if it doesn't, there are plenty of apps that can.

As Aerowinder stated, SMS/MMS are not actually part of Hangouts data, but are stored elsewhere. I believe there are two options to backup SMS/MMS data, but I've only used one, and it's worked every single time without fail. In TiBu, hit MENU on the top right. Then, scroll down where it says "Backup data to XML..." under Special Backup/Restore. It'll then give you the option to backup up your messages (SMS/MMS), Call log, or WiFi APs.
The other option is in the apps list under Backup/Restore like Aerowinder stated as well. I've never gone this route, but I'd imagine it works in the same way as it does through the Menu option. I think it even backs it up in XML format as well.

Awesome! Great tip. I remember when restoring from "full back ups" it prompts me if I want to restore from Snapshot or XML, and says snapshot is more accurate. Do you know if there is a similar feature w/ snapshot?

Hmm. I'm not sure about snapshot. I believe when you go to back it up, it gives you a choice of format to back it up as. If I remember correctly, the reason I chose XML is because it said it was more compatible/universal or something like that. Either way, I've never had any issues with XML. All my messages appeared the exact same as they were before I flashed, so I always go with XML since it hasn't failed me yet. :good:

Switching ROMs - Transferring App Data

Hi, there.
I recently purchased OnePlus 8T and tried out the Pixel Experience ROM and really loving it! I see that there won't be any more development until someone takes over the project so I would like to try a different ROM.
I'm wondering if there's a way to save full app data and transfer over. Way way back in the day when I used to tinker lots with Android I used to use Titanium Backup. Is there something like that these days?
Looking forward to some help - thank you very much in advance!
Titanium backup is still a thing, but it doesn't handle split apk files that good (still work fine for data restore for these apps though).
A modern alternative is swift backup that works well.
I have heard good things in the past for migrate as well, but haven't tried it myself
Migrate is a new app to help you switch custom ROMs
Tired of custom ROM switching being an annoying task? Migrate will walk you through the process of switching to another custom ROM with your data intact.

[APP][ROOT][5.0+][1st Nov 2020] Migrate - custom ROM migration tool
Jumping from one custom ROM to another can be a challenging task. So I decided to make an app to simplify the process. Introducing Migrate! Migrate-GPE (v4.0) is on Google Play It was temporarily suspended. Read more here...

I moved from TB to Swift Backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.swiftapps.swiftbackup and I am very happy with it.
double post..sorry
I have been using migrate on A11 and 12-12.1 successfully. Its very Fast. and does bulk backup and restore with data. I also have the paid version of swift and its ok too the gentleman above isn't steering you wrong, I prefer migrate however.
