Mi Note 10 Raw vs editeg jpeg - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Questions & Answers

So I was comparing photos between the Mi note 10 and the P30 Pro and realized that even though the pictures in 108 mb resolutionin look nice in good lighting, there was a weird smoothing effect going on, especially noticeable in the gras. When I went to the gsm arena photo comparing tool, I noticed that the Mi Note 10 had a somewhat strong blur effect in the pictures (pictures in the link). Is this part of the phones software to remove noise produced due to the high resolution sensor?

Does anyone have a raw and jpeg of a picture to compare?

if you want to compare the 108 MP picture, you need to compare it with the 40MP of P30, so that you compared picture without pixel binning with another which also dont use pixel binning,
else, the one without, will always looks softer
not to mention bigger sensor mean less depth of field

Yeah there's definitely some smoothing going on when you use the 108mp in poor light conditions. I'd say the 108 mp is only for perfect conditions.
I don't think I'll even use that mode, I just appreciate getting 27 mp binned images, which themselves are a massive improvement over the typical 12mp images from other phones.

well its the same as if u have 300mgbit internet conection
an the site u are trying to download from only support 3mb download u wont get any more than 3mb
its the same wiht 108 mp camera
if the software is bad u wont get a perfect picture untill the software support it
so xiaomi needs to step it up an make the perfect software
even op7pro takes better pict

[Q] [Help] Device Camera Info - Where its read from

Hello guys,
I recently bought and NO1 N3 phone, wich have 13 Mpx Back camera and 5 MPx Front camera.
Well, actualy, i seriously think that the manufactuers placed both cameras of 5 MPx.
That's true.
I tried several stuff, but the camera aplication is just showing a maxium of 5 MPx resolution, 1920 x 2840 i think, or near of that.
This is true for some apps like mobile uncle toos or Antutu, that reads device info. For antutu, both cameras for 4.9 Megapixels.

Trust me this is not from the ROM or Libs, something else like some bug or malfunction of the device.
All of my friends with the same phone, no problem, i never seen nothing like this before...
You may say something,

Vivo Nex Photo thread Please share your photos taken with the NEX

After doing some research looking for reviews also real world experience with the camera comparing it with for instance Samsung S9 its clear to me that the Vivo Nex camera is the most underrated camera right now of all flagships.
Please feel free to share your photos and tricks.
My Trick is, dont use the AI mode unless it is night. AI mode seem to make the picture overall brighter but it also makes it loose contrast too. AI mode also seem to over saturate.
In night AI is better. I wish there was a mode where I could take two pictures one with AI and one without AI is saved. Cause its little bit hit and miss sometimes the AI is better but in general using without AI the camera is most consistent.

Here is some photos I have been taken with the Vivo NEX

I have not tried the 24M mode can some one explain the difference ? I assume the regular mode use pixel binding in favor of more light to the sensor and 24M is probably a better option for really sharp daytime photos ? can some one explain if some one have got better results with the 24M mode in any scenarios ?

Some questions about the P40 Pro’s camera settings

Hello, I am interested in buying the P40 Pro. I know that the P40 pro shoots at 12.5 MP by default, but to do this, there is some upscaling. In theory this would result in worse pictures than the Mate 30 Pro. Would it be possible to shoot at a non-scaled resolution, such as 10mp as was the default of prior Huawei flagships, and prevent the upscaling? Thanks
There is no upscaling, there's downscaling.
Main camera provides 50 MP, just devide it by 4 - and you're at 12,5 MP.
So your fears about losses caused by upscaling are quite baseless.
Picture quality is real great, just the Pro mode is close to useless, yet.
Yep, P40P uses 4-in-1 pixel binning to output 12.5MP shots from its 50MP main sensor (50/4=12.5)
I was getting terrible photos versus my previous M30P but after all these firmware updates recently, can safely say it's much better now imo.
ignore post
Gsmarena just published the review on the P40 Pro +. The image from the primary is indeed cropped. Only when users shoot at 50mp or at .85 zoom, you can see the uncropped image. This means that the image is indeed being up-scaled by around 20 percent. I don't understand why they just didn't keep it at 10.5MP to prevent this upscaling. Some Huawei phones allow you to shoot at different MPs, does this phone allowed any other image sizes besides the 12.5mp and 50mp while still maintaining aspect ratio?

^Default 12.5mp images
Shot at .85 zoom which removes the crop.
Thanks so much!
. 85x zoom is not through their ultra wide sensor?

I don't think so, in any case, when you shoot a 1x zoom at 50mp, and then 1x zoom at 12.5mp, the 12.5mp image is still cropped. About 20% of the image is cropped off, that means Huawei is doing some upscaling. I don't care about the image being cropped, the edges of most cellphone cameras are pretty much crap anyways, but I don't think they should upscale it.

Slow motion video at 480 or 960 fps

Hi everyone,
I bought a Poco X3 NFC, and it is supposed to be capable of 960fps video. The problem is the stock mi camera allows you to film only 4 seconds, of which only the last 1 second is actually in slow motion. This makes it basically impossible to actually film anything, either you are too early or too late.
I have two questions:
- With a different ROM or camera app, will it be possible to simply film video in 960 fps from start to finish, and to film longer than 4 seconds?
- Would it be possible to film with an intermediate speed, like 480 fps, which is not available in the stock software? Or is the hardware not actually capable of this?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks,
Joe
U can change it in camera settings.

No, sorry. I've given up on doing slow motion video. At least it still takes decent pictures... I'm on a custom ROM though so I don't know that the default apps would be like now.

Question Terrible front camera performance (Colour balance + Saturation)

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this, I quite often make pictures with my front cam and the camera is such a downgrade from my 4 year old Xiaomi Mix 3! The colour balance is all off, almost like they forgot to make a profile for the front cam.
The back camera is just fine, but the front camera often looks like a $20 toy camera just because of this terrible colour balance. I can fix most of my selfies in Google Photos by using a combination of adding warmth (Colour Balance) and adding saturation which makes them look just fine.
For a phone this expensive... this shouldn't be needed. I'd say most mid-level phones even make better selfies then this.
I've tried cleaning the lens but this makes no difference, the Samsung camera app just fails to properly process the colours in the front camera's images.
Because I apparently don't value my privacy, here is a picture as taken by the Samsung camera, and the same picture after adding warmth and saturation.
The original image makes me look lifeless with the skin being very pale, like a zombie almost. It was a nice and sunny day, why do I look like I'm 10 seconds away from my death?

Anyone else with this issue? Does a modded version of the Samsung camera exist with the possibility to manually define post-processing settings? I just need to have it add more saturation and offset the colour balance
I'm searching for a solution myself, google's Gcam camera is great but I can't find a way to make it use the front camera. I'll be back if I find a way..

I've searched high and wide for a way to make another camera app the default one to get a better front camera selfie (even by disabling Samsung camera) but it seems like the cover screen and Samsung camera are intertwined and cannot be separated.
What we really need is a developer to have a look at the system framework or whatnot and see if something can be done to change the default camera, but they (developers) are a rare breed nowadays.
But on the bright side, if they ever do a remake of the movie weekend at Bernie's I'm pretty sure they'd offer you a part with photos like that..!
