Continue same Screen Off Memo? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite Questions & Answers

Like the title says.
This is not exclusive to note 10 lite, I guess it would be the same on any galaxy note but it's not possible.
There is a-lot of threads asking about this but I haven't found one with a solution or any intresting insights.
For me pining to always on display is really dysfunctional.
The obvious approach is to return to the previous note unless you click save .
If this is not the best most obvious logic its definitely one that should be an option.
At the moment to return to the same note you have to click twice(i dont know why there is a second confirmation). Then remember not pull out your spen. Then tap twice the always on note (which i suppose is consuming a lot of energy but it's good to have as an option).
It is not great.
I am also wondering if it's okey to post this in the other notes forums as well not sure.

Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note

Hi guys,
I have a problem here. Now I've got a Samsung Galaxy S and I've the possibility to get an SGS3 or a GNote (not Note2).
What do you suggest, apart obvious difference in technical specifications?
I currently have a GNote and, although I couldn't really recommend one of these over the other (they're both great phones), I will say that the size of the Note has been nothing but a bonus for me since I purchased it. It takes a day or two to get used to it, but after that it was just like any other phone to me. It fit in any pocket I needed it to and I could use it with one hand when needed (you might not, depending on hand size).
The screen is just amazing. The first phone I've had where pages don't feel squished and frustrating to navigate. Honestly though I'd recommend trying both out for a few minutes, don't let anyone sway you either way without good reason.
easy to chose
the choice is so simple dude galaxy s 3 all the way
I had the SGS1 for just over 2 years and am now a proud owner of a GN2. To be very honest with you the size of the Note is perfect, thanks to the proportions. I found the old Note uncomfortable to hold. Many believe it is an S3. You only really notice how big it is when you pick up your old phone again.
By the way, if you are interested in rooting and flashing a rom on your old S1 I can highly recommend ics333 with the semaphore kernel. My S1 has never worked so well. If i had dared do it earlier I would probably still be using it now and waiting for the GN3

What phone to buy?

Okay, so now, today I´m going to change my actual Phone (Z3 Compact) and don´t know what take, LG G4 and Zenfone are not available for sell here, and I don´t like HTC too much, so my options are Galaxy S6 Edge 64 GB or iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB.
I tried and tested both devices before, and I like both, but I don´t know if take the risk with Galaxy S6 Edge because of his RAM Managment problems, because idk if that problem is even going to be fixed. The other things, camera, screen, features, etc are very good, also I like the Edge desing, it is very new and cool.
Apart of that, I liked the very smoth UI, interface and ecosistem of iOS, it can handle a looot of Apps in background with only 1GB (I don´t need those called "true multitasking" because it seems to not exist in Galaxy S6). I don´t care about how closed iOS is, because I can jailbreak it anyway. The things that I not like from iPhone 6 are that the specs maybe can´t run future apps and get obsolete after some time.
Conclusion: I dont know, I tried both, I liked both, first I was going to purchase S6 until I know about the Ram problems, then I give a try to iPhone 6 and now I can´t decide, for me is a risk take S6 knowing his very serious Ram problem, so what I need now is some opinions to help me finally decide for one, I need to know your experiences guys
Thanks!
You sound like an iphone guy to me. Not being funny, but a friend once asked me the same question. He just wanted a phone to work and I suggested he go for the iphone. It was an iphone 4 and he still uses it happily.
I'd say go for an iphone.
p.s. there is no serious RAM problem. Apps load into memory and work.

Well, I like how IOS just works, what I not like too much are the specs, because I use the phones for intensive tasks and do a lot of multitask, already tried galaxy s6 and I see for my own that the problem with ram management is very serious because it close almost everything and sometimes only keeps light apps (caller, contacts) in background. I like Android, used it for almost 3 last years, but now it get complicated because I need a good flagship phone, and LG G4 for example is not available to purchase yet in my country, neither Zenfone 2 (Ok maybe it is not a flagship, but his multitasking seems very awesome). Last I don't like HTC too much, so it is not a option for me. So my only election now is galaxy s6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but each time I remember how bad was s6 with multitasking in a test I do, I rethink again to purchase iPhone 6. If atleast someone confirm that the problem is going to be fixed, I will go direct to samsung, but until now after some months I don't see nothing yet.
I had a galaxy s6 ,now i have iphone 6 ...
Galaxy s6 is a good phone but with a big problem for ram management...antutu benchmark show me 67000 point ... And the galaxy was no very smooth... Try to find a phone in 2015 with 67000 point on antutu who are not smooth...i don t understand that... It s for that i have iPhone 6 ... And it s more limited for customization but is always simple and smooth. I was very tired to try to fond solution to made my galaxy smooth...it s not normal for a flagship at 700 euros .
With iphone i am happy,i don t Like Apple , but the ram management is Better and it s stable .
The galaxy s6 has a Better camera that is true but photo with iPhone are not bad

cant you wait a couple of months for the NOTE 5/6s...? if you can then i suggest you wait, i have a galaxy S6, and i am very satisfied with it, its smooth most of the time, sometimes i notice some stutter, sometimes the screen response after a second of the actual touch, but i am very happy with it, i know there is a ram problem, but i hardly open a couple of apps, so it doesn't bother me, the iphone 6 is a great phone, no doubt, but you have to consider the cons of the OS, its very limited, you can't do anything without being an itunes user, a bit smaller screen, if you option for the 6 plus then you get the better iphone, though its a bit too big, and too thin, so the bendgate thing is true, and i saw one with someone i know which had a bend, i would say the thing that decides for most people here is the OS....i highly recommend you to wait for the NOTE 5,6S,nexus #......

I was thinking the same, if not purchase nothing yet and wait for future flagships and future iPhone, but in that case when new flagship comes I am going to want next ones and in this way I am never going to get nothing haha. Also, today I am to capital city of my country where I can find the best prices for unlocked versions, so, most probable is that I'm going to purchase the new phone today, the problem is I can't decide yet lol... I think I'm going to explode

i was like you before i got my s6, i had to decide between S6, NOTE 4, M9, wait for the G4 or wait for the NOTE 5, i ended up getting the S6 which is the best out of all these...i know the software is not the best, but LG ui has the same problems and even worse, i have an LG tablet and almost every time i get into the facebook app and then get out, the home screen redraws....i guess its because of the memory leak....if you'r looking for th smoothest then iphone 6...at least for now, until 5.1.1 get released for the S6....

The problem is that yesterday sammobile tested an early build of 5.1.1 for Galaxy S6, and someone ask to they if the ram management problem persist in that build, sammobile answers the question saying that the problem is still happening on that 5.1.1 build. Yes it was a early build, but, that answer give me bad hopes, and coming from samsung Idk if they care so much about this serious problem because they anyway sell a lot... I'm about to purchase s6, but this problem is regret me from doing that.

Yes, it is hard to believe, until you try for your own...
I switched from an iPhone 6 to this. According to what you said just now, I would say that the iPhone 6 is a better phone for you. If you want a phone that just works, the iPhone is really the way to go.

iOS handles RAM management very differently than Android. Only a handful of apps are truly allowed to run in the background. Regardless of if it's listed in the recent apps menu or not, almost all apps are suspended if it's not actively being used. This way of interacting with apps may be preferable for some.
Yes, I use both an iPhone and Android device on a daily basis, I'm not trying to knock either, they both have their merits, but also drawbacks

Is it too late to own a Note Edge in view of Note 5 and other new phones?

Hi there,
I am currently using Note 3 (N900A). Want to get a new phone on Tmobile. Since Note 5 doesn't have memory card slot, IR blaster, and removable battery, Note Edge .
Do you think it's too late to own Note Edge now especially if I want to use Kitkat with it ?
i heard that lollipop update on Note Edge worsens the experience , Kitkat is still preferred. But is running Kitkat on it stable enough to use it for the next one year or two?
Also, i will be using it on Tmobile. Can you suggest which Note Edge variant is the best on Tmobile (N915T or other?)
If you can share your view and experience with your Note Edge as your daily device. That will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
In my honest opinion: Go with the Note Edge.
I still haven't rooted my phone because I simply did not feel the need to do so. I m running lollipop and don't have any complaints. You can always go back to KitKat if that is what you prefer.
My Note Edge is still running as smoothly as the first month I got it, as long as you take care of it (use ccleaner etc.) you will not be disappointed! The addition of the Edge makes multi window kinda unnecessary but makes the experience of multitasking so much better. Before buying though: Try the Edge yourself! (if possible).
In comparison to newer phones, the Note Edge is still a beast. More than enough processing power, ram, a beautiful display which keeps up with today's standards, a camera which is still one of the best on the markets and battery life which you can't complain about.
As you can see, I still love my phone. And of course everyone has a different taste and preference so that is why you have to try it out yourself, see if you like the edge and it's benefits (hint: it takes a while to get to know all the features).
As to your question "Is it stable enough to use it for the next year or two?". From personal experience (owning the device for almost a year now), it is still very stable. Will it be stable after another year? I simply would not know since the device is still (even though the next generation is already here) quite new.
If you have any questions about the device, usage or whatever, just ask!
I'm running my Edge with a flip case by the way, which does not cover the edge but brings a lot of extra features!!
Thanks for the insight.
One quick question about the lollipop update. I read that lollipop update removes some functionality from the edge screen (e.g. Camera shutter button is moved back to main screen).
What about the Answer Call swipe? Does it still use the Edge Screen to do the Answer/Reject for incoming calls on Lollipop?
Thanks.

As far as I know, and I'm always using the flip cover, my calls always come in from the edge. I don't know if that is the case when the flip cover is open though.
To be honest, moving the shutter button to the main screen was good for normal pictures, the only moment it would come in handy was with the front facing camera!
Hope this helps!
Answer Call feature are still on the edge with lollipop 5.1. I love Note Edge. I am pretty upset with Samsung because they drop their balls in this incredible phone. And the critics should go to hell because they were bashing this phone too much, which might lead to the point that consumers were afraid of buying Note Edge.
The edge is unique and very useful, it is not gimmick like the lunatics in Engadget/Cnet were complaining about.

Thanks. So should I go for Lollipop or Kitkat if I am shopping for a Note Edge?
(I am assuming that Lollipop OTA on N915T is not stoppable unless phone is rooted, so most used phones are already loaded with Lollipop?)

I am begining to think either the mass public is just soo dumb (most likely) and or Cnet and other tech review sites are paid off. The Note Edge simply put is the best phone out there. Even if you are not a power user. The Edge screen adds soo much and makes it soo useful. I have a lot of opinions about how great this phone is and how people that disregard it or criticized it are just full of crap. How hard can it be not to see this amazing phone is no gimmick.
Anyways get it. Use Swappa. Phones there are authentic and cheaper than eBay and TMo store. Love my Edge. It came with 5.0.1 but I downgraded it to KitKat and its perfect. I cannot use another phone that doesn't have an Edge screen that actually does stuff like the Note EDge.
Also the criticism that it's hard to hold is simply false. If anything, the edge screen adds more space for you to have a firm grip. I have dropped this phone waaay less than any other phone I ever had. Also get the Flip Case. Oh and the Screen is tough too

All the tech review sites are Apple isheeps. Whatever android features or Samsung phones are mediocre to them. Once Apple copies all of that, those features will be incredible. Now iOS9 has "back button" and "pop up video". Honestly, I want them to go bankrupt.

When I got my Note Edge, I really thought I was going to have an issue holding the phone because of that edge screen. I thought that my thumb would cause all sort of touch issues with it. Surprisingly, I haven't had any of the issues that I thought I would with the Note Edge. The only complaint on this is that it runs slow, but I think that's all the bloat software Samsung and Sprint (especially Sprint) puts on it. So far, I've been able to get rid of some of the Samsung and Sprint software I don't use, which has helped with speed and responsiveness.

Yeah its really good to see others like us man. Its just a shame the Note Edge has been neglected even by Samsung. This phone to this day is simply the best phone ever made. I power use the Edge screen like no other and the S Pen
That's good to hear. Hopefully, I will join the Edge owner's club soon.
BTW, it seems that there is no way to disable the android notification on top. So is it annoying to see notification flashing on both top notification bar as well as on the edge screen? Or do most people disable Edge screen notification?

On KitKat which is really the best Android version this phone can be on because like I said Samsung forgot this phone once it launched, the notfications don't pop on top. It just shows up on EDge Screen
The only thing that shows up on top is the notifications but its muted if that makes sense. It doesn't pop up to annoy your view. you only see them when you drag notifications down. Note Edge's TW is intigrated with 4.4.4. Samsung as is their launch and ditch strategy left Google to update its phones. So 5.0.1 and up notifications are treated the same way as other phones. AS we all know, this aint like any other phone.
its really a tragic tale man. The Note EDge would be soo beast on the Note 5's TW which is 5.1 based
I see. So far, all the used Note Edge on the market for sell are already updated with 5.0.1.
Is the downgrading to stock 4.4.4 troublesome/risky? I couldn't find an instruction specifically for the Tmobile version of Edge.

The T Mobile version is the easiest I'd say to downgrade.
If phone is at 5.0.1, and not 5.1 Follow this direction: http://androidsigma.com/how-to-downgrade-samsung-note-edge-from-android-lollipop-to-kitkat/
Except instead of paying to download the stock KitKat ROM, get it from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473396964
Then if your phone is stuck on bootloop. Do what I did. Restart phone on the stock recovery mode. Wipe data, then wipe cache
After that, the phone will reboot. Set it up, then restart again in recovery to wipe cache only this time. This helps with battery life.
It's that easy. I'm staying on 4.4.4 till Samsung decides to stop playing around and make a new Note Edge
Thanks a lot for the info.
Is there any killer edge panel or edge apps you guys would recommend?

FlipBoard for news, Edgeboard to be able to have another favorite apps panel (Kit Kat for Tmo doesn't let you customiz the second fav apps edge panel). Thats all I use. When you get the Edge, you can see what works for you.
Music player to go for is definitely PowerAmp. I am grateful they cared enough to use the Edge Panel. I wish MX video player did the same
Thanks a lot. I think I am getting a bit ahead of myself.
My immediate concern is, is there a safe way to buy a fully paid off used N915T?
Swappa and Tmobile imei check doesn't say if IMEI is fully paid off or not. It only tells you if it's blacklisted or not. When you check the imei at the time of sale, it's all good and then two months later, it will become blacklisted.
I know that many used Tmobile phone sellers sell their phones , and then stop the EIP payment one or two months later.
Any recommendation on where and how to buy a N915T safely? Thanks again.

Overall? Got it Monday the 18th,not sold on it.
Sure it looks good, feels nice in the hand, but they've kneecapped the phone.Locked bootloader? Only accepts payware fonts from Monotype imaging? I've got 14 days, but as of right now I'm leaning towards sending it back and lighting up the Note 5 again.
MOAR has spoiled me over the years.

My Note 8 is arriving today and I'm expecting the bootloader to get unlocked sometime soon.
I'm not overly optimistic about that happening anytime soon.

I sure hope it's soon.
I miss MOAR Nougat v1.4 too, and before that I thought I'd miss Fre3 Hybrid De[Odex] v2.26b on my Note 3.
But MOAR made getting over Freeza's ROM easier and I've got no doubt the same thing will happen here.

Fre3 Rom for life!!! Loved that rom on the N3. And with cerj themes it was matched by none.
---------- Post added at 08:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 AM ----------
Over all I do love this phone. Sure bootloaders locked which means no custom roms at this time. But for real... I'm getting pretty decent battery life , can de-bloat unwanted apps, themes from Samsung are good enough for me. I got no lag with Nova and the phone is fast. No real complaints here other then Navbar in the way and hard to get to when in messaging. And that's just me. Definitely happy with my purchase.

I'm still adjusting to it... Has anyone figured out a way to hide the keyboard selector Icon on the Navigation Bar?
I must be hitting it by accident because a few times I've looked up to see the Select Keyboard box open while I've been entering text.
Best phone I've ever had. The two things I don't like about it (location of the FPS and speakerphone quality) are bad but still good enough.
Awesome device.
I'll like it so much more once I can use Magisk
Are we to understand that Sprint went the way of others (i.e. AT&T) and locked the boot loader down on the N8?
I love it. My only gripe is the form factor. I LOVED the form factor before this 18(.5):9 form factor. It's not for me at all. I mean.....i'm DEALING with it because ANY phone I get is going to have it. It was between this and the v30 since it's rocking the OLED display now.....but went with this due to the pen. Been a note owner since the 2....and the way I have to stratch my hands to access the top of the screen or "shrink" the screen with the triple home tap....idk. Just wish it was more "palm friendly". OTHER THAN THAT.........is it legal to marry electonic devices? LOL! I knew I'd like it anyway. Its just an updated version of the Note 7 except that retarded location for fingerprint scanning. but hey...i'll take it lol

Often my hands are full when I need light... I am sure most of you can relate.
One of the things I have tried to do with previous voice actuation systems was get the flashlight to turn on and off. As a fan of both Arthur C Clark and Harry Potter, of course I wanted to use lumos and nox for those commands if I could.
With Bixby, it worked almost perfectly until yesterday. Now Lumos searches for "limos". I though I could fix that with another quick command limos -> turn on flashlight.
But that does not work. Even with a quick command telling Bixby to turn on the flashlight when it heard limos, all that happens is some obviously paid content pops up.
It appears that paid results can disrupt your quick commands.
Samsung, if you are listening, disabling my quick commands to make a quick buck is not acceptable. Take the $, but make my command work too! Split the screen if you must, but when a user has created a quick command, DO NOT JUST TAKE IT OVER FOR A COMMERCIAL.
Other than that, best phone ever...
I just got my free fast wireless charger and free 128GB microSD today. So my love has increased.
Wow. My htc devices never did this. I just hit 15% battery. It's 4:50 pm on Sunday. I pulled it off charger yesterday morning. Every htc device I've ever owned (all I've ever owned since window 6) never last a single day.
My galaxy tab 4 7" I've had for over 2 years, I've seen go over a week, but it hardly gets used.
If only unlock bootloader was available in developer options, and Samsung had a developer's website like htc where they give you the tools to unlock bootloader and practically all the tools to root. That part makes me regret getting this device. Considered returning it and getting the newer crap htc is force feeding us (only reason I switched, they lost touch with users)

Note 8 vs S8+

Question for @norbarb and @Venom0642,
(or anyone else who has, or had both....)
Both of you have mentioned having both the S8+ and Note 8. Nearly every review I have read says something like "except for S pen and camera the Note 8 has no advantages". Do you(s) agree with this assessment? Any other observations? I ask, because I'm on the fence about upgrading, and I wouldn't use the S pen, and don't use the camera very much. Thanks, in advance...
My opinion
My wife got a Note 8 the week before my 8+ arrived, both unbranded, unlocked from Samsung. After seeing both, regular daily use for a month...I have to admit, hers seems snappier, more responsive opening apps and navigating around on the phone. She has 7.1.1 and I'm on 8.0 beta 3. Maybe the extra RAM, I don't know for sure. I also thought I would not use the pen enough to pay the premium but, in hindsight the Note would have been a nicer phone.
This is a nonscientific evaluation, she was like "you shoulda got a Note" from day one. If I had to replace my 8+, I know what the choice would be. I did pick the Note for her considering her job, she does take notes on hers. She is a MSN Charge Nurse of the OR and really needed the productivity features of the N8. On my job its just messaging, taking pictures and the basics.

Completely agree, I have the Note 8 and S8+ and AFAIC the pen is the only difference. Don't use the pen that much but since I was a previous Note 7 owner I got the Note 8 for $424.00 plus tax, couldn't pass on that.
Have the S8+ than Note8 ... after 7 days back to S8+. Why ? because changed Note8 for S8+ + 300 euros (insane)
Note8 have S-Pen (didnt use much) little just little better camera , screen is very sharp / brighter then S8+ , overall smooth just a little better (6gb RAM) on Note8 . But battery is way better on S8+ and basically its 90% same phone with insane price difference , ... will see what is goin on with Oreo on both devices or just waith february / march for S9 .
I like my Note 8 more personally...
The extra 2 gb does go a long way to improve the experience and though I don't use the S-pen all the time sometimes it is just too good at replacing my ham-fists when I want to do something precise...
If you have the money to spend I would consider it over the S8+...
I had Note II and I NEVER used that pen. Seems like a great idea but in practice NOBODY uses it. Or if they do, they do just to show off, any task is faster done without that s-pen. So, since the screen is just 0.1" bigger... no real advantage IMHO. Camera should be a little better as well, but who knows. IT all comes to personal preference, whether you like more curved edges (S8+) or less curved phone edges (N8)
The reason the System UI is snappier and apps are opening faster is the new version of Samsung experience. Just flash a Note 8 ported ROM on your S8 and it's as quick as the Note 8. You can instantly feel the difference. The 2 gigs more RAM may keep more apps open in the background but it doesn't really affect the smoothness of the UI. The S8+ also feels a lot more comfortable in your hand. The Note 8 feels huge compared to the S8+.

Good point. But I'm in the US, with only the Snapdragon version. Hence, bootloader is unlockable = no ROMs for us. But thanks for the observations, anyways.
And thanks to all who've posted here. Much appreciated.

I thought the same thing too about the pen but she is not a show off and does scribble notes on the screen quite a bit, she added. I am experienced with roms coming from past phones but no desire to root this 8+. Beta testing is enough for me. As far as size difference, ya'll are nuts. We both use ugly pelican cases because dropping phones really happens (all glass, really?) and we are constantly picking up each others phone, size and shape are so close. I dont understand all the crying about the finger sensor, I guess my hands are big and its easy to find...i don't see what all that whining is about. Its all about preference. Since I flashed 8.0 v3 the 8+ has really been trouble free, just a couple of apps need updates.
I'm very happy to have NOT gotten Pixel2xl's...no regrets there. I cancelled my orders twice and there is no looking back.
