Changing Default Messaging App - Realme X50 Pro Questions & Answers

Is this possible? When I change the default message app, it simply reverts back to the built-in one.
I have an RMX2071.
As a side-question, do the current rooting options only apply to the RMX2076? When I try to install the DeepTesting X50.apk, I get an error that there is a signature conflict.
Thanks for any help!

Hi i am using Hercolubus Rom v 2.7 but i dont like default message application. when i install other application like GO SMS or OTHER then i recieve any sms on both application in default n other. So my Ques is How to replace default Message to Other Msg Apk ?
i try to remove default but when i did this.. message wont working So i reinstall rom again for working again.
Thanks n sorry for bad english
This is a problem with GoSMS. They have an option in one of the settings that you have to tick to fix the problem. I haven't used GoSMS in a long time so i can't remember where the setting is.
You can freeze/uninstall the app from Link2SD (even without linking your apps) or you can remove /system/app/Mms.apk from ADB or a File manager that supports root exploring (ES File Manager, Root Explorer) in this case you need to remember that you MUST remount the system partition as r/w.

Unknown sources setting not changing

Hi,
I am now unable to change the "Unknown Sources" setting, after flashing some roms.
The option gets selected but when re-opening the settings is disabled again.
I tried removing all data possible with TWRP, it doesn't change anything.
It's the only setting not working, but I really need it, to install F-Droid for example.
Any ideas?
Kind regards

Sorry for my english thanks for advance
Without knowing what device you have and based on the info you gave here's my advice.
Try other root file managers to replace the nodded settings apk with the original and fix permissions, then reboot.
If you have tried all root file managers with no luck you may need to flash a custom recovery like twrp and use the built in file manager to do this, then use the fix permission option in twrp
One thing that was brought to my attention was whether you properly compiled the apk. Here's the link to the apk tool with instructions on how to properly use it.

"Unfortunately, Package installer has stopped"

Using CM, 13.1, android 6.01.
I have a problem where I can't install apps from APKs and I can't open "permissions" tab in App info. Instead, I get the message "Unfortunately, Package installer has stopped".
I already tried to google, and toggling the unknown sources doesn't work. I try to delete cache and restored to factory setting, but the error remains.
any help is welcome
Still need help
I tried using app ops, but seems it is ****ed on M.
A different permission manager allows me to modify existing permissions but I can't add new ones. As a result I can't record voice messages on WhatsApp for example.
Any advice is welcome.

Changing Stock Dialler?

Hi I see in settings is possible to change the default dialer however when I try to install google dialer for example it fails any ideas?
Image attached
Error message
Google dialer cannot install to mate separately. Problem is not apk, but framework and this part you cannot install when you not have root access and you must install with dialer and contacts from Google.
