[MAGISK][MODULE] V-Thermal Fast Charging for RN7P - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi Guys. I have seen many people complaining about slow charging speeds in our beloved RN7P. The charging just falls drastically after a certain temperature. This throttling is done by Xiaomi to prevent the device from overheating. But the threshold conditions are too strict.
Introducing V-Thermal:
It is an optimized charging profile for our device which gives faster charge speeds, is safer and battery friendly. It has been tested multiple times to ensure faster-charging speeds without overheating.
Steps to Install:
Open Magisk Manager and go to 'Modules'
Press '+' icon and select the file
Reboot the device
Done!
Note: The config has been thoroughly tested. But I am not responsible for any damage to your device.
Press Thanks if I helped you!

Bro. Don't worry. It will work fine. It is impossible for this module to cause bootloop, but you can still remove it through twrp if u do get boot issues. Its Magisk module. Easy to remove.

Its preety nice good work! Thanks!

So basically this module forces the device to charge @15W constantly instead of getting toned down to 12W and even as low as 8W after reaching a certain thermal range? Or it works differently because i still see mine getting toned down to 12W like usual.

I don't know? At least it should be constant from 0% to 80% (assuming with best conditions) yes? If not so please do enlighten me

Thermal profiles are not meant to force a constant charging rate. And charging rates are never constant. It goes up and down depending on your phone's temperature.

As mentioned by adrian, it's designed to extend your battery life while making the charging much faster, without harming the battery by maxing out the optimum temperatures ( i.e. A change in the default values)

Xthermal Profiles for Redmi Note 7 Pro!!!
By @ravinder0003
Xthermal profiles are modified thermal profiles which are optimized so as to give you maximum charging speeds and maximum performance even at little higher temperatures without affecting your device health.
Stock thermal profiles are too aggressive to be used in these summer days. They throttle everything even in normal room temperature at many places.
(Especially in a tropic climate like India's)
Procedure:
1. Boot into twrp
2. Flash the zip
3. Reboot into system
***Works on both MIUI & Custom Roms
(Flash again after each update)
Flash Power for charging and performance tweaks.
Flash Charging for charging tweaks only.
***Warning: If you don't know what it is, Google it or stay away.
(Posted with permission of the developer)
(Makes changes in the vendor/etc battery_charging_ctl file)
(Screenshots Provided By Vishal P)
I 've also added a fast charging profile by Vishal P, which is much easier on the battery. (again, try at your own risk)

In fact it's designed to improve it...it stabilizes the heat management of the device...and in case you want to revert flash the stock profile.

Technically it's designed to improve battery life as batteries operating under higer temperatures have a lower shelf life. This makes sure that the phone doesn't heat it up all the time...
Messed up my charging
I flashed Xthermal power first but the device heats a lot while charging after that i flashed stock but the charging is too low. Can you provide miui orignal charging speed through configs. THANKS
BTW IWAS USING RN7PRO fast charger (Qc 3.0) and on bootlegers rom.

Ok so no response from him (I guess he's busy with the official group on telegram), what I suggest is you dirty flash the current ROM, this should return everything to the default values and not cause you any harm..

I did dirty flash and it kinda messed my system.. Can't edit buildprop now even after granting root (most of other stuff seems broken). Luckily i created a backup but i figured one thing after dirty flashing my device isn't heating anymore. Charging with QC 3.0 is giving input of 2045mA which is less then 2589mA(that i got after i flash xthermal config). So yes POWER Xthermal is surely increasing charging but at the cost of lot of heating. Also when i use the phone while charging (before power xthermal) the input automatically decrease/throttle to 836mA due to which the phone doesn't heat. Powerxthermal keeps the same input even while charging and using the the phone so it heats. .
---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:40 PM ----------
Update 2
So i tested Charging with defult charger and Q. C 3 charger before and after flash Power xthermal
Before flashing (stock on bootlegers rom)
Default charger input = 1215mA (no heating also input throttling/decrease while using)
Q. C 3.0 charger input = 2045mA (no heating also input throttling/decrease while using)
After flashing Power xthermal
Q.C 3.0 charger input =3100mA ( heating and no throttling while using)
my suggestion/request would be to change power XTHERMAL config to provide input below 2600mA and leaving rest of the values to the same. This way charging will increase and heat will be less. Also disable throttling for now. KEEP THE INPUT CONSTANT AT ANY VALUE below 2600 . I will test of the device heat or not with/withtout throttling. Xthermal does what it promise but heating is a major problem. This is good work but require some minor changes. These are my suggestions amd review. This can be a solution for solving heating issue for n7pro. Overall great work. . Waiting for changed configs to test. I will be happy to test these for you
---------- Post added at 04:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:01 PM ----------
Update 3
I restored my backup and as far i can see power Xthermal intially provide charging at 3100mA due to which device heats. It remains at this constant value for some time. After heating the input switches directly to 2563mA. Just - 500 in these values shouldn't lead to heating amd charging will also be fast
#charging with qc 3 before power xthermal is around 2100 and throttle below this value

Battery needs optimization

After 7 days of with the phone in my pocket, I think battery needs some serious optimization. Compared to my previous device Redmi note 6 pro on 4000mah had a lot better battery than Mi note 10 at 5260mah. Battery is draining like too fast. I'm on xiaomi eu btw.
I sincerely hope Xiaomi fixes this battery issue with a firmware update. A 5000+mah battery with a mid tier chipset should give phenomenal life.
I think we should get together and make some noise to get Xiaomi to address this. Tech reviewers are blaming the UI
I must agree on this. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Thought it would be amazing, but it's only marginally better than my old Nokia 7 Plus.. And the battery in that one is 3800mah.
Please optimize the software Xiaomi!
Yeah after rooting i did some digging. There is some kernel optimisation needed.
Example: Min freq is not set to 300mhz but to 5xx mhz. Also there is some kind of cpu boost enbled (i wasnt yet able to disable it) which is way too agressive, this also causes the min freq to get stuck at 13xx mhz. This cna only be solved by rebooting

Actually I am impressed by how long the battery lasts on my Mi note 10
Using it basically no stop, with screen on 90% if the timer and using GPS, chats and emails and more, in the evening I still have not less than 40%

Yeah exactly. But thats not that big problem, if you watch your CPU Stats you can see your idle freq get stuck at 13xx for both clusters. Thats quite high for idling. Also did look into the released kernel source, but couldnt find the problem
Not the biggest fan of things like LKT, but in this case it works. Sets the cpu to 300mhz and gets rid of the 12xxmhz boost! if any one want to try it aswell
Your phones guys have really some problems. Mine is rooted and twrp. Updated. The rest is all stock. Yesterday I used it like crazy. I would like to feel the same optimism that you feel, but until now, I cannot. I got my phone 2 days ago, 2 full charges, one gave me 8h of SOT and the other 7h of SOT. There is something wrong here. I had more battery life with the Pocophone I had than with Mi note 10. Let's see if in a future update it gets better

Thinking about it, 4000mah sounds right. The Oppo Reno2 has a 4000mah battery, uses the same 730G chipset and has about the same screen size.
The GSMarena endurance test gave the Oppo Reno2 a 102hr endurance rating.
The Mi Note 10 scored 95hrs endurance rating.

Magisk: Fast Charging With Safe Cut off

This is not my Module. Credits to @notzeetaa
I came across this magisk module in the Poco phone forums originally, and I've noticed that a lot of tweaks for the pocophone seem to work well with our G7.
You can find this module here: https://t.me/s/ZeetaaProjects
I've been running it long enough to feel comfortable posting here, however use it at your own risk. If temperatures get too high charging will either slow down or cut off temporarily. This module is best for needing a quick charge in a pinch, where you can set your phone down for a few minutes because it can get warm depending on what other mods you may have or your kernel settings if you're using your phone heavily while plugged in. I feel like the best way to use this is in conjunction with a charging control app or one of the magisk modules that give you full control over cut-off percentage/temp etc.
I have achieved a full charge beginning at 5% battery in less than 15 minutes. See the attached screenshot where I use ampere to monitor battery stats for proof that this works.
There was actually an update to the module. I just flashed it.
I also highly recommend the touch V8 module. It works on our phones as well and the difference in the touch screen responsiveness and smoothness is night and day. Updated results are below

It should work theoretically without a problem. As long as you have TWRP, just give it a shot. If anything goes wrong just open your file manager in TWRP and delete the module manually and you should be fine, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work just fine. There is a Turbo module that charges at 3000mah but if you do look closely the Telegram post Says it is recommended for use with a specific charger that I assume is native to Xiaomi phones, so I haven't had the courage to try it. Charging at 2500, my G7 stays at reasonable temperature.

This is actually a great module. It literally doubled the charging speeds on rooted stock Q, As I only have Samsung fast chargers, before I was getting up to 1 Amp only, now the phone is charging at 2 Amps without any issues, and it doesn't get any hot.

Does it feel hot to the touch? Or just warm? Because the 8T has Snapdragon 865 which has decent thermals...hmm...
You might want to consider a hard reset/wipe. It's possible a rogue background process is using a lot of the CPU.

Damn.. I don't see that kind temps even if I would keep it in a freezer.
So it's definitely not normal. the cpu never drops below 38 even overnight and battery never drops below 30.
Thank you so much, what version do you have? 256 or 128, I have the 128. Maybe I'll swap it for the 256 version just to be safe that it's not a faulty batch
Again, thanks a lot

Themes / Apps / Mods Cool dowm your Tensor

The Tensor G2 processor on the pixel 7 series has poor energy efficiency, which will cause the phone to heat up easily.
Therefore, I decided to limit the CPU clock frequency of the Tensor G2. By adjusting the overheating threshold, the CPU clock frequency limit can be achieved. Keep your Pixel 7 Pro super cool, not hot at all, and with longer battery life.
I made a Magisk module for your input, if you are also troubled by the heat of Pixel 7 Pro, then you can try this module.

My Pixel 7 Pro is already cool. Never ever even mildly warm. But i dont play games
With the case on, when charging it reaches 40 degrees. But otherwise it's... Ok I guess?
Summer is coming and he's going to be hot, using a Pixel in China.

Thank you!!!
Great, I had to test this. I have the Battery Guru, and I have set the temperature to 30 but it always prompts, even when I am using it for minimal work. Can you share some performance benchmarks, either with Battery Guru or Better Battery Stats? and the source on github?
Great i want to test
Not trying to be negative as I like this idea!
'The Tensor G2 processor on the pixel 7 series has poor energy efficiency'
Do you have data to proof that or are you guessing?
'which will cause the phone to heat up easily'
I have not really noticed that. in fact my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets much warmer than the p7p.
Curious what the actual performance gain and heat reduction will be (in numbers).

Data to prove that the efficiency of G2 is poor? Sure, sir.
This shows Tensor G1, and Tensor G2 introduced an additional X1 core (2x X1 cores) and didn't improve the efficiency much apart from being slightly more efficient since it's based on 4nm.
So, long story short, G2 is somewhere between Exynos 2100 and 888 when it comes to efficiency and neither of these two mentioned is really efficient.
Pixel 4's SD855 is more efficient than both Pixel 6 and 7. lol
There is plenty of power measurement data and how the SOC behaves under load, feel free to research.

mind posting the correction of values? at what temp it starts to throttle? is something else tweaked as well? im too lazy to look at the code myself lol
Whose using this? What are you seeing in terms of battery life gain and is the phone stuttering and stalling during usage?

Installed it several days ago. Noticed that charging fell to a crawl, to the point I thought my charger or cable was bad. Uninstalled immediately.

No lag, stuttering or freezing. No issues with charging. Temperature stays lower than normally, for example while using chrome or other browser temperature used to spike up to 60-65° within few minutes but now it's down to 50-55°. I didn't notice any change in battery life.

I'm also curious to know what performance gains or battery efficiencies Pixel phones have with their 'clean' software.
5 second delay in the camera app when changing from photo to video or changing from back camera to front...

@fenibook , can you add any conditions to the module so it's inactive when the phone is charging either reorh cable or wirelessly?
For me camera works fine. Also, installed again on QPR3 and charging seems ok.

Yes my bad.. It was the one plus hide navigation bar module I used.. It was the only one that worked fine with android 13.. Does anyone know a proper one to hide that pill bar?!

AOSPmods, works fine for that. Some of the stuff is incompatible with 13 QPR3, but hiding the pill works fine.

The brightness bar from quick panel works OK or gets stuck when you slide it?!
