How to make to work Google Apps Device Policy - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I successfully done with the GMS installation on my P40 Pro but I need the Google Apps Device Policy and I cant make it work. Is there anyone also facing this issue and made it work? The company where I worked was using this google application due to security reasons for the data we have.
I tried so far was added my corporate account right after the installation of 1st 6 apk files then downloaded the Google Apps Device Policy right after installation of the GSF or the 7th APK. When I open Google Apps Device Policy, it logged my corporate account there as it should because I added it together with my personal google account but it doesnt continue as it is requesting to sign in again and the error cant connect to google service still persist.

Hi, is it Google Apps Device Policy or Android Device Policy (the new one). In our Company, we used Android Device Policy, where it insist on creating a work profile. On this stage, the GMS stopped working correctly and the work gmail account disappeard.
Than I tried to install old Device GApps Policy apk only extracted from my P30 Pro (but on another device where I had already a work profile (I don't like to have multiple icons)) and it was working, it allows me to add work account without creating a work profile. Suddenly, before that I returned the P40 Pro so I don't know, if it's working.

Hi, thanks for the reply. What you recommend is, try extracting my previous working APK with work profile on my older device? I have samsung older device with working profile in Google Apps Device Policy, do you think it will also work on my case?

I don't think so. Only without work profile.
When there is installed GMS on P40 Pro and you want to create a work profile it wont work, the GMS wil start to spam you with error notifications. So, add work account via Google Device policy (install apk), and it might work. But before steps from guide when it installs patched GMS core.
I can't test it, because already I have returned the P40 Pro.

I made it worked thru dedication and luck. Thanks for the tips

Can you apply the steps how you made it work? Because i have this problem too.
I have G Suite account which is asking always to login after installing GMS on my P40.

Google on P40 Pro
I'm still getting the mistake that the device is without Play Protect certification and I can't even log in to Google play, and I also can't add a second Google Account

Hi, i managed to install GMS on my P40 and it works without errors or notifications for Gmail account. (Followed this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYOU_YxrHhc )
The only step that i miss is that i cant login into my G Suite (work) account and cant find any tutorial how to make it work after installing the GMS.
The message that i get is:
1. Couldn't sign in
Your domain requires mobile device management. Please install the Google Apps Device Policy application to enforce security policies required by the [email protected] account.
[Donwload]
2. Clicking on [Download] button it redirects me to Google Play store to download Google Apps Device Policy.
3. Opening Google Apps Device Policy and clicking on Next
4. Here i get an error Couldn't sign in
A problem occured while communicating with Google servers.
Please try again later.
Does someone has a solution for this? Is there a way how i can login with my G Suite account?

G Suite account login succeed
GOOD NEWS!! By lots of trying i managed to make it work.
Here is what i did:
1. Reset the device.
2. After selecting region... you need to set up the Device protection > Set password (6 digits) (Is needed for your work account)
3. Download older version of Google Apps Device Policy (6.92) to you computer. (I downloaded it from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ease/device-policy-6-92-android-apk-download/ )
4. Follow this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYOU_YxrHhc
5. Place that "com.google.android.apps.enterprise.dmagent_6.92-692_minAPI14(nodpi).apk" into "00 Google Installation" folder
6. Now install the first 6 apk's (from video) while "G"-app is running in the background
7. And now install the 7th apk the "com.google.android.apps.enterprise.dmagent_6.92-692_minAPI14(nodpi).apk" you downloaded before. Also while "G"-app is running in the background.
8. After entering accounts open Google Apps Device Policy app. (Click ok & Next >)
9. Here you will get an error "Your device has still not been registred with Play services. Please try after some time." (Click Ok)
10. Open play store (This will disappear)
11. Close all apps and go further with installing "(7) Google Services Framework.apk"
12. Finish the installation (till the end by installing 9th apk which is Google Play services) from the video
13. Now here you'll get a notification that your G Suite (work) account cant login. (Tap on it)
14. Here click on a button [Download]. You'll be redirected to PLay Store.
15. Update Google Apps Device Policy app and open it.
16. Now here click on "Next >" and Allow and again Allow access > Activate > Enforce
Now you can enter Gmail, Drive etc... with your G Suite account
Hope this will help someone.
Device: Huawei P40
Software: EMUI 10.1
PS: For security reasons remove "G"-app from your device!

thanks boglky for the help, the phone now works perfectly it works without errors or notifications for Gmail account ? this video tutorial helped

So I set both accounts personal and work during the process and install google play services with all other apps with no issues. Play store works, personal account works. But when I try to use work account, Device Policy app installs and asks to set work profile without no option to use it as regular (I have my work account on P20 set as regular account with Device Policy and its fine), when work profile gets set it installs all apps like play services etc as separate work and of course they don't work then, work profile cannot complete setting and all pop up notifications appears again.
I tried installing Device Policy older version right after I add work account but when I open account to set it work it asks to install new version anyways.

Hi,
I am experiencing exactly the same behaviour as @jovikus does, on my p40 pro.
I was using the Googlefier method from bender_007 and also raised this in his topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83944723&postcount=744 having no answer so far.
Thanks for your bringing this up and thanks everyone for helping out!
Best,
Octav

Does anyone have any update on this topic?
Thank you!

Any updates from anyone?

Doesn't work for me, any update info?

AL10 can't install 3rd party dialer from google play store

Dear All,
New member here with mate 8 AL10 32GB Chinese version (bought while traveling in China) on EMUI5. Have had problem installing 3rd party dialer apps, like exDialer and so on from google play store. The installation pops "authentication is required, you need to log into google account" message and stop. Tried clearing google play store data, google service data, removing google account from the phone, and all method recommended on the internet. No go. Other apps not involving accessing the contacts in the phone all install with no issues. Has anyone also stumbled on this, and what the solution would likely be? Thanks a lot!
Besides, the contacts in the Huawei phone is super simplified. I'd have liked mate 8 better if the contacts could include more info of a person, such as home address, email address and so on, as is Sony Z3 capable of with its contacts, that I came from.

Hi there ! This is a known bug in B562, everybody has this problem, me included. I don't think it has anything to do with apps accessing contacts, but with apps not previously purchased or associated with your account. There is no known solution so far. You can try the following workarounds:
- install the previous beta version B523 , the Google Play Store works fine , but this version lacks some interface features ( improved notifications , for example ) and maybe some other bugs.
- search for whatever apps you need in APKMirror , download and install manually. Speaking for myself, this is the safest bet because APK Mirror is trustworthy
- you could also try APKPure, which has a kind of a store app for convenience. It's easier to download and install apps, but I can't tell if the apps are malware free, so use it at your own risk ...
Btw, you can use the Sony contacts app if you want, just try downloading and installing it from APKMirror . Not sure if this is the correct one : http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-mobile-communications/contacts-sony-mobile-communications .

That was a great piece of advice. Tried to manually install the Sony Contacts app. Despite a failed installation accompanied with an error message saying a required shared folder is non-existence in the mate 8, I was somehow able to import the contacts afterwards via Bluetooth connection from the Sony phone with all information retained, including the embedded head shot images. The Contacts app now operates the the Sony way too, with the ability of adding a self-defined field.
By the way, my mate 8 is on EMUI-4. The starting post said it was on EMUI-5, and that was a mistake on my part. My apologies.
for those who still have problems downloading apps from google play store, install this http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-account-manager/google-account-manager-7-0-release/

You're welcome, but the failed installation of the Sony Contacts app had nothing to do with your contacts importing, at least taking into account that the installation failed. All the contacts information that you mentioned is in fact standard Android functionality ( and available in Huawei Contacts app, btw ), so most likely the Bluetooth import app has just done its job ... Anyway, I have never had the Play Store problem while on EMUI 4 , only on the lastest EMUI 5.0.

Hi! I've installed this version, cleared data/cache, even removed and re-added my Google acount, but I still get the authentication required error. Could you test it some more, please ? Or maybe there's something else you did ? Thanks!

Google Play Store on Chinese OP 7 Pro?

So my OnePlus 7 Pro arrived today and I'm having problems with getting Play Store working on my phone. Apparently there already have been google services on my phone, thanks to what I could install gmail or google chrome and use them without problems, however there's no playstore. Before, I used to download google package installer from Chinese app market but this time it shows as if I already had everything installed which is strange.
So I downloaded apk for the playstore from the internet which apparently broke my apps using google play services and had to factory reset phone and I'm not sure how to get it working.
Has anyone dealt with it?

I'm not sure if I'll be asked to log into my google immediately after reboot. And I wouldn't be able to do it without setting a vpn connection. So I don't want to end up with useless phone till I leave China.
I'm not sure if that google verification or connection at least is needed to correct me if I'm wrong

Hi! I am fighting with this issue for over a week now
You can change Oxygen to Hydrogen Global version to remove Google Services lock
[simply by downloading global version from the OP website and installing it through the local upgrade],
but it comes with the price:
Text Messages are not graphical anymore
No Spam/Advert calls warnings
There's no access to the OP Market which is quite essential if you're living in China
So it seems like there is no way to have everything from the both words in one phone...?
ps: Greetings from GZ
Apkpure
Hi,
I just bought a OP7 (not pro) from JD.com and just realized as well there was no Play store.
Actually I was able to download it from m.apkpure.com and it worked like a charm (of course VPN required). Hope it works for you too.
Cheers,

Certify Mate 30 Pro by Google Play Store.

I found this link on YouTube where a user explains how to certify the Mate 30 Pro by Google in the Play Store app. I tried this method 1 month ago and although at the beginning the phrase "uncertified device" disappeared from the Play Store, days later the Play Store app showed me that "my device is not certified", so I think it does not work .
Does anyone used this method that explains this YouTube user?

This works!
After testing every method i found here or on youtube im very skeptical. Its very exhausting to try these methods, praying to get only Google Services and all you get are that SPAM-like Pop ups from Google about not having an cerified device.
I bought my Mate 30 pro on the 2nd of March.
Build 10.0.0.193 and LIO L29. Kernel is 4.14.116.
Maybe its because im german

How do you install GMS without data? What method you use? I can't install GMS with data off, whatever I do, it asks for data.
If you save files in usb type c flashdrive or download to pc and set usb transfer files. No need data, wireless.
This link https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/ where they do the certification is very misleading. When you register in theory it should be fine, but what happens is that Google reviews those registrations and decides which ones to allow. So it doesn't matter if you added your play store ID and clicked Register. I got this information from Google support, because I was asking them quite some times to explain why this service for certification does not work and what is its purpose. They told me that they review those requests in order to allow the certification. They could at least give some feedback on their system showing the registrations status - pending, rejected, successful.
I guess they don't care how many paying customers they will lose when they reject the phones and remove the possibility of even adding them manually.

Advice for a new owner

I've taken the plunge and pre-ordered my P40 Pro which should arrive in a few days. I have done some reading around as to whether to go GMS-naked or not and have a few questions still to help make my decision, hoping someone can help...
1) I currently have a Mate Pro 20, so I would be looking to clone my apps over. My understanding is that I can expect the vast majority of them to copy over (even if not on Huawei's AppGallery) but if I was to go GMS-naked, am I right in thinking that these apps would then never update (unless they are on AppGallery)?
2) Without installing GMS, is there any way of getting Chrome working? I use it as my browser on my tablet and desktop and it's helpful to have that sync so would really ideally like it on my phone.
3) Same as question 2 but regarding Google Suite apps such as Sheets and Docs - any hope in getting them without GMS?
4) I have read some positive reviews regarding BlueMail, is it possible to use this for Gmail accounts without GMS?
5) Without GMS, will UK banking apps only work if already on AppGallery? I currently use Starling, First Direct & NatWest - especially the former two so hoping that they would work.
6) If I did go down the GMS route, would I need to be reinstalling it every time there is an Android or Google update or would it be a one-off?

Regarding #5.
Starling works, though Natwest will not either with or without GMS sadly.
I now use yolt which will sync your account for the next best alternative.
#6,
Currently any updates haven't mean a reinstallation of anything.
Thank you, really helpful!! Good to know about Starling.
I don't suppose anyone else knows the answers to questions 1-4?

1. Most can be phone-cloned. They will not update unless you install Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store .. just install all of these and pick your favourite. Notifications wont work for most.
2. Firefox is better and can sync across devices.
3. Part of the attraction of the P40 Pro is going google-free for the challenge and to support Huawei .. I am using Office from the Huawei App Gallery.
4. Despite being on the Huawei App Gallery, BlueMail notifications were unreliable with HMS-naked ... warning message that no Google Cloud Messaging is installed .. that you had to clear evey day or two .. and people that are using BlueMail don't realise that notifications are delayed for a while. BlueMail is a bad app at the moment.
5. Banking apps .. phone-clone or install from Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store ... my banks are working fine . not too many people are reporting problems.
6. Why do you need GMS? Have they fixed notifications with a GMS install? microG is a much simpler and more reliable solution at the moment to give you notifications and you can still get apps from Aurora, APKPure, Aptoide, Amazon App Store.
If you find a reason that HMS-naked and HMS-microG are not acceptable ... and you really have to do a HMS-GMS setup, then I would not buy the P40 Pro ... just get the P30 Pro.
4. I used the stock Huawei email application. Lets you add multiple accounts (gmail/outlook) and gives you notifications without issue. I ended up preferring it to Gmail/Outlook app.
5. I don't have my P40 Pro any longer, but when I did FirstDirect app worked fine through GMS. Monzo bank did also. I downloaded NatWest and it worked but I didn't have an account so couldn't actually log in.
6. You only lose your GMS install if you factory reset. Software updates don't affect it.

I pretty much used the phone out the box with GMS, so maybe that's why I had a different experience. Gmail and Outlook definitely came through with timely notifications using stock app for me.

I have had a mate30 pro for about 4 months and ive not had any struggles, Depending on who you bank with currently you may not be able to get an 'app' but what you can do is save a hot link, So from the browser hit the dots on the top right and add to home screen, What you can do which is what ive done is saved a link with in the login page, really for me it does the same thing shows my balance and that's it really.
I mean if you're looking for apps through app gallery there is 2 key ones I would really recommend one is MoreApps and one is Petal both of which once installed act as a hub for other apps you may need. Its one that I know I've relied on hugely.
Other than that how you getting on with it?
It arrived yesterday and really it's a beautiful phone! Haven't had too much time to play with it yet but seems great.
I cloned over my apps from my Mate Pro20 and had a quick play. All of my WhatsApp history seemed to automatically copy over which is great. My main issue so far is that a couple of apps I have tried to use (e.g. The Athletic) say that Google Services Installation Required in order to use them. If hey are not on AppStore, is there any way I can use them as apps without GMS?
Similar question for other apps that I have cloned over such as betting apps. When I load them it says that location services must be enabled to use the app (which they are) but it doesn't eem to be picking up on this (probably GMS related?).
Are More Apps & Petal a way round sourcing apps not on AppStore but without having to install GMS?

1. I had some success with some apps that were broken with HMS-naked, but worked successfully with HMS+microG (but I have never tried HMS+GMS as it is silly to buy a P40 Pro then hack GMS onto it .. just buy a different phone).
2. Petal is a terrible app ... it just links you to other app store .. google these well know app stores, go to their websites and get the apk for the store and then install the new store on your p40 pro ..
aptoide
apkpure
amazon appstore
f-droid
aurora
I have them all installed and play around with each .. they mostly have similar apps (other than amazon appstore and f-droid).

Thanks, I'm a total novice here so it's really helpful to get some advice.
1) Is microg relatively easy to install? Am I right in thinking that it adds a Google foundation but without GMS? Therefore, some apps from Playstore that didn't work when first cloned may then work?
2) would the benefit of those appstores be that they may have versions of apps that don't require GMS but aren't available on Huawei's Appstore?
3) One other question that I thought of... for apps that I clone over and work fine (but aren't available on Huawei's Appstore) - how will I keep them updated? I do have a Samsung tablet so would I be able to periodically clone them over from that or would I need to do something else?

1. Refer below .. 10 steps but they are simple steps ... it might take 15 mins for the first time .. 5 mins for the second time .. small open-source app to provide notifications only. what notifications are broken for you?
2. correct .. aurora even looks the same as the google playstore .. install some apps, update as required. I often just update apps directly from aurora or apkpure and dont even use the huawei app gallery.
3. Update your phone-cloned apps with aurora, apkpure, aptoide, f-droid, amazon appstore, etc ... I usually update at different stores every few days just for fun ... today is aurora day .. tomorrow is apkpure day.
microG
https://microg.org/
1. Perform a factory reset of the phone.
2. Install F-Droid app (search for the apk .. F-Droid is a store with access to search for apps)
3. Add this repo into F-Droid .... https://microg.org/fdroid/repo
4. In F-Droid, then install MicroG Services Core.
5. In F-Droid, then Install MicroG Services Framework Proxy.
6. In F-Droid, then Install the MicroG FakeStore.
6. Open the Microg Settings app. Grant it all permissions and disable battery optimizations.
7. Add your Google account.
8. Turn on Device Registration, Cloud Messaging and SafetyNet.
9. Restart your phone.
10. Open Microg Settings app, check the status under Cloud Messaging. If it says not connected enter the following in the phone app: *#*#2432546#*#* and restart your phone. Check the status again - it should say Connected. (I had to enter the phone string and restart my phone twice until it said connected).
11. Install apps
12. Check connection in microG app for Google Cloud Messaging
All this will give you is push notifications with Google Cloud Messaging (including the Google Firebase messaging).
I also had notification issues caused by either Huawei PowerGenie and Android Doze .. if the notifications work and then suddenly stop after an hour or so, then try these ..

That's great, thank you. I'm still using my Mate Pro 20 as my phone at the moment so not really sure how effective the notifications on my P40 Pro are. It sounds like it would make sense to factory reset and Microg my P40 Pro before I properly make the switch to using that then? You mentioned it should only take 5 mins to do Microg the second time... unless I misread the instruction guide, why would I need to do it a second time?
And presumably once I've installed Microg, I could just clone my apps over from the Mate Pro 20 as normal?

1. I would test your essential apps first and check if notifications are working for you. what are your critical apps for notifications? maybe you can go HMS-naked and no need for HMS+microG.
2. You have to install apps after installing microG ... otherwise the apps don't open .. if you have only installed a few apps, then no need to reset ... you can just install microG, uninstall those few apps, then reinstall those few apps .. but if you have 20 apps, it might be quicker to reset and start fresh.
3. quicker the second time as you know where to click! that's all.
4. yep.
but .. hopefully your critical apps have notifications working real-time & consistently, then no need for microG.

Critical apps would be WhatsApp, SMS messages and emails. Other notifications such as news/sports and some other social media would be important but not critical.
I'll pop my SIM in tonight and do a comparison of how notifications are popping up vs my Galaxy tablet and Mate Pro 20 to see whether a reset and microg is necessary.
Thanks again for the help, I'll let you know how I get on!

Thanks for the guide, I followed it and got microG running, then cloned over my apps and appear to be getting notifications through (at least for the apps I've tried), which is great!
I have now run into a problem with my Google account though. I was trying to sign in to YT Music and typed in my Google account details but it said there was a problem communicating with Google servers. I then went in to Settings > Users and Accounts > Google and there were some sync issues so I removed the account and went to add it again but now it won't work as before, My microG is also showing as without an active Google account and when I try and add it, I am getting the same issue, I enter my email and password and then it takes me to Googles Terms of Service, which I agree but then get the following message:
Sorry... There was a problem communicating with Google servers. Try again later.
Any idea how I can add my Google account again?

So I cleared the data on my MicroG Services Core app which appeared to fix the problem of not being able to sign in. The issue I now have is that I've signed in to my Google account then when I go to an app such as YT Music and go to sign in, the account doesn't show up, when I then click 'add account' it takes me to MicroG Services but I type in my email and it just says 'This account already exists on your device'...
So my Google account is registered on the phone but whenever I try and sign in to any app with it, it redirects to MicroG Services Core for sign in and then it just says that the account already exists and I cannot go any further with log in

I think you're expecting too much from microG on a non-rooted phone without signature spoofing to use the full microG capabilities.
If want to run a full microG install, then buy a phone with good rooted ROM support with microG already built-in.
I logged into microG and have done no other google logins since .... if any apps have requested a google login, then I have ignored.
you can use amazon music, tidal, spotify, etc .. no idea how to use YoutTubeMusic

I definitely don't know the intricacies of what microG provides but it was definitely enabling much better performance from notifications.
This is an issue for me though as I get free YT Music so not something I would particularly want to give up. I don't appear to have an issue signing into YouTube via my browser with my Google account but it appears any app that requires an email log in directly on the app (as opposed to through a browser) automatically routes me to log in via microG core services and when I then try and log in, it says that the account is already regsitered on my device (which it is but I can't seem to access it for this purpose).
I'm not sure if I just did part of the process slightly wrong and if it#s worth me resetting and doing the whole process again, or if for some reason it's not possible?

I'm wondering if it would work if I reset the phone, cloned over any apps where I need the few apps where I need to log in via Google (I don't need notifications for them anyway), then installed microG, then cloned over all the rest of the apps?

Huawei P40 Lite / JNY-LX1 - Google Services problem

Hello, excuse me posting this wall of text but I have some problems with my P40 Lite / JNY-LX1. Let me explain to you how all problems started:
- I have bought the phone with some firmware, I think it was emui11 or so (I can't remember the exact version), almost 2 years ago. To install Google Play Services, I had to rollback to 10.0.1.167. Everything worked perfectly, done with HiSuite back then, the install of GPS was done with Googlefier app, everything worked from the first try, notifications and all apps. Even the updates to G.P. Services and G.P. Store were up to date to the latest versions, even the firmware was to the latest 12.0.0.237 (emui12). Time passed by till 4 days ago when I had to change my Google Account password, I did that on my Desktop. Now using the phone became a mess because google logged me out of my account requesting the new password. When I tried to log back in the account the app would crash or throw out errors like Can't reach google servers or something like that.
- The first tought of it was to downgrade again to 10.0.1.167. For the beginning I had to use HiSuite to downgrade to 10.1.0.399, then I had to use the dload otg cable method cause the install won't proceed. Everything fine, downgraded to 167 with success.
- Installed again the Googlefier app downloaded from apkmirror and proceed to install GPServices. Somehow I managed to install it by using the ictfix method, managed to get rid of the errors. But now, the Google Play Store and the Google Play Services would update themselves to the latest versions after a few hours (10hrs or so) which makes them show the all time "This device isn't Play Protect certified". To solve this error I have to reinstall the GPServices app and GPStore again.
-I tried to do it with airplane mode on, internet off, different versions of the GPServices app, with the "Auto-Update apps - Don't update apps" settings in the store checked in, but still after a few hours the apps update themselves to the latest versions.
-- Apologies for making you read this wall of text but I wanted to make sure you understand my problems. Now my question is: Does anybody know a solution for this problem? Something to stop the apps updating to the latest versions? I have to say that this thing happens even if stay on 167 or if I upgrade to emui12.
Many thanks to all of you who took from their times to read this !!
I had the same issue with the This device isnt play protect certified, i basically used the newest ictfix.net method to get rid of it, its basically a mix of Google Play Services Apks and a mix of erasing google play apps data to make it work..
https://ictfix.net/google-for-huawei/ go to this link and select /5/9/2022/ APKCOMBO. Follow this tutorial.

I did this but it comes up again after 24hrs or so. The only fix i have figured out is to use an older version of google play services, this way it won't update itself back to the newest that shows up device is not certified. The only problem i have with it is that instagram message notification won't show up, and push notifications for ig and some other apps not all, come up with delay.
