Way to change region (at least in Theme store)(from China to anywhere else...)? - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Questions & Answers

Subject says it all. I snagged a new Fold 2 from Samsung China, and of course it comes with all the Chinese apps, etc. I can get all the normal western apps I need on it just fine with google play, but the Samsung store and Samsung Theme store is just local Chinese stuff, which is completely useless. I noticed in the settings, everything is changeable except region/country, which is set to China.
Is there a way to change this somehow, to give me access to the western Samsung [theme] stores? I tried using a vpn and cleared cache/data so it reboots seeing US servers, I reinstalled the whole OS using the vpn and no chinese Sim card, I uninstalled it and found the theme stores apks which don't even work at all, and still nothing. I figure there must be some kind of method to change the region itself.
Any help? Thanks

[Request] Possible to modify vending.apk for Wifi Xoom?

The Xoom is released in Canada now. But the market is so bad compared to living in the USA.
For one, we don't see a 'Tablet App' section, so it simpossible to weed out tablet specific apps, this leaves me with so many FC's on apps. Real stupid by google..
Another ofcourse is we don't see apps such as Google books, Pandora etc.. this was fixable using rac's Market Enabler, but since the wifi xoom has no GSM it won't do anything..
So does anyone have any idea, perhaps modify the vending apk to seem it is located in USA
Thanks alot
Have you tried going to the marketplace from withing your browser? It is a bit more functional. It even shows which apps you have already installed without having to go into the my apps section.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
no difference unfortunately
The Featured tablet apps shows only some tablet apps (in US), not all tablet apps, so even this isn't a solution for your problem. Give it some time, i'm convinced that developrs will update their apps to support Honeycomb.
About the apps that are made for US customers, it should be possible to access US Android Market on wifi only Xoom by using US VPN and disabling other location services in setting, but I haven't tried it.
"Market Enabler "

Have you tried copying the build.prop from a US Xoom? Just an idea.
i would go with build.prop before enabler. my wifi xoom does the market without issue and I didn't touch carrier status at all.
Market.enabler.wont work
Wifi xoom has no GSM
And I do have the USA xoom imported it
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I have a US imported xoom too. I connected to a VPN in US, cleared Market data from Setting/Applications and the market showed the Tablet Apps section. But... I tried buying apps and I got a message that it's not allowed (or something) by my carrier!!!
This is a stretch but perhaps its tied to your actual google account. An easy enough test would be for a US xoom owner to fudge a non-us address on their google account or a non US one fudge a US address. I believe this is how Amazon is filtering purchases in their new store.
You're right it must be tied to the google checkout account. Does anybody know if it's possible to buy using Gift Cards?
I've had customers purchase AR.Pro with a gift card, certainly.

well have you tried proving this theory..
by changing locaotin to USA on a google account and sign in with it
I might give this a go, would be interested to know if anyone else has tried it though?

I got it to work! (sort of)
You have to be rooted
Download paid apps enabler http://www.cohortor.org/paidappsenabler/PaidAppsEnabler_v1.1.apk
Set the country as Us T-mobile
Got to Application settings and and clear data
Restart Market
I can now see Books
But Not featured tablet apps.
Ya thats one thing
but the features tablet apps is another, i dotn get why canadians cant see this wtf.
why cant we see apps that are meant for a TABLET in Canada
Ive thought long and hard about any sense in this, maybe laws etc.. but nothing made sense
this is plain STUPID
Featured tablet apps are not showed in Europe also, not even on a US Xoom.
Yup.same here but in Canada
Anyone know how to contact Google or petition

Hi,
I think my situation can show a little light on the subject.
I live in TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). And when I go to my office near the border, the market instantly changes to Euro, enabling me to buy the apps (not all of them shows on the market); and when I go to my home away from the border, the market changes to TL and I cannot buy anymore (Turkey and Google has a little catfight about tax so purchases are disabled)
What I am thinking is maybe the device staples your location by wifi (approx) and then it uses the location (not the provider details) to detemine in which country you are?
I don't know if this might help anyone but, wanted to share; hoping someone solves thes pain in the a.s problem. I am longing for books, youtube, earth and tegra games...
People you do not need anything. No root, no prop files...
I just solved the problem yesterday...
---> Go to Google Maps
---> Settings Tab
---> Latitude
---> Settings Tab
---> Settings
---> Select "Set Your Location/Manually Select a location on the map"
---> "Point on map"
---> Go to anywhere in america tab and hold a point
---> Tap to select this point
Taddaaa, everthing is now open... Books, Earth paid apps everything... As long as you keep your latitude there ( only latitude app cannot be used, It will show you in us(mine is currently in nebraska) ) you can buy and use any app.
After that, just change it back to "Select your location..." (Be aware that when you select back to this option you may lose books and youtube)

[Q] Anyone else unable to purchase apps?

I'll copy/paste from my issue on Google's tracker:
I have an Asus EEE Pad Transformer (TF101) with the latest update: HRI66.US_epad-8.2.3.13-20110511
When visiting the Market, I am only presented with Free apps in the Featured section of each category.
I can search for, and find, paid apps. However I cannot purchase them. It returns the following error: The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found.
I am able to purchase some of the apps with my Phone. I can either go to the web based market and purchase them for my T-Mobile HTC Vision, or I can do it on the phone itself. Then I can install those apps in my Asus Transformer.
However, I can't do this workaround with Honeycomb-only applications because I cannot buy them on the phone first.
I'm located in Puerto Rico. I talked to the guy that makes Reddita, and he said that his apps is setup to be available everywhere

Anyone else have a similar issue? If so, please star my issue on Google's tracker: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16845&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars

Second
I'm still not sure if it's a location based problem or if it's related to something else. Like I said above, the guy from Reddita says that his app is configured to not discriminate by country. Also, he says that he has sold the app to other Transformer users before.
i was able to purchase apps the last time I checked which was after the 8.2.3.9 update

I would hope not. Unfortunately, so far my theory points towards a location restriction specific to Honeycomb devices.
No problems on my Transformer but a while back I had problems buying from my Adam. I went into my Google checkout account settings and just reentered the same credit card info and saved it. I was able to buy apps after that.

Thanks for the tip. Tried that (and adding a completely different CC) and it didn't work.
I can however buy apps for my other two devices (G2 and Nexus S).
I bought my Asus Transformer TF101 from Hong Kong, now live in Malaysia, both Malaysia and Hong Kong are in the list that can buy apps, but appear that i'm same with you.
Just can view apps, appear "The item that you request are not found" bla bla...
Free apps can be use. no problem, btw, i have a Motorola Xoom with me too, same issues. Sad.... duh....
somehow my android phone can purchase apps, i turn to my web page android market, and i noticed that, due to i have 5 device registered to my google account, i can buy apps for my phones, but not for my device that dont have "CARRIER" bound with it. This makes our wifi only device cant purchase apps.
i have mailed google about this issues, but nothing yet, dissapointed, hopes anyone get some solutions. thanks.
Market Enabler, available on the Android Market. Buy the paid version for better features.
I had the problem that I couldn't purchase apps that were offered in a different currency than US$ with my AmEx. I had to use a different credit card (VISA) and then it worked.
I have the same problem, it started yesterday. I'm from Puerto Rico.
Suddenly, the quantity of available apps is much less... I can't find Adobe apps, Angry Birds games, Taptu, none of the Google apps!!
When I go to "My Apps" it only shows those installed apps that are still available to search on the market, but the others are not (even if they are currently installed, were installed before)
If I enable the Hotspot on the HTC EVO and connect the TF to it via WiFi, after re-opening the market, it can see all apps as before, including those in "My Apps" section. This happens because the IP provided by Sprint is USA based. Also, if the TF gets connected to the local router, then the market apps availability gets downgraded again...
So, this appear to be a location based issue... but, how it's possible that all those high profile apps that were available just days ago now are not? I did a factory reset today for troubleshooting... and now can't install Adobe Flash and those apps mentioned above

Ya, market enabler, but, i have to get rooted, superuser, busybox in order to use that, right?
I would love just to only get rooted and continuing receive Asus OTA updates, can i?
I check and i found the is no way, please help.
Hi (Cant purchase apps in market)
Helo I am also from Puerto Rico Im currently using Samsung Galaxy i9000 (International version) Im currently facing with this error since some time now. I been looking on net since long ago day and night and nothing just crap and no answer from google. I tried froyo gingerbread and iCS version from Teamhacksung and nothing. I tried market enabler (both versions in market) i can see paid apps just well I can download the free apps just fine but in paid apps *the item you were attempting to purchase could not be found* Im getting piss off already before was working just fine.
Looking extensively on net i found this video http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=13888035 ---->error sorry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDZtQWt_8TQ
Sorry is not in English but the guy is using something called Gae proxy that seems an alternative that let you buy the apps. Anyway, for me this no worked I tried several times and still it no let me buy the app or just the market no open. I tried via wifi/data plan (3g) and nothing. I did test with pal he has hero and career from usa and he can buy just fine. I tried with my boss who has Captive and Xoom both failed in market with the same error.
This is very disappointed situation that is taking too much already. I have several friends and ppl I know dropping android just because of that. If i keep having it I will do the same or keep forced to get pirated apps wich i no want.
Still waiting for any fix or google response.....
English not my primary language.
Market Enabler won't work on WiFi tablets

I can assure you that even if you're rooted and running non-stock ROM, Market Enabler will not help if you're on a wifi-only tablet. I've been trying to find a solution to this problem since the day I got my WiFi-only Transformer but to no avail. Without any development or hacking knowledge whatsoever, there's only so much that I can try.
What I've found out though is this. The wifi-only version appears to track your location differently than the 3G version such that Market Enabler won't work. I have tried VPN (either direct on device or sharing a VPN connection over WIFI, if that makes a difference at all...), I've tried some location spoofing apps. Force stopped the market app and cleared data and cache and trying the VPN and location spoofing again in various combos, unsuccessfully. Also tried turning off all location services. Tried Market Enabler of course and I have the paid version of that too.
What works though is if I'm in another country, and it's a market-supported country, I'd be able to purchase apps without doing anything extra. I can also buy apps through my phone which has Market Enabler working as intended and once purchased I can install the bought apps through the My Apps screen on my Transformer. This is my current workaround, but I'm still very much stuck when I need to buy tablet-only apps which I can't purchase from my phone. Similarly, I can buy apps from the android market website, but only those I can install to the phone and I won't be able to install direct to tablet unless it's a free app.
Note: I live in a non-market-supported country. I've had this problem since Honeycomb, and now I'm on ICS and also using the rebranded Google Play. This problem seems to apply to all WiFi-only tablets, not just the Asus Transformer.
The only reason why there doesn't seem to be much of an outcry on this is because people chiming in that they can buy apps when they live in a market-supported country, so people think the problem is solved.

Can't seem to access paid Market apps...

I've been doing some searching on the subject but all I find is old threads/info or discussions that don't apply to me, so anyway, hopefully someone can help me.
I can't find any paid apps when i search on the Market, however if I follow a direct link or look for them under additional apps for a certain dev/publisher then they show up... Regardless when i click on the price to buy it I get an error that says "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found. ". If it were a location issue I think I'd get a different error no?
I've had my TF since the summer and I honestly can't remember if I've ever bought any apps directly on it... I've installed plenty of free apps and stuff from Amazon's App store, plus a few apps that I originally bought on my phone (all previously purchased apps still show up under My Apps)... But it's quite possible I never bought any apps on the tablet. Basically i've no idea if this a new or recent problem.
However I can buy apps on my Sprint phone just fine even while on the same account and Wifi connection. I'm in Puerto Rico, which can sometimes find itself in limbo when it comes to things like this but the fact that the market works fine on the phone also makes me think it shouldn't be a location issue. My TF is stock, not rooted, and has the latest updates.
Oh and I have already tried force stopping the market, clearing data/cache for it, restarting the tablet, and removing / re-adding my Google account on the tablet. On the web version of the market it just says any paid app is incompatible with the TF.

[Q] Android 4.3 conundrum.

I bought a smartphone off ebay to run with my budget sim-only contract, lovely spec on the face of it - Octacore 2GB RAM, 4.3 Android. I've done this before with a smartphone running 4.2 and had much fun. This time I'm rather stumped on a couple of issues.
I have already rooted this phone, and the real problem is that I can't access the hidden 'system' settings to change the default app 'play store' equivilant away from a chinese app, which opperates in 'chinese', would you believe?
This means I can't readily identify the tools that might help, prior to downloading them, and in anycase, although I haven't really pursued it to a great degree, it seems almost impossible to use the shopping cart of this app.
I've got as far as downloading the usual playstore app from Google.com, and it apparently loaded - but when attempting to use it (similarily with gmail) the app opens and closes within a second, although the settings say it is running. This means I'm stuck with poor bloatware and cant upgrade to match the units seeming sweet specs.
My google account says it recognises my device and some apps I've attempted to download have stated that they will be 'installed soon', but disappear into the ether.
The search default is also baidu in chinese, although I've installed an English browser.
Is there a ready solution that I'm missing?
Build Id = ALPS.JB3.MP.V1.37 - sorry can't put a link in yet, of course.
Google maps Engine..
Or to put it another way....Google maps engine has never worked ( my feeling is the system files are defaulted to a Chineses alternative) and I obviously cant work any app that involves GPS.
I've rooted this phone but cant find an app from china to let me play arround with system permissions.
I have to ask.....is this area considered 'dark' as I write, over 100 views and not a single coment.

[SM-G935FD] change location for Galaxy Apps

Hello guys,
I've faced a problem, which I need to resolve.
As you probably know, such Samsung services as Galaxy Apps, Themes, Galaxy Entertainer, etc. are strictly depends on region.
In most of regions they are working flawless, while in some regions they have lack of features or didn't work at all.
I'm living in Seychelles right now, and when I try to download some themes, I'm receiving an error "Theme store is not supported in this country".
When I open Galaxy Apps it show me the warning like "Your device or country is only available for limited service". And there is only a few apps, only from Samsung.
Trying to find a workaround I've found the following:
1. Galaxy Apps determining your location by IP address when you are running it at the first time.
(I've set up my wife's SM-G935FD while we were Ukraine and everything is working well even in Seychelles)
So, I reset my phone to the factory defaults. Then I configured a VPN-tunnel to Ukraine (where the all services are working) and connect the phone to wi-fi with ukrainian IP.
Galaxy Apps believed that my location is Ukraine and all of the features were available.
2. When I switched to the seychelles IP address everything was fine for a while. Samsung services still thought that I'm in Ukraine.
But in the end of the day when I've tried to install some themes suddenly I've faced the same problem: "Theme store is not supported in this country"
It's looks like Samsung services are updating their location periodically.
3. Galaxy Apps determining the location by IP and not depends on GPS.
I've tried the FakeGPS solution. It works for any GPS-based apps. Even for google ones. But no luck with Samsung services.
Does anybody know where exactly Samsung services store the information about their location? And how it can be edited manually?
My phone is rooted. So I have a full access to the system.
Did you try to change your CSC? You can do this with Samsung phone info app. But all your data will get deleted.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Hi DIZAZTER
Did you find a solution? I also live in Seychelles and I am having the same issue. I bought a Gear S2 and i can't get any apps to install on it since galaxy apps is limited. VPN works with google apps but not with galaxy apps apparently.
Any help would be very much appreciated
I had that problems 2 or 3 years ago and I contact the support center. Isn't possible to do anything. The problem is connect to the country networks. So the device always will know which country you're at the moment. Unfortunately even that language goes to the country in self on samsung store.
