audio quality - ZTE Blade S6 Questions & Answers

hi all,
thinking of getting one of these to use as mp3 player, I've heard the audio quality is to very good, 32-bit/192kHz.
being quite old now I would first be thinking of a good custom rom. what worries me though is would i be losing audio quality with a custom rom?
any thoughts, ideas welcome!!

SRS WOW out for Android/Evo????

Hey ya'll I'm getting ansy for tomorrow's release.. Quick question.. Has anyone found a comperable SRSWOW plugin to add some clarity and "thump" to the phones standard audio output? SRSWow on Winmo is a godsend and truly makes the phones audio double in clarity and crispness across all the bands...
Thanks!
Is there a problem with the Audio?
Mine sounds fine.
This question isn't about a problem, but moreso about the ability to "tune" the audio to enhance the sound. If you have had a winmo phone with SRSwow, you'll know what I mean.. Night and day difference in sound depth, crispness, bass clarity, and seperation from stock.
i've only come across a single media player that had even had an EQ for android. i'll see if i can find the thread...
edit: found it.
astro player
I've dealt a lot with SRS WOW on my winmo device and on a desktop PC... After through testing, came to a conclusion that most of the time it actually makes the music sounds worse. Trashed it and never gone back.

Hmmm.. Not sure how qualified your ears are, but i can guarantee in a car with a smallish sub the SRSWoW made all the difference from stock WM players on Winmo. Inside there might be less subtle changes. The ability to widen the sound and get less mud from the bass is really where this plugin shines. Sounds like its not quite there for Android yet. Bummer!

I produced music for past 3 years (trance), spent WEEKS battling youtube optimizing my uploads for best audio quality, play piano, and am in charge of my church's choir... I think that should be enough to qualify me as "not a n00b in audio/music area"

Touche...We are playing MP3's after all, lol After trying Astro Music I wasn't wowed that much.. Hopefully there are more plugins enroute to satisfy my SRSwow fixation ;/
just do what I did... save up and invest some $$ and get better quality sound system, let it be headphones, speakers, car sound, etc...
I spent $80 on headphones and another $100 on new 3-say speakers for my car. That made all the difference. AMAZING sound quality on both, no need for any SRSWOW patches
I can relate, I need it myself. I need to boost/tune my overall volume as well, & not just in mp3s.
You are a deaf mann frifoxxx !! You cant replace your phones speaker but you can increase quality with SRS.You can configure low frequency to 400hz or 300hz and sound is better better better than standart in ALL WM phones.I think SRS is really necesary for ALL devices that has small speakers like laptops, phones, tablet pcs.Im producing music for 7 years and i think SRS is necessary for all small speakered device. And many manufacturers are using srs engines in their lcd tvs,phones...etc and they have SRS logo on front.sorry for my english if your devices headphone amplifier is bad about bass (like HD2) you can use srs for headphone configuring 40 hz and far input output DB values. And you get the BASSS

I want srs for my sgs2
I have it on my pc and on my i900 its sounds really amazing after adjustements
There is an app called equalizer made by the same guys that make audio manager and it worked great on my evo

I personally like Volume Boost. It literally tweaks the eq to raise volume, has custom and preset eq, and other great tweaks. The "in call" is still in testing, but the speaker, and headphone, and headset quality is pretty amazing for a market app

I like crisp clean sound. Bass is nice but I hate it when the bass is so distorted that it drones out the crisp highs and mids. What's the point of audio I'd you've got the bass turned so far up you can't hear the vocals.

SRSWOW
I am looking for a working version of SRSWOW for my android tablet, It's the Samsung 10.1 and I agree that using SRSWOW no comparison it is the best for not rooting my tablet. All I want is about a 30% increase in sound I have tried several other so called boost the volume apps and nothing has so far worked. So if anyone could steer me in the right direction I would be very happy, thanks in advance..

SRS WOW

I had this on my HD2 and loved it. Is there any way to get it on the Sensation? Is there something similar or better? And as opposed to what some may say it is not just an EQ. It does some signal processing that really make a difference to me. I listen on in-ear headphones (Shure SE535 and Jerry Harvey custom molded JH13's)
its in the htc music player.

SRS is already installed on the sensation.... Well at least the Tmobile branded one is that i know of. when you are listening to music in the stock music app it is in the top right hand corner. if you are watching a movie it is at @ the far left hand corner i also noticed it your movie is encoded with 5.1 surround it gives you that option with headphones plugged in.
SRS Question...
Is there a 'custom' panel of settings for this, used to use one on my WinMo and the customisation was great. I notice on WP7, it is just basic settings like reggae, rock, etc. This is not always acceptable as you should really tune it to your headphones, not so much different types of music (well, for me anyway...)
What's the go with the Sensation..?

[Q] [I9003]How to Improve Audio Quality ?

As everyone knows, the audio quality of I9003 is not up to the mark, and this has been discussed various times.
Its real bad when compared to that of I9000 or of any iphone (personally tried).
If anyone knows about any custom rom, with improved sound or any other rom, or any method to improve the sound quality, please discuss.
As crazy as it sounds I'm actually quite satisfied with the audio quality of our phone (despite my constant whining a few months ago). Although I do agree that the audio quality of most idevices is better.
Anyway I'm currently using cranium rom and miui player on XXKPH. I honestly cant tell if this has any impact on audio quality but recently I've been a happy camper
Others will suggest the use of the equalizer app from the market. Its honestly the best EQ available and you wont be using those EQs that come with the music player anymore. It's free too
I suggest the Playerpro app as well since I've found it to have a louder volume overall and the UI is pretty neat.
And although this might sound redundant but I'm curious as to what headset your'e using. It always helps to have a reliable pair of quality head/earphones
I have the headphones that comes with the i9003, they are quite good. With DSP Manager it has a good quality sound, but Im having a problem with it, the phones speakers keep doing a static sound and drink the battery.
Ill try the equalizer app...

Oh man I suggest you get the Koss Portapros. These are the best sounding and most comfortable headphones I've ever used (and I've used alot). Their sound quality is comparable to headsets which are 3x times more expensive. Plus it comes with a no questions asked LIFETIME warranty- just pay for shipping.
I've been using these for a year and it hasn't failed me. Here in the Philippines it gets pretty hot so comfort is a big issue for me when it comes to headsets. With these on I forget I'm even wearing them
Here is the link for more info: http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro...P4ZH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320488226&sr=8-1
For on ear headphones Ive the senheizer hd202. They are just great. But for listening to music while walking on street I use the in-ear samsung headphones.
The HD202's sound great on well driven devices but unfortunately thanks to its high resistance it just doesnt sound good on most portable devices.
If you want slightly inexpensive mic+ earphones combo like the stock earphones that came with the phone go for skullcandy riot!
They are better than the stock earphones and are not going to break the bank!
Also I want to know on sennheiser hd202 3.5 mm hack do you have 2 concentric black/gray rings or 3 rings?

There are 2 concentric rings.
Have you tried using those portable headphone amps from fiio? The E5 or the E6? I have the old E5 and it does improve the sound from my I9003. The earphones I have used that to my feeling had an improvement were the Denon reference C751 and the Sennheiser IE8 with silver cable. I have also used it on an AKG K420 and Sennheiser PX100 and I did feel some improvement on sound.
Guys what would you prefer
Equalizer app or the Music fx app.

[Q] Beats Audio. Love it or hate it?

I've heard things about Beats (By Dr. Dre). Some people say they're good and some people say that it's not worth the money or it doesn't work. I do agree that the price is very high but I don't know if the quality of the audio is good or not because I don't own any Beats. I have a mod on my phone for it but I still want to know if it is good on the "real" one.
What do you guys think about Beats?
I could just hear the quality short on a friends phone. I would say the sound is great, but in my opinion its not that great for the prize.
I haven't used beats, however i heard they were great in quality.
Just the price of the product is a let down, in NZ their about $400+ for the REAL headphones
great in quality but not so good when comes to price
Beats
I did'nt buy it, it was built into the custom ROM I installed. It gives a nice bass response and the clarity is nice, but there are times I find myself moving through the sound enhancer options for a different sound effect, like for movies or videos. But, for most of the general time I am listening to just audio, whether using earbuds or plugged into a system, it works rather well.
Quality is fairly good compared to standard headphones but they are definitely not worth the price they're being sold for
Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang baby.
I find it funny that Dr Dre is now more well known then ever with all this audio equiptment. Totally sold out.
Love the logo, don't notice any difference in sound quality.
With flashing Beats to your phone you can ear more bass and audio quality.
But Headphones from Dr.Dre are Overpriced. You can find better headphones for same price!

Best rom for audio?

Im currently using cos 13.1 and it has really ****ty audio from headphones. Even my old nexus 4 beats the crap out of it.
Any rom that has better audio or is it the phone itself?
I'm in the same boat as you. OPO don't seem to have a good DAC anyways, and the COS 13.1 really does not help with the audio either. If I can't find a good ROM, I'll most likely get an external DAC, like the Fiio Q1 or something. Anyways, very interested in seeing what the community has to say on this.
Tugapower sounds pretty great. It comes with ViPER4Android which gives a pretty good output after some tweaks.

I just noticed that clean flashing my cos was the fix. I think it was Viper4audio that muffled all the detail.
Now it's way better. Not perfect, but way better.
To expand on Viper4Android;
I recently installed V4A and I don't think I can ever go back. The sound quality is just amazing and it makes my $70 Sony headphones feel like a pair of Sennheisers (maybe a bit of an exaggeration).
I recommend you give it another shot, and play around with the settings, as well as maybe trying out some IRS'. It might take you 5-10 minutes to set up, buy I feel like the quality is worth the effort.
If you're not interested in V4A, you can try A.R.I.S.E which is an excellent alternative.
