Root SM-F916B with magisk (or another method) ? - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Questions & Answers

Is anyone successfully root his phone with magisk or another method yet? I try everything with magisk but no way...

How did you unlock the bootloader?

In download mode, vol up and you can unlock it. Save your datas because it make a factory reset

I was able to get to download mode, but what did you do from there? (If this shows too much info, someone please lemme know and I'll delete it.)

Follow this steps https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html

Were you successful on the F916B with OEM unlocking and root enabled in Dev Options?

No one has rooted the 916B?

Question about T-Mobile Root and TWRP

So I've been following this bounty for the LG G5 very closely and I think it's awesome we've achieved Root finally for the LG G5.
I already did the fastboot OEM Unlock but looking all the instructions, I'm starting to get confused.
What is the best order I should proceed in, in order to make sure my phone doesn't get bricked or something if I screw up?
Prior to the LG G5, I had an HTC One M8, I always went in this order:
1) OEM Unlock
2) Unlock Bootloader
3) Custom recovery
4) ROOT
5) Custom ROM
I hope I listed that correctly.
So the only step I have done on my LG G5 is the "fastboot oem unlock"
So does that mean I now have to unlock the Bootloader? If so, where are the resources for that? I have only been able to find the Custom Recovery of TWRP installation instructions, nothing prior to that.
Final question, on this page it says at the top,
WARNING: The stock boot image has dm-verity, which prevents you from booting if you swipe to enable system modifications!
SOLUTION: Flash a root such as SuperSU or phh-superuser. You can also flash no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip.

So does that mean I have to root my device first? and if I do that, what if it bricks or gets stuck, then I'm hosed right?
I just need a more clear explanation on how to proceed with this because this is my first LG Root and usually HTC's Rooting methods were a bit more simpler.
Thanks!
When you did fastboot oem unlock that was unlocking the bootloader. Now you simply need to use the tot file you can find in the developer section to get twrp and the use the supersu and dm-verity zips in there and you will be rooted and ape to go from there. No new roms at the moment but you can install xposed and the g4 tweaks box will allow a lot of the custom options you can get in a Rom.

Glad you got it to work :good:
Please help
I tried re-locking the boot loader also but this has caused the Nougat verification checks on boot to tell me that my device is now corrupt and 'will not boot'. Im unable to get the device to a state where I can use ADB to unlock again?
All I can do is get it to factory reset mode (on LG G5) which doesn't allow me to wipe it or do anything either.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!

You can always go into download mode (hold volume up and plug the phone into a computer's USB 2.0 port) and then use LGUP (with uppercut.exe) to KDZ to stock 20A and then start over. You have to have 20A to use the recowvery method to root anyway. Nothing can be done on 20C anyway. You can get back to 20C if you want to later by flashing it through TWRP.

Magisk install on 905v no BL unlock or Custom recovery

So I recently found a few articles that say it's possible to install Magisk w/o a root or custom recovery.
Example:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/guide-insatll-magisk-root-recovery-t3900475?&ampcf=1
I also happen to have a Samsung Note Pro 12.2 (905v) that has a Verizon locked bootloader.
I am trying to use this method of installing Magisk on it, however I can't get the Adb to recognize the tablet. So my questions are,
Does the Verizon lock down the ability to connect via ADB?
Has anyone successfully installed Magisk in the above method on a Samsung Verizon device? and of so how?
Bonus Question(s): is there a way to wipe the entire tablet and bootloader and start from a blank motherboard without killing it?
Or
Can you boot from SD card?[/SIZE]
Sorry, I miss read the guides I was reading. (ADHD excitement/rabbit hole issues). Can't install Magisk w/o unlocked bootloader

Need Help rooting channel_sprint please. Been trying forever

I been stuck trying to get twrp and magisk to work . Any help would be super appreciated.

Well, do go into too much detail.
you may not be able to install twrp you may have to to a fastboot boot instead then you should be able to install magisk through twrp. i know my moto Z3 play is that way but im not to sure about the G7 play.
Here's what i did on my Z3 Play:
i downloaded a twrp img and renamed it to recovery so it was eaier to type in fastboot. Then i got my phone into fastboot. after getting the bootloader unlocked i ran the command fastboot boot recovery.img which brought my phone into the twrp recovery screen from there i was able to install whatever i wanted to on my phone.
