LG G7 G710PM converted to ULM - LG G7 ThinQ ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other De

I bought a lg g7 on ebay thinking it was the 710 ULM but investigating I realized that it was the 710pm converted to ULM. Is there any possibility to upload it to PIE since it does not update by OTA ...

return it and buy a pixel 3.
or get the modified lg up from here and the latest firmware from here
but seriously dont buy a g7. it could be great with a great rom, but there just isnt a lot of development behind it.

-Here- You can find step by step what I did to get android Pie 9 on LG G7. I had the same Phone, PM crossflashed to ULM.
LG G7 its a great phone, but if you want a phone with a large development community behind, this is not the chose one. IMO even not worth to try flash Custom Recovery or Root, there is not good rom out there and the Stock Rom with Android Pie work flawless.
Every Phone what I've have before got Custom Rom/Revovery since day One, but lately is not necessary to survive. A lot of things already are on stock rom. Anyway, I dont have any regret with this LG G7 (Good performance, Good Price $140), my last phone was a LePro 3 x727 with a great performance on Custom Rom (SD821, 4/64Gb Android 9 AOSiP, Magisk, Gcam Etc...) And I dont miss it at all...

I will try when I get home!

I bought this phone as well. It was too late to return it but I complained anyway. They gave me a $20 refund.
So all I can do is install lineage os 17 since there will be no OTA? Installing that OS or any OS looks very complicated. There is no way to upgrade from Oreo without wiping all the data?

Sadly not , but the crossflash process is not that difficult if you follow the guide .
I have sucessfully updated 2 G7's one pm(sprint) and a vm(verizon) both working pretty great on android 10. Can't speak about volte or wifi calling since I've bever used those services so if you are interested in that I can't give you any input
On the other hand you could try lineage os or any ither or the custom roms and some of them do support updates from within the same rom , no facotry reset needed unless upgrading from lets say 10 to 11

I have a PM I am trying to sell .. it was cross-flashed before I bought it.. I used as a wi-fi only phone very happily (that was my goal).. but am trying to get it saleable.... I cannot find an official Sprint ROM to flash? ie. I want to flash it back and sell it as original (ie. usable for Sprint) rather than sell as a frankenstein. Any pointers?

There is not Sprint stock Rom avaliable. Cross flash is a not-return journey. Anyway, there is nothing worng with crosflashed Roms, just a couple apps you cant download from Gplay Store, but you can grab apk from another store. On android 10 you can install some from Gplay like Netflix.

Which is what leads me to believe that most of the ‘ULM-PM’ model isn’t actually anything crossflashed but an actual ULM model ,that has imei that were simply issued to sprint assigned by lg firmware distribution division wtfever...
And that sprint G7’s simply were ulm models is all..
There may be crossflashed variant phones also BUT when u buy a bnib SEALED lg g7 and box says ulm but the sticker isn’t the ‘standard ulm’ and u look up imei and it says sprint..
well.... um yeah logic common sense wouuuuld dictate..
Thee Above^
**now if it were after the tmobile buyout then ofc the firmware would be MIGHT been ‘TM’
Any questions...
It’s already been said that most all g7 have ALL the bands but you have to enter a service menu to enable the ones the modem leaves open avail
Any other questions. .

lol... Your inexperience is showing here. The Moto X getting Nougat has nothing to do with Android O, we will get it within the next few months but it will likely be our last upgrade.
Other newer Moto devices will get O, probably towards the end of the year or early next year.
If you want consistent, regular updates and constantly be on the latest and greatest then buy a Pixel. End of story, nothing else will get you better.

What are you talking about? There are literally dozens of Nougat ROMs in the forums. I am currently running Resurrection Remix and their ROM is pretty stable on 7.1.1. I haven't had any issues with it and it's super smooth and fast. Try it!

I somewhat agree with you. Am on latest Lineage build with boot.img fix and everything is working fine.
But you can't argue against, "Stock Moto is best Moto."
Moto's stock ROM usually have best performance and battery life.
P.S: They improved battery life in Soak Test. There's very little battery drain when phone is idle. Also the phone doesn't get heat up much when multitasking.
Unified reply:
The third party ROM does not have Moto's unique features, power consumption and instability.

"wave over the screen to wake the phone" - I guess, you meant AMBIENT DISPLAY.
Well, in your words, Yes, I can wave over the screen to wake the phone.
Am currently on Lineage 03/20 build with fixed boot.img from the dev.
and before that I was on 02/13 build which was just as stable as stock ROM.
Maybe you should look around in forum a bit more.
use custom rom or have patience

Oh, it will get Android O, and probably P, maybe even Q too... But not officially or from Moto. Look at the Moto G (original one) it is 3 or close to 4 years old, and it is still supported by developers, you can get Nougat on it and will likely get O as well.
And why should Moto continue to support it? This phone is a getting close to 2 years old, there is no logical reason for Moto to continue supporting a platform that is getting beyond it's normal life cycle.

Keep dreaming if you think that'll happen. 7.1.1 is already out for many devices not to mention O aka Oreo for Nexus devices. Lenovo/Motorola is garbage and we all know this. That's why we all stop supporting these two garbage companies so they can go out of business.

Custom Rom
You know what I think Lenovo is never going the moto x android N in non US countries it is apparently out in Latin America
But If you want the rom just install Lineage OS they have a decent battery life for a custom and the device runs perfectly fine no bugs no lag nothing
A perfect Android N rom for almost all Motorola devices
I am trying my first custom ROM so please help.
I have Moto x Pure Edition XT 1575 on Android 6.0. I have not done anything to my phone yet and this is the first time I am trying. Would you please let me know the exact steps to root, flash and install custom ROM on my phone?

No need to root the stock rom if you're just going to wipe it and flash a custom rom. The steps you need to follow are:
1) Unlock bootloader if not already done (note unlocking will automatically wipe the device, so backup files appropriately first)
2) Use fastboot to flash TWRP
3) Make a full backup in TWRP (don't skip this step as it can save you a lot of trouble if things go wrong)
4) Wipe and flash your custom rom. Flash gapps before booting in to the new rom too if you want Play store, etc.
5) Some roms aren't pre-rooted any more. If you want root, I recommend Magisk.
Details on how to do all this are spelled out step by step in Heisenberg's guide. Just do not root using the method in there. As I mentioned above, you don't have to root the stock rom just to replace it with a custom. However, if you feel the need to root the stock rom just flash Magisk. Don't flash that custom boot image it links to; that was a hack from the early days of systemless root that we no longer need.
Back when i was messing around with my Moto X Pure...i tried all the Mm roms at the time. Always found stock rom the smoothest and best battery life and most to my liking. A year or so later....it still has amazing battery life and nearly 2 days of standby time. It even outperforms my LG V10 even after replacing the battery.
And Android 8.0 is Octopus...apparently... not Oreo.....the dev preview build that is out has an Octopus logo thing in it now.

Selling my OPO: return to stock or flash latest Lineage OS?

The title is self explanatory.
I'm selling my beloved (and sometimes behated) Oneplus One that has obviously been modded since day 1.
Unfortunately I never tried stock Lineage OS so I'm asking you guys if it is stable enough to be flashed instead of the stock and obsolete COS13.
Thanks!

I don't think it is as stable as cos13,but you should sell the device with nougat.
My suggestion is Flash sultan's lineage os and sell it.
The camera crashes in panarama mode. Otherwise solid is. Oneplus has the oxygenos for this phone but its version 5.1 if you want rock solid stability

There is OOs 3.1.4 port which is stable as well.
Some OTa updates install the factory camera back on..
I ended up locking the bootloader and reinstalling COS13, mainly because some banking apps and Netflix don't show up on the Play Store with an unlocked bootloader.
It's been almost 3 long years of flashing and modding, now I'll try so stay stock with no root as long as possible with my new Redmi Note 4
Thank you for the advice, cheers guys!

Most stable, up to date and future proof ROM?

Which one is it? Most of the ROMs which have been posted here haven't got an Update for ages now, the only one which seems up to date is the Oreo one, however I am afraid that this ROM will be dead too soon (hopefully not) :/ I just hope that this ROM will be our savior and get us out of this misery aka EMUI.
I'm in the same situation. Most of the roms have some bugs and never get updated and others are just not stable enough to be used daily. I hope there will be at least one rom that is stable and that gets updated from time to time. Especially since Honor 8 won't get Android Oreo anymore.

I'm new to the Honor 8 (and coming from the Nexus 6: ease of modding/availability of custom firmware etc., this totally sucks). But I'll tell you that generally the only "better" custom ROM is a more stable ROM: otherwise, it depends on user preference. Do you want a lot of customization options, or are you preferring a pared-down, bare-bones experience? That's what makes the difference.
The trouble with the H8 appears to be that 1) EMUI for the H8 just doesn't play very nicely with custom ROMs (and possibly even just rooting?); and 2) because of that, not many people who are interested in developing ROMs are taking on the task.
So I'd just get used to EMUI or take whatever ROM is most stable according to most--I have no idea personally what that is, but your options are going to probably be pretty limited (especially now that it looks like Huawei is shafting H8 owners by not releasing Oreo). I doubt you've got any room to be picky here: just shoot for stability.
As for crDroid specifically, it is one of many lines of ROMs (like Resurrection Remix) and is released in different variants for different phones. This one is based on Cyagenmod (and my guess is the Honor 8 one isn't official, but rather an unofficial variant, "based on" crDroid)--but you could've found that out by using Google (see here for starters).
The Honor 8 appears to be an especially difficult device to successfully mod, so if you're a beginner, I'd really think twice before taking on the task unless you can get some help. I'm fairly well-versed with modding, but I'm either going to return this phone or limit my tinkering to rooting.

Planning to get Oneplus 7 (Regular)

Hi Oneplus Community!
I have some questions before buying Oneplus 7 tomorrow.
• I'll be getting the GM1900 which is Chinese Model but the seller said that it has already been flashed to OxygenOS, I will not encounter any update issue or update will be delay right if I'll get this one?
• Banking Apps should work fine after flashing OxygenOS to GM1900 model? or it will not work because of root or unlock bootloader? (I'm really sorry since I don't have any information about these)
• I'll be upgrading from Galaxy S8+ to Oneplus 7 will there be a huge difference in daily usage performance?
I can't get the Global version in my country(Philippines) because it is not officially released here and in the future once it will be released it will be troublesome to get one because in my region they don't stock Oneplus that much. So I'll be getting the Chinese Model to a non-official store in my place.
Hello my friend!
Last year when OnePlus released the android Pie HydrogenOS for the OnePlus 5T (the chinese version of the OS), there were some problems with the device. No Playstore installed, some firmware issues (force closed etc not necessarily related to the beta) and also there weren't any google apps (easy to install though). We had to install TWRP to install the HydrogenOS beta, root the device, unlock the bootloader etc.
Why am i telling you these? Because probably they will send you a device with unlocked bootloader etc (I said probably, not sure ). So you will have to ask them how the installed the firmware.
Yes. The OP7 is a beast. I got mine yesterday and it's a great device. Once you get a OnePlus you will not buy another phone, trust me on this one.
Wait some days to see if the oneplus becomes official to your country too and also ask the retailer those information so that you can be sure that the device you are about to buy is not messed up

Oh that is very scary since I'm not that expert on the customization of android how can I check the bootloader status if its unlock or not?
Lastly, even if they flash OxygenOS from HydrogenOS updating it to the next OS will make my device revert its OS to the original and default for GM1900 which is HydrogenOS? Please enlighten me. They are claiming that it is a Global ROM btw.
Thank you for the heads up!

Well, you can't check it until you have the device. It could be the Global ROM but i think that they have to make some changes in order to modify it. No, it won't revert to the HydrogenOS after installing an update afaik.
How much does it cost? There isn't another retailer or another online shop from where you can buy the European model?

It costs ₱25,990 or around 500 USD pretty cheap though yeah this store I'm going to get one is somehow popular here in my location they offer products that the official market doesn't. If I have to wait for the official Oneplus 7 in my country my estimate will be in September or October if they are going to release it in my country even the 7 Pro was officially launched here in the Philippines, our authorized seller(Store A) in my place of Oneplus doesn't even have the stock of Oneplus 7 Pro they say it will be arriving mid or late July (sucks) so its really hard in my situation right now to get an official one they only offer a Oneplus 6T right now which costs around 550 USD. So I have to get the Oneplus 7 on the (Store B) who is selling the GM1900 model which is modified to OxygenOS. Btw these chinese model are also popular here in my country because it is cheaper than the official one around 10-30% price difference (base on our oneplus community facebook group). Only bad thing if I get from (Store B) is that they only offer 3 months warranty and if it is bound for replacement they are going to send it back and have it diagnose before they will give me a replacement hopefully I won't get there.
Will work fine, same hardware and bands as in EU version. Using China 256/8GB version in EU, no issues at all.
If you want the european one then order it to an european country and then use this service. https://www.parcl.com/ (if products are not available to order in your country yet, just order to this companys hq from some EU country and they will ship it to you)
Hey @cheschanco I don't know whether you have made your decision of not, if they have already installed Oxygen is, you can get the device. Don't worry about bootloader lock/unlock it doesn't have to do anything with updates unless you are rooted. If you still want locked bootloader there is simple command for that and is one step process you don't have to be an expert for that.
Although you will still receive all the oos updates nevertheless. Now coming to the device. This has by far the best device OnePlus has made in terms of price and performance. Camera quality is identical to op7pro - wide angle. Just go for it.

I already got the device and yes it comes with OxygenOS with it. I guess I will not mess with those settings anymore anyway is it ok to keep the factory OS which is 9.5.2 I'm still hesitating to update because of some bugs and battery drain according to other users and with my current OS I don't notice any bugs so I'm going to stick with this one. Yeah correct huge improvement specially in gaming performance compare to my S8+ looks like a 150% difference.

• Banking Apps should work fine after flashing OxygenOS to GM1900 model? or it will not work because of root or unlock bootloader? (I'm really sorry since I don't have any information about these)

There are no issues with banking apps provided you don't root. If you do root, then there are still workarounds.

Already got the device few days ago and yes banking apps are working. Thanks for the headsup about how rooting our device will affect banking apps.

EU rom questions

ToneLa said:
It's not only the best phone I've ever used, I think it's clearly far & away the best in class for a phone today and I genuinely want it to raise bars for what's possible with the hardware. As a package, it's remarkable. Best in class overall & in many areas.
I just love it. Nothing is a disappointment. Getting on the xiaomi.eu ROM negated the ill effects of importing a deGoogled phone. It's reliable, charges in ludicrously quick time, is a fantastic camera, seems unofficially pretty splashproof. Feels good, looks good, sounds good, works with everything
Yes, it gets five snowflakes

Interesting, I just got mine and was thinking about jumping on that eu rom as well, do you know if its an official rom or if its unsupported? and how will we get updates if we use it?

based on official, but not official. They do updates over the air normally but not til TWRP is ready. They're a solid group, used them before when I had a Mi 9. From a readme:
> Xiaomi Europe was founded [...] to provide [...] an exlcusive community for English MIUI Android and Xiaomi products. Since 2010 our web site has officially worked with Xiaomi on a variety of projects for APP translations and bug fixing and is a major part of today's Xiaomi Global ROM experience thanks to the great team at xiaomi.eu and its community.

trust them.
Get yourself on to the EU ROM. I know it's going to take a week to get unlocked but it's well worth while. The EU ROM makes this a superb phone and I've come from a Huawei P40 Pro plus that photographically may be better but there is not much in it. I just love this phone now. Got a couple of cases coming and a better screen cover protector.

Ok is there a way back to getting the phone "locked" again on stock rom if i want to return ?
Why do you want it locked again? The EU ROM shows no security issues, it passed every test.
On the Chinese ROM, I couldn't use my Sky Q as it said it wasn't secure and that was before flashing. Now I can use it. Is there a reason you need it locked?
You can flash the Chinese stock ROM if you do want. I have done to test but come back to the EU version. If you need a link to the stock let me know, I did put instructions on the Xiaomi forum but can copy it here.

I mean if i want to return it to default to be able to sell it. Also 2 questions, does the windows way work or not because i read there's issues in the bat file and only linux works. I dont have access to a linux machine currently. 2nd question, when twrp is ready, until then we will have to flash ourselves until twrp is ready to be able to do OTA?
We've found a fix for the windows method which involves swapping out the fastboot. It's all there in the thread for it, I promise...this is for overall love
And if you may sell it, unless you are going to sell to a Chinese person, I think they will appreciate not having to do the change from the Chinese version.
There are warnings about relocking and the possibility of bricking but you can always flash the stock Chinese version again like I did to test it and then back to EU ROM. Unlocking will bind your Mi account to you phones hardware but this can be swapped to another user if you sell.

Any Xiaomi.eu questions go there, any of us already on it are happy to help as it's a waste of the device not being on it!

Ok i never unlocked a xiaomi before, so when i do this i wont need to wait for these days? just click unlock and it will be unlocked and i can go ahead?
Unfortunately not. You will have to wait 168 hours ( 1 week). No way round it as the hardware will be locked to your Mi account during the process.

Or direct from them https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/20-9-3-4.57258/
What are the benefits of EU Rom? I have removed all bloat on China ROM and it's doing fine. Just having and issue of high power consumption of Google Play Services and mdnsd.
See attached screenshots. Plus battery lasts longer, no issues with notification and it reports it's fully secure. For me, it refused to run skyq as the app said it was not secure. Using the EU ROM, it's happy. Have a look at the attached.
How long does Xiaomi normally support their devices? How many "Major" android upgrades do the provide? Like from 10 to 11? And if we went through the EU Rom route will they provide updates for longer?
