LG V60 Screen Protectors - Reviews, suggestions, etc. - LG V60 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

I've had my V60 for about 6 weeks now and love it, but the options for screen protectors is rather limited, especially compared to what you can get for a Samsung or iPhone...
I don't have the dual-screen option so I can't comment on the 2nd screen options, but for the phone itself, here's my opinions from my experiences:
1. Pulen "Premium Quality" tempered glass screen protector
I'm not big on glass options since they tend to be thicker and are highly reflective. I kept this on for about a week. I had no issues with it during that week other than massive amounts of reflection. This made it nearly unusable in my car for navigation, which is a big factor for me. I do drive a convertible (most of the time) so that makes it worse for me but even when in my truck (F250 Crewcab) it was still an issue.
Would I buy again? no
2. SuperShieldz Anti-Glare screen protector
I bought the 6-pack off Amazon and I did like the anti-glare (matte) finish which made it MUCH easier to use it for navigation. I kept this on one for about 5 weeks until it sustained a significant scratch. It did protect my actual screen (which is the whole point!) but I could feel it even when swiping gently and it needed replacing..
Would I buy again? no
3. ArmoSuit MilitaryShield Anti-Glare Screen Protector Designed for Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (6.9") (Case Friendly)
Key fact here - this is technically for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G since ArmorSuit isn't currently making ANY options for the V60 ThinQ phone. When I called them (july 2020) they had no plans to make any either... Fit is acceptable to me: The V60 has a slightly taller screen, so there's about 2mm (guesstimate) of unprotected screen at both the top and bottom. Side-to-side coverage is excellent. It does have the notch for the camera, and I've taken many pictures to ensure that there's no interference or blockage and I have none. If you are OK with the (minimal) loss of protection at the top & bottom, then I would expect any screen protector for that phone could be used, which opens up MANY more options. I went with ArmorSuit because I've had the same one on my Motorola Z2Force since a week after I got it back in January 2018 and it looks just like the one I put on the V60. I've only had it one for 24 hours at this point, but given my experience with the same brand/version on my Z2Force I expect I'll not be swapping this out... ever.
Would I buy again? yes (though with the warranty, I get free replacements after I pay shipping)

I have nothing but a great experience with that SP on my V60.

Edge-to-edge screen protector available from AT&T / Moshi

Saw this at the AT&T store yesterday. Didn't spend the $39 or whatever crazy price they wanted for it, but it looks like the best option if you're truly obsessed with edge-to-edge coverage. If it's like Moshi's other protectors, the bezel portion has adhesive, but the actual screen portion doesn't — which also contributes to their "bubble-free" guarantee.
Of course, this also means you'd trade away the S6's pretty unique black/blue color. But, this is a thing that exists.
Had the Note 4 version of this and it was a nightmare. There is no adhesive on the actual display area, only on the top, bottom and thin sides. Once the thin sides pop loose all kinds of junk gets under the screen. Plus about 70% of the cases caused the display area to bow up in the middle and the screen would become unresponsive. Returned it after screwing around with it for only 2 days.
Purchased a Moshi screen protector for my LG G2 from AT&T website and hated it. Same reasons as posted by felloffthetruck. Also since the part over the screen is lifted up, it felt weird every time I touched the screen. Tried to return it at a store and they would not let me. Good thing it was on sale for only $5.

The one I had for the Note 4 was $45.00 and AT&T store gave me a refund.
moshi is a great company don't know if I would pay that much though.
Here is a review of the Moshi screen protector.

IQShield Screen Protector Review

I've had every Galaxy Note that's been available (except the 7), and until the Note 8 came out, I used tempered glass screen protectors because of the S-PEN. Due to the rounded edges on the screen, most tempered glasses are terrible; they don't stick, they pop off, and they leave an annoying gap between the screen and glass. Seeing as the S-PEN is the main feature of the phone, it forced me to use another option. For my Note 8, I tried a few different TPU screen protectors, all of them either felt odd or were too thick and would cause the S-PEN to drag or skip and lose sensitivity. Until I found the IQShield screen protector. Install is straightforward and since it's a wet install, you can position the protector correctly and remove all bubbles.
When I pre-ordered me wife's and my Note 9 on August 16th, I went looking and found the Spigen TPU screen protector was the only option (couldn't find IQShield anywhere). So I ordered that one; BIG MISTAKE!! It's easy to install, but felt very rough and sticky to the touch even a week later. Worse if all, because it is thick, the S-PEN drags and slips across the screen and interferes with the sensitivity making it useless to draw with. While it heals from the S-PEN, the marks are there for a while. My wife disliked it so much, she was willing to go with no cover over this one.
Then I saw that IQShield finally released the one for the Note 9 and ordered the 2 pack (link below). Exactly as expected. Took less than a minute to install, no mess, perfect fit, feels like glass (very smooth to the touch and when running my finger across the screen), is Crystal clear, and best of all is that it doesn't mess with the S-PEN and feels like you are drawing on the glass. I put them on my kids S8's a while ago and recently needed to get one replaced as my daughter scratched it, they replaced it immediately and have fantastic customer service. If you're looking for a screen protector and don't want to spend a fortune, get this one.

P.S. this is not a paid for or endorsed review. I paid for the screen protectors.
I've been using iq shield since the S6 days. Protects the screen. Cheap, easy installation.

[QUESTION] Rhinoshield protection solutions for the Note 9

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone has tried the rhinoshield cases + screen / back protectors for the Note 9.
I have seen plenty of reviews praising both the solidsuit and crash guard, but not much about the frontal screen protector (the one they claim to be full adhesive). Any impressions on this one?

I have ordered a back protector. will give u more info once I get it
I also want to know about the lenses that can be attached to the solidsuit if anyone knows
I am using the Solid suit currently and its been almost 2 weeks and so far so good.
I had the Spigen tough armour earlier which was little bulky so thought of using this one
My colleague has been using the solid suit for his galaxy s9+ and he has dropped it preety much everywhere and he is preety happy with the performance
I have ordered the Rhinoshield Wide+Macro lens + adapter so still waiting for the delivery
Once they arrive will share the experience
For the tempered glass with adhesive i have been using the Spigen one and i am preety much satisfied with it. Moreover it costs little less than the rhinoshield
I totally disliked the front screen protector. It doesn't have black edges but dot matrix ans the common horrible rainbow effects in the middle of the screen.
I would love to try some screen protectors, but my only concern is that I won't able to wash my phone. Ever since I had galaxy S8 plus, I have been washing the phone regularly (3 times a week) with lukewarm water and once twice a month with hand soap. Owned Note 8 and S9 plus, continued the same tradition and the phones were in better condition when I sold them used.
Using a nice glass shield might make me happy, but I am not sure having additional layer of glass would make me any happier. As we know smartphone manufacturers try every year to reduce the thickness of glass as much possible because it makes the phone more beautiful.
I used liquid nano crystal on S8 plus and that was the stupidest mistake. Even though the protection worked, that killed Samsung's dust resistance coating making it a fingerprint magnet. Just few minutes after a clean wash phone would look very oily, dusty and old. In the end phone fell out of my pocket and accidentally closed the car door, smashing the phone. Phone was bent in the center, Samsung said they won't repair due to possible motherboard damage. Lesson learnt - If the phone is destined to shatter, you won't be able to protect it

Gorilla Glass Victus - Bad Micro Scratching

I have had my Note 20 Ultra now for about 3 weeks and out of every Gorilla Glass phone I have owned this has to be the worst when it comes to micro scratches on the display. Every time I clean the screen I look and see about 10-20 more minute scratches on all parts of the screen. And while they aren't visible when the screen is on it is just disappointing that this phone which is supposed to have the toughest glass ever appears to be softer than previous generations.
Just for some background I have owned every generation of Samsung Android phones in either the S or Note variant. I never use screen protectors because even the best ones effect touch sensitivity and refract light differently never allowing you to enjoy the full beauty of Samsung's panels. I always keep a very protective case on the phone, currently the UAG Monarch, to protect the rest of the phone from scratches and more importantly damage from drops. Usually over the course of a year I wind up with a fair share of micro scratches on the screen which typically doesn't bother me at all and I accept as the cost of not protecting the screen.
I have no plans to protect the screen for the reasons I mentioned above and would still choose, even if it was new again, to go without protection. I just wanted to know if any of you were experiencing the same issue I am.
I'm experiencing an opposite reaction. Got my note 20 Ultra on release day, it's display seems to be more resilient to micro scratches than the previous Note 10 + that I owned

No scratches here either. Though I do baby the phone more than the average person.
Mine came with the Samsung pre installed protector and I dare not remove it.
As JerryRiggEveryrhing says " glass is glass"
I always apply the Whitestone Dome Glass Screen Protector after removing the factory fitted one as I'd always be drawn to such scratches.
Speaking of JerryRigEverything I just went and watched his videos side by side of the Note 20 Ultra and Note 10+ and to my eye it looks like the screen does in fact scratch worse on the Note 20 Ultra. The level 6 scratches on the Note 20 Ultra look more like the level 7 scratches on the Note 10+. The level 6 scratches on the Note 10+ look a lot shallower and less noticeable.
Either way it's fine I buy my phones to use them not baby them I'm just a little let down by it. To anyone who cares a lot definitely get yourself a protector because it won't take long before you will start to notice them.
Edit - The Note 10+ picture is on the left, Note 20 Ultra on the right. It was hard to get good screenshots but feel free to watch both yourself.

What kind of screen protector are you using that affects touch sensitivity and has a visible effect on image quality? I NEVER have those issues with screen protectors.
I put the Ringke dual easy due to unknown scratch resistance of the Victus glass. It looks crap in sunlight but at least it gives a little peace of mind

Just about every combination of film or glass protectors that are available. For a while I really tried to find one I liked but would still wind up ripping it off in a week. Glass protectors always refract light weird and just don't have an OEM feel when using the phone. Whitestone dome came the closest but fingerprint sensor never worked right, even with relearning after applying. I really tried to like it especially after spending $60 on it but, like the rest, it wound up in the trash. I eventually gave up and just decided to go naked and have never turned back.

Weird. Whitestone and similar thick screen protectors affected the FP sensor for me, but turning up screen sensitivity eliminated any affect on the touch. I've never been able to discern any visible differences in image quality, but I couldn't handle the affect on the FP sensor.
I've since switched to Ringke Easy Dual screen protectors. They're a film, and you'd never know it was there.
Sand will scratch all these screens... easily.
It will get marred sooner then latter.
Any screen protector also decrease the chance of breakage by impact as well.
I've noticed my urethane protector is hard to scratch but after 3 months... time for another $5 makeover.
I kept the one already installed that came from and yes is very easily scratched but at least it works with the finger print sensor and it's free, and keeps me from the hassle of installing a new one that I can't guarantee that it won't screw the FP sensor.

Question Screen coating quality has definitely improved over Pixel 6 pro!

I generally keep my phone's bare, without cases or screen protector. I had two Pixel 6 pros before. Both developed micro scratches and defects in oleophobic coating within a week of use. I haven't babied the pixel 7 pro by any means and there is absolutely no scratches or defects in the coating. I'm very happy that Google finally addressed this. Anyone else notice an improvement in the material quality of the screen. ?
Lol
Haven't used a bare phone since the ORIGINAL Samsung Galaxy S!!!
My devices always wear case's... Sometimes screen protectors.
My Pixel 7 Pro had a screen protector being applied to it within 15 seconds of coming out of its box, it wasn't even turned on. Gorilla Glass Victus is well known for being great in terms of shatter resistance on drops, but is hopeless when it comes to scratches.
Phones too slippery not to have at least a thin case on for my liking, i do appreciate people like yourself who still raw dog that **** bareback. But yeah my screen has no protector on and its scratch free, i work on a building site also.
I started with case with my samsung Note 9 and have been using them ever since. I think that's when I started with the screen protectors too. I am partial to the matte ones because of how it reduces glare and hides fingerprints well.

The scratches I'm talking about wouldn't go deep enough to reach the glass. They're entirely in the coating.
I had to take the screen protector OFF of the Pixel 6 because of the poor fingerprint reader. It developed quite a few minor scratches. I'm definitely not leaving the Pixel 7 Pro naked since now the Pixel 7 Pro has no more fingerprint issues.

For all intents and purposes, it makes no difference whether it's on the coating or the glass. You can't get rid of them.
I have a love hate relationship with screen protectors which tend to make me use the phones naked. The glass screen protectors all manage to develop big bubbles in the top right corner after a month or so because my face is oily. I guess a little bit collects on the edge and lifts it up a bit or something. The plastic films tend to be a better in this regard but look cheap. Always have issue with the finger prints when a protector in on as well. Do any decent screen protectors exit for curved screens like the P7P?
I think we'll have to wait another few weeks to determine if this is really the case. I think that the stock oleophobic coating might just be a little longer lasting this time around. But we'll have to wait and see.
But also, I am kinda babying my P7P after I had noticed said surface micro scratches on my P6P shortly after my initial unboxing.
Side note, but I'm like you and keep my phones naked - so this stuff is important to me.

I cannot imagine the rationale behind making phones slippery, especially these huge phones that cannot be easily held and used by a person with an average hand size.
I enjoy the build quality of this phone and also think the coating is good. I generally use a case and find the aluminum camera bar looks kind of cool in the case cut out. I don't do screen protectors and have generally been ok over the years, even with drops .
The P7's & P6's have been extremely slippery with the whole shiny glass but it's funny that when the Pixel 4 XL had the matted back & painted side rails it was the best feel & grip to me yet reviewers complained that it wasn't premium because it wasn't shiny like the iphones of that year. Now the same reviews are saying too many fingerprints & how the phone should be matte like the iPhone this year
I'm just happy that Google is trying to walk their own path this year and I hope they continue that.
Yes, slippery phones is an unfortunate trend.
That's really the problem with phones these days, right? Someone big (ahem Apple, Samsung) starts a trend, be it good or bad, and everyone follows it. The physical form of the smart phone has become stagnant. They all look and feel the same.
I'd take frosted glass or polycarbonate back on a premium phone if they made it, but no company has the balls to do that now
I'm enjoying my Note 20 Ultra for over 2 years now, no screen protector, zero scratches, none. I hope my already ordered p7p is equally scratch resistant...

I get the cheapest ones available - hydrogen film tpu - and it works pretty well except at the curved areas where the film tends to raise up and dust will start to collect. For my next film replacement, I will trim off 10mm from the left/right sides so that the film will just stay flat.

yeah I notice the oleophobic coating is a bit better, no discernible fingerprints on the glass yet. I found all pixel devices up until Pixel 6 Pro had really bad coating. This one is much better, but still not perfect.

I have a protector on my phone which came with a £7 transparent cover I bought on Amazon UK, so pretty much the cheapest you can get. I put it on the minute I took the phone out the box nearly two weeks ago, expecting it to be temporary just to protect the screen until I got a decent one. But and it went on perfectly and there has been no raising on the edges near the curve. It actually looks and feels like the protectors that come on phones like Samsung. I'm not going to bother with another. And to make things even better the case came with two of them, so when this ends up too marked, I'll put the other one on.

Probably because all those reviewers are using the iphone as their daily and for some reason think everything should be compared to that phone. iPhones have so many negatives that people ignore in reviews but bash on if an android device has that same negative. Double standards.
