is it worth to upgrade from note 10 plus with 12 gb ram for note 20 ultra 8 gb ram? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

I feel it is downgrade more than upgrade

Weird how some regions it’s 8GB of ram. 12GB here.
Is ram that big of a deal? Isn’t 8GB enough?

In germany we get the exynos one... Baddest cpu ever...

How much ram do you have in Germany ?

Exynos 12gb/256gb for Europe or 12gb/512gb with support dual sim

Think we have the 8gb ram Version... But battery life is **** with the exynos also throttling so much. We have hot weather in germany now and my friends s20+ is running hot without gaming... He tried factory reset and swapping the device nothing helps.

Are you sure you're not looking at the regular Note 20? The Note 20 Ultra in the US and Europe shows 12 GB RAM.

Yes , it is note 20 ultrs

LTE models of Note 20 Ultra comes with 8gb ram only , it is available in regions that don't sell 5g models like Egypt

Where have you seen the Note 20 Ultra with only 8Gb RAM? I think you have misread this somewhere!
Only the Regular Note 20 has 8Gb.
Would be interesting if you could show a link to what you've found.
EDIT: Ah you are in Egypt. That still sucks, I hope you get it cheaper though?

Samsung sell it in Egypt for about 1320 $ 256 8gb ram

This really irritates me. Bad enough that it’s not snapdragon. But knocking off 4gb too. And no 5G. Yet the same price

E9825 12/256 to SD865+ 12/256 is just fine for me lol

Honestly if I had the Note 10 + I would not be upgrading. Its just not enough of a leap in my opinion. Especially so with the hampered device in your area.

Yeah, if you look on Samsung's site at the Spec Sheet, the Ultra 5G models have 12GB, but Ultra LTE Models only have 8GB. Not sure why, but it's there on their site. Well, ONLY the Ultra 5G models have 12GB, the rest are stuck at 8.
Thankfully, I'm getting a 12GB version.

I played with the N20 Ultra and I can't see a reason to upgrade. Even the 120hz comes on when it wants and you cant use the highest resolution with the 120hz. I will wait until next year when they get the bugs out. And whatever you do.. DON'T BUY THE NOTE 20. Doesn't make sense to spend $1000 on 1080 screen with no SD card..just a waste.

4GB or 6GB of RAM?

The Honor 9 comes with two different options for RAM. You can get either 4GB or 6GB. During the launch event, Honor showed a video speed test where the 6GB RAM Honor 9 smoked the Galaxy S8.
In this video, you can see it's about on par with the OnePlus 5.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxDGpZhohrY
So which version will you be getting?
The 4GB one, it is already a bit expensive in Europe (at least in comparison to China) and I don't think I need the extra 2 GB anyway
I'd like to take the 6 GB version. But in Europe only the 4 GB version is available. And I don't think buying it in China just to get those 2 extra GB is worthy, since you'll have to pay more after customs and you're probably losing warranty.
Any thoughts about that? Are you buying official store EU or from China importers?
Thanks

16GB on 512 model?

See no mention of this.
Have they backpedaled on max RAM?

yes less than on the s20 ultra unfortunately 12gb only.
they say things have been so optimized on the note and faster internal storage 12 is enough.
the note is supposed to be THE sammy flagship yet its less so in the ram dept (and a few others) than the S20 ultra.
not good
UFS? Is 3.1 so they say 16GB is not needed
I've hit 12GB RAM on my S20 Ultra in use. It will use more ram if it has it just like a 128GB Windows 10 box will be using close to 10GB idle.
And the fact the screen is still 60Hz at QHD.
Doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade to me.
Perhaps if they were giving me $750 trade in, maybe, just maybe but I think this may be a pass which makes it the first time I didn't get a Note.
Waiting for S30 leaks now!

thank you... i will post in that forum
I'd get the 512 gb 12 gb of ram 4G Snapdragon variant if you don't want to root.
The 5G speed gains aren't that great and the battery life will take a hit. Average 20% speed increase is what I've seen reported.
I have the former and it's a great phone.
You can get a Lexar V30 512 gb SD card for about $75. Get the Buds+ or Buds Pro.
You now have a dual drive 1 tb handheld PC...

Best phones with 7+ inches display

Hi, I am looking for a smartphone with a display that is at least 7 inches and relatively affordable.
I was hoping to get a Honor X30 Max but that is only for Chinese market. I saw that Huawei had a Mate 20X but that is quite old at this point.
Is there any alternative at this point, or any credible rumor about a similar device coming to European/US markets soon? Thanks.
You can still get a new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Plus SM-N975U 256GB (FACTORY UNLOCKED) for $800. 4G, 12gb ram variant.
Running on Q. Got one about 3 months ago, it's my second one.
Though its AMOLED display is fixed at 60hz, it's color rendering exceeds many of the newer phones. Supports up to a 1tb SD card.
You can buy used ones for less but you need to be careful, lots of scamming going on.

Thank you, not a 7+ inches though. Although not sure how much difference 6.8 vs 7.2 would make in real life.

An AMOLED vs LCD though make a huge difference. The curved screen takes away some space on the R/L but it has other uses with Samsung's. The spen is also very handy to have mostly for Smart Capture and as a remote shutter release.
It's a 2yo phone but I wasn't pleased with how Samsung or Android 11/12 are evolving so I stuck with what works. It's a fun phone.
Whatever you get, get a good case for it...

Question Preordering S22 Ultra for this pricepoint (200-250€ off retail price), is it worth it?

My carrier just messaged me about their offer for all new Galaxy S22 models with 200€ off from the retail price for S22/S22+ and 250€ off for the S22 Ultra + free Galaxy Buds Pros. With this the S22 Ultra 128GB 5G model would be 1049€, 256GB 5G model 1149€ and the 512GB 5G model 1249€ (all of these are available for interest free payments up to 3 years and the phones are not being bootloader/carrier locked). Is this actually a good offer or should I pass it given that I live in the EU and the model I would get is going to be Exynos 2200 device anyway (which is most likely going to be not as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant)?
Hard to say with zero user feedback. Samsung has been having issues with many of their variable rate displays as are most of the manufacturers using this technology.
Right off the get there's no SD card so you better get the 512gb variant. The spen is in an awkward side unless you're a lefty.
You might want the larger Plus size if you want screen real estate to play with.
The Snapdragon question and what the heat sink differences might be if any will be only fully answered in the future.
Samsung should have another flagship release this fall. Personally the S22U isn't giving me any tangible incentives to own it over my N10+'s. Not even a wash; the tradeoffs outweigh the benefits for me.
The N20U was a close and tougher call to make.
2023 may be a better year to buy. I'm pacing it for 2023-2024 if I like what I see.
Both the N10+ and the N20U can be had at good prices. Used and new ones are available but be careful if you do as there's a lot of scamming is going on. The N10+ is still a great phone and both these Notes support up to 1tb of V30 rated storage. The new N10+'s come loaded with 10, the N20U's likely 11. I'm not concerned with updates but if you are factor that in; the N10+'s limit is Android 12, the N20U's is 13 maybe 14(?) I think.

I would say it depends on which device you come from.. If you currently have a Note 20 Ultra or S21 Ultra, I would wait a bit before committing. Last year I actually went from Note 20 Ultra to S21 Ultra (I know, stupid), and I regretted it at first but then loved it. If you are coming from an older device, then yeah go for it.
