If you just wanted to flash kernels, if already rooted you could could just use an app like Franco Kernel Manager, etc., to flash kernels. A main purpose of this adb enabled stock recovery is to allow decrypted filesystem access in case you could not successfully boot into OS normally. For example, I know of someone who used it to delete a particular file that was causing boot loop after they rebooted right after installing Viper. When we get a fully functioning TWRP for the 5G McLaren, this recovery will be unnecessary.

Can this be used to update our Android version since unlocking the bootloader has messed up receiving OTAs?

@ntzrmtthihu777 came up with an OTA fixer, which is currently located at https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro-mclaren/how-to/hd1925-10-0-19-fastboot-rom-ota-fixer-t4040629 . Also, you would want to flash back the stock recovery (i.e, without adb enabled), and fully unroot, etc., before OTA as well. If you still couldn't OTA update at that point, then you'd want to backup important files to external storage and flash our device's latest MSM image.

Does anyone here know a good Post on how to unroot my device so I can go ahead and do the update for my phone?
I have a McLaren 5G T-Mobile. I'm currently on version 0.19 and I just received the OTA this morning to update to version 0.25.
I'm new to all of this rooting world. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

You could try the OTA fixer linked in the post above your post, and this restores the reserve.img file in /data/reserve/ . After restoring reserve.img, you could open Magisk Manager and choose full unroot. Then, after rebooting, OTA might be able to install; if not, a surefire option is to flash the latest MSM image. The MSM flash in our device forum should be a last resort, because you would probably want to back up important files to external storage and almost everything is replaced starting from scratch.

No, you'd need to use latest MSM tool if you were stuck on 19, but you may want to backup any important files to external storage first. https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro-mclaren/how-to/op7tpro-tmo-5g-unbrick-tool-to-restore-t4043925

I figured it out after messing around. I meant to come back and edit my post. I saw the msm post and thats the only reason I messed around with this phone. I just wish there was a working twrp for this phone so some roms come over. but that may never happen.

seems like the 31 recovery is wrong - cannot install OTA without it = = FIXED!!!! HAD TO APPLY ORIGINAL 2X for some reason" literally used the same download to apply again... I dont get this phone

I moved from TMO to Google Fi about a month ago and I haven't had any issues since moving over, other than this weird call terminating thing that I fixed with a new SIM card. However, I would like to get rid of the TMO ROM that is on here. Does anyone have any advice on what to go with? Just stock OxygenOS rom? I found it at the oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade forums. However, I can't follow the instructions at the bottom because my "System Update" page does not have a settings button in the top right hand corner (I assume bc of TMO build). Also, the build number appears to be different. 10.3.3.HD01AA vs. 10.0.9 that I have seen elsewhere, but similar dates on them.
Do I need to unlock my bootloader and completely flash a new ROM? Sorry for being such a noob about this.

If you're on the TMO 5G variant, I would get the bootloader unlocked and then flash AOSiP. You can definitely use stock ROM, but are limited to TMO's update schedule which differs from OnePlus devices sold directly. With a custom ROM, you get flexibility. Just know you won't have a fingerprint scanner for the time being, but the software advantages and flexibility and battery life increase are worth it in my opinion!

Linux ISO - Unbrick the Fire HD6/HD7 [Video] [Testers Wanted]

Testers wanted: Anyone who uses this method, let me know if you can access stock recovery after this method.
Summery
Thanks to the amazing work by our active member @bibikalka, a method was found to unbrick these devices Thread link here. The method he found was slightly tedious for some people, so I've decided to put together a Linux iso that you can boot into on your computer with everything you need to get your device running again. It uses the same methods proposed but makes things easier. This comes with all the necessary drivers, scripts to do everything you need, all the img files needed to flash, a hex editor for advanced users, and more. Before the scripts included in this OS, determining the option (A, B, or C) to take in order to unbrick the device required .part files to be evaluated manually. Now with the custom script, it can quickly evaluate what option to take.
Video Instructions
Brief Instructions
1. Download the Linux iso:
Linux ISO
2. Burn the iso to a USB drive or cd
3. Boot into the operating system
4. Type "root" at the login prompt
5. Right click on the desktop and choose file manager. Go to "aftv2-tools" folder
6. Right click on file manager and press "open in terminal"
7. From device turned off, enter command "./handshake.py", then plug in device. You may need to do this a couple times to get a connection. Try pressing volume keys & power etc to get it connected. See video if you have problems
8. After handshake is complete, run "./reader.sh"
9. After all addresses are read in, run "./determineOption.sh". You should get back a result of A, B, or C
10. Depending on the option returned (A,B,or C), run "./readerSpecialOptionA.sh", "./readerSpecialOptionB.sh", or "./readerSpecialOptionC.sh". This is an optional step but may be useful if you want to back up part files or their were no options available. Back up part files to a usb drive if you want to be safe.
11. Now the actual unbricking. Run "./unbrickOptionA.sh", "./unbrickOptionB.sh", or "./unbrickOptionA.sh" depending on your option. This can take about 40 minutes
12. hold volume up and run "./complete.sh" at the same time to get into TWRP
13. boot into your default operating system on your computer
BE VERY CAREFUL FROM NOW ON
13. We will be installing Fire OS 5.3.1. If you are not installing this ROM, make sure you know what you are doing. Download the ROM:
update-kindle-20.5.5.2_user_552153420.bin
14. Download 5.4.1_1133_stock_recovery_uboot.zip: 5.4.1_1133_stock_recovery_uboot.zip. Without this you could turn your device into a paperweight. This installs stock recovery and a uboot version that MUST be installed. This file was taken from the thread here: how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps
15. Rename the ROM extension from .bin to .zip
16. Transfer the two files to the Fire
17. Do a factory reset. Flash the ROM and uboot&recovery file
18. Reboot! Your device should now be working. It will take about 15 mins to boot up.
Big thanks to @bibikalka for helping work everything out and for the initial unbrick method.

well, after seriously struggling with the parent thread mentioned in the OP I've managed to get to TWRP & am just waiting for my win10 machine to install it's updates before attempting to adb push the uboot & zip files for installation back to fireOS.
feels great to see the screen displaying something other than the looping amazon logo after months of frustration. I do not have the words to express my gratitude for @powerpoint45 for an excellent & well thought through tool and walkthrough. special mention also goes out to @bibikalka

great to hear! I hope everything works for you! After you get everything done, can you check if you can get into recovery.
after flashing both zips & rebooting I've now got my working fire (OS 5.3.1.0) back. thank you Mr PowerPoint!
i tried rebooting to recovery & it now takes me to the stock amazon recovery not TWRP..... which is unfortunate.
I did get asked if I wanted to install SuperUser which was a no-brainer YES. although I'm staying offline until I identify a functional (fast) flavour of android to flash. suggestions welcome.

Good to hear everything is working. Ya TWRP does not work with 5.x bootloader. Good to hear you can get into stock recovery because I had some incidents where I could not get into it. Thanks for responding. The only custom ROM ATM is CM13.

sorry to trouble you again but do you know where I can find a guide/walkthrough of how to root via adb & install twrp or cwm to allow flashing of a rom & gapps..
I can only find the kingroot method & the CM11 rom discussion. where might I find the CM13 you mentioned?
I have searched fruitlessly. I guess I just need a little guidance to avoid running straight into another brick.
cheers.

I meant to say CM11. This guide is probably one of the best http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950/page1
This is a bit older one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-downgrade-to-4-5-3-root-device-t3139351/page1
In order to have TWRP, you must have a 4.x bootloader so CM11 would work with it.
Thank you

yes you should be fine doing that
Unfortunately, did not respond
I worked

Waiting for preloader...
Found port = /dev/cu.usbmodem1420
Handshake complete!
In the second step does not respond to the order ./reader.sh
Also tried
/.read_mmc.py 0x0000000 0x1000 0x0000000.part
Does not respond
By the way tried way on more than one device
And tried through the system Max os x and the system arch-custom-firehd67-unbrick100516.iso did not work and also the same result
MY device Amazon Fire HD 6 version 5.3.1 All functions work, but I need to work downgrade to 4.5.3
Is there a solution to my problem

I am also getting the same results with my HD 7 4th gen. The handshake completes just fine, but the reader just hangs. When I'm in recovery, I get errors saying the /cache folder failed to mount. I'm thinking the memory is corrupt and there is no way to fix this.

Unfortunately it appears that with the latest bootloader on the latest Amazon update that they have disabled these commands (such as reading and writing). Unfortunately if you can't get into recovery with (vol+ & power) then it is currently unrecoverable. Best option for an unrecoverable device would be to buy another motherboard from eBay or some place. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace. I've had to do it a couple times now.
Confused
First you say it should be OK to downgrade:

yes you should be fine doing that

Although, it's unclear how, since reports indicate that sideloading older
firmware bricks the device (or, does that only apply to 5.x?).
Then, we learn that the preloader trick (from aftv2-tools) doesn't work anymore:

Unfortunately it appears that with the latest bootloader on the latest Amazon update that they have disabled these commands (such as reading and writing). Unfortunately if you can't get into recovery with (vol+ & power) then it is currently unrecoverable. Best option for an unrecoverable device would be to buy another motherboard from eBay or some place. They are pretty cheap and easy to replace. I've had to do it a couple times now.

BTW, are we sure that this is *disabled* as opposed to _tweaked_?
(e.g. by changing the protocol slightly by, say, requiring an extra byte
or two "confirmation" before execution? has anyone bothered reversing
the bootloader? [Please excuse my ignorance, but would this be handled
by UBOOT, TEE1, or some other component?])
So, what's the current best option for 5.3.1?

OK. So, I found this post by @zeroepoch,
which makes it very clear that said exercise has been performed for the AFTV2...
No reason to believe that this would be different for the Fire HD7...

My understanding is that you only need to worry about bricking if You are downgrading to another lollypop ROM. We found out that the device has a fuse that is set in later lollypop ROMs where it will check against the current version. But this check only seems to be on lollipop ROM's. As for the aftv2 protocol, you might be right but I don't know enough about that yet to know. Currently we have no unbrick method for latest bootloader. If you can get into recovery then you could sideload but most can't get into recovery during brick.
I've followed the steps but not into twrp, only screen amazon and reset. I'm not good at English

64 Bit OS Development

Edit 25/10/2020: OK its been a while guys, if you want to try a ROM I'd highly recommend following LineageOS's wiki for instructions. Then if u want to try other ROMs keep an eye out in these forums, ill have a build up every now and then. See ya around guys
==========================================================================================
Rather than having random comments in random parts of the forum here is a thread for everything 64 bit on G7 Play.
CURRENT STATUS
WE DID IT!!!! CHECK SyberHexen's ANDROIDFILEHOST FOR DOWNLOAD!
OLD POST ARCHIVED BELOW
And here is what is available so far:
A nice selection of ROMs for the other G7's, but they dont actually boot on the Play, although should do something in theory
postmarketOS is aarch64, but that is mobile linux, and no phone interface works (x.org doesnt work with the current drivers)
Here is what I've tried:
crDroid from ocean:
I got it to install by: repartitioning device using ocean gpt.bin
Then flashing stock rom from channel
Booting TWRP
Flashing ROM, with modified zip accepting channel
Doesnt boot
Also tried a flash using ocean firmware completely, doesn't boot, but got the logos and bootloader works lol
If anyone has any tips or progress drop it here, eta kids go away. Read the status above if you want the up-to-date answer

You have to compile the kernel from source and use a 64bit gsi and flash a 64 bit vendor partition I'm pretty sure everything else will work fine. I'm working on getting a new dev environment set up I'll give it a shot... This phone is reeeeealy under developed. Proly cause the g6 play is a way better phone and much cheaper to boot

I think maybe you can just pick out driver binaries from 64 bit /vendor and use all the configs scripts and frameworks from the original vendor
Try backing up/vendor pieceing the drivers from another device of the same model but diff carrier and a combo as such would work. If not mistaken the. Vendor from the Verizon g6 play worked for sprint except data and wifi or radio in general didn't work.. that's a start right there
I think the modem is going to be the same architecture no matter what so you wouldn't have to worry to much about that
64bit Test
Okay so this sh*t probably totally won't boot up at all, but if someone is feeling brave, you can test this out.
1. From your active slot, with root access, you'll need to dd these images to the correct partitions. It's easiest to do this from the internal sdcard using termux. Use the following as a template. These commands assume you're installing it to slot b.
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/boot64.img of=/dev/block/by-name/boot_b
dd if=/sdcard/dtbo64.img of=/dev/block/by-name/dtbo_b
dd if=/sdcard/vendor64.img of=/dev/block/by-name/vendor_b
dd if=/sdcard/oem64.img of=/dev/block/by-name/oem_b
2. Reboot into fastboot, swap active slots, and wipe userdata + DDR. Then flash an arm64 AB GSI. I'd recommend trying Phh's AOSP Vanilla to maximize the chances of success.
To swap slots and wipe user data...
Code:
fastboot --set-active=_b
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase DDR
3. Reboot system, and tell me what happens.
**Do NOT attempt to use TWRP with this. You'll probably have to reflash stock firmware to the slot you tampered with to get everything back to normal afterwards.**

This is not source built, and it's very much a hack job, so I'm really not expecting anything to work. I did get Ubuntu installed this morning, so I will attempt to build from source in the near future.
Please don't use this if you don't know what a "brick" is or how to recover from one
PS: it probably wont work cause vendor is twice the size xD
The G7 play is coming so far little by little it was like yesterday we never thought we would have twrp and magisk and now in fact we do on a GSI

You are correct. She's way too hefty. It's ~164mb too large. I tried resizing last night, but I can only shrink it to 433mb. I can probably remove the modem files and replace them with the ones from stock. I think it's where most of the extra weight is from. The 64bit libs are about 1.5x bigger, but I don't think that accounts for all of it. The Muppets have a tree for sdm632, so all I need to do is look at it, and delete everything in vendor that's not in there. It should help but I'm not sure if it'll be enough. I could repartition it, but I'm not a fan of resizing partitions because I'm very fearful of bricks.

Have you flashed the gpt.bin from ocean before? If so I'll definitely try using that with the slightly smaller vendor I made. I'm thinking most things from Ocean should work natively. The only difference is screen size by a few pixels, ram, and battery capacity. Otherwise they're essentially the same.

yeah i use channel firmware extracted, then i use motoflash2sh to generate a bashscript from the flashfile. I then replace gpt .bin and remove it from the md5 checks at the beginning of the script. run the script and im repartitioned!

I haven't tried it yet. I got side tracked compiling twrp. I'm 3 errors away from success. Something about unknown compiler flags.
As an FYI, I'm out of a computer for the next several months, possibly up to a year. I'm going through a nasty divorce at the moment, and that's all I'm going to say about that. I'll get back into the game as soon as I can, but for now, you should not expect me to put out anything new for quite awhile. I can and will help people as much as possible during this time. But my ability to do so is going to be hindered without an PC.
I'm sorry to hear that. My divorce lasts since two years.
However, that's not why I registered. I received a Moto G7 Play for app security testing just a few days ago and found this forum when trying to install GSI to the phone. Everything works fine, but I'm interested to upgrade the OS to 64bit. Therefore, I'd like to try out the work already present in this thread. Unfortunately, I have neither found the repartition kit nor gained enough information about gpt.bin file format yet in order to repartition the flash memory of the G7 Play.
I'd really appreciate if anybody could either post or send me the repartition kit or supply information about the partition table format, because I failed to google for that kind of information.
[edit] Ok, I found out how to change partition size to the size of ocean. I flashed the following images:
* Partition table from ocean
* Everything else except system_a from channel
* system_a from phh (binder64)
Everything worked just fine.
Then I proceeded to flash the files posted in this thread earlier. The vendor64.img fits into the new partition layout just fine. After flashing all 4 files, I proceeded to flash phh 64bit version. Then I rebooted, but the boot failed:
First, the device showed up some very long hexadecimal number (maybe some UUID?) on a black screen, where it had shown "bad key" before when everything went right.
Afterwards, it ran into fastboot:
Start Up Failed:

So, I'm back on binder64 again.
Please, could you provide any help for fixing the images, or at least the information how you have built the 64bit images?

Blu released kernel source today. 8-27. The tar.hz is dated April, eh, whatever.
I added the source files to the wip twrp tree, it compiles without error. (Not my normal experience , on first time out with Blu kernel).
But as mentioned before, the twrp will not pack the image correctly. Because of the need for new dtb commands that twrp 9.0 build environment does not accept.
And when building in the twrp 10.0-wip tree, the results have not booted for me yet. (I'm on build attempt 12, or so)
I'm rambling, sorry.
When I repack the twrp using the built kernel, twrp has only blank screen, and adb is active. So kernel is slightly off.
Build did not output separate dtb or dtbo.
Well I confirmed it, the screen on this phone is not the one the kernel is building for.
I compared the defconfig from source, the one that matches the name in build prop, to the one I pulled from /proc. And they are different, and the kernel errors out during build when using right defconfig. So, waiting again for Blu to provide the files.
There does not appear to be any interest in this phone, other than my own.
Well maybe it will catch on
It's been advertised on many mm ore locations than the average BLU phone.

Not yet. They acknowledged my email, but as yet have not updated there posted source.
Root is half way achieved.
Factory rom was found. It included a boot-debug.img
When this image is used in boot partition, adb root is allowed.
It is only limited root. Example: blockdev command , used to allow remount / to rw, is not permitted. Bit is start.
Factory flashtool rom shared on Blu developers mediafire page.
Will add link to debug-boot.img soon

This is not entirely true.
Many Umidigi phones have been upgraded from 9 to 10. So the partitions would be very similar and considerably easy to root.
But for new phones coming with 10 the story changes. Read the last pages of your link's article. In addition, I know why and effect on Umidigi Power 3 still has limitations on root.
So this BLU G90 is not very different and depends on a lot of experimentation and tests. I believe that the OP is doing a great job mainly taking everything to github and trying to compile the kernel and firmware.

[Discussion] Treble on V20 (Its possible with some help)

Ok so heres the full story (It's short):
So my V20 bricked itself for no reason (I was on stock for a few days unrooted no unlock nothing)
and while going through xda I stumbled upon this:https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...eble-lineageos-15-1-treble-oneplus-3-t3830455
Treble on the oneplus 3 and 3t. Why this one you might ask
well it is because our V20 and the Oneplus are similar.
So here is what somebody who is willing to help with a h990ds or H990 (It wont brick your device don't worry)needs to do:
1.First install this modded twrp here is the Link (Made from Pheonix591's twrp): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pBrjWnKqRFFsQ-By_ElE3pW3LbWsg9sx/view?usp=sharing
2. Boot into the TWRP and go to advanced options then select terminal
Now type Treble and wait for a few seconds (This command is taken from the trebel port for oneplus 3 @simonsh)
Next reboot to whatever rom you are using(If it doesn't boot or bootloops something went wrong retry from step 2)
After it boots successfully go back to twrp and check in wipe and advanced wipe for Vendor
Now here is the problem the partition is only about 100 megabytes which we cant really use for treble it is too small.
So I am pinging a person who might be able to help us :
@runningnak3d I need your help in making the partition larger as it is again only about 100megabytes
Edit: So Runningnak3d has stopped developing for the V20 :crying: and I had just remembered that @x86cpu might be able to help so pinging him, we want as much people as possible.
Uhh so seems like my wifi is not properly working I will upload the twrp

Mind if I help I recently acquired a vs995 for cheap so for know at least im back. I experimented with trebe on the g5 and was able to build a treblized los 15.1 but the problem was no gsi would boot here's what I used to build it.

https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_kernel_lge_msm8996/+/222018
I then added this to BoardConfigCommon.mk:
# Treble
BOARD_PROPERTY_OVERRIDES_SPLIT_ENABLED := true
BOARD_VNDK_RUNTIME_DISABLE := true
BOARD_VNDK_VERSION := current
PRODUCT_FULL_TREBLE_OVERRIDE := true
I would also like to mention that a few years ago @King_lilrowrow said he was working on/achieved treble on the G5 I'd contact him as well for help.
What is 'treble' / 'treblizing'... Curious what it does.

The command does this (From @simonsh thread)
Code:
/sbin/sgdisk --typecode=5:8300 /dev/block/sdf
/sbin/sgdisk --change-name=5:vendor /dev/block/sdf
It basically makes the sdf block the vendor partition (Works as nothing has interfered with the working of the phone so the partition is unused but it is too small need help with that)

So treble aka project treble is something google implemented with android 8 that splits system/vendor to / system and /vendor basically it gives vendor files which are device-specific code and drivers used to interact with the phone's hardware there own separate partition. Now since /system without vendor is mostly free of device-specific code it means that the phones os can be upgraded with messing with building and modifying the device-specific code, this is were GSIs (generic system images) come in, flashing a gsi essentially means we can modify and upgrade our OS like a custom rom but instead of spending hours working on a custom rom we can just build a system image which is very fast and easy and it can do just as much as a custom rom as far as enhancing the user experience goes.
That's the best I can explain it here is an article explaining it more and as far as trebilizing goes it's just a term used when someone gets treble working on an old device that doesn't support it from the factory.

Thanks, BoardConfigCommon.mk is a device tree file and specific to any rom. Here this Commit outlines one of the issues @x86cpu had with getting treble working.

Hello, since Android 12 beta has released recently, i get to know that we can use the GSI image to update “any” (in terms of project treble supported) device to a newer android version without the need of building the rom per device.
So that i started to explore on a few xda threads trying to get Treble on LG V20. After digging into it, i updated my TWRP to the latest image (official TWRP 3.5.2_9 H990 which is the Official TWRP build commit based on Pheonix591's twrp build), then i saw that the /vendor shows up on mount, but not on either Wipe or Backup, which Phoenix591’s reddit post stated that this means there’s no vendor partition on it.
I followed this thread, since my TWRP is not modded (as the link in your comment does not work) I typed two sgdisk commands which the Treble command does, after a reboot, i saw a Vendor partition in Backup showed 0mb, Vendor partition DOES NOT appears on Wipe.
Next, as what i saw from @x86cpu ’s comment, he said he repartitioned and created the /vendor partition of 512mb by resizing the /system partition, unfortunately i am new to partitioning the Android device, i haven’t figured out how i can do that.
I tried to do sgdisk —print /dev/block/mmcblk0, it showed a single 64gb MBR FAT32 Partition instead of showing the system partition, it seems to be showing the micro sd card instead of the system volume, so i tried to unplug the sd card and reboot, now /dev/block/mmcblk0 is not found. I also tried to list info of /dev/block/sdf which we have wrote the partition name “vendor” to the 5th parnum of /sdf, it shows that the partition is only 4kb.
Since i have a H990N (Hong Kong version of the H990) i used the Dirty Santa patch to get TWRP installed on the device, that means the device’s bootloader is NOT fully unlocked, so the device might have difference between official unlocked device like the VS995.
Is there anything i could try ?

So in regards to partitioning you have to build a ROM with that partiton table in place for it too work and I have gotten treble to work (this was on myt h830) however no gsi will boot. I had to use this tool to add vender in order to flash my treble rom. I used the 800MB option in order for vender to show up.
Here are some 15.1 device tress I made for tbe VS995. I used the changes from x86cpu

Thanks for your reply ! I used the tool in your comment, at first i tried take use /system space to resize a 512mb /vendor partition unfortunately this makes the /system partition only at 5gb which result in Error:7 while flashing new ROMs, so i removed the partition and did it again by adding a 512mb /vendor using space AFTER /data, i checked the partition by fdisk -l /dev/block/sda the /vendor partition is created successfully with 512gb partition size, but no “/vendor” Partition was shown on the Wipe page of TWRP (while the partition was shown in Backup and Mount), not sure whether this affect us on going Treble or not, but wiping /vendor should be possible via terminal commands.

One more thing, I actually misunderstood the partition yesterday that i said it was 0mb, in fact, the backup page shows 0mb is a normal behaviour as the vendor partition is empty, i didnt check how big is the partition size, but I believe it should be 100mb after running the command “Treble”. Anyways, thanks for pointing out the tools which makes it 512mb now !

nethunter error E:not enough free space on /system

I'm on stock oos 10.3.11(Rooted and have twrp 3.5.2). Today I decided to install nethunter 2021.2 on my device.
since my last try with 2021.1 was a failure Installation was complete and finished but was stuck with bootloop last time.
But this time, I stuck on installation itself. I'm getting not enough free space on /system error during the installation.
I googled for like 2 hours and found only one article about this issue but that article was about lineage os.
solution from that article is moving pre-installed apps from ‘/system/app/’ to ‘/sdcard/Documents/’ temporarily.
So i tried to move some pre installed apps using the command it provided but it's not working and little bit out dated it seems. so i tried the help function in terminal but i don't know which options i should be using in order to do that operation. I don't want to brick my device. So, if anyone know how to fix this issue, please help me out here.

Im getting the exact same issue with my stock OOS 10.2.12. I was able to successfully disable dm-verity and force encryption. When I got to the step of installing nethunter I ended up with
"Error: Not enough space on /system to continue!
Aborting...
Cleaning Up...
Failed to install Kali Nethunter!
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1 Error installing zip file usbstorage/Download/nethunter-2021.2-oneplus6-oos-ten-kalifs-full.zip"
I am getting the same issue on a OnePlus 6T, OOS 10.3.12
The steps I follow to install are:
Wipe data
Flash stock ROM
Flash TWRP Installer Zip
Reboot into TWRP
Flash force-decrypt
Flash magisk
I verify with Root Checker that I do indeed have root
I also verify that force-decrypt works by:
Mount vendor
cat /vendor/etc/fstab.* | grep force
No output - suggesting decryption is successful
I am using the official Oneplus 6 Kali image from:
Get Kali | Kali Linux
Home of Kali Linux, an Advanced Penetration Testing Linux distribution used for Penetration Testing, Ethical Hacking and network security assessments.
www.kali.org
Any advice on how to fix this?
Thank you!

I tried that but it didn't work. Im not really in the mood to try the other method. I'm just going to get another phone to do it with because Im using this one for some personal stuff I dont want deleted anyway. Great post though, should help someone out for sure.
So heres the steps I used to get Nethunter up and running.
Tmobile 6T user converted to International. (So for all of you running 6, skip the next paragraph and start at Unlock bootloader).
Started fresh with a msm firehose, went back to android 9. Updated to whatever the version you had to download first to get to 10. 9.0.17 I believe. Then after that I upgraded to the very last 10 version. 10.3.12.
Unlock bootloader.
After that I install magisk, pull the payload from the 10.3.12 firmware and pull my boot.img. Patch it.
Boot into TWRP, flash the magisk boot img. Boot into OOS
Now heres the part where everyone (myself included) messes up. Install nethunter via magisk, and not via TWRP. There's just something messed up with how the storage size of system is being reported to the nethunter install script. I've had plenty of space and the script say theres not enough space 0mb free.
Installing via magisk worked just fine as far as app support goes. I haven't checked functionality beyond an apt upgrade and booting into KeX so I havent put it through its paces yet.
Edit: You can also disable system updates afterwards by running:
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oneplus.opbackup
i have had the problem o when trying to flash nethunter through twrp it always ending in error not enough space blah blah it was doing my head in but i found a solution so fdroid goto an app called smart flasher and flash it through that it will install after rebooting
