Bluetooth problem with AirPods - Samsung Galaxy A51 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. I have installed the february update on my A51, lots of bugs fixed, but when I tried to use Spotify with Apple AirPods the music keeps breaking.
I was afraid that it was a problem in the phone, but when I connected a BT speaker, it worked perfectly. I don't have another pair of BT headphones to test if it was a problem of the Airpods, I use them with Windows on my laptop and they work great, also tested a Galaxy A30 and they also worked fine, but on my A51 they seem to fail.
Anyone else with problems with Bluetooth, or with Airpods specifically?

Hi. I can confirm the issues with Apple Airpods 2. Shure 215 BT work fine and the Airpods stutter and seem to disconnect from time to time. They are not usable with the Galaxy A51. It gets better if I turn off wireless but that is not an option.

Without case it works. But the case shouldn't be a problem. Its weird

With a thin case it is good but with a thick case it is not.

I reveal the secret. must first be paired without a case for the codec to switch to ACC. Because SBC will stay.

Yeah i do the same. But when acc chosen it has lags

But it supports the Airpods Acc codec.

1. I need first unpair it
2. Remove case and pair again
3. After that leave acc codec? And it should works?
I do the same things and reset bt cash and data just changing acc to sbc helps

Remove the case from the phone. Pair the Airpods. The bluetooth codec automatically switches from SBC codec to AAC codec.

Maybe it has another optimization switch that can help to give better performance for aac?

I don't have this problem with Airpods 2. I reset the phone back to the factory after the upgrade.

Audio out

If i use the 3.5mm headphone breakout cable with headphones, i hear music fine, if i plug a 3.5mm lead that goes to my stereo, nothing is output, if i play with the 3.5mm jack, i can maybe hear music for a second before the music app closes and again no music is output except internal speaker.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
its something to do with the output resisitance. we need to change it. there was some development/research into this a while back.

The answers are a bit scattered across several threads, but if you have a look at Post #7 and onwards in this one is a good start. There are also some photos of made up leads showing how to address.
In essence Oly's comment is correct, but the nub of the issue comes down to the fact that the uUSB port is not just a hard-wired audio output in the manner of a traditional 3.5mm socket. The same contacts are used for multiple functions depending on the resistance presented to the sense contact. That causes the device to change mode and then channel data or audio or go into charging mode, etc.
I can't instantly give you all the links, but if you search on the TG forum for 'audio' and my username, you will find several further references. One in particular on Brighthand gives details about connecting an external hard drive successfully.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Kevin
Audio Output to amplifier
Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936562&highlight=audio+output
and here, as kevinpwhite say, was the first thread facing this problem
http://www.modaco.com/content/toshiba-tg01-tg01-modaco-com/298887/headphone-amplified-sound-output/
Below, my own experience "tuning" a couple of PHILIPS portable amplified speakers to use with TG01 soldering a couple of 470 Ohm resistors:
1)between input left cable and ground cable
2)between input right cable and ground cable as well.
This doesn't affect to the sound at all and you can use any other sound source without problems.

[Q] How to display Bluetooth track info?

Other Android phones are able to display track info "Artist, Song" on my car's stereo. The S6 connects but doesn't display any track info, even when using the same apps and mp3s as before. It will accept music controls (skip track, volume).
Anyone know how to go about troubleshooting this? Or is there a secret setting to make sure track data is displayed? I don't know where to start. AFAIK 4.3 added AVRCP support, so in theory 5.0 should have it too.
So far I've cleared all and re-added only the S6 to the car stereo.
Skimmed the bluetooth log in /Android/data
Checked the files in /etc/bluetooth
This is what I was searching for as well. With my Nexus 5 I had no problem displaying music information on my car's head unit, but this one doesn't for whatever reason. Stock Android has this feature so why would Samsung remove it? Blows my mind.
Either Samsung broke it or they are not using AVRCP properly for BT streaming.
I lost it too coming from the M8 and N5 on my Acura TL.
Mine displays music info. Track and artist. Just connected like normal. May be because my head unit is a aftermarket pioneer.

I think it's an underlying Samsung issue cause if a player fixes it, then it will only work for the music tracks already on the phone.
My Songza streaming info doesn't display anymore since I got the S6 as well.
@boomer8403 if you're game, would you give Player Pro a try to compare? Like @Elisha said I don't *think* it comes down to the app, but I don't actually know. That head unit it supports AVRCP 1.3, which I think is the minimum version that supports sending the track info. Supposedly AVRCP 1.3 was included beginning with Android 4.3.
Does anyone know how to test or check what version AVRCP is actually on the S6?
I've been trying to find apps or even enter the service menu to figure out if it is using ACRCP 1.3/1.5 or another BT protocol like HPF since Friday but so far nothing.
Although I have to say that some head units are also pickier than other.
My 2012 Outlander XLS/GT can display track info from my iPod Tough 4G but it won't on my 2012 Acura TL.
But like I mentioned before, the N5, OPO and M8 all displayed track info for MP3s as well as Songza without issues!
So hopefully Samsung fixes it.
I recall reading somewhere that Samsung broke it with a version of JB but fixed it with a subsequent update later on.
Same problem here connecting the S6 edge to a BMW 5 series. No track info on Google Play, only sometimes with the internal player and no song duration. Further very erratic behavior such as disconnects, no last caller lists etc. Very poor and dangerous when driving. Apparently hardly tested by Samsung. Connecting my HTC M7, M8 and even 120 eur Moto G Works flawless. I am afraid I will have to return my edge because of this.
From Note 4 forums if I understood well, samsung is now using avrcp 1.4 so units with avrcp 1.3 lose the remote controls.
Please can you check if your head units are avrcp 1.3?
Sent from my HTC One M8 using XDA Free mobile app
The newer AVRCP is supposed to be backwards compatible. That's what's broken. No more backward compatibility. In my case, its not like Acura is gonna release a firmware update for my car just so that the S6 will work so its up to Samsung to fix compatibility!

Can you check in the playstore if there is any app for the car stereo brand?
If not you will have to root your S6 and try some third party music apps that could have their own BT modules, or wait for custom kernels

It's a 1 DIN or 2 DIN size?
It will sound crazy but worst case scenario you can change your head unit with adapter for controls on wheel.
If it's a 2 DIN you can get a 7'' mirror link Pioneer, clarion...you will feel liek having a new car inside.
The thing is that since samsung udated their BT modules to 4.1 it broke AVRCP, HTC M8 works ok but even M9 is now 4.1 and I have no clue if they have the same problems.
It could be an Android + BT 4.1 bug that needs a fix from google
Its the built in ELS system with 8" Navi. Not replacing it over a phone!
My M8 worked fine so does my OPO and my N5.
Its not the BT version itself, cause my iPod touch stopped working after an iOS update.
Its the protocol. Some vehicles are pickier than others. My Mitsubishi with Nav can still display the iPod metadata but the Acura can't anymore.
This issue is present on the LG G3, Nexus 6, Note 4 and S6.
Fortunately, I read it was completely fixed on the Nexus 6 once it was upgraded to 5.1.
Once we get 5.1, it should work fine again.

THANK YOU. Was going to drive me nuts.
It works for me but it takes over a minute before it starts. The car does more see the device. Skoda Octavia Combi model 2018.
Anyone else has the same slow starts?

Works fine for me on 2018 Acura. Only issue, as referenced above, is if the notch is hidden, it cuts off the screen on the car's display.
Works fine in my [emoji176]Kia Rio 2018[emoji176]
Had to disable the notch hide... grrrr, works fine, not as snappy as my pixel 2 xl in android auto though, connected to 2018 Jeep
works fine on Chevy Volt 2017.
Yep is fine for me. Was tricky to initially pair but after I changed notch setting it worked. 2017 Mercedes.

Cool! I've never actually used Android Auto. (Mine's a much older system, so too prehistoric to have smart related stuff, but after seeing this, I'm now seriously thinking of upgrading). Does it give you access to all of the stuff on your android phone, or is it just basic stuff like syncing up music, etc?

Its a long-ish answer so just download the Android Auto app on your phone and see it in action. What you see on the phone running the app is what you see in the car (aside from integration with steering wheel buttons etc).
Work fine with Skoda Octavia 2018
It mostly works for me but I have to change the connection mode from USB charging to MPT every time I want to connect to my car. Otherwise, it won't detect the phone.
This is with a Honda Accord 2016. The car connection has the same issue with the OnePlus 3T but not with a Motorola phone that I tested.

Oh Ok, this sort of answers my question anyway. (so basically it's more of an app than a built-in full blown Android OS on a car stereo). In other words, limited features rather than a full OS.. Not alot of point for me then if that's all it does. (Mainly I would have used it for music and gps in the car, but I can already do that from my phone easily enough). But if it had been the whole Android OS that does literally everything my phone does, then that would have been totally worth it!
Thanks for the heads up though! What feature do you use yours for mostly?

Here's something for people with LDAC devices to try out....if you are on Android 10, could you connect to your devices and then go to dev settings and see if you can change your bitrate from adaptive to optimise for audio quality? After updating to Android 10, i seem to have lost that ability with my Fiio BTR3 DAC. Worked fine for me back in Android Pie
I am still getting option to change the bit rate. But will that help?

Yup... LDAC bitrate setting always stays at adaptive on android 10. Tried with a OP7 non pro GM1900 running android 10 (OxygenOS 10.0.1.GM57AA), with Sony wh-1000mx3, wh-xb900n and wh-h910n.
Ergo, this problem isn't limited to a particular pair of headphones, or to the OP7Pro. This seems to be a more generic issue with OxygenOS 10 in general.

OP can you confirm if you have LDAC working on the mobius + OP7Pro. I got about 5 minutes hands on with a mobius at an event last week and could only get SBC/AAC (using an OP7 non pro though)

Question Pixel 7 Pro Bluetooth Issues | Spotify | AirPods Pro2 and more

Hello everyone,
I can't establish a persistent Bluetooth connection with my Pixel 7 Pro and other devices like my car or AirPods Pro 2. The connection always breaks after around 60 seconds when a) listening to music with AirPods Pro 2 and b) listening to music in the car (Mercedes GLE 2022 with MBUX). Devices were already resetted, connections were re-established and all other steps from the Google instructions were followed.
Interesting: if the display stays on and the app is open, it works perfectly. Does anyone here have an idea?
More issues sind I have Pixel 7 Pro (with OnePlus it all worked):
Album cover for spotify songs are no more visible in the car
Update: "Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload" helped at least for AirPods Pro 2. Now I need to get Spotify running with all metadata and art cover.
Here are two screenshots with Spotify open (you can see cover) and Spotify closed (you cant see cover).

Sounds like it could be a Spotify issue. I use USB Audio Player in my Jeep, Work vehicle(Ford Escape) and Audio Technics AZ60 earbuds. I listen to music for hours uninterrupted in all 3 situations.
Try changing the bluetooth avrcp version to 1.6 in developer settings, restart, and see if there are still metadata issues

I tried that and 1.4 but it was all still the same. Maybe do I need to do something additional? I also disconnected bluetooth and established a new connection.
The look changes when you have Spotify open and screen turned on and when you turn it off. It is so strange... Same goes for youtube music and other media apps.

Glad to hear it works fine for you However, why should Spotify not work on Pixel 7 Pro but work on all our other smartphones?

I'm having some Bluetooth issues with my Pixel 7 Pro connection with MBUX.
A lot of times when I'm getting incoming calls, I can't answer them by pressing Accept on my MBUX screen. I see that that phone is connected otherwise the person calling name would not show up on my cars screen.
On MBUX I try to reconnect my Pixel 7Pro but it says connection failed on my car.
Anyone else having this issue with the Pixel 7?
No problems here so far with Bluetooth and Pixel 7 Pro. I'm using it together with Samsung Galaxy Buds and the Navigationsystem of my Hyundai.
Maybe check whether there is an Update available for your Mercedes Benz Navigationsystem?
In the past I had problems with my old OPPO Find X3 Pro and the Hyundai Navigationsystem. It was solved by a combination of updating the Navigationsystems Firmware and updating the firmware of the OPPO Device.
Good Luck.
No issues here....I have a 2020 Honda CR-V .
Spotify covers always show for me.
Airpods pro, sony BT buds work fine all day..
