you can either run 2 sims and no SD or one sim and an SD.
this is how its always been

Use 1 eSIM (provided your operator providing it)+ 1 Physical SIM and SD card in other SIM slot

First of all this is note 20 series not s20 series.
Secondly a modification is not needed to OS, since phone has 2 sim slots tray, but SIM 2 is compatible for either a sim or a microsd card.

Never use such thing since it can damage the SIM slot and cause damage to main board. Secondly you don't need this since samsung note 20 ultra has 2 SIM slots but 2nd slot is compatible for both. But you can't have both same time, either it's you have 1 sim installed in slot 1 and MicroSD card installed in slot 2 or you use 2 sim cards and use both slots for sim cards. But then microsd won't work.

I've used them for months and so far no issue, I read the reviews and so many have used them but somehow feedback have been positive. Not a single report of damage as you mentioned. Anyway thanks for the tip

No need for that. Use 1 SIM, 1 eSIM and SD card as was previously mentioned.

I believe HK version (SM-N9860) - the one the OP asked about - does not support e-sim.

Ah sorry then, I didn't know that.

On N20U you don't need to patch framework or root device to use dual sim (no esim but with adopter)+ SD
As N20 already have stock support of two sim (One Physical and one esim) with sd card. So if you use two physical sim it will allow it.

[Q] Is it a must I have a sim card?

I've seen a couple of threads but no one has given a answer! I have a brand new htc inspire 4g from att and no sim card, which I really don't need becuase I've got Tmobile. I want to try and root the phone so I can use Tmobile's sim card and unlock the GSM networks. Is it possible to root the phone without a sim card? And/or can I use my tmobile sim card to root the phone even if its saying network locked?
Although I haven't done it myself, I'm sure it's possible to root without using a sim card.

42 is a reference to the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy: -I was going to post a link to the wikipedia article, but apparently i'm a new user-
The short answer is no, you don't need a sim in to root and unlock. I did it recently
I rooted two inspires without simcards. Used Attn1's hack kit (whatever latest was at the time).

And to the OP, yes you can root without a sim card.

Nexus S - My question relates to and belongs on a closed thread

I just bought a Samsung Nexus S - Model number I9020A - The phone is unlocked - it has no SD Card and it will not access 3G only EDGE.
Is there anyway to upgrade this model phone to the new Android OS?
I plan to use the phone on T-mobile in the US and other carriers in Brazil and Europe.
Other than to return the phone, does anyone have a recommendation about making the phone access 3G and operate without an SD card?
Thanks in advance.

Puzzled - You are not sure I am serious about my question
Of course my question is serious. I would not ask a question like that and not expect a serious answer.
Maybe I came to the wrong place to find a solution.
Sorry about that.
the phone doesnt have a physical sd card, it has a 16gb memory built in. even if it did have a physical one, any phone can run without one. as for updating the phone, as long as its completely stock you should have no problem connecting to wifi and getting the OTA.

Hi, I can download the current version of Android to a computer. But the directions tell me to transfer the data to an SD card. I have no card. Is it still possible to put the current version of Android on my phone without it being over the air?
If so, where I can find instructions for this? Thanks
think of the phone as a flash drive
all you need is a cable to plug it into the computer. this should help

I think you have a lot of research and exploring to do before you attemp this. If this step is confusing then you are sure to be confused later on. Read, read it again, read another thread, try, then ask for help.

Information Photon Q in Europe

Hello to all,
I'm new here, I come from France and I would like to replace my HTC G2 by Photon Q. It does not exist in Europe, unfortunately, so had to buy in the USA.
Before making this purchase I have several questions.
Is it possible to put a sim card in the phone to operate in GSM?
I'd like to know if I take a phone with a bad ESN, I can still make it work on the French network in GSM?
You can choose the language other than English or Spanish?
thank you in advance for your return
You'll have to mod the Photon Q to be able to put a SIM Card in it.
More information -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929143
Bad ESN, good ESN, it doesn't matter if you want to use it in europe.
With a Custom ROM (CM 10.1 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255134 ) you are able to choose different languages.
A Custom ROM is no problem since you'll lose your warranty after the SIM Card mod.
ok thank you, but it will not be possible to keep the SIM card in the phone.

Hi guys.
Any idea about this? Its kk version 3.0.2. My xposed is updated. Other modules work fine except GB.

Have you enabled (tick) it in xposed modules...?

I've heard GB doesn't work well on dual sim variants, although I just rooted my phone yesterday after a few months keeping it clean. I do own a XT1033 but flashed a single sim firmware instead, it's great so far.

Hi can you please tell me that Gravity box and Xposed framework are they 100% compatible and fully functional with dual sim XT1033? From what I have read some of the GB and Xposed Framework features does not work.
If we flash a single sim firmware on dual sim variant then GB and Xposed Framework will be 100% compatible and fully functional?
I am looking to buy moto g unfortunately single sim variant is not available in my country, only dual sim variant XT1033 is available. I am just getting some info of which things are working/compatible or not working with dual sim.

Some mods of the GB don't work on the dual sim variant indeed, you have to do like myself: flashing a single sim firmware or a custom rom.

If we install a single sim rom on the dual sim version and basically make the dual sim a single sim phone? Then all the GB mods will work? I guess you are using single sim firmware on dual sim phone so can you please confirm it?

Gravitybox not responding... But other modules work fine
Because of this I had to remove all the modules...
Found out the solution : the problem was with the exposed settings you need to untick the disable resource option

How to SD card and SIM card 2 combo.

I used fire method separate Sim. Then put Sim+SD card together in the slot.
Results you can see on the photos.

First link does not work, I think, because of the special symbols in it... You can try this one: h t t p s : / / yadi . sk/d/5YI63uiAhz5UD/ (remove 10 spaces) and then open folder with "SIM+SD"...
Second link works fine: h t t p : / / 4pda . ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=640662&view=findpost&p=4166144 8
There are 10 spaces in it also (last one before number 8).
Sorry for this, but I just can not post normal links (not enogh posts)...
OT.. FYI for those who want to try to use this on other phones
I destroyed 2 micro sd cards using this method on Lenovo Phab Plus.
It works for a while but when i remove the sim tray or reboot, the system will say the micro SD is corrupt. Reformat. after a few times the micro sd card gets corrupted and cannot be reformatted. a 128gb microsd shows as 32gb RAW format and cannot be reformatted in mac, pc, phones etc.
It seems it doesnot works when phone is rooted. Its working for me on unrooted and when i root, dual card management is disabled and it only works for sim 1.

Only the SD card is ok, only the SIM is ok, together don't work the SD card, only the SIM card. It's so weird... I think it's a ROM problem or compatibility issue... but I don't know
I think same you, it's a ROM problem. Wait for full rom ver 109.
